LSC MEN’S BASKETBALL
Angelo State, Tarleton State, and West Texas A&M remain unbeaten in Lone Star Conference play. ASU is also
undefeated this season at 8-0.
All LSC teams are now off for the NCAA Division II winter break before resuming play on December 29.
The LSC men have a 82-36 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s
teams are currently 21-5 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 14-4 against the Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Ridell Camidge, Tarleton State University, JR, Guard, Wilmington, NC, New Hanover HS
Camidge helped lead No. 15 Tarleton to a 3-0 week and also swept its games at the Holiday Hoops Classic in
Las Vegas. He averaged 20 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting 46 percent from the floor, 43
percent (12-28) on 3-pointers and made all four free-throw attempts. Camidge got warmed up with 17 points,
five rebounds and a career-high six assists in a 52-point win over Southwestern Adventist on Wednesday. The
Texans traveled to Las Vegas and opened with Simon Fraser, where he scored 16 points, dished out three assists
and had a career-high three steals in a 25-point win. Camidge saved the best for last in an upset win over No.
12 Western Washington. The junior guard poured in a career-high 27 points and scored the final six points -
including the game-winning and-1 layup with four seconds left - to lift the Texans to the 84-83 victory. Camidge
connected on a career-high six 3-pointers as he shot 60 percent from behind the arc in the win.
DEFENSIVE
Romond Jenkins, Tarleton State University, SR, Forward, Midwest City, OK, Douglass HS
Jenkins averaged a double-double over the week with 18.7 points and 14.7 rebounds as No. 15 Tarleton went
3-0. He also had a team-best eight steals and five blocks on the week. Jenkins shot 75 percent from the floor
and grabbed 44 rebounds (23 defensive, 21 offensive), which was 25 more than any other Texan. The senior
helped hold opponents to 66 points on 44 percent shooting. No team outrebounded Tarleton in the three
games, as Jenkins helped the Texans have a plus-47 rebound margin overall and plus-16 rebounds per game. He
had a career night against Southwestern Adventist by posting 24 points (11-13 shooting), grabbing 17 rebounds
and coming up with six steals - all career highs - in the 52-point win. In a 25-point win over Simon Fraser,
Jenkins had game highs with 18 points and 14 rebounds. He controlled the paint in upsetting No. 12 Western
Washington, pulling down 13 rebounds (7 offensive boards) and scoring 14 points. Jenkins was the only player
with more than eight rebounds in the game and also had two steals for the Texans. Tarleton improved to 7-0 on
the season when Jenkins records a double-double.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Malik Albert, Texas A&M University - Commerce, had a career-high 36 points against East Central. He was
unstoppable from the field, shooting 67 percent and 60 percent from behind the arc. He also got to the foul line
and converted 9-of-11 free throws. He had eight rebounds as well and was quick on the fast break for A&M-
Commerce. Albert racked up those career numbers in just 26 minutes of game play. He also had three steals
and a block on defense.
Quay King, Angelo State University, played a major role in the Rams success this week as the team went
undefeated in the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic out of Las Vegas, Nevada. The senior captain scored a total
of 45 points for the week averaging 22.5 points per game. He led the team from the arc with eight 3-pointers
in the two games. After scoring 17 points against Rollins College, King dropped a career high 28 points against
Simon Fraser (British Columbia, CA). This marked the most single game points scored by a Ram since Tommy
Woolridge scored 32 points against Cameron on January 25, 2014. The Atlanta native also greatly aided the ASU
defense grabbing a team second 15 total boards for a 7.5 rebounds per game average. He also pocketed a pair
of steals for the week.
Willie McCray, Western New Mexico, did all he could for the Mustangs against Arizona Christian as his big
first half had WNMU in the lead. He was the only Mustang in double-figures and made three three-pointers out
of his five field goals made. He also added four rebounds, four assists and two steals in 33 minutes.
David Chavlovich, West Texas A&M University, continued to make his way up WT’s all-time scoring list this
past weekend as the junior guided the #19 Buffs to a pair of wins at the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic in
Las Vegas, Nevada to run their wins streak to nine games. The Arlington native went 11-of-26 (42.3%) from the
field including 9-of-19 (47.4%) from deep and 8-of-11 (72.7%) from the free throw line to go along with eight
rebounds, 13 assists and three steals. Chavlovich was named the Most Outstanding Player at the South Point
Holiday Hoops Classic as he averaged 19.5 points per game for the Buffs in wins over #12 Western Washington
and Rollins. The junior scored 19 points on Sunday afternoon in a Top-20 matchup with Western Washington
followed by a 20 point performance against Rollins on Monday.
