PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Luiz Perez, Texas A&M University-Commerce, SR, QB, Chula Vista, Calif., Otay Ranch HS
Perez had one of the best showings of his career in his three quarters of action in the No. 3 Lions 51-22 win over Eastern
New Mexico. He went 20-for-24 for 357 yards and five touchdown passes. He also ran for a six-yard touchdown in the
game. Perez did the majority of his damage in the first half, throwing 16-for-18 for 328 yards and 5 TDs in the first half.
Perez threw passes of 25+ yards to five different receivers, including three touchdown passes of more than 50 yards.
Perez has thrown nine touchdowns in his last two games and has a completion percentage of 70 percent so far this year.
DEFENSIVE
EJ Speed, Tarleton State University, JR, LB, Fort Worth, Texas, N. Crowley HS
Speed came up with big moment after big moment for Tarleton in Saturday's LSC opening win at Angelo State. ASU was
amid a run of 10 unanswered points and looking to take the lead heading into halftime with 1:44 on the clock in a 17-17
game, but Speed had other ideas. The junior linebacker forced and recovered a fumble, which he ran in back 10 yards
for his first career touchdown, to give the Texans the lead for good right before the break. Fast forward into the third
quarter with time winding down and Tarleton leading 27-17 and the Rams attempting to punt from their own 25-yard
line, Speed strikes again. The linebacker blows through the ASU offensive line and knocks down the punt, which rolled
out of bounds at the four and set up another scoring opportunity for the Texans. Despite also being responsible for 10
Tarleton points, Speed also made himself known with arguably the biggest stop of his career in the fourth quarter. With
10 minutes left in the game and ASU trailing 30-17, the Rams marched 62 yards down to the Tarleton one-yard line
before Speed stopped quarterback Charlie Rotherham for a two-yard loss on fourth-and-goal from the one-yard line.
Tarleton took over and was eventually able to run the clock out en route to a 30-24 win over the previously unbeaten
Rams. Speed finished the game with eight tackles, three for a loss, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery for a touchdown,
and a blocked punt.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Sergio Sroka, Tarleton State University, SR, K, Miami, Fla., Belen Jesuit HS
Sroka went 3-for-4 in the kicking game, including a long field goal of 38 yards to help Tarleton get past Angelo State 30-
24 in the LSC opener last Saturday.

lead.

No. 3 Lions 51-22 win over Eastern New Mexico. Seven of his tackles were solo tackles. Sterling-Lowe did not have a pass
thrown his direction as the Lion defense gave up just 104 yards passing in the game.
Joe Tito, Western New Mexico, was all over the backfield against the Wolves posting two sacks, three tackles for
loss, two quarterback hurries and five total tackles, with two coming solo. His first sack led to a strip-sack and helped
stop a drive deep in WNMU territory.
Dakota Montoya, Eastern New Mexico University, registered the first interception of his career on Saturday at third-
ranked Texas A&M-Commerce. He returned that interception for ENMU's first pick-six since October 2015.
Alec DiValerio, Midwestern State University, spearheaded a Midwestern State defense which kept Texas A&M-
Kingsville out of the end zone in four trips to the Red Zone during a 35-13 win Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. The
6-4, 260-pound junior from Sachse made seven tackles including two for loss with a quarterback sack.
Kristov Martinez, Texas A&M University-Commerce, moved into second place in school history in points scored. He
is still perfect on field goal attempts, placing another kick through the uprights against the Greyhounds. He also made six

