LSC FOOTBALL
Midwestern State and Texas A&M-Commerce remain ed atop the Lone Star Conference standings with
matching 7-1 league records with one game le .
This weekā€™s schedule includes ļ¬ve LSC contests with Eastern New Mexico at MSU, Tarleton State at A&M-C,
Texas A&M-Kingsville at Oklahoma Panhandle State, West Texas A&M at Western New Mexico, and UT
Permian Basin at Angelo State.
LSC football teams are 50-48 overall this season. The squads are 3-4 combined versus the Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athle c Conference, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Rocky Mountain Athle c Conference
teams, which are also in NCAA Super Regional Four.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Adrian Seales, Midwestern State University, SO, RB, Staļ¬€ord, Texas, Staļ¬€ord HS
Seales ran for a career-high 138 yards li ing 12th-ranked Midwestern State to a 21-16 come-from-behind win
with a 13-yard run with 52 seconds to play Saturday night in Stephenville. It was the 5-10, 205-pound running
backā€™s third career 100-yard performance and second of the season. Sealesā€™ previous career high of 115 yards
also came against the Texans in 2014. Seales, who has missed four games due to injuries this season, ranks
second on the team with 398 rushing yards for 79.6 per game.
DEFENSIVE
Jus n Jackson, Angelo State University, SO, LB, Missouri City, Texas, Fort Bend Ridge Point
Jackson was a crucial player in the Rams limi ng West Texas A&M to just 137 total yards. The sophomore made
nine total tackles of which seven were solo. He also added an intercep on and recovered a fumble. He made
1.5 tackles for loss from his linebacker posi on.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Reggie Kincade, Texas A&M University - Commerce, SO, Coverage, Everman, Texas, Everman HS
Kincade was all over the ļ¬eld on special teams in the rout of UTPB with two key recoveries. In the ļ¬rst quarter,
he recovered a fumble on a kickoļ¬€ return and gave the Lions the ball at the Falcon 14. On the next drive,
Kincade recovered a blocked punt and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown to put the Lions up 21-0.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Josh Stevens, Angelo State University, gained 124 yards and scored two touchdown in the 28-6 win over
West Texas A&M. The junior has rushed for at least 100 yards for the fourth me this season. He carried the
ball a career high 34 mes and caught ļ¬ve passes for 40 yards. He scored one touchdown on the ground and
caught one touchdown.
Luis Lopez, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, nearly had 200 yards from scrimmage against Western New
Mexico...Lopez ran for over 100 yards for the ļ¬rst me this season with a touchdown and had three recep ons
for 91 yards...the junior from San Diego, Texas punished defenders all night as he averaged 6.8 yards per carry
in the 28-13 win.
Wya Strand, Eastern New Mexico University, has another strong week and accounted for 165 yards of
total oļ¬€ense and four touchdowns in Easternā€™s win over Oklahoma Panhandle. He tossed a career-best three
touchdown passes and topped 150 passing yards for the fourth me in the last ļ¬ve games. He converted a
third-and 12 in the second quarter with a 47-yard touchdown run and ļ¬nished the game with 91 yards on the
ground. Over the last three contests, Strand has seven touchdown passes to one intercep on.
Joseph Sadler, Tarleton State University, combined for a team-high 136 yards and a touchdown in Tarletonā€™s
21-16 loss to No. 12 Midwestern State. Sadler scored the gameā€™s ļ¬rst touchdown on a one-handed 46-yard
catch from Derek Kiser for a 7-3 lead. The senior running back led the Texans in receiving with 82 yards on four
catches and also ran for 54 yards.
Luis Perez, Texas A&M University - Commerce, played in only the ļ¬rst half of the rout at UTPB with impressive
eļ¬ƒciency. He had ļ¬ve touchdown passes on only 18 comple ons in 25 a empts. This is Perezā€™ second game
of the year with ļ¬ve touchdowns and he has thrown 26 touchdowns against only three intercep ons this
season. It is his sixth game with over 250 yards passing as he leads the league in passing average, eļ¬ƒciency,
touchdowns, and fewest intercep ons.
Rodney Lawson, Western New Mexico, contributed both in the receiving game and passing game throwing
the ļ¬rst pass of the game for 64 yards and then caught eight balls for 85 yards. He had a long recep on of 18
yards.