Thomas Tshikaya, Angelo State University, once again led the Angelo State and its defense to an undefeated
week in Las Vegas. The senior leader out of France headed the team with 20 total rebounds for a 10 rebound
per game average. This helped to hold the Rams opponents to a .388 field goal percentage and a scoring
average of 69 points for the week. He also led the squad with a pair of blocked shots for the week. On the other
side of the court the big man sank 38 total points over the two games scoring 19 points in each of the two
games. Both marked season highs for Tshikaya and was his second highest single game point total as he was

only one point away from tying his career high of 20 points at Texas A&M - Commerce on February 13, 2016.
Against Rollins Tshikaya recorded his third double-double of the 2016-17 season.
Latrell Spivey, Western New Mexico, did what he always does for the Mustangs as he led the team in
rebounding with nine, including six on the defensive end. He also added seven points and an assist in 32
minutes. He has either led or tied for the team lead in rebounds in nine games this year.
Eric Golightly Jr., West Texas A&M University, had a standout weekend at the South Point Holiday Hoops
Classic as the senior led the #19 Buffs to wins over #12 Western Washington and Rollins to run WT’s win streak
to nine games to improve to 14-1 overall. The senior went 7-of-14 (50%) from the floor including 4-of-6 (66.7%)
from deep and 8-of-10 (80%) from the free throw line to go along with 12 rebounds (6.5/game). The Chickasha
native registered 11 points and seven rebounds against Rollins on Monday afternoon in a 89-68 win.

Angelo State
No. 8/10 Angelo State remained undefeated this week as it moved to 8-0, 1-0 LSC. This was the Rams second
consecutive showing in the South Point Holiday Classic out of Las Vegas, Nevada. ASU will take on Dallas
Christian on December 28 before continuing its conference schedule with a road match up against Cameron
on New Year’s Eve. The team will then return home to Face Tarleton State on January 5 and Texas A&M -
Commerce on January 7 in the Stephens Arena at the Junell Center.

Tarleton State
No. 15 Tarleton improved to 11-1 after going 3-0 against Southwestern Adventist, and getting a pair of wins
in Las Vegas for the Holiday Hoops Classic against Simon Fraser and No. 12 Western Washington. Tarleton has
won eight straight games. The Texans topped SWAU 106-54 in which Romond Jenkins had 24 points and 17
rebounds. In the 25-point win over Simon Fraser, Tarleton had five players score in double figures. The Texans
topped No. 12 Western Washington in the top-15 matchup when Ridell Camidge, who scored a career-high 27
points, had a game-winning 3-point play to lift the Texans to a win. Tarleton improved to 7-1 all-time at the
Holiday Hoops Classic. The Texans will take on Ouachita Baptist on Dec. 31 at 4 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions lost a close game down the stretch against East Central last week. Malik Albert set the arena on fire,
shooting 67 percent from the field for a career high 36 points in just 26 minutes. Foul trouble hindered what
might have been an even larger scoring performance. The Lions are now 9-2 heading into the holiday break.
They return to action on Dec. 30 in a rematch against Southern Arkansas. The Lions beat SAU in Commerce
early in the season. The Lions will then resume conference play on Jan. 5 against Texas A&M-Kingsville.

West Texas A&M
The #19 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M ran their win streak to nine games this past weekend as they went 2-0
at the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas with wins over #12 Western Washington and Rollins to
improve to 14-1 overall for the program’s best start to a season since 2010-11. Joesph Prince was named to the
South Point Holiday Hoops Classic All-Tournament team as the senior averaged 14.5 points per game including
an 18 point outing against Rollins. David Chavlovich was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player,
averaging 19.5 points per game during the event. The Buffs will now take part in the NCAA holiday break before
taking on the NAIA’s #5 Stars of Oklahoma City (10-1, 2-0 SAC) on New Year’s Eve at the First United Bank Center
in Canyon with tipoff set for 1 p.m.
