The logos are very similar in a way that works rather well. Each logo is
specific to each game so you can tell them apart but some logos stand
out more than others and are more memorable.
The logos are all different sizes but I believe it looks better when the
logos are larger because they draw the eye because there easier to
see so you remember them more.
Over every single logo there is the title of the game, The titles are
large and have special effect like outlines and different colouring like
the red and green which is better than just using plain black. The
words that are after the main title like an extra word are usually
spaced out in lettering quite far apart.
The logo doesn't’t always have to be behind the title though as is
shown in the Gwent and mirrors edge logo where they are above and
below but I do not think this is as effective.
Green is the color of nature. It symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness,
and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety.
Dark green is also commonly associated with money.
Red is the color of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war,
danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and
love.

The key chains are a good accessory which allows other boring
objects like keys look more interesting.
The key chains are different, most of these ones are pixelated
which gives them interesting shape as they are not round or
square, as well as this they are very bright which stands out. They
are also just a character from the game they are advertising or an
object included inside the game.
An effect which makes them stand out more is putting an outline
around the art, around the pixels it works because if they didn’t
have them it would not look right and the portal ones have them to
have it like multiple layers so it stands out more than the black
background on it.
The assassins creed one is very interesting and has its own logo and
title of the game in the centre of the circle and it is a darker silver
which is the general colour of the game
They are all connected by a decent length chain that is not too long
or short and are roughly the circle size of like a 2p.
The circle is a universal symbol with
extensive meaning. It represents the
notions of totality, wholeness,
original perfection, the Self, the
infinite, eternity, timelessness, all
cyclic movement,
Orange combines the energy of red and
the happiness of yellow. It is associated
with joy, sunshine, and the tropics.
Orange represents enthusiasm,
fascination, happiness, creativity,
determination, attraction, success,
encouragement, and stimulation.

These posters are very similar firstly in the way that most
of them are silhouettes of different colours in the
background of a character or creature that will actually
appear in the game probably. These ones that have the
silhouettes on, at the bottom they are darker colours
whereas at the top they are lighter like using gradients.
If they are not like this then the posters appear to be
dark and have the main character on it and on the
outline of this character it glows the colour blue over a
black background. The doom title also has this effect but
it itself is blue and large/capitalised. Also on it the
bottom of each letter it is cut at an angle forming a zig
zag effect.
All of these appear to the target audience because they
seem more developed and harder to look good if you
have a silhouette or an explosion glow which attracts the
eye rather than just a simple picture and title; the basic
fact is it is better to use effects.
Black is associated with power, elegance, formality,
death, evil, and mystery.

All of the T-shirts have the same similar basic layouts
they all have a huge text font of the title of the game
and then an image underneath, the images are of a
character and they are quite large and on the brighter
side where as the actual t-shirt colour is dark.
There are no back designs but I would really like to
make one on my products because I think then it will
not look so plain and boring, therefor it will be more
approachable and accepting to people.
When you use the character underneath the logo it has
its own specific shape and is not confined into a
specific shape like a circle and a square.
The audience will buy these because they are each
unique to one certain game, so you can specifically get
one for your own favourite game or you can buy one
which is a mash-up.

All the colours on these different skateboard decks are
bright such as red, green and blues and this is so they stand
out more which means if it was among others then it would
catch the eye.
The board will look better if you scatter more things around
from a game on it because it fills it up more and makes it
look more interesting rather than being one colour plain
with art on it.
When I talked about neon blue on my posters I may as well
include on these decks and make them similar.
A heart, the connotation is that it is a symbol of passion
and love – this is what the rose represents. The denotation
is a representation of a cartoon heart. The connotation is a
symbol of love and affection.
Blue is the color of the sky and sea. It is often associated
with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom,
confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven.

The colours of all the Xbox covert arts are mostly darker greys
and blacks.
