LSC FOOTBALL
Midwestern State improved to 6-0 overall for the second consecu ve year and for the fourth me in school
history to stay atop the Lone Star Conference standings. Texas A&M-Commerce and Tarleton State also posted
wins to remain a game behind MSU in league play.
Six games are scheduled for this week with four LSC games and a pair of non-conference contests.
LSC football teams are 35-33 overall this season. The squads are 3-3 combined versus the Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athle c Conference, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Rocky Mountain Athle c Conference
teams, which are also in NCAA Super Regional Four.
LSC FOOTBALL ON ESPN3
A pair of Lone Star Conference football games are part of the 2016 Division II Football Showcase schedule and
were broadcast on ESPN3 and WatchESPN.
For a second straight season, A&M-Commerce hosted a na onal broadcast on October 8 as the Lions hosted
Midwestern State.
UT Permian Basin welcomed West Texas A&M in the Falconā€™s ļ¬rst LSC football game in the programā€™s ini al
season. Due to inclement weather the game was postponed and was not broadcast as scheduled.
NCAA Division II announced 18 of the 22 regular-season football games that will be carried on ESPN3,
WatchESPN and American Sports Network, a er the division entered a three-year agreement in 2015 to
deliver Division II athle cs events. By comparison, only seven games were televised in each of the 2013 and
2014 seasons.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Ben Arbuckle, West Texas A&M University, SO, QB, Canadian, Texas, Canadian HS
Arbuckle had a career day in a 42-14 win at Oklahoma Panhandle State as he threw a career-best six touchdown
passes accoun ng for all of the points by the Buļ¬€s. The six TD strikes were the most by a Buļ¬€ in a game
since Dus n Vaughan threw six against West Georgia (2013) and matched the second-most passing TDs in
Division II this season. Arbuckle, in his ļ¬rst collegiate start, missed just 12 passes on the day (30-for-42) with
no intercep ons.
DEFENSIVE
Treston Ridge, Tarleton State University, SR, S, Waco, Texas, La Vega HS
Ridge sealed Tarletonā€™s 26-16 victory against Eastern New Mexico in Portales last Saturday with two
intercep ons on the ļ¬nal four drives of the game for the Greyhounds. With Tarleton leading 26-10 with just
over nine minutes le in the game, ENMU went to the air looking for an answer. The Greyhounds turned to a
ļ¬‚ea-ļ¬‚icker but Ridge had other ideas as the senior safety made a diving intercep on to stop that drive. Two
drives later with ENMU looking to pull within one possession, Ridge put the win on ice by stepping in front of
the Greyhounds receiver with 2:02 le in the game for his second intercep on of the a ernoon. He became the
ļ¬rst Texan with mul ple intercep ons in a game since Charles Moore against McMurry on October 25, 2014.
Ridge added nine tackles for the Texans.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Hector Dominguez, Texas A&M University - Commerce, SR, P, Monterey Park, Calif., Monterey Park HS
Dominguez had four punts for an average of 60.2 yards in the No. 9 Lionsā€™ win at Western New Mexico, which
is the highest in Division II this season. He is also the only punter in all four NCAA football divisions to average
over 60 yards per punt with more than two punts in a game this season. Dominguez had punts of 70, 54, 57,
and 60 yards.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Aaron Johnson, Eastern New Mexico University, hauled in seven recep ons for a career-best 195 yards
against Tarleton State. In the fourth quarter, most of the yardage on his 80-yard touchdown came a er the
catch. The touchdown came on a second-and-34 play from the Greyhound 20-yard line. Johnson also had a
22-yard catch on a third-and-11 play in the ļ¬rst quarter. The game marked Johnsonā€™s second straight 100-yard
game and the third of the season.
Richard Cooper, Texas A&M University - Commerce, totaled 216 all-purpose yards in the No. 9 Lionsā€™ 38-24
win at WNMU... With his 182 rushing yards, he is now the leading rusher in the conference at 123.0 yards per
game, with a 130.2 yards per game average in conference play... His receiving touchdown in the fourth quarter
put the cap on the 14-point win... He averaged 7.6 yards per carry and 7.7 yards per touch...
Josh Stevens, Angelo State University, rushed for at least 100 yards for the third me this season. The junior
carried the ball 22 mes for 109 yards and a career high two touchdowns. He broke one run for 49 yards for a
touchdown and averaged 5.0 yards per carry.
Quade Coward, Midwestern State University, engineered his fourth career game winning scoring drive with
less than a minute to play to lead No. 4 Midwestern State to a 28-21 win over Angelo State Saturday at Memorial
Stadium. The senior from Cleburne need just four plays and 30 seconds to guide the Mustangs 77 yards for
the winning score -- a 10-yard strike to Jerryl Yarbrough -- with 16 seconds to go. Coward went a perfect 4-for-

