Q7
1. LOOKING BACK AT YOUR
PRELIMINARY TASK, WHAT
DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE
LEARNT IN THE
PROGRESSION FROM IT TO
THE FULL PRODUCT?
2. My photography skills have
certainly improved, as the
pictures I have captured for
my final product are far
more ambitious.
I have also gained greater
knowledge of the camera,
understanding how to alter
the ISO and the shutter
speed to get a brighter,
clearer image
PHOTOGRAPHY
3. I have also become more
comfortable with the
photoshop tools
available, and even
ventured on to other,
more complex software
such as indesign. This
has made my final
product better as I have
been able to utilise more
resources.
EDITING
4. My final piece also appears to be a lot better
thought out than my preliminary task, as I had
a longer period of time to plan it out.
Thus, my planning skills have improved
considerably, as now I understand how pre-
production can improve the final outcome
significantly.
PLANNING
5. I have also learnt more
about my target audience
and what they look for in a
magazine.
The final product required
much more planning and
investigation into the
demographic and through
this I have learnt how to
meet the customers
demands.
AUDIENCE
6. I have also learnt how to
arrange a magazine so that
it imitates a professional
magazine far better,
through intricate analysis
of a magazines codes and
conventions, my final
product follows all the
guidelines and is even
based off of an NME issue
I now know how to create a
professional product
PROFESSIONALISM
7. The images between the two magazines also vary
significantly.
The image on my school magazine was not the
best quality and I also never got the chance to
edit it or add any effects. The coverlines in my
preliminary task are also not to a professional
standard and the general quality of the school
magazine is poor and lacks the planning that my
final product received.
I also learnt how to create a double page spread
during the production of my final product as my
preliminary task did not require one.
Additionally, I experimented more with the
software available and used InDesign with my
final product however only photoshop with my
preliminary task.
Furthermore, the colour scheme of my final
product ties in far better with the images used
and general style of the magazine. The models
used throughout were targeted specifically to
ensure an indie style and so it is clear that I have
acknowledged the audiences requirements more
during the production of my final piece.
