3. Analysis
Looking at this CD cover I can see that the image of Katy Perry is
promoting a ‘pin up’ look and almost seems like a painted image. This
image reminds me of both the Madonna pop art album cover and also
Andy Warhol’s creation of Marilyn Monroe. Both of these images are also
of the woman's face.
It seems that inspiration has been taken from Madonna’s album cover of
‘Celebration’ to create this CD cover. However the background and
styling are different and this seems to have created a ‘cleaner’ look.
The plain background helps to emphasise the artist and the way they are
being presented.
4. Image
This has created a fun, clean image for Katy Perry and it seems that this
was the look she was aiming for. An artist’s image is very important when
promoting their products as this is going to target particular people.
The pin up look is very iconic and can be seen on various artists including
those from the 1950’s and 1960’s. She is sporting dark hair on this cover and
this emphasises her face, giving her a girly frame. Again this is going to
attract the teenage girl target market.
The text on this album cover is very ‘girly’ and ‘bubbly’ which will have an
influence on the sales of the product as this is going to attract the target
audience for this album which is teenage girls.