The different arts that are on the Xbox are generally the same
there is usually a character on it from the game at the top and
the title in huge letters along the side where the disk ejects, on
the assassins creed cover art the logo from the game is
included on.
The cover art goes all over the Xbox and is accessible for kinect
and controllers however I am just sticking with the console.

T-Shirt (1985) Poster (1980)
Logo (1986)
The poster has a darker boarder and then
becomes lighter as it goes into the middle
this is due to using a glow or a gradient. It
has a lot of objects on it so it fills it up and
makes it look full so it doesn't’t look blank
and boring. The bold text has an red outline
going around it and has a gradient inside
the bubble text going from darker orange at
the bottom up too a bright yellow. This
looks so full that it is more interesting then
a black with white and 1 picture that’s how
it appeals more to the selected audience
The t-shirt likes to use brighter colours but it has the
same layout of where the image is based on the
design. This T-shirt has an affect which allows the
image to stick out and not be at the same layer as
the t-shirt. It does not include one image of just a
character It has a section from a game . This appeals
to the audience because it is a game suggested for
younger people and the genre is perfect.
The logo is very bright using
gold with an interesting
shield shape and the
outline of it is a darker
colour than the rest. Inside
the logo it includes key
objects which are included
in the game.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products have?
• The common conventions of the gaming style which are repeated are the colours on all of the
products, they are all mostly darker colours this relates to the gaming genre very well. All of
the text across the products are very big and bold fonts which really brings out the power of
the games.
• What aspects of the research will you include within your on
work?
• My existing products will help in the making of my final products I will use all similar colours
based on each different product and I will use different ways for each so I will use a character
and title for some and then a logo and title for others and then for some such as the Xbox
cover art I will use all of them together. For the poster I will make it dark at the bottom by
being black and use a gradient or different colour making it lighter a the top. For the logo my
text will not go over the top of the image it will either go above or below exactly like the
GWENT logo.
Questionnaire Analysis

Audience research
• Observation: I have an equal amount of male and females in the survey audience
• What this says about my audience: Everybody loves merchandise that are male and
female.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: I will make my products appeal to males
by using darker colours on products I will make less for female but still make some,
probably in the t-shirts or key chains. The posters will include black on them at the
bottom turning lighter going up.
Audience research
• Observation: The huge majority
are inside my target audience
because they are lower than 20
and higher than 10.
• What this says about my
audience: This means that my
audience are younger and are
still in education, making the
products look complicated and
not good looking will make
them loose interest.
• How will your product appeal to
this audience: I need to make
products that are suitable and
cheap and vary so you can get
similar things in different ways.
My logo will go on all of the
products making them all
related like the poster and T-
shirt and disc.
Audience research
• Observation: Most people love the colour green.
• What this says about my audience: They all prefer bright colours
• How will your product appeal to this audience: I am going to make my logo vey
bright probably using the colour green and then I will use some specified colours
because they look good. I also think the other suggested colours with blue in
sound great and I will use these probably as a part of my poster.
Audience research
• Observation: People really love key chains and t-shirts.
• What this says about my audience: That they are of a younger age and do
not own smarter products and they own keys.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: I will really focus on the
layouts on these two and make more of them. I will make multiple t-shirts
and key chains but I will also make many other products.
Audience research
• Observation: People prefer products to be brighter.
• What this says about my audience: They don’t own a lot of dark and like to stand
out.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: I will create everything with
brighter colours like green, reds and blues apart from t-shirts because they look
better in black for example my skateboard will be red and blue.
Audience research
• Observation: Most people like average sized posters.
• What this says about my audience: They lie posters a lot but they
don’t want them taking up too much space or too little.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: It will be an average
poster size of 46 x 61 cm and it will look great. I will make two
posters this size so I can choose which one i like more.
Audience research
• Observation: people love character on key chains.
• What this says about my audience: That they prefer something
unique and out of shape.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: I will create a
character and then place him on a key chain for example maybe a
little pixelated red dragon and I may also include a logo key chain.