22 and 37 yards to set up Dante Taylor on an 8-yard
swing pass to put MSU in prime posi on. Coward
logged his ļ¬ h 200-yard passing day of the campaign
going 20-of-34 for 271 yards and three touchdowns
including strikes of 18 and 57 to DeAndre Black in the
ļ¬rst half. Coward set up a game winning ļ¬eld goal
with 12 seconds to play in a 32-30 victory over Texas
A&M-Kingsville earlier this season then combined for
two TD strikes to Breion Evans in last weekā€™s 26-25
win at No. 4 Texas A&M-Commerce with the winner
coming with 28.3 seconds to play. Coward also scored
a winning touchdown with 21 seconds to play last
season against Eastern New Mexico.
Myles Carr, Texas A&M University - Kingsville,
tossed four touchdowns in Texas A&M-Kingsvilleā€™s
56-7 victory over UT Permian Basin, comple ng 19-
of-28 passes for 271 yards... the senior ed his career-
high with the four TD passes.
Javia Hall, Western New Mexico, threw for his
second straight 400 yard game this past Saturday
going for 413 against No. 9 Texas A&M-Commerce.
He completed 31 of 50 passes and added a pair of
touchdowns, with a long pass of 66 yards. Xavier
Ayers and Henry Norman had big receiving games
with Ayers going for 123 on 12 catches and Norman
with 117 on four grabs. Rodney Lawson and Treydonte
Hill each had a TD recep on.
Delā€™Michael High, Tarleton State University,
con nues to dominate opposing secondary units as
the junior wide receiver went for 125 yards on eight
catches, including two for touchdowns in Tarletonā€™s
26-16 road win at Eastern New Mexico Saturday
a ernoon. High found the end zone for the ļ¬rst me
when he went up and pulled down a 28-yard score
over two defenders to put Tarleton on top 13-7 in
the second quarter. High struck again in the third
quarter to ul mately put the game out of reach with
a 12-yard touchdown to put Tarleton on top 23-10.
He is the ļ¬rst player this season to have more than
one receiving touchdown in a game against the
Greyhounds.
Dominic Barry, Western New Mexico, led the team
again in tackles with 11, including four solo stops, a
tackle for loss and two quarterback hurries.
Desmond Blue, Eastern New Mexico University,
paced the Greyhound defense with 10 tackles,
which included 2.5 for a loss against Tarleton State.
His constant pressure throughout the game helped
the Greyhounds register two intercep ons in ENMU
territory during the game. He ļ¬nished with 1.5 sacks,
which included a third-down sack deep in Greyhound
territory. Blueā€™s performance helped limit the Texans
to 26 points, despite ļ¬ve turnovers.
Uriah Harris, Texas A&M University - Commerce,
led the No. 9 Lions in tackles for the second
consecu ve game in the 38-24 win at WNMU... He
made eight stops, including 1.5 tackles for loss from
his cornerback posi on...
Jordan Meyers, Midwestern State University,
notched a season-high seven tackles to help No.
4-rankedMidwesternStatetoa28-21winoverAngelo
State Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. The 5-9,
190-pound seniorā€™s blitz on the Ramsā€™ opening drive
resulted in a DaMarcus Wilson intercep on as the
Mustangs built a 21-0 hal ime lead. Meyers broke up
two passes and had quarterback hurry.
Forrest Jones, Texas A&M University - Kingsville,
was all over the ļ¬eld in Saturdayā€™s 56-7 victory,
tallying four total tackles, a 32 yard intercep on, a
forced fumble and a fumble recovery... the Javelina
defense limited the Falcons to just 208 total yards on
oļ¬€ense.
Josh Carroll, West Texas A&M University, had a
great day for the Buļ¬€s with four solo tackles and led
the team with two tackles for loss and two sacks for
eight yards. The Buļ¬€s tallied a season-high six sacks
in the game for 30 yards and eight tackles for loss
for 33 yards. Carrollā€™s four tackles marked a career-
best and also a career-best in solo tackles, while he
recorded his ļ¬rst two tackles for loss and sacks of his
career.
Riley Smith, West Texas A&M University, had
three kickoļ¬€ returns for 107 yards and a career-best
70-yard return in the Buļ¬€sā€™ 42-14 win at Oklahoma
Panhandle State Saturday. The 70-yarder marked a
season-high for the Buļ¬€s for a kick return. He also
added two catches for 17 yards and ed for ļ¬rst on
the team in the game in all-purpose yards with 124.
Tyler Vargas, Western New Mexico, had a strong
day in the kicking department as he connected on all
three extra point tries and also nailed a 40-yard ļ¬eld
goal. He averaged 47.8 yards on ļ¬ve punt a empts,
with a long of 54, two that went 50-plus and one
inside the 20. On kickoļ¬€s he had ļ¬ve that averaged
59 yards with two touchbacks.
Casey Eyman, Angelo State University, punted the
ball nine mes against Midwestern State pinning
ļ¬ve inside the 20 yard line to help the Rams in ļ¬eld
posi on. He averaged 39.0 yards per punt with a
season long of 57 yards.
Ron Reid, Tarleton State University, played a huge
role in Tarletonā€™s win over Eastern New Mexico by
helping Tarleton in the ļ¬eld posi on game with three
of his ļ¬ve punts pinning the Greyhounds inside their
own 20-yard line. Reid averaged 32.2 yards per punt
on the a ernoon with a long of 48.
Julio De la Garza, Texas A&M University - Kingsville,
did not a empt a ļ¬eld goal in Texas A&M-Kingsvilleā€™s
56-7 victory over UT Permian Basin Saturday, but he
did drain all eight PATs and recovered his own onside
kick in the ļ¬rst half that led to a Javelina touchdown.

