Contents page analysis
Ellie Money
Masthead:
The masthead is again using the
colour scheme of red, similar to the
front cover. This is to represent the
brand image to further entice readers.
This is because a brand can bring in
repeat purchase and customer
loyalty. Meaning that more and more
people will purchase the magazine
because they are familiar with the
brand image.
Main image:
The main image is again of Cheryl Cole which is the same to the
front cover. It is an effective idea to repeat the same model because
it allows the magazine to flow and it is familiar to the reader’s eye.
Furthermore, the image is taking up the majority of the right third.
This is important as it then means the
text is positioned on the left third
meaning it will capture more attention.
This is effective and supportive of codes
and conventions because the text needs
to withhold the main focal point as it is
the most important part.
Other images:
There are two other images on
the contents page when not
including the main image. These
two images are a lot smaller
than the main image. However
they are still effective and
important. This is because they
allow the reader to be informed
that this magazine is targeted at
older people due to the mans
bare skin being displayed.
Therefore connoting with older
people because it may be seen
as inappropriate for younger
age groups.
Colour scheme:
The colour scheme is again followed on
from the front cover. This is supportive
of codes and conventions because
many music magazine tend to have a
certain house style or colour scheme of
which they stick to throughout the entire
magazine. Therefore this magazine is
very stereotypically with regards to its
colour scheme. This is an effective
choice because the colour can
therefore become familiar for the reader
and make them feel comfortable. It also
allows the magazine to flow.