Audience research
• Observation: People love the logo and title of the game on a t-shirt.
• What this says about my audience: They love branding and are
wearing similar clothing.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: It will be a great
layout near the chest of the design and I will create a really
outstanding unique and bright logo and centre it in the middle.
Audience research
• Observation: People do own merchandise.
• What this says about my audience: That they are keeping up with recent times and
prefer to own products that advertise other games.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: I will make a wide variety of
products and differentiate them. My products will include a poster, skateboard
deck, CD cover art, logo for the game, key chains, t-shirt designs, cover art for
console
Audience research
• Observation: Not that many people like skateboarding
• What this says about my audience: That if they don’t like
skateboarding they wont own one.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: If they do like
skateboarding I will make it look in a similar genre by using graffiti
and psychedelic.
Interviews
Interview 1
• Do you like merchandise?
Yes I love it.
• What is your favourite type of merchandise and why?
Posters because they look better than game cases and you can hang them on
your wall.
• Do you own any merchandise. If so what and if not, why not?
Yes I own a few posters.
• Do you prefer your products vibrant or black, why?
I prefer colourful posters as they are eye catching.
• What would you prefer on a keychain a logo and title of the game or a
character from it and why?
I would prefer a character on a keychain because you get a better shape and
variation.
Interview 1
• Observation: He likes posters and bright colours.
• What this says about my audience: That they are
of a younger age and they like products that are
more eye catching by being colourful.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: I
will use brighter colours such as greens, blues
and whites on my products but not on posters,
rather on key chains and skateboards. I will create
more poster merchandise than others making
two of them but I will never go over two of the
same product.
Interview 2
• Do you like merchandise?
Yes I love it.
• What is your favourite type of merchandise and why?
Personally I think clothing is my favourite type of merchandise however not to
childish. This is my favourite because I like to show off my interests.
• Do you own any merchandise. If so what and if not, why not?
Yes I own anime merchandise like tops with quotes or silhouettes and figures of
my favourite characters.
• Do you prefer your products vibrant or black, why?
It depends what the merchandise is, clothing I prefer dark but for figures and
other merchandise I prefer vibrant and colourful.
• What would you prefer on a keychain a logo and title of the game or a
character from it and why?
I would prefer character on a key chain as its pretty boring just having a logo or
title.
Interview 2
• Observation: This person likes clothes the most.
• What this says about my audience: They prefer
darker products and ones that you can see more
visually rather than it being stashed on your keys.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: I
will create more clothing merchandise than
others. The clothes will be brighter just as the
colour white with a different coloured image over
it as the foreground like my black logo.
Audience Profile
Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience
Age Range
10-20 • This is the age group that suits my genre. It
will appeal to this as i will create
merchandise that the younger ages tend to
have and they will be colourful and
Gender
Both • The majority of them will be male but there
will be the odd female so some of my
products could be female based but not as
many as male it will be this gender because
more males buy products rather than
females.
Psychographic
needs driven • This group act upon impulse and instinct.
This group does not plan and will respond to
messages relating to missing opportunities
and impulse buying.
Social Status
Midle class • people in this class own more gaming
products. They all range at lots of different
prices because they are all different
products.
Research Evaluation
Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research.
Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each method
– Product Research
• For this I took many images of different products and then I wrote down what these
different products had and how they appeal to the audience which I have chosen.
– Questionnaires
• I created an account on survey monkey and created a survey of 10 questions of
which I got 15 answers from different people and put them in the PowerPoint and
wrote about what effects it has on the products I am going to create
– Interviews
• My interviews were very similar questions to my survey but they are answered in
more detail because they ask why would you like a certain product that way and
this became more detailed and really allowed me to find out what people want the
most in my merchandise idea.
Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
The responses were all perfect and non of the answers were not serious and
related to my products in some way. I got a great idea of what path to go down
when making my certain products because of the responses they allowed me to
choose colours and ideas that I should carry forward.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage
• To distribute out my survey I got the web link for it and sent it out in some emails
around to other students in college in different classes and then my link was put
on blackboard media page with all the others so anybody in my class could answer
the questions.