LSC ... Josh Stevens gained at least 100 yards for the

rushing and only 141 yards in the second half ... ASU
held MSU to just 2-of-17 on third down conversions
... The Rams will host A&M-C on Saturday, Oct. 22 at
6 p.m. at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit
Union Stadium.
Eastern New Mexico
Eastern New Mexico made a strong defensive
showing on Saturday, and had a big performance
from wide receiver Aaron Johnson against Tarleton
State. ENMUā€™s defense forced turnovers in its own
territory on intercep ons from Todd Countee and
Charles Countee. Desmond Blue ļ¬nished with
1.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles for a loss. For the game,
the Hounds limited Tarleton State to six-for-17 on
third-down conversions. Johnson hauled in seven
recep ons for 195 yards, with an 80-yard touchdown
grab in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Wya Strand
passed for a career-high 265 yards and rushed for 39
more. This week, ENMU will host Bacone College in a
non-conference game.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State improved to 6-0 for the second
consecu ve season taking a 28-21 win over Angelo
State Saturday night at Memorial Stadium... Three

Midwestern State clinched its 17th consecu ve
winning season with the win over Angelo State. The
Mustangs are one of only two four-year schools in
the State of Texas to boast as long of a streak as they
were joined by NCAA Division III power Mary Hardin-
Baylor, which also improved to 6-0 Saturday with a
59-22 win oat East Texas Bap st... The Mustangs
improved to 6-0 for the second consecu ve year and
for the fourth me in school history. MSU started
the 2011 season with 10 straight wins, were 7-0 in
2015 and 6-0 in 1949... Midwestern State has won
15 of its last 16 regular season games da ng back to
the start of last season. Itā€™s best regular season run
since winning 19 of 20 between 2011 and 2012... The
Mustangs have won 34 of their last 37 regular season
games da ng back to the start of the 2008 season...
Junior DeAndre Black ļ¬nished with a season-high
92 receiving yards scoring two touchdowns (18, 57)
on three recep ons... Midwestern State was held to
a season low 115 rushing yards led by sophomore
Vincent Johnson with 62 yards on 16 carries...
Johnson became the 19th rusher in school history
to eclipse 1,000 yards and moved into 18th place
with 1,046 yards... Sophomore safety Sirā€™Vell Ford
matched a career high with 11 tackles to lead the
MSU defense... Redshirt-freshman DaMarcus Wilson
snagged his second collegiate intercep on in the ļ¬rst
quarter... Freshman safety Jaydon Cunigan made
four tackles in his ļ¬rst collegiate start... Sophomore
Cameron McEnturļ¬€ recorded his team-best third sack
of the season in the ļ¬rst half... Senior rover Jordan
Meyers made a season-high seven tackles with 1.5
stops for loss, two pass breakups and a quarterback

