2. Target Audience
An audience which our film may attract are teenagers. This is because teenagers may
be able to relate to this after perhaps seeing or being victim to bullying. This age
group will be at school or college so they will be the most recent of people to have
seen any bullying, due to one of our scenes being filmed in college, our film may
seem more realistic as it is an obvious place for bullying to occur. If they like the
film this would also show us that the storyline is realistic, how believable the film
is what will make the film good. Media consumption of this age group will also
make the film believable to any other age group watching the film as the
characters play into stereotypes of young people.
We used a flashback from college to
show that he is bullied where ever
he is seen, it also makes the film look
realistic as real life bullying may
occur in colleges.
3. Pre-Production research
Before filming we researched other films within the same genre such as “Bully” and
“About A Boy” to look at what audiences are attracted to those films and whether
they are watched mainstream audiences or independent niche audiences. We also
created a questionnaire about our film where we wrote the storyline of our film
and then asked follow up questions about whether they would watch the film etc.
I sent this questionnaire to friends via Facebook as they are college students and
are classed as our target audience. We received positive feedback and were not
specifically told to make any improvements as they thought the flashbacks were
realistic as well as the overall storyline.