Western New Mexico
WNMU played their last game before the holiday break in falling to Arizona Christian. The Mustangs will face
Benedictine-Mesa for the second time this year when they return to play on Dec. 30. Willie McCray and Latrell
Spivey had strong performances against the Firestorm. McCray did all he could for the Mustangs against
Arizona Christian as his big first half had WNMU in the lead. He was the only Mustang in double-figures and
made three three-pointers out of his five field goals made. He also added four rebounds, four assists and two
steals in 33 minutes. Spivey did what he always does for the Mustangs as he led the team in rebounding with
nine, including six on the defensive end. He also added seven points and an assist in 32 minutes. He has either
led or tied for the team lead in rebounds in nine games this year.

LSC Men's Basketball Weekly Release (12/20/16)

  • 1. LSC MEN’S BASKETBALL Angelo State, Tarleton State, and West Texas A&M remain unbeaten in Lone Star Conference play. ASU is also undefeated this season at 8-0. All LSC teams are now off for the NCAA Division II winter break before resuming play on December 29. The LSC men have a 82-36 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s teams are currently 21-5 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 14-4 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. PLAYERS OF THE WEEK OFFENSIVE Ridell Camidge, Tarleton State University, JR, Guard, Wilmington, NC, New Hanover HS Camidge helped lead No. 15 Tarleton to a 3-0 week and also swept its games at the Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas. He averaged 20 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting 46 percent from the floor, 43 percent (12-28) on 3-pointers and made all four free-throw attempts. Camidge got warmed up with 17 points, five rebounds and a career-high six assists in a 52-point win over Southwestern Adventist on Wednesday. The Texans traveled to Las Vegas and opened with Simon Fraser, where he scored 16 points, dished out three assists and had a career-high three steals in a 25-point win. Camidge saved the best for last in an upset win over No. 12 Western Washington. The junior guard poured in a career-high 27 points and scored the final six points - including the game-winning and-1 layup with four seconds left - to lift the Texans to the 84-83 victory. Camidge connected on a career-high six 3-pointers as he shot 60 percent from behind the arc in the win. DEFENSIVE Romond Jenkins, Tarleton State University, SR, Forward, Midwest City, OK, Douglass HS Jenkins averaged a double-double over the week with 18.7 points and 14.7 rebounds as No. 15 Tarleton went 3-0. He also had a team-best eight steals and five blocks on the week. Jenkins shot 75 percent from the floor and grabbed 44 rebounds (23 defensive, 21 offensive), which was 25 more than any other Texan. The senior helped hold opponents to 66 points on 44 percent shooting. No team outrebounded Tarleton in the three games, as Jenkins helped the Texans have a plus-47 rebound margin overall and plus-16 rebounds per game. He had a career night against Southwestern Adventist by posting 24 points (11-13 shooting), grabbing 17 rebounds and coming up with six steals - all career highs - in the 52-point win. In a 25-point win over Simon Fraser, Jenkins had game highs with 18 points and 14 rebounds. He controlled the paint in upsetting No. 12 Western Washington, pulling down 13 rebounds (7 offensive boards) and scoring 14 points. Jenkins was the only player with more than eight rebounds in the game and also had two steals for the Texans. Tarleton improved to 7-0 on the season when Jenkins records a double-double. OTHER TOP PERFORMERS Malik Albert, Texas A&M University - Commerce, had a career-high 36 points against East Central. He was unstoppable from the field, shooting 67 percent and 60 percent from behind the arc. He also got to the foul line and converted 9-of-11 free throws. He had eight rebounds as well and was quick on the fast break for A&M- Commerce. Albert racked up those career numbers in just 26 minutes of game play. He also had three steals and a block on defense. Quay King, Angelo State University, played a major role in the Rams success this week as the team went undefeated in the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic out of Las Vegas, Nevada. The senior captain scored a total of 45 points for the week averaging 22.5 points per game. He led the team from the arc with eight 3-pointers in the two games. After scoring 17 points against Rollins College, King dropped a career high 28 points against Simon Fraser (British Columbia, CA). This marked the most single game points scored by a Ram since Tommy Woolridge scored 32 points against Cameron on January 25, 2014. The Atlanta native also greatly aided the ASU defense grabbing a team second 15 total boards for a 7.5 rebounds per game average. He also pocketed a pair of steals for the week. Willie McCray, Western New Mexico, did all he