The document summarizes Jake Jarvis's evaluation of his podcast production project. Some strengths of his research included focusing on similar genre podcasts to understand formatting and targeting skateboarding audiences. However, he only researched a limited number of podcasts. His planning process was clear and organized using mind maps, though handwriting was difficult to read. Time management was good overall but the podcast could have benefitted from more time for longer interviews and additional research. Feedback noted the podcast was too short and could be improved with more guests and variety in questions. Based on this, Jake plans to make the podcast longer, include more questions and guests.
3. Research
• One strength of my research is that I researched podcasts that were the
same genre as the podcast I produced. So it helped me get a good idea of
how it should be laid out and presented.
• Another strength of my research is that when researching the
skateboarding podcasts it helped me find what kind of target audience
and demographic I want to aim my own product towards.
• One weakness of my research is that I don’t think I researched a large
enough variety of different types of podcasts as I mainly researched
skateboarding podcasts.
• Another weakness of my research is that I researched BBC’s blue planet
and it wasn’t the right product to research as it is aimed towards a
complete different audience my final product would be aimed towards
4. Planning
• One strength of my planning was that It was clear and organised because I
did noted all my ideas onto mind maps to give a clear representation of
what I've planned.
• Another strength of my planning is that it was quick and easy to produce
ideas and to note them down on the mind maps.
• One weakness of my planning was that I started to handwrite it was hard
to decipher so I moved onto planning my work on the computers.
• Another weakness of my planning its difficult to find a variety of royalty
free music to use in my product that fits to the genre.
5. Time Management
• Personally I think I managed my time well during this project as I have met
most deadlines during this project. I think my product would have
definitely been improved if I had additional time. I would have improved
my work by first making the duration of the interview longer as my final
product is only two minutes long. I would also improve my script by having
more questions to ask and possibly more guests to interview. When
recording my interview it took quite a few takes to get right , if I were to
do it again I would like to hopefully have the recording done in one take.
During research if I had more time I think I could have researched a larger
variety of audio products to help me get a better idea of the product I
want to create.

The Nine Club
My podcast
The nine club is a very similar existing product to my own as it
interviews skateboarders about their professional career. One of
the main differences between my own product and the nine
club is that the nine club can range from an hour to 3 hours
longs whereas mine is just 2 minutes long. Another similarity is
that both products have an introduction and an outro. Another
difference between the product is that the nine club try to
interview the skateboarder about their career chronologically
whereas in my product I asked the skater about their career in a
random order
7. Aural Qualities
• Personally I think my piece of work is aurally
pleasing for the editing software that I used
because all the audio is clear there's isn't any
audio that’s to quiet. I feel like I could improve
my audio because the duration is only 2
minutes long whereas if I made the interview
longer I could put more sound effects in and
possibly could put some music in the
background.
8. Audience Appeal
My target audiences age range I tried to appeal
to was teenagers 15-24. I think I appealed to the
age range as it shows professional athletes that
the teenagers can see as a role model figure that
they can look up to or relate to. I would like to
say I appealed to both male and female genders
but as there is only males on the podcast I feel
like it may only appeal to the male demographic.
I tried to appeal to the psychographic “Belonger”
I tried to appeal to them because this group likes
to be apart of a community orientated brand so
to appeal to this group we were going try and
make the show to have a competition to involve
the viewers. I would like to think I appealed to
most social statuses as the podcast is free but
has some merchandise on the web store for
some viewers who want to support the brand

show

– I like how the podcast involves pro skateboarders
being interviewed about their life and
skateboarding career
What improvements could have been made to
the product?

13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback? I agree with most of the feedback
such as where the podcast is to short, needs
more guests and a larger variety of questions
to help the podcast stay longer
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback? I don’t disagree with any of my
peer feedback
14. Peer Feedback Summary
The main changes I would make to my final product based on the
peer feedback would be to make the podcast longer to make it
seem more appealing to people who want to sit down and listen to
it. Another change I would make would be to have a larger variety
of questions to keep the audience interested and to make the
podcast longer in duration. Another change I would make would be
to hopefully to interview more guests on the show to get a larger
variety of personalities and to also help make the duration of the
show longer