2. fmp research

  • 2. Existing Product The logos are very similar in a way that works rather well. Each logo is specific to each game so you can tell them apart but some logos stand out more than others and are more memorable. The logos are all different sizes but I believe it looks better when the logos are larger because they draw the eye because there easier to see so you remember them more. Over every single logo there is the title of the game, The titles are large and have special effect like outlines and different colouring like the red and green which is better than just using plain black. The words that are after the main title like an extra word are usually spaced out in lettering quite far apart. The logo doesn't’t always have to be behind the title though as is shown in the Gwent and mirrors edge logo where they are above and below but I do not think this is as effective. Green is the color of nature. It symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety. Dark green is also commonly associated with money. Red is the color of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love. Connotations:
  • 3. Existing Product The key chains are a good accessory which allows other boring objects like keys look more interesting. The key chains are different, most of these ones are pixelated which gives them interesting shape as they are not round or square, as well as this they are very bright which stands out. They are also just a character from the game they are advertising or an object included inside the game. An effect which makes them stand out more is putting an outline around the art, around the pixels it works because if they didn’t have them it would not look right and the portal ones have them to have it like multiple layers so it stands out more than the black background on it. The assassins creed one is very interesting and has its own logo and title of the game in the centre of the circle and it is a darker silver which is the general colour of the game They are all connected by a decent length chain that is not too long or short and are roughly the circle size of like a 2p. The circle is a universal symbol with extensive meaning. It represents the notions of totality, wholeness, original perfection, the Self, the infinite, eternity, timelessness, all cyclic movement, Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation.
  • 4. Existing Product These posters are very similar firstly in the way that most of them are silhouettes of different colours in the background of a character or creature that will actually appear in the game probably. These ones that have the silhouettes on, at the bottom they are darker colours whereas at the top they are lighter like using gradients. If they are not like this then the posters appear to be dark and have the main character on it and on the outline of this character it glows the colour blue over a black background. The doom title also has this effect but it itself is blue and large/capitalised. Also on it the bottom of each letter it is cut at an angle forming a zig zag effect. All of these appear to the target audience because they seem more developed and harder to look good if you have a silhouette or an explosion glow which attracts the eye rather than just a simple picture and title; the basic fact is it is better to use effects. Black is associated with power, elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery.
  • 5. Existing Product All of the T-shirts have the same similar basic layouts they all have a huge text font of the title of the game and then an image underneath, the images are of a character and they are quite large and on the brighter side where as the actual t-shirt colour is dark. There are no back designs but I would really like to make one on my products because I think then it will not look so plain and boring, therefor it will be more approachable and accepting to people. When you use the character underneath the logo it has its own specific shape and is not confined into a specific shape like a circle and a square. The audience will buy these because they are each unique to one certain game, so you can specifically get one for your own favourite game or you can buy one which is a mash-up.
  • 6. Existing Product All the colours on these different skateboard decks are bright such as red, green and blues and this is so they stand out more which means if it was among others then it would catch the eye. The board will look better if you scatter more things around from a game on it because it fills it up more and makes it look more interesting rather than being one colour plain with art on it. When I talked about neon blue on my posters I may as well include on these decks and make them similar. A heart, the connotation is that it is a symbol of passion and love – this is what the rose represents. The denotation is a representation of a cartoon heart. The connotation is a symbol of love and affection. Blue is the color of the sky and sea. It is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven.
  • 7. Existing Product The colours of all the Xbox covert arts are mostly darker greys and blacks. The different arts that are on the Xbox are generally the same there is usually a character on it from the game at the top and the title in huge letters along the side where the disk ejects, on the assassins creed cover art the logo from the game is included on. The cover art goes all over the Xbox and is accessible for kinect and controllers however I am just sticking with the console.