Tarleton State
Tarleton won its third consecu ve game Saturday
with a 26-16 win over Eastern New Mexico in Portales.
The wide receiver combina on of Jeļ¬€ Thomas and
Delā€™Michael High combined for 17 catches, 269 yards,
and three touchdowns while the defense held the
Greyhounds to 100 yards under their season rushing
average and forced ļ¬ve turnovers in the win. The
Texans will return to Stephenville on October 22 for
the annual homecoming game against Texas A&M-
Kingsville at 6 p.m.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The No. 9 Lions picked up four turnovers and had 521
yards of total oļ¬€ense in a 38-24 win at Western New
Mexico... A&M-Commerce is now 6-1 overall and 4-1
in the LSC... The Lions were ranked 9th in both the
AFCA & D2Football.com polls... Running back Richard
Cooper had 216 total yards, with 182 rushing yards
on 24 carries and four recep ons for 34 yards and
a touchdown... Quarterback Luis Perez completed
22-of-35 passes for 319 yards with four touchdowns
and two intercep ons... Darby Smith had ļ¬ve catches
for 120 yards and a touchdown. Lance Evans had
six catches for 89 yards and a score... Punter Hector
Dominguez averaged 60.25 yards on four punts, with
a 70-yarder... Kicker Kristov Mar nez made a 44-yard
ļ¬eld goal and was 5-for-5 on PATs... Shawn Hooks
returned the ļ¬rst punt of the game 79 yards for a
touchdown... The Lions turned the Mustangs over
four mes, with Brucks Saathoļ¬€, Cameron Rogers
and Brent Walker earning intercep ons... A&M-
Commerce now has 11 intercep ons on the season
from 10 players. Walker is the only Lion with mul ple
intercep ons... Uriah Harris had eight tackles to lead
the team, also notching a tackle for loss... Tavita Faaiu
was in on both of the Lionsā€™ sacks... The Lions travel to
Angelo State for a 6 p.m. kickoļ¬€ on Saturday, October

Texas A&M-Kingsville earned back-to-back LSC
victories for the ļ¬rst me since 2012, defea ng
UT Permian Basin 56-7... in the win, Nick Pelrean
accounted for three touchdowns and the Hogs
defense limited the Falcons to under 300 total yards
on oļ¬€ense.

The West Texas A&M football team snapped a two-
game losing skid with a commanding 42-14 win at
Oklahoma Panhandle State Saturday as sophomore
quarterback Ben Arbuckle made his ļ¬rst carer start
and threw six touchdown passes in the game and four
to junior wide receiver Junior Pomeā€™e...It was the ļ¬rst
me since 2013 a Buļ¬€ player threw six touchdown
passes in a game (Dus n Vaughan vs. West Georgia)...
Senior Christ Gilchrist and senior Devon Paye caught
the other two touchdowns...Arbuckle was 30 for
42 for 295 yards and no intercep ons in the game,
while the Buļ¬€s rushed for over 100 yards for the ļ¬rst
me since Sept. 24 with 117 yards against Oklahoma
Panhandle State...it was just the third me the Buļ¬€s
rushed over 100 yards this season...Pomeā€™e caught
11 ball for a career-best 124 yards in the game, while
junior Riley Smith had three kick returns for 107 yards
which marked a career-best for him...Junior punter
John Cummings had just one punt in the game and the
Buļ¬€s had two in the contest as Cummingsā€™ punt went
a career-best 69 yards...Arbuckle had a rugby punt for