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK OFFENSIVE Luiz Perez, Texas A&M University-Commerce, SR, QB, Chula Vista, Calif., Otay Ranch HS Perez had one of the best showings of his career in his three quarters of action in the No. 3 Lions 51-22 win over Eastern New Mexico. He went 20-for-24 for 357 yards and five touchdown passes. He also ran for a six-yard touchdown in the game.
  • 2. DEFENSIVE EJ Speed, Tarleton State University, JR, LB, Fort Worth, Texas, N. Crowley HS Speed came up with big moment after big moment for Tarleton in Saturday's LSC opening win at Angelo State. ASU was amid a run of 10 unanswered points and looking to take the lead heading into halftime with 1:44 on the clock in a 17-17 game, but Speed had other ideas. The junior linebacker forced and recovered a fumble, which he ran in back 10 yards for his first career touchdown, to give the Texans the lead for good right before the break. Fast forward into the third quarter with time winding down and Tarleton leading 27-17 and the Rams attempting to punt from their own 25-yard line, Speed strikes again. The linebacker blows through the ASU offensive line and knocks down the punt, which rolled out of bounds at the four and set up another scoring opportunity for the Texans. Despite also being responsible for 10 Tarleton points, Speed also made himself known with arguably the biggest stop of his career in the fourth quarter. With 10 minutes left in the game and ASU trailing 30-17, the Rams marched 62 yards down to the Tarleton one-yard line before Speed stopped quarterback Charlie Rotherham for a two-yard loss on fourth-and-goal from the one-yard line. Tarleton took over and was eventually able to run the clock out en route to a 30-24 win over the previously unbeaten Rams. Speed finished the game with eight tackles, three for a loss, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery for a touchdown, and a blocked punt. SPECIAL TEAMS Sergio Sroka, Tarleton State University, SR, K, Miami, Fla., Belen Jesuit HS Sroka went 3-for-4 in the kicking game, including a long field goal of 38 yards to help Tarleton get past Angelo State 30- 24 in the LSC opener last Saturday. WEEKLY AWARDS Offensive S-4 D'Angelo Bowie, Western New Mexico S-11 Jordan Thomas, Texas A&M-Kingsville S-18 Luiz Perez, Texas A&M-Commerce Defensive S-4 Chris Smith, Texas A&M-Commerce S-11 Daelin Young, West Texas A&M S-18 EJ Speed, Tarleton State Special Teams S-4 Bailey Hale, Eastern New Mexico S-11 Alex Schrag, West Texas A&M S-18 Sergio Sroka, Tarleton State OTHER TOP PERFORMERS Del'Michael High, Tarleton State University, enjoyed his best performance of the young season as the senior wide receiver hauled in eight passes for 119 yards in Tarleton's 30-24 win in the conference opener at Angelo State last weekend. Younger rushed for 116 yards on 17 carries, averaging 6.8 yards per touch, while also catching two passes for 16 yards. Younger longest run for the game was for 23 yards. D'Angelo Bowie, Western New Mexico, continues to be one of the top receivers in the nation as he added six receptions for 108 yards and two scores. His longest catch of 35 yards went for a touchdown and was the first score of the game for the Mustangs. His second TD of 21 yards brought WNMU to within 12 with still over four minutes to play in the third quarter. This season he now has 464 yards and five touchdowns. Layton Rabb, Midwestern State University, completed 17-of-22 passes for a career-high 230 yards with two touchdowns helping 13th-ranked Midwestern State to a 35-13 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. The 6-5, 225-pound junior connected on scoring strikes to Dorian Johnson (11) and D.J. Myers (45) and also had a 56-yard strike to Tyrique Edwards to set up another score. Bright Ihegworo, Angelo State University, had a career day for the Ram defense. He recorded a career high with 3.0 sacks and 4.0 tackles for loss. He was a part of a defense that limited TSU to only 83 yards rushing. The 11 total tackles tie his career high as Angelo State held Tarleton State to only 291 yards of total offense. Peyton Tilley, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, led the Javelinas with a season-high ten tackles including three solo stops. Tilley also scooped a fumble and picked up four yards at a critical point of the game versus #13 Midwestern State. Isaiah Barnett, West Texas A&M University, was all over the field in the Buffs' 17-6 win over UT Permian Basin on Saturday. He led the team with eight tackles and six solo stops, while having two interceptions for 57 yards and three pass breakups. Barnett's two picks led to the first 10 points of the game for the Buffs. Leading 7-3 in the third, Barnett picked off Kameron Mathis for the second time and returned it 45 yards to the UTPB 19 setting up a field goal for a 10-3 lead. Yusef Sterling-Lowe, Texas A&M University-Commerce, had eight tackles, including a four-yard tackle for loss in the No. 3 Lions 51-22 win over Eastern New Mexico. Seven of his tackles were solo tackles. Sterling-Lowe did not have a pass thrown his direction as the Lion defense gave up just 104 yards passing in the game. Joe Tito, Western New Mexico, was all over the backfield against the Wolves posting two sacks, three tackles for loss, two quarterback hurries and five total tackles, with two coming solo. His first sack led to a strip-sack and helped stop a drive deep in WNMU territory. Dakota Montoya, Eastern New Mexico University, registered the first interception of his career on Saturday at third- ranked Texas A&M-Commerce. He returned that interception for ENMU's first pick-six since October 2015. Alec DiValerio, Midwestern State University, spearheaded a Midwestern State defense which kept Texas A&M- Kingsville out of the end zone in four trips to the Red Zone during a 35-13 win Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. The 6-4, 260-pound junior from Sachse made seven tackles including two for loss with a quarterback sack. Kristov Martinez, Texas A&M University-Commerce, moved into second place in school history in points scored. He is still perfect on field goal attempts, placing another kick through the uprights against the Greyhounds. He also made six extra points in the Lions 51-22 win over ENMU. He is 55 points away from becoming the all-time leading scorer, trailing only former Lion kicking great Billy Watkins. Bailey Hale, Eastern New Mexico University, turned in another strong week for the Eastern New Mexico University football team. His first-quarter field goal at third-ranked Texas A&M-Commerce was a career-best 48 yards. He also had a pair of touchbacks on four kickoffs.
