LSC MEN’S BASKETBALL
Texas A&M-Commerce remains undefeated this season with a 9-0 overall record and 4-0 mark in Lone Star Conference
games. Texas A&M-Kingsville (2-0) and UT Permian Basin (3-0) are unbeaten in league play.
This week’s schedule features non-conference games.
The LSC men have a 60-37 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s teams are
currently 14-9 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 16-5 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
James McPherson, UT Permian Basin, SR, Guard, Ann Arbor, Mich., Robichaud HS
McPherson went off for 31 points with five 3-pointers in the Falcons 106-100 win over No. 8 West Texas A&M. The
senior guard was 10-20 from the field on the night and led the Falcons with four steals and a season-high eight
rebounds. McPherson ranks third in the Lone Star Conference in scoring with 19.4 points per game and is tied for first in
3-point percentage (.442) and second in 3-pointers per game (3.8).
DEFENSIVE
Josh Hawley, Tarleton State University, JR, Forward, Irving, Texas, MacArthur HS
Hawley was the defensive force at the rim that helped Tarleton win a pair of conference games over the week. Hawley
nearly averaged a double-double with 11.5 points and 9.5 rebounds while the LSC leader in blocks also averaged 3.5
blocks and 1.5 steals. The sophomore recorded his third double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds in
a 26-point rout over Western New Mexico. Hawley also blocked three shots and had two steals while limiting the
Mustangs to 35 percent shooting and 19 percent on three-pointers. Hawley followed with 7 points and 8 rebounds
against Eastern New Mexico, but his biggest presence was at the rim, where he tied a career high with four blocks.
Hawley's goal protection helped the Texans erase a 10-point second-half deficit to defeat ENMU 68-67. Hawley and the
Texans held teams to 63 points on 39 percent shooting and 36 percent behind the arc for the week.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
David Chavlovich, West Texas A&M University, hit the 2,000 point mark this week as he tallied 58 points in two
games, including 30 at UT Permian Basin on Tuesday and followed with 28 points on Saturday in an 82-72 win over
Lubbock Christian. Chavlovich's 28 points hit 2,000 right on the dot as he had just five points at halftime and scored 23
in the second half. For the week, Chavlovich went 19 of 38 from the field (.500), 8 of 16 from beyond the arc (.500) as
both led the team. He also was a team-best 12 of 15 from the line (.800), while averaging 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists
for the week. The 30-point or more outing Tuesday was Chavlovich's third of the season and eighth of his career.
Devin Pullum, Eastern New Mexico University, was sensational from beyond the arc this weekend for the Hounds.
The freshman knocked down nine three pointers on the weekend, including six against Tarleton State, the seventh-most
in a single game in school history. Against Texas A&M-Commerce and TSU, Pullum shot 60 percent from beyond the arc
and 63 percent from the field, scoring 19 and 24 points, respectively.
Willie Rooks, Texas A&M University-Commerce, was the leading scorer for the undefeated Lions. He had a career-
high 25 points in the Lions' 85-78 win over ENMU, shooting 57 percent and getting to the foul line six times. He also had
two assists and two blocks. He then had 14 points against WNMU in limited action in A&M-Commerce's 75-58 win over
the Mustangs, making four triples. Rooks is tied for sixth in the LSC in scoring during conference play.
Jaraan Lands, Tarleton State University, led Tarleton in scoring for the week at 18.5 points while also guiding the
Texans to a pair of conference wins. Lands had 10 points and six rebounds in an 85-59 victory over Western New
Mexico, the largest victory of the season for the Texans. Lands only had one turnover in 23 minutes and shot 57 percent
against the Mustangs. Lands followed with a career game in a come-from-behind 68-67 win over Eastern New Mexico.
Lands scored a career-high 27 points in only 25 minutes against the Greyhounds, while shooting 8-11 from the floor (73
percent). Lands scored 21 of his 27 points in the second half when the Texans trailed by as much as 10 to lead the
comeback. For the week, Lands averaged 18.5 points on 67 percent shooting, with 6 rebounds, 0.5 blocks and 1 steal.
