In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
2. Channel 4
For our documentary, we chose to
broadcast it on channel 4, as our
documentary has a niche theme and
suits the general genre of channel 4.
Thus, we had to follow the guidelines of
a channel 4 print advert.
3. Inspiration in real texts
Consequently, we had to look for inspiration from
real texts in relation to the codes and conventions
of a print advert.

4. Codes and conventions
The codes and conventions of the
channel 4 print advert included the
channel 4 symbol being in the centre
right, not obstructing the picture, it also fit
the colour scheme of the main image.
The text is always positioned at the
bottom left corner, again fitting the colour
scheme and always using a basic font.
5. We wanted to use an
image for our print advert
that we felt represented
the content of our
documentary. We found
this image through google
images, and thus intended
to recreate it. We followed
the channel 4 print advert
conventions of basic text,
and the channel 4 logo in
the centre right of the
image.
6. This is our final
print advert. It is
similar to the
previous image
and it is clear how
we have drew
inspiration from it.
