QUESTION 5
HOW DID YOU
ATTRACT/ADDRESS YOUR
AUDIENCE?
Rhys Williams
AUDIENCE PROFILE
 Our audience profile is 16-24 year old males who go to the cinema as a
social or are into film. Our audience profile must like action as a genre.
Males over the age of 24 are still a part of our target market and their
audience profile is people who enjoy film. This audience will be
attracted to our film because of the type of actors we have. Actors that
are slightly older than the audience or the same age are more
interesting because the audience can then relate to them more. This
age group and target are very much into exciting films and are seeking
thrills so the use of props like guns would encourage them to watch it
as its interesting.
CAMERAWORK
 The use of camera work attracts the audience in different ways. The way
we used low angle shots on the main character to assert his dominance
over the high angle shots used on character 2 makes it clear who is
more powerful.
 The main type of shot that engages the audience is the over the
shoulder shot because it is a point of view type shot. This means it
addresses the audience as they are seeing the same thing that the
character is looking at. This is ideal because it gives the audience a
better idea of what is happening and attracts them more because they
know what is going on.
IMPACT AND GENERIC CONVENTIONS
 The impact our opening has on the audience is positive. It will have the
stereotypical impact an action movie has on our target audience. Our
film features an exciting plot and therefore it encourages the viewers.
Generic conventions in an action film however are quite bad as they
feature fighting, guns and car chases. These can have a negative effect
on the audience as they look to this as if it is ok to do things like this.
Therefore our film does not have too many negative conventions
because otherwise the audience can be negatively affected.
