Fashion
• The overall look achieved by this band is styles with very casual pieces.
They incorporate classic pieces like the black leather jacket and white t-
shit but with noticeable twists and differences. This connotes an original,
‘cool’ and indie look. The colours are very muted in order to illustrate the
modern elements within their music and attract a trendy young target
market.
Style
• In terms of their band name, the font they use is very unique and
individual therefore enables the band to create a recognizable name that
is always associated with their music. The style of their font is black in
order to be clear and readable.
This is the latest album cover of The 1975, it continues to give
off a very modern ‘cool’ vibe in order to entice the youthful
and student based target market. The monochrome colour
scheme connotes that the album is perhaps mysterious and
has lots of new unheard songs. Alternatively; the styling of
this cover is minimal and simplistic and could aim to reflect
the band as honest and not hiding anything.

5. Nina Nesbitt
Fashion & Beauty
Nina Nesbitt has a very tomboy style but balances it out with feminine
accessories like necklaces and is consistent with girly makeup. She often wears
a red lip and big winged eyeliner, this is her signature look and she appears
wearing it on her album cover. She also has very blonde hair which looks dyed,
this shows that she is feminine in her style but also very alternative as she
wears flannel shirts and leather jackets which are often associated with the
genre. The image she gives off is attractive to her teenage target market; it is
very easy to imitate, her clothes look recognisable therefore could be bought
from popular shops like ‘Topshop’ and her makeup is simple so can be
replicated by teenage girls that idolise her.
Style
Nina Nesbitt has a very modern simplistic and ‘cool’ style, her name is
recognizable as she uses the same font for her name as she does for her EP’s.
Her font style is simplistic an clear in order to be very readable and noticeable
by a teenage target market.

chaotic. Alternative
style is either very
simple and basic or
bright and often
unusual. I would class
this outfit as unusual
as it is heavily
meshed while
remaining feminine
and pretty.

7. In this image a girl has grey/silver hair which is highly associated with an
alternative/grunge style. I like this style as it is rare therefore defines
individuality. I think it would make my magazine stand out and appeal to
my target market of young adults/teenagers.
The metallic silver colouring on the lips in this image is very
unique and ‘cool’ therefore appeals to the target market of
an alternative magazine because it aims at teenagers that
like originality, it would attract more of a female audience.
The eye make up presented here is very artistic and unusual, this gives her
a very alternative vibe therefore appeals to the market audience of an
alternative music magazine. The make up looks effective but is easy to
replicate for teenage girls that the magazine appeals to.
The outfits in this image are monochrome but look
appealing because they are very interesting and unique. The
look very modern and ‘cool’ therefore don’t look feminine as
they stereotypical light and pastel colours. One of the
models in wearing a hat which is often associated with an
alternative genre.

8. This band name is very recognisable, it
is very clear and readable. The capital
letters embrace intensity without
making them seem intimidating. The
letter ‘a’ is replaced by a triangle, this
makes their name more unique and
individual that other bands they are
competing with. A name like this would
stand out on a magazine cover and
attract the fans of this band as well as
all round music fans.
This alternative band, Bastille, have
a very casual style. The image shows
them all in simple t-shirts. This
image is easily replicable by fans and
their target market teenage boys.
Also, one of the band members is
wearing a denim jacket, this
connotes a very ‘cool’ and trendy
vibe for the band. The band are not
particularly well groomed, facial hair
and long hair is commonly
associated with the alternative
genre.