Solomon Perdue, West Texas A&M University, had a season-high 13 tackles with 11 solo stops and one tackle
for loss against Angelo State Saturday. It marked his ļ¬rst double-digit tackle game of his career and the most
total and solo tackles in his career.
Chase Varnado, Tarleton State University, and the Tarleton defense kept the Texans in the ball game by
holding No. 12 Midwestern State to a season-low 21 points. Varnado posted nine tackles, two sacks and forced
two fumbles. In the second quarter, MSU faced 4th-and-8 from the TSU-23 and it was Varnado who came up
with a sack to turn the ball over and keep Tarletonā€™s early 7-3 lead in place. Varnado is now second in the LSC
in sacks with 10 and forced fumbles with three.
Garre Blubaugh, Texas A&M University - Commerce, ed for the team lead in tackles and also forced a

Quen n Parks, Texas A&M University - Kingsville,
caused havoc in the game against Western New
Mexico as he ļ¬nished the game with ļ¬ve QB hurries,
three tackles for a loss for 10 yards and two sacks for
eight yards. Parks also had one strip and as a unit, the
defense allowed just three points in the second half.
Dakota Montoya, Eastern New Mexico University,
helped the Greyhound defense limit Oklahoma
Panhandle to 117 passing yards and four third down
conversions last Saturday. His performance helped
ENMU cruise to a 53-10 victory as the junior defensive
lineman notched two of the teamā€™s four sacks, while
OPSU registered -13 yards on plays Montoya made a
tackle on.
Kyle Foote, Western New Mexico, helped stop
two oļ¬€ensive drives by the Javelinas coming away
with a forced fumble and intercep on. He also added
two tackles, with one coming solo. He changed
momentum right away with a big forced fumble with
TAMUK deep in WNMU territory. Footeā€™s intercep on
came on a deep pass into the red zone which he
picked oļ¬€ at the WNMU 12.
Darian Childers-Brown, Midwestern State
University, recorded a season-best two sacks for a
loss of 13 yards to help No. 12-ranked Midwestern
State to a 21-16 win over Tarleton State Saturday
night in Stephenville. The 6-2, 265-pound senior
brought down Tarleton quarterback Zed Woerner
twice on the third downs to end drives in the fourth
quarter. Childers-Brown has sacks in ļ¬ve consecu ve
games and leads the Mustangs with 6.5 this season.
Tyler Vargas, Western New Mexico, was solid
again in the pun ng game averaging 40.8 yards on
six a empts. Three landed inside the 20 without a
touchback and had a long of 55 yards. He averaged
50.2 yards on four kickoļ¬€s with one for a touchback
and he also added an extra point and two ļ¬eld goals,
with a long of 31 yards.
Ron Reid, Tarleton State University, led the
Tarleton special teams unit with ļ¬ve punts, pinning
three down inside the 20 and one going for a long
of 50 yards, in Tarletonā€™s near-upset against No. 12
Midwestern State Saturday.

Angelo State
The Rams held WT to just 137 yards of total oļ¬€ense
... It is the fewest yards allowed since holding Texas
A&M-Commerce to 147 in 2003 ... Josh Stevens
gained at least 100 yards for the fourth me this
season and is just 32 yards away from 1,000 ... The
special teams took the na onal lead in blocked kicks
with the ninth of the season ... ASU will host UTPB for
its season ļ¬nale on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m.
Eastern New Mexico
A er more than two hours of lightning delays, the
Eastern New Mexico defense lit up the ļ¬eld and
forced turnovers on two of Oklahoma Panhandles
ļ¬rst three oļ¬€ensive plays. The Greyhounds capitalized
and scored touchdowns on four of their ļ¬rst six
possessions. Quarterback Wya Strand tossed three
touchdown passes to Larry Baker-Bruce, while Kamal
Cass, Strand, Paul Terry, and Ismail Garre combined
for ļ¬ve rushing touchdowns. Easternā€™s 645 yards of
total oļ¬€ense was its most since se ng the team
record during a game against Southeastern Oklahoma
in the 2009 season. Dakota Montoya accounted for
two of ENMUā€™s four sacks in the game, as the Hounds
held one of the leagueā€™s top passing a acks in check.
