2. Process
(advergame)
• This is my background to the advergame,
I think my advergame is of a good
standard as it shows a range of difference
tools that have been used to make the
background. The ruler was used to make
straight lines so that the game looked
neat and a detailed I use the smudge tool
so that the clouds looked more realistic
and would appeal to the audience more
as my audience tend to like detailed
backgrounds, I know this from the survey
results. The castle in the background fills
the page more so that the background
doesn’t look bland and will make the
game seem tedious. The castle moves
when the character moves across the
page which gives more of a realistic
effect. The idea of the castle in the
background is used to keep the
customers motivated to get to the finish
as they can see and will feel like the have
to finish as they can see it and that it
would be too late to no finish.
3. Process
(advergame)
• Characters,
The characters in the advergame make
the game have an interactive side to the
game, the characters waving their sword
to suggest that the game will be a
violent game that will be appealing to
my male audience as most males enjoy
violent games will lots of destruction,
also the idea of violence will be available
to younger children as there will not be
any graphic scenes that will not be
suitable for my younger audience. Males
also like the idea of saving someone in
distress and the idea of them being a
hero, which is why I put the princess
character in to the advergame as the
stereotypical, princess needing to be
saved will appeal to my audience as
males like to feel superior and seem like
hero.
4. Process
(advergame)
• Rendering the video,
Rendering the video made the pixels
easier to see and made the game look
more professional and realistic. The
red ‘YOU WIN’ sign is to clearly show
when the customer is moving onto
the next level which will indicate that
the game is going to get harder which
will motivate the customer as they
will want to push themselves to see if
the can beat the harder level. The
levelling system will also bring more
publicity as friends will be able to
compete against each other to get to
the higher levels than their friends.
5. Process
(advergame)
When adding in sound effects to my advergame I
used YouTube to get the sound effects and YouTube
converter to make the clips into MP3’s. Once I had
done that I could simply drag the sound effects in to
the different audio slots and using the razor tool I
was able to cut the clips down to the exact part of
the clip I wanted. Once I had done that I could drag
that part of the clip in line with the timing of the
action so that it gave a realistic look and made the
advergame look more professional. This would make
the advergame more appealing to my audience as
loud noises will make the game look interesting and
make the customer want to purchase it and tell their
friends about the game, giving the game more
publicity which would bring more customers. Having
a medieval background song made the game have
sound at all time so that the customer wouldn’t find
the game to be tedious. Also players like to play with
a rhythm to follow so that the game is more
enjoyable and easy to play as a rhythm can help the
player time their shots better making the game not
too difficult and making the customer getting fed up
as they cannot move onto the next level.
6. Process
(magazine front cover)
• Magazine front cover,
I thought that my magazine is of a good
standard but I could have added a bit
more detail into my magazine as it is a
little plain, which gives a simplistic look
to the magazine that will appeal to some
of my audience as not all of my audience
will want a filled page. I have kept the
front page to just one topic to show that
the customer knows that the game is a
big thing and would make customer want
to see what the game is about and
purchase the magazine to find out more
information about the product. The
bright red boarder at the bottom is to
grab the viewers attention so that the
customer can find out more information
at the website and also on twitter and
Facebook.
7. Process
(magazine front cover)
• The fonts used show power as the game is
designed for males and the rough font will be
suited to the genre of the game. The title is over
laying the image so that the customers can
clearly see that the title is for the image and it is
easily recognisable to the customers viewing
the magazine. I used a pencil tool to go over the
gaps in the game Centre and left the ‘A’ with no
pencil markings so that it is more eye catching
and the customer can see the detail that has
been put into the magazine which will make the
customer believe that there is good content
inside. The rhetorical question will make the
audience want to play the game and purchase
the magazine as the text is used as a teaser
making them want to prove that they can beat
the game. The white boarder at the top is used
to show what platforms the games are on so
that, if a person has an Xbox they will know
which magazine to buy because if they bought a
PlayStation magazine even thought they had
Xbox the magazine wouldn’t have much
relevance to them. The title is large so that
people viewing the magazine will be easily
interested by the word game as the people
reading the magazine will want to read about
games.
8. Process
My invitation,
I thought that my invitation was of a high standard
as it is not complex and the simplicity of the
invitation would appeal to my audience as my
audience prefer images rather than lots of text.
Using a ruler I created a boarder for my invitation as
it gives a professional look and also it brings
everything in and makes the invitation look neat and
not everything all over the place. The orange text
was used so that the text would stand out more
than the rest the images so that people would be
intrigued and want to know what the invitation was
for. The large image was placed so that the invitation
was eye catching and would standout and make the
person attend the award ceremony. I created the
game centre logo with shapes using the custom
shape tool and circles with the initials so that
customers will be able to recognise the logo is linked
with the game centre magazine and game the
guardian. This would bring publicity to game and
magazine as a logo is a good way to get recognised
as logos don’t take up much space and can be put
anywhere giving you a wide range of customers.
9. Process
The text at the bottom of the product states
that live interviews and prizes will be available.
This is used to interest people and make them
want to enter the competitions to see if they
win, having an interview in the ceremony will
have people that are fans of the person being
interviewed want to attend, this is bringing
publicity to the guardian game as they will go to
see Nadeshot and also the guardian trailer
which might make the people that didn’t know
about the guardian want to find out about the
game and purchase it. The different shades of
blue give the invitation a mature look to the
invitation and will interest my secondary
audience which is the older adults as they
wouldn’t want to come if the invitation was full
of bright colours and big text as they would
think that the ceremony was for children and
this would make them not want to attend.
