What creative opportunities can you see in this project? How could you challenge yourself
creatively in this project? You can refer to your previous experience here.
Creatively I think that this project will be a very good chance for me to think about designing
many different kinds of products that I have not created before, such as point of sale displays
and in store media. This will develop my creative skills and push me to develop my initial ideas
in more depth and explore different directions in could go within the design of the products I
wish to create, which is something that I have struggled with in past projects.
What technical opportunities for development are available in this project? What technical
challenges could you set yourself? You can refer to your previous experience here.
Depending on what kind of products I will be creating, I could develop my skills in InDesign (if I
were producing a flyer for example) as this is something that I have extremely struggled with in
other past projects. There are some skills within Photoshop which could be developed within
this project if I decide to produce certain ideas within the programme. I could also decide to
take my own photographs to be included within my products; this would therefore be
developing my photographic skills and could help me in the future also.
How could the skills you are using and developing here be useful in a professional context?
Consider the requirements for different job roles.
Working to a brief is a very important part of professionalism, I think that this particular project
will push me to work to and develop the brief. In order to make all of my products have a
professional look to them it will be imperative for me that I learn to work to a house style.
There are many other skills that could be developed within this project, and in the real
professional world of print based media, having all of these different skills will mean that I will
seem more flexible and therefore more employable and valuable within the work place. I could
develop my marketing skills as well as copy writing, graphic and web design.
What opportunities for designing for different media does this project give you? Which final
product type interests you the most and why?
This project gives me the opportunity to explore and work in a wide variety of different
medias, not only print based products such as billboards, posters and leaflets, but also headers
for websites, advertisement images that could appear online, I could even explore sponsorship
options of advertising.