could for the Mustangs against Arizona Christian as his big first half had WNMU in the lead. He was the only Mustang in double-figures and made three three-pointers out of his five field goals made. He also added four rebounds, four assists and two steals in 33 minutes. David Chavlovich, West Texas A&M University, continued to make his way up WT’s all-time scoring list this past weekend as the junior guided the #19 Buffs to a pair of wins at the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada to run their wins streak to nine games. The Arlington native went 11-of-26 (42.3%) from the field including 9-of-19 (47.4%) from deep and 8-of-11 (72.7%) from the free throw line to go along with eight rebounds, 13 assists and three steals. Chavlovich was named the Most Outstanding Player at the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic as he averaged 19.5 points per game for the Buffs in wins over #12 Western Washington and Rollins. The junior scored 19 points on Sunday afternoon in a Top-20 matchup with Western Washington followed by a 20 point performance against Rollins on Monday. Thomas Tshikaya, Angelo State University, once again led the Angelo State and its defense to an undefeated week in Las Vegas. The senior leader out of France headed the team with 20 total rebounds for a 10 rebound per game average. This helped to hold the Rams opponents to a .388 field goal percentage and a scoring average of 69 points for the week. He also led the squad with a pair of blocked shots for the week. On the other side of the court the big man sank 38 total points over the two games scoring 19 points in each of the two games. Eric Golightly Jr., West Texas A&M University, had a standout weekend at the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic as the senior led the #19 Buffs to wins over #12 Western Washington and Rollins to run WT’s win streak to nine games to improve to 14-1 overall. The senior went 7-of-14 (50%) from the floor including 4-of-6 (66.7%) from deep and 8-of-10 (80%) from the free throw line to go along with 12 rebounds (6.5/game). The Chickasha native registered 11 points and seven rebounds against Rollins on Monday afternoon in a 89-68 win. LSC NOTES (Submitted by LSC SID’s) Angelo State No. 8/10 Angelo State remained undefeated this week as it moved to 8-0, 1-0 LSC. This was the Rams second consecutive showing in the South Point Holiday Classic out of Las Vegas, Nevada. ASU will take on Dallas Christian on December 28 before continuing its conference schedule with a road match up against Cameron on New Year’s Eve. The team will then return home to Face Tarleton State on January 5 and Texas A&M - Commerce on January 7 in the Stephens Arena at the Junell Center. Cameron 1-1 last week. Eastern New Mexico 1-0 last week. Midwestern State 2-0 last week. Tarleton State No. 15 Tarleton improved to 11-1 after going 3-0 against Southwestern Adventist, and getting a pair of wins in Las Vegas for the Holiday Hoops Classic against Simon Fraser and No. 12 Western Washington. Tarleton has won eight straight games. The Texans topped SWAU 106-54 in which Romond Jenkins had 24 points and 17 rebounds. In the 25-point win over Simon Fraser, Tarleton had five players score in double figures. The Texans topped No. 12 Western Washington in the top-15 matchup when Ridell Camidge, who scored a career-high 27 points, had a game-winning 3-point play to lift the Texans to a win. Tarleton improved to 7-1 all-time at the Holiday Hoops Classic. The Texans will take on Ouachita Baptist on Dec. 31 at 4 p.m. in Wisdom Gym. Texas A&M-Commerce The Lions lost a close game down the stretch against East Central last week. Malik Albert set the arena on fire, shooting 67 percent from the field for a career high 36 points in just 26 minutes. Foul trouble hindered what might have been an even larger scoring performance. The Lions are now 9-2 heading into the holiday break. They return to action on Dec. 30 in a rematch against Southern Arkansas. The Lions beat SAU in Commerce early in the season. West Texas A&M The #19 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M ran their win streak to nine games this past weekend as they went 2-0 at the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas with wins over #12 Western Washington and Rollins to improve to 14-1 overall for the program’s best start to a season since 2010-11. Joesph Prince was named to the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic All-Tournament team as the senior averaged 14.5 points per game including an 18 point outing against Rollins. David Chavlovich was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, averaging 19.5 points per game during the event. The Buffs will now take part in the NCAA holiday break before taking on the NAIA’s #5 Stars of Oklahoma City (10-1, 2-0 SAC) on New Year’s Eve at the First United Bank Center in Canyon with tipoff set for 1 p.m. Western New Mexico WNMU played their last game before the holiday break in falling to Arizona Christian.