  • 8. Existing Product T-Shirt (1985) Poster (1980) Logo (1986) The poster has a darker boarder and then becomes lighter as it goes into the middle this is due to using a glow or a gradient. It has a lot of objects on it so it fills it up and makes it look full so it doesn't’t look blank and boring. The bold text has an red outline going around it and has a gradient inside the bubble text going from darker orange at the bottom up too a bright yellow. This looks so full that it is more interesting then a black with white and 1 picture that’s how it appeals more to the selected audience The t-shirt likes to use brighter colours but it has the same layout of where the image is based on the design. This T-shirt has an affect which allows the image to stick out and not be at the same layer as the t-shirt. It does not include one image of just a character It has a section from a game . This appeals to the audience because it is a game suggested for younger people and the genre is perfect. The logo is very bright using gold with an interesting shield shape and the outline of it is a darker colour than the rest. Inside the logo it includes key objects which are included in the game.
  • 9. Research Analysis • What common features do the researched products have? • The common conventions of the gaming style which are repeated are the colours on all of the products, they are all mostly darker colours this relates to the gaming genre very well. All of the text across the products are very big and bold fonts which really brings out the power of the games. • What aspects of the research will you include within your on work? • My existing products will help in the making of my final products I will use all similar colours based on each different product and I will use different ways for each so I will use a character and title for some and then a logo and title for others and then for some such as the Xbox cover art I will use all of them together. For the poster I will make it dark at the bottom by being black and use a gradient or different colour making it lighter a the top. For the logo my text will not go over the top of the image it will either go above or below exactly like the GWENT logo.
  • 11. Audience research • Observation: I have an equal amount of male and females in the survey audience • What this says about my audience: Everybody loves merchandise that are male and female. • How will your product appeal to this audience: I will make my products appeal to males by using darker colours on products I will make less for female but still make some, probably in the t-shirts or key chains. The posters will include black on them at the bottom turning lighter going up.
  • 12. Audience research • Observation: The huge majority are inside my target audience because they are lower than 20 and higher than 10. • What this says about my audience: This means that my audience are younger and are still in education, making the products look complicated and not good looking will make them loose interest. • How will your product appeal to this audience: I need to make products that are suitable and cheap and vary so you can get similar things in different ways. My logo will go on all of the products making them all related like the poster and T- shirt and disc.
  • 13. Audience research • Observation: Most people love the colour green. • What this says about my audience: They all prefer bright colours • How will your product appeal to this audience: I am going to make my logo vey bright probably using the colour green and then I will use some specified colours because they look good. I also think the other suggested colours with blue in sound great and I will use these probably as a part of my poster.
  • 14. Audience research • Observation: People really love key chains and t-shirts. • What this says about my audience: That they are of a younger age and do not own smarter products and they own keys. • How will your product appeal to this audience: I will really focus on the layouts on these two and make more of them. I will make multiple t-shirts and key chains but I will also make many other products.
  • 15. Audience research • Observation: People prefer products to be brighter. • What this says about my audience: They don’t own a lot of dark and like to stand out. • How will your product appeal to this audience: I will create everything with brighter colours like green, reds and blues apart from t-shirts because they look better in black for example my skateboard will be red and blue.
  • 16. Audience research • Observation: Most people like average sized posters. • What this says about my audience: They lie posters a lot but they don’t want them taking up too much space or too little. • How will your product appeal to this audience: It will be an average poster size of 46 x 61 cm and it will look great. I will make two posters this size so I can choose which one i like more.
  • 17. Audience research • Observation: people love character on key chains. • What this says about my audience: That they prefer something unique and out of shape. • How will your product appeal to this audience: I will create a character and then place him on a key chain for example maybe a little pixelated red dragon and I may also include a logo key chain.
  • 18. Audience research • Observation: People love the logo and title of the game on a t-shirt. • What this says about my audience: They love branding and are wearing similar clothing. • How will your product appeal to this audience: It will be a great layout near the chest of the design and I will create a really outstanding unique and bright logo and centre it in the middle.