The Eastern New Mexico University football team will
close the regular season on Saturday a ernoon at
Midwestern State.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State claimed its fourth win of the
season with a go-ahead score in the ļ¬nal minute to
beat Tarleton State 21-16 to improve to 8-1 on the
season and 7-1 in Lone Star Conference play... The
Mustangs can claim at least a share of its fourth LSC
tle with a win in the season ļ¬nale over Eastern New
Mexico... MSU improved to 8-1 for the fourth me
since the start of the 2011 season... The Mustangs
won for the second straight me against the Texans
in Stephenville for the ļ¬rst me since claiming
victories in 1999 and 2000. MSU defeated the Texans
27-24 on Sept. 14, 2015 during their last trip to
the Cowboy Capital... Five of the last six mee ngs
between Midwestern State and Tarleton State have
been decided by ļ¬ve-or-fewer points... Sophomore
Adrian Seales ran for a career-high 138 yards on 21
carries. It was his third career 100-yard performance
and second of the season. His previous career-high
of 115 yards also came against the Texans in 2014...
Sophomore Vincent Johnson rushed for mul ple
touchdowns for the seventh me this season. His
18 touchdowns this season are ed for the fourth
most in a single season behind Kendrick Jackson
(21 in 2012 and 18 in 2011) and Daniel Polk (19 in
2007)... Midwestern State commi ed a season-high
four turnovers, but limited Tarleton State to 9 points
oļ¬€ of the miscues... The Mustangs defense combined
for a season-high ļ¬ve quarterback sacks and limited
Tarleton State to 114 yards a er hal ime... Senior
defensive lineman Darian Childers notched two sacks
and has been in a sack in ļ¬ve consecu ve games. He
leads the team with 6.5 sacks this season...

Tarleton State
Tarleton fell to No. 12 Midwestern State 21-16 with
the Mustangs scoring the game-winning touchdown
with 52 seconds remaining. The Texans appeared
in posi on to pull the upset and remain in the LSC
tle hopes when Zed Woerner threw a 15-yard
touchdown pass to Delā€™Michael High for a 16-15
lead and two minutes le in the game. The Texans
limited Midwestern State to a season-low 21 points,
however, and forced two fumbles and had two
intercep ons, both by Dominique Mar n. Tarleton
will travel to Texas A&M-Commerce for the season
ļ¬nale on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 4 p.m.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The A&M-Commerce Lions entered the week ranked
8th na onally in the AFCA poll and 4th in the NCAA
Super Region II rankings. With a weather-shortened
58-21 win over UTPB, the Lions are now 8-1 overall
and 7-1 in the LSC entering the ļ¬nal week of the
regular season. On only 54 oļ¬€ensive plays, the
Lions had 24 ļ¬rst downs and 591 yards of oļ¬€ense,
averaging 10.9 yards per play. Quarterback Luis
Perez completed 18-of-25 passes for 273 yards and
5 touchdowns in the ļ¬rst half. Ovie Urevbu was the
leading rusher with 8 carries for 85 yards and a score.
Three players had over 90 yards receiving with Chris
Chumley on 92 yards, Dā€™Arthur Cowan on 91 yards
and Vincent Hobbs on 91 yards. Hobbs had two
touchdown catches, while Cowan, Urevbu, Hayden

Texas A&M-Kingsville extended its win streak to ļ¬ve
and has the longest ac ve win streak in the LSC... the
Hogs sit ed for third and hold the ebreaker... the
seven wins are the most since the 2010 season and
the ļ¬ve consecu ve wins are the most since 2010.

The West Texas A&M football team suļ¬€ered a 28-6
setback to Angelo State on Senior Day falling to 5-5
on the year and 4-4 in Lone Star Conference play...The
Buļ¬€s didnā€™t score un l a crazy scramble pass from
sophomore Ben Arbuckle to junior wide receiver
Junior Pomeā€™e with 42 seconds le in the game in a
rain storm...It was Pomeā€™eā€™s ninth touchdown catch of
the season to lead the team...The Buļ¬€s have scored
just six points in the last 125:11 of playing me da ng
back to a touchdown at the 5:11 mark of the fourth
quarter in the 35-27 win over then-No. 4 Midwestern
State on Oct. 22...WT recorded its sixth game of
under 100 yards rushing against ASU this season and
had a season-low 138 yards of total oļ¬€ense which
marked the lowest in the Nesbi era, as was the 67
yards passing...Defensively, junior Solomon Perdue
had a team-high 13 tackles with 11 solo stops and
one tackle for loss to lead the team...The Buļ¬€s end
the season searching for their 12-straight winning
season with a win at Western New Mexico Saturday...
