1. Question 1) Using Photoshop to follow
the codes and conventions for the
production of the Newspaper
Advertisement.
Throughout the production of all three media products, now fully
completed I have followed the codes and conventions previously
identified therefore ensuring a professional outlook.
2. Firstly we looked at the codes and conventions of a newspaper
advertisement. We did this buy looking at ones that are already out
there. The channel we wanted the documentary to preview on is
Channel 4 and so it was appropriate to look at Channel 4 print adverts
in order to create something successful.
The newspaper advertisement included taking an appropriate and
creative image – this was something we struggled with as the image
had to be re taken a few times in order to get it right.
3. We wanted it to be creative so it would link to the documentary and be
more interesting for the audience to look at, for this we used the swimmer
we interviewed and got him to lift a
weight above his head, fitting in
with the slogan “raising the bar”,
along with a basketball under his
foot, swimming goggles on his head,
a rugby ball under one arm, a
badminton racket in his hand and
we also photo shopped the dog
used into the image also, reflecting
the exposition of the documentary.
4. The main convention of the news
advertisement is displaying the title of
the documentary clearly. We did this
using a Channel 4 style font ensuring it
looked professional.
We incorporated the channel 4 logo onto the advert as this is
the preview channel. The logo is white fitting with the font
colour and overall colour scheme, as it stands out more.
Another main convention of the news advert is
the schedule information: this was set at 8.30pm
as it was appropriate for our target audience.

The slogan is placed under the title being the
next biggest font size. It was important to
creatively think of a slogan to fit with the
documentary and image.
