Q7 - Looking back to your preliminary task, what do you feel that you have learnt in the
progression from it to the full product?
Preliminary vs Main
Project
CONVENTIONS
• Looking back at my preliminary task I have learnt that conventions are very
important key element to a magazine and that they are used for to entice the target
audiences.
• Comparing my school magazine to my music magazine i can see the developments
where i have improved from my preliminary task. It was very dull and boring
because of the lack of sell lines and colours used. Since both magazines are
completely different, i can tell what conventions should we used for a particular
magazine.
• Looking at them side by side, i can see that the use of photoshop has helped
improved my CAD skills on editing and construction.
THE JOURNEY
• For both magazines i had to think carefully about who i aim targeting
my magazine at. Since my preliminary task was set for school student
it was fairly easy to construct and didn’t need much editing on.
Whereas for my music mag this had to be the most difficult as i still
wasn’t sure of what i wanted my genre to be and who i will aiming it
towards.
• Research and analysis has helped me through my journey when
creating my media product because a lot has to be considered
especially with the conventions on how you want to attract the
attention of your audience into like your magazine.
• Sketching and drafting everything out before designing has guided me
into into creating the perfect magazine by putting together the layout
presentation of my work.
PRODUCTION
✤ Producing the actual product of my magazine was a very fun process because of the
use of tools and softwares i came across on photoshop. However the production
process did take long to construct for my music magazine where as for my preliminary
i did not use any good CAD to make it exciting unlike my main project.
✤ Being able to draft and use my sketches to construct my product has helped me with
my planing and organization skills which had helped me create the actual final piece.