WT leads the all- me series with WNMU 4-2 as the
teams havenā€™t played since 2001.
Western New Mexico
WNMU forced four turnovers without commi ng
one in the loss to the Javelinas. In addi on to strong
games from Rodney Lawson, Kyle Foote and Tyler
Vargas, DeAndre Williams rushed for 89 yards and a
touchdown, Javia Hall passed for 262 without an INT,
Xavier Ayers brought down 10 passes for 106 yards
and Dominic Barry once again led the defense with
12 tackles, six coming solo. Lawson contributed both
in the receiving game and passing game throwing the
ļ¬rst pass of the game for 64 yards and then caught
eight balls for 85 yards. He had a long recep on of

  • 1. LSC FOOTBALL Midwestern State and Texas A&M-Commerce remain ed atop the Lone Star Conference standings with matching 7-1 league records with one game le . This weekā€™s schedule includes ļ¬ve LSC contests with Eastern New Mexico at MSU, Tarleton State at A&M-C, Texas A&M-Kingsville at Oklahoma Panhandle State, West Texas A&M at Western New Mexico, and UT Permian Basin at Angelo State. LSC football teams are 50-48 overall this season. The squads are 3-4 combined versus the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athle c Conference, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Rocky Mountain Athle c Conference teams, which are also in NCAA Super Regional Four. PLAYERS OF THE WEEK OFFENSIVE Adrian Seales, Midwestern State University, SO, RB, Staļ¬€ord, Texas, Staļ¬€ord HS Seales ran for a career-high 138 yards li ing 12th-ranked Midwestern State to a 21-16 come-from-behind win with a 13-yard run with 52 seconds to play Saturday night in Stephenville. It was the 5-10, 205-pound running backā€™s third career 100-yard performance and second of the season. Sealesā€™ previous career high of 115 yards also came against the Texans in 2014. Seales, who has missed four games due to injuries this season, ranks second on the team with 398 rushing yards for 79.6 per game. DEFENSIVE Jus n Jackson, Angelo State University, SO, LB, Missouri City, Texas, Fort Bend Ridge Point Jackson was a crucial player in the Rams limi ng West Texas A&M to just 137 total yards. The sophomore made nine total tackles of which seven were solo. He also added an intercep on and recovered a fumble. He made 1.5 tackles for loss from his linebacker posi on. SPECIAL TEAMS Reggie Kincade, Texas A&M University - Commerce, SO, Coverage, Everman, Texas, Everman HS Kincade was all over the ļ¬eld on special teams in the rout of UTPB with two key recoveries. In the ļ¬rst quarter, he recovered a fumble on a kickoļ¬€ return and gave the Lions the ball at the Falcon 14. On the next drive, Kincade recovered a blocked punt and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown to put the Lions up 21-0. OTHER TOP PERFORMERS Josh Stevens, Angelo State University, gained 124 yards and scored two touchdown in the 28-6 win over West Texas A&M. The junior has rushed for at least 100 yards for the fourth me this season. He carried the ball a career high 34 mes and caught ļ¬ve passes for 40 yards. He scored one touchdown on the ground and caught one touchdown. Luis Lopez, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, nearly had 200 yards from scrimmage against Western New Mexico...Lopez ran for over 100 yards for the ļ¬rst me this season with a touchdown and had three recep ons for 91 yards...the junior from San Diego, Texas punished defenders all night as he averaged 6.8 yards per carry in the 28-13 win. Wya Strand, Eastern New Mexico University, has another strong week and accounted for 165 yards of total oļ¬€ense and four touchdowns in Easternā€™s win over Oklahoma Panhandle. He tossed a career-best three touchdown passes and topped 150 passing yards for the fourth me in the last ļ¬ve games. He converted a third-and 12 in the second quarter with a 47-yard touchdown run and ļ¬nished the game with 91 yards on the ground. Over the last three contests, Strand has seven touchdown passes to one intercep on. Joseph Sadler, Tarleton State University, combined for a team-high 136 yards and a touchdown in Tarletonā€™s 21-16 loss to No. 12 Midwestern State. Sadler scored the gameā€™s ļ¬rst touchdown on a one-handed 46-yard catch from Derek Kiser for a 7-3 lead. The senior running back led the Texans in receiving with 82 yards on four catches and also ran for 54 yards. Luis Perez, Texas A&M University - Commerce, played in only the