Ja'Michael Brown, Angelo State University, once again led Angelo State's attack this week with 33 total points. This
averaged the junior guard 16.5 points for the pair of games. He was 11-22 (.500) from short range, 1-4 (.250) from
beyond the arch and 10-12 (.833) from the charity stripe. This included a 25-point game versus Midwestern State. In
addition, the point guard led the squad with 13 assists and six steals for the week, while pulling down a team second 10
boards.
Trey Sumpter, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, logged his first double-double of the season with 13 points and 10
rebounds in the 63-59 victory against Cameron University. Sumpter shot 62.5 percent from the floor and 50 percent
from downtown, helping the Javelinas start 2-0 in league play.
Jon-Reese Woodson, Western New Mexico, paced the team in almost every category in the two games against
Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce. He paced the team with 26 points, brought down 13 rebounds and also
added an assist, a block and three steals. He shot 43 percent from the field and went 8-9 at the foul line. Woodson was
close to a double-double against the Lions tallying 18 points and seven rebounds, making 6-12 from the field. He scored
eight points and grabbed six rebounds versus Tarleton State.
3. Sammy Allen, UT Permian Basin, grabbed double-digit rebounds (14) for the fourth time in five games as UTPB
defeated #8 West Texas A&M 106-100. Allen scored a season-high 23 points on 9-10 shooting on the night as one of four
Falcons in double-figures. He leads all LSC players averaging 11.1 rebounds per game this season.
Robert Stevenson, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, continues to be a problem in the paint for opponents this
season. He registered two blocks and pulled down seven defensive rebounds and a season-high ten total rebounds in
the 63-59 win over Cameron. Stevenson currently ranks third in the LSC with 18 total blocks.
Ryan Quaid, West Texas A&M University, recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 21 points and 11
rebounds at UT Permian Basin in Tuesday and followed that with 19 points and eight rebounds against Lubbock
Christian. Quaid went 13 of 23 from the field (.565) to lead the team, while going 1 of 2 from beyond the arc and 13 of
21 from the line (.619). He had four offensive rebounds and collected 15 on the defensive end for a 9.5 average, while
averaging 20 points for the two games. He had four blocks and two assists for the week.
Reggie Reid, Texas A&M University-Commerce, was a major factor in the Lions' two wins last week. He helped hold
opponents to just 39 percent shooting. He had three steals and averaged 6.5 rebounds to go along with 14.0 points and
6.0 assists. He had two steals against ENMU and seven defensive rebounds to go with 13 points and seven assists. He
also had a steal against WNMU with five defensive rebounds, 15 points and five assists. Reid is second in the LSC in both
assists and minutes played and is in the top 20 in scoring, steals and rebounding.
Brandon Williams, Angelo State University, headed the Angelo State defense this week grabbing a team high 13
boards. This averaged the senior captain 6.5 boards per contest. He also led the Rams with four blocks on the week.
Williams also added a steal to his totals for the week. Offensively, Williams sunk a team second 30 points as he dropped
double-figures in both of the Rams' games. He shot 70 percent from inside the arch as he hit 14-20.

Angelo State
Angelo State bounced back and went 2-0 on the week taking down Cameron and Midwestern State. The Rams now sit at
8-2, 2-1 in the conference. ASU will focus on final exams this coming week before hitting the road next week for a
rematch with Lubbock Christian on December 19 in Lubbock, Texas.

Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico men's basketball team went 0-2 on the weekend, dropping hard-fought contests to Texas
A&M-Commerce and Tarleton State on the road. The Greyhounds fall to 3-7 on the season and 0-4 in Lone Star
Conference action.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State dropped its fifth straight game 94-82 Thursday at Angelo State to fall ot 2-8 on the season and 0-3 in
LSC play... Angelo State is the fourth team to shoot better than 50 percent against Midwestern State this season. The
Rams 58.5-percent shooting night is the second highest allowed this season by the Mustangs... The Rams fired in 63.2
percent from the arc at 12-of-19... Midwestern State drained 10 3-pointers for the second time this season after hitting
4. 11 against St. Leo (Fla.)... Senior guard Devante Pullum went for a career-high 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting. The Little
Elm High School product has score 10-or-more points in each of his last five games... Junior forward Wanaah Bail was a
perfect 5-for-5 from the field and hit his first 3-pointer of the season to finish with a career-high 18 points. The lefty was
7-of-8 at the free throw line...
Tarleton State
2-0 last week.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions went 2-0 last weekend, knocking off Eastern New Mexico and Western New Mexico at home. The Lions are
still undefeated, sitting at 9-0. This is their best start to a season since 1947-48.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
The nationally-ranked Javelinas are back in the winning column after a 63-59 win over Cameron last week. TAMUK
improves its overall record to 9-1 and are 2-0 in LSC games. Trey Sumpter led the team with a double-double (13 points,
10 rebounds) and Robert Stevenson continues to be a mad man defensively, pulling down seven defensive rebounds (10
total) and recorded two blocks in the win. The Hogs will wrap up their non-conference schedule with rematches against
St. Edward's (Dec. 16) and St. Mary's (Dec. 19) before returning to league play on December 30 at home against
Midwestern State.
UT Permian Basin
No. 13 UT Permian Basin men's basketball picked up a top-10 win in its lone game of the week, defeating #8 West Texas
A&M 106-100. James McPherson led the Falcons with 31 points, shooting 5-10 from 3-point range and 10-20 overall to
go with four steals and eight rebounds. Daeshon Francis added 24 points while Sammy Allen hit 9-10 field goals to add
23 points with 14 rebounds. Josh Morris was 8-10 from the field with 17 points and nine rebounds is UTPB shot 54
percent as a team on the night.
West Texas A&M
The No. 8/9 West Texas A&M men's basketball team dropped its first game of the season at No. 13 UT Permian Basin on
Tuesday, 106-100...Despite the loss, the Buffs trailed by as many as 26, before an impressive comeback to cut the deficit
to six at the buzzer...The Buffs scored a season-high 67 points in the second half in the comeback...WT then returned
home for the first time since Thanksgiving hosting Lubbock Christian where the Buffs struggled offensively early, trailing
11-0 through the first four minutes...WT then caught fire and led 36-25 at half, outscoring the Chaps 36-13 the rest of
the half...LCU battled back in the second half for a one-point lead with seven minutes left, but the Buffs outscored LCU
13-2 over the next five minutes en route to the 82-72 win...Senior David Chavlovich scored 28 points in the game and hit
exactly 2,000 career points as he is the all-time scoring leader in school history...Chavlovich scored 23 of the 28 points in
the second half as he was 11 of 17 from the field and 5 of 6 from beyond the arc...WT won its 26th-straight home game
dating back to the 2015-16 season as the Buffs are tied for fourth nationally in longest home winning streaks...WT
snapped a three-game skid against Lubbock Christian and the Buffs head to Las Vegas to face Southern Indiana and
Rollins next Monday and Tuesday.
Western New Mexico
After a tough start to the week against Tarleton State, the Mustangs did their best to try and rally against the Lions,
making things interesting midway through the second half before Texas A&M-Commerce took the victory. Jon-Reese
Woodson led the way for the team in both scoring and rebounding, with CJ Vanbeekum providing a strong boost off the
5. bench with 15 points in 35 minutes. Woodson paced the team in almost every category in the two games against
Tarleton and A&M-C. He paced the team with 26 points, brought down 13 rebounds and also added an assist, a block
and three steals. He shot 43 percent from the field and went 8-9 at the foul line. Woodson was close to a double-double
against the Lions tallying 18 points and seven rebounds, making 6-12 from the field. He scored eight points and grabbed
six rebounds versus Tarleton.