  • 19. Audience research • Observation: People do own merchandise. • What this says about my audience: That they are keeping up with recent times and prefer to own products that advertise other games. • How will your product appeal to this audience: I will make a wide variety of products and differentiate them. My products will include a poster, skateboard deck, CD cover art, logo for the game, key chains, t-shirt designs, cover art for console
  • 20. Audience research • Observation: Not that many people like skateboarding • What this says about my audience: That if they don’t like skateboarding they wont own one. • How will your product appeal to this audience: If they do like skateboarding I will make it look in a similar genre by using graffiti and psychedelic.
  • 22. Interview 1 • Do you like merchandise? Yes I love it. • What is your favourite type of merchandise and why? Posters because they look better than game cases and you can hang them on your wall. • Do you own any merchandise. If so what and if not, why not? Yes I own a few posters. • Do you prefer your products vibrant or black, why? I prefer colourful posters as they are eye catching. • What would you prefer on a keychain a logo and title of the game or a character from it and why? I would prefer a character on a keychain because you get a better shape and variation.
  • 23. Interview 1 • Observation: He likes posters and bright colours. • What this says about my audience: That they are of a younger age and they like products that are more eye catching by being colourful. • How will your product appeal to this audience: I will use brighter colours such as greens, blues and whites on my products but not on posters, rather on key chains and skateboards. I will create more poster merchandise than others making two of them but I will never go over two of the same product.
  • 24. Interview 2 • Do you like merchandise? Yes I love it. • What is your favourite type of merchandise and why? Personally I think clothing is my favourite type of merchandise however not to childish. This is my favourite because I like to show off my interests. • Do you own any merchandise. If so what and if not, why not? Yes I own anime merchandise like tops with quotes or silhouettes and figures of my favourite characters. • Do you prefer your products vibrant or black, why? It depends what the merchandise is, clothing I prefer dark but for figures and other merchandise I prefer vibrant and colourful. • What would you prefer on a keychain a logo and title of the game or a character from it and why? I would prefer character on a key chain as its pretty boring just having a logo or title.
  • 25. Interview 2 • Observation: This person likes clothes the most. • What this says about my audience: They prefer darker products and ones that you can see more visually rather than it being stashed on your keys. • How will your product appeal to this audience: I will create more clothing merchandise than others. The clothes will be brighter just as the colour white with a different coloured image over it as the foreground like my black logo.
  • 26. Audience Profile Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience Age Range 10-20 • This is the age group that suits my genre. It will appeal to this as i will create merchandise that the younger ages tend to have and they will be colourful and Gender Both • The majority of them will be male but there will be the odd female so some of my products could be female based but not as many as male it will be this gender because more males buy products rather than females. Psychographic needs driven • This group act upon impulse and instinct. This group does not plan and will respond to messages relating to missing opportunities and impulse buying. Social Status Midle class • people in this class own more gaming products. They all range at lots of different prices because they are all different products.
  • 28. Research Evaluation • Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each method – Product Research • For this I took many images of different products and then I wrote down what these different products had and how they appeal to the audience which I have chosen. – Questionnaires • I created an account on survey monkey and created a survey of 10 questions of which I got 15 answers from different people and put them in the PowerPoint and wrote about what effects it has on the products I am going to create – Interviews • My interviews were very similar questions to my survey but they are answered in more detail because they ask why would you like a certain product that way and this became more detailed and really allowed me to find out what people want the most in my merchandise idea.
  • 29. Research Evaluation – What sort of a response did you get? The responses were all perfect and non of the answers were not serious and related to my products in some way. I got a great idea of what path to go down when making my certain products because of the responses they allowed me to choose colours and ideas that I should carry forward. – How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage • To distribute out my survey I got the web link for it and sent it out in some emails around to other students in college in different classes and then my link was put on blackboard media page with all the others so anybody in my class could answer the questions.