ļ¬rst half of the rout at UTPB with impressive eļ¬ƒciency. He had ļ¬ve touchdown passes on only 18 comple ons in 25 a empts. This is Perezā€™ second game of the year with ļ¬ve touchdowns and he has thrown 26 touchdowns against only three intercep ons this season. It is his sixth game with over 250 yards passing as he leads the league in passing average, eļ¬ƒciency, touchdowns, and fewest intercep ons. Rodney Lawson, Western New Mexico, contributed both in the receiving game and passing game throwing the ļ¬rst pass of the game for 64 yards and then caught eight balls for 85 yards. He had a long recep on of 18 yards. Solomon Perdue, West Texas A&M University, had a season-high 13 tackles with 11 solo stops and one tackle for loss against Angelo State Saturday. It marked his ļ¬rst double-digit tackle game of his career and the most total and solo tackles in his career. Chase Varnado, Tarleton State University, and the Tarleton defense kept the Texans in the ball game by holding No. 12 Midwestern State to a season-low 21 points. Varnado posted nine tackles, two sacks and forced two fumbles. In the second quarter, MSU faced 4th-and-8 from the TSU-23 and it was Varnado who came up with a sack to turn the ball over and keep Tarletonā€™s early 7-3 lead in place. Varnado is now second in the LSC in sacks with 10 and forced fumbles with three. Darian Childers-Brown, Midwestern State University, recorded a season-best two sacks for a loss of 13 yards to help No. 12-ranked Midwestern State to a 21-16 win over Tarleton State Saturday night in Stephenville. The 6-2, 265-pound senior brought down Tarleton quarterback Zed Woerner twice on the third downs to end drives in the fourth quarter. Childers-Brown has sacks in ļ¬ve consecu ve games and leads the Mustangs with 6.5 this season. Tyler Vargas, Western New Mexico, was solid again in the pun ng game averaging 40.8 yards on six a empts. Three landed inside the 20 without a touchback and had a long of 55 yards. UT Permian Basin * Texas A&M-Commerce 58, UT Permian Basin 21 West Texas A&M The West Texas A&M football team suļ¬€ered a 28-6 setback to Angelo State on Senior Day falling to 5-5 on the year and 4-4 in Lone Star Conference play...The Buļ¬€s didnā€™t score un l a crazy scramble pass from sophomore Ben Arbuckle to junior wide receiver Junior Pomeā€™e with 42 seconds le in the game in a rain storm...It was Pomeā€™eā€™s ninth touchdown catch of the season to lead the team...The Buļ¬€s have scored just six points in the last 125:11 of playing me da ng back to a touchdown at the 5:11 mark of the fourth quarter in the 35-27 win over then-No. 4 Midwestern State on Oct. 22...WT recorded its sixth game of under 100 yards rushing against ASU this season and had a season-low 138 yards of total oļ¬€ense which marked the lowest in the Nesbi era, as was the 67 yards passing...Defensively, junior Solomon Perdue had a team-high 13 tackles with 11 solo stops and one tackle for loss to lead the team...The Buļ¬€s end the season searching for their 12-straight winning season with a win at Western New Mexico Saturday... WT leads the all- me series with WNMU 4-2 as the teams havenā€™t played since 2001. Western New Mexico WNMU forced four turnovers without commi ng one in the loss to the Javelinas. In addi on to strong games from Rodney Lawson, Kyle Foote and Tyler Vargas, DeAndre Williams rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown, Javia Hall passed for 262 without an INT, Xavier Ayers brought down 10 passes for 106 yards and Dominic Barry once again led the defense with 12 tackles, six coming solo. Lawson contributed both in the receiving game and passing game throwing the ļ¬rst pass of the game for 64 yards and then caught eight balls for 85 yards. He had a long recep on of 18 yards. Foote helped stop two oļ¬€ensive drives by the Javelinas coming away with a forced fumble and intercep on. He also added two tackles, with one coming solo. He changed momentum right away with a big forced fumble with TAMUK deep in WNMU territory. Footeā€™s intercep on came on a deep pass into the red zone which he picked oļ¬€ at the WNMU 12. Vargas was solid again in the pun ng game averaging 40.8 yards on six a empts. Three landed inside the 20 without a touchback and had a long of 55 yards. He averaged 50.2 yards on four kickoļ¬€s with one for a touchback and he also added an extra point and two ļ¬eld goals, with a long of 31 yards.
