PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Xavier Turner, Tarleton State University, JR, RB, N. Richland Hills, Texas, Birdville HS
Turner had a record afternoon for the Texans as Tarleton's best offensive performance of the season forced No. 4
Midwestern State to overtime before falling in a 45-42 heartbreaker. Turner accounted for four of Tarleton's six
2. touchdowns on the afternoon and became the second player in the school's senior college history to have a passing,
receiving, and rushing touchdown in the same game, joining only QB Steve Kelly in 2001. His pass was a three-yard toss
off a direct snap as the junior found Del'Michael High in the corner for Tarleton's first score of the game. He would go on
to add a 78-yard touchdown reception, the longest of his career, a 14-yard rushing score, and a three-yard score late in
the fourth quarter. With Tarleton trailing 42-28 and 9:17 left on the clock, Turner made it a one-possession game when
he turned two rushes into 13 yards and a touchdown to bring the Texans within one score at the 8:04 mark. After
Midwestern State was unable to convert on its possession, Turner had two rushes for 12 yards and a 10-yard reception
on Tarleton's final drive to help the Texans tie the game at 42-42. For the game, he ran for a career-high 147 yards on 21
carries and two scores while hauling in six catches for 92 yards, also a career high, and a touchdown.
DEFENSIVE
Markus Jones, Angelo State University, JR, DE, Crowley, Texas, Crowley HS
Jones was a force defensively for the Rams limiting West Texas A&M to just 103 yards of total offense in the 51-3
victory. The junior recorded nine total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He forced two fumbles from his
defensive end position. The 103 yards of total offense is the fewest allowed since 1999.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Ian Davis, Western New Mexico, SR, Coverage, Grass Valley, Calif., Nevada Union HS
Davis set the tone for Western New Mexico right away as he blocked a punt attempt and then returned the block 20
yards for a touchdown for the early 7-0 lead four minutes into the contest. He also had an interception before halftime,
a solo tackle and a pass broken up in the 35-23 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Layton Rabb, Midwestern State University, passed for a school record 433 yards and three touchdowns to lead No.
4-ranked Midwestern State to a 45-42 win over Tarleton State Saturday at Memorial Stadium to clinch at least a share of
MSU's fourth Lone Star Conference championship. The junior Llano completed 26-of-45 passes including TD strikes to
D.J. Myers (30), DeAndre Black (53) and Tyler Milliken (24) to polish off his third passing day of at least 300 yards this
season.
Vincent Hobbs, Texas A&M University-Commerce, had two touchdown receptions in the No. 9 Lions' 52-0 rout of UT
Permian Basin. His 74-yard catch and run for a touchdown included him shedding a tackler early in the play. He led 10
Lion receivers as the Lions moved up to No. 1 in the nation in passing offense. The 144 yards was a career best.
Johnny Smith, Eastern New Mexico University, just five days after rushing for a career-high 93 yards against Texas
A&M-Kingsville, nearly doubled that total. The sophomore running back rushed for 173 yards in the Greyhounds' 45-24
win over West Liberty University. Smith finished with touchdown runs of 17, 55 and 18 yards and finished with an
incredible 19.2 yards per carry. Six of his nine carries went for 16 yards or more. Smith also made a tackle on an ENMU
kickoff.
Justin Harris, Western New Mexico, got loose for 153 yards on 25 carries and a touchdown to average 6.1 yards per
attempt in leading the Mustangs to the 35-23 win over the Javelinas. He also added two catches for seven yards. Harris'
long carry of 52 yards went for a score to help move WNMU to a 28-10 lead at halftime. It was a season-high in rushing
yards on the season for Harris and the second time he has gone for over 100 yards this year (Midwestern State).
Jake Faber, Angelo State University, accounted for five touchdowns and led the Rams to 524 yards of total offense
in a 51-3 win over West Texas A&M. He competed 23-for-31 through the air for 270 passing yards and a career high four
passing touchdowns. The senior also scored a rushing touchdown on his way to 11 yards rushing.
Trevor Moses, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, totaled a season-high 14 tackles, including nine solo tackles in the
near comeback against Western New Mexico. The senior linebacker also tied for a team-best two tackles for loss for a
total of six yards. Moses leads the Javelinas this season with 73 tackles.
Dominic Barry, Western New Mexico, posted yet another double-digit tackling effort with 12 tackles, eight solo, in
the win over the Javelinas. He added two tackles for loss and a pass breakup as well. It is the sixth time this season he
has had at least 10 tackles.
Andrew Blackshire, Tarleton State University, led the Texans with 10 tackles and intercepted Midwestern State QB
Layton Rabb in the first quarter. His seven solo tackles were also a team high.
4. Travon Blanchard, Texas A&M University-Commerce, led the Lions in a 52-0 shutout of UT Permian Basin with nine
tackles, including a key tackle for loss on an early fourth and goal situation. The Lions limited the Falcons to 125 yards in
the game, and UTPB did not get over 100 yards until the final drive of the game.
Josh Miller, Eastern New Mexico University, helped the Greyhound defense limit West Liberty to 116 yards of total
offense in the first half, which allowed ENMU to race to a 21-10 lead at intermission. In the second quarter, he forced a
fumble while sacking the WLU quarterback on third down in Greyhound territory. Miller's presence helped Eastern limit
the Hilltoppers to just six third-down conversions.
Kristov Martinez, Texas A&M University-Commerce, had another 10-point kicking game in the No. 9 Lions' 52-0 rout
of UT Permian Basin. He was a perfect 7-for-7 on PATs and made a 28 yard field goal. He leads the LSC in kick scoring
with 73 points and 8.1 points per game. He also allowed minus-6 yards on kickoff returns thanks to placement.
Julio De la Garza, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, dropped three inside the 20, including two inside the five yard

Mexico. De la Garza also helped the defense out on kickoffs, tallying three touchbacks in five kicks for an average of 61.6

Conference championship. The sophomore from San Bernardino, Calif. was a perfect 7-for-7 on point-after tries and
remains a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals this season. Imbriani also averaged 54.7 yards on seven kickoffs with three
touchbacks against the Texans.
Savon Rollison, Tarleton State University, stepped into the kickoff return role and the biggest return of his career set
up Tarleton's two-score comeback in the fourth quarter to force overtime against No. 4 Midwestern State. After a
Midwestern touchdown put the Mustangs up 42-28 in the fourth, Rollison returned the kickoff 50 yards to the
Midwestern State 29-yard line. Tarleton converted with a touchdown and ultimately scored 14 unanswered points in the
final 9:17 to force overtime at 42-42. Rollison returned two kickoffs for 69 yards on the day while also hauling in four
passes on offense for 49 yards.
