2. Front Cover
The masthead of the magazine has an outer glow around it. This
makes it look more aesthetically pleasing and also keeps it easy
to read. Another way in which the masthead attracts the
audience is that it is short and snappy and by having a direct link
with the genre. This is attracts the audience because it makes it
effective. A final way in which the masthead attracts the
audience is that there is a definite link to the genre, a chord in
music is three or 4 notes played in harmony.
The red bubble attracts the audience because the colour is a
complete contrast with the rest of the cover. Having it red is also
a very eye catching colour. This attracts the audience because it
draws the readers attention to that particular area.
Having the sell lines over on the right hand side of the cover
conforms with the convention used on real magazines by not
interfering with the main image. All the text has the same outer
glow as the masthead. This is good as it shows a consistency on
the page. The outer glow was also done to make the sell lines
easier to read. This is very important as the main job of sell lines
is to inform the audience of what’s going to be in the magazine
3. Contents page
The title of the contents page attracts the audience because it is a very
dominant figure – taking up the whole width of the page. With the
additions of the red lines makes it look a bit more professional. This
attracts the audience because it will reflect the quality of the magazine.
Also you notice the font of the word ‘contents’ is the same as front cover,
this shows a good element of consistency.
The big red banner at the bottom of the page stands out and attracts the
reader because of the bright colour and it draws the attention of the
reader.
The two pictures