Kimbrough Memorial Stadium Saturday at 6 p.m...WT
leads the season-series in the Highway 287 Challenge
2-1 with wins in volleyball and womenā€™s soccer so far,
while MSU won in menā€™s soccer.
Western New Mexico
The Mustangs gave No. 9 Texas A&M-Commerce
everything they could handle in piling up nearly 500
yards and 24 points. Outside of top performances by
Javia Hall, Dominic Barry and Tyler Vargas, Ian Davis
picked up his third intercep on of the season and
Immanuel Dangerļ¬eld collected a fumble recovery.
Hall threw for his second straight 400 yard game,

  • 1. LSC FOOTBALL Midwestern State improved to 6-0 overall for the second consecu ve year and for the fourth me in school history to stay atop the Lone Star Conference standings. Texas A&M-Commerce and Tarleton State also posted wins to remain a game behind MSU in league play. Six games are scheduled for this week with four LSC games and a pair of non-conference contests. LSC football teams are 35-33 overall this season. The squads are 3-3 combined versus the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athle c Conference, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Rocky Mountain Athle c Conference teams, which are also in NCAA Super Regional Four. LSC FOOTBALL ON ESPN3 A pair of Lone Star Conference football games are part of the 2016 Division II Football Showcase schedule and were broadcast on ESPN3 and WatchESPN. For a second straight season, A&M-Commerce hosted a na onal broadcast on October 8 as the Lions hosted Midwestern State. UT Permian Basin welcomed West Texas A&M in the Falconā€™s ļ¬rst LSC football game in the programā€™s ini al season. Due to inclement weather the game was postponed and was not broadcast as scheduled. NCAA Division II announced 18 of the 22 regular-season football games that will be carried on ESPN3, WatchESPN and American Sports Network, a er the division entered a three-year agreement in 2015 to deliver Division II athle cs events. By comparison, only seven games were televised in each of the 2013 and 2014 seasons. PLAYERS OF THE WEEK OFFENSIVE Ben Arbuckle, West Texas A&M University, SO, QB, Canadian, Texas, Canadian HS Arbuckle had a career day in a 42-14 win at Oklahoma Panhandle State as he threw a career-best six touchdown passes accoun ng for all of the points by the Buļ¬€s. The six TD strikes were the most by a Buļ¬€ in a game since Dus n Vaughan threw six against West Georgia (2013) and matched the second-most passing TDs in Division II this season. Arbuckle, in his ļ¬rst collegiate start, missed just 12 passes on the day (30-for-42) with no intercep ons. DEFENSIVE Treston Ridge, Tarleton State University, SR, S, Waco, Texas, La Vega HS Ridge sealed Tarletonā€™s 26-16 victory against Eastern New Mexico in Portales last Saturday with two intercep ons on the ļ¬nal four drives of the game for the Greyhounds. With Tarleton leading 26-10 with just over nine minutes le in the game, ENMU went to the air looking for an answer. The Greyhounds turned to a ļ¬‚ea-ļ¬‚icker but Ridge had other ideas as the senior safety made a diving intercep on to stop that drive. Two drives later with ENMU looking to pull within one possession, Ridge put the win on ice by stepping in front of the Greyhounds receiver with 2:02 le in the game for his second intercep on of the a ernoon. He became the ļ¬rst Texan with mul ple intercep ons in a game since Charles Moore against McMurry on October 25, 2014. Ridge added nine tackles for the Texans. SPECIAL TEAMS Hector Dominguez, Texas A&M University - Commerce, SR, P, Monterey Park, Calif., Monterey Park HS Dominguez had four punts for an average of 60.2 yards in the No. 9 Lionsā€™ win at Western New Mexico, which is the highest in Division II this season. He is also the only punter in all four NCAA football divisions to average over 60 yards per punt with more than two punts in a game this season. Dominguez had punts of 70, 54, 57, and 60 yards. OTHER TOP PERFORMERS Aaron Johnson, Eastern New Mexico University, hauled in seven recep ons for a career-best 195 yards against Tarleton State. In the fourth quarter, most of the yardage on his 80-yard touchdown came a er the catch. The touchdown came on a second-and-34 play from the Greyhound 20-yard line. Johnson also had a 22-yard catch on a third-and-11 play in the ļ¬rst quarter. The game marked Johnsonā€™s second straight 100-yard game and the third of the season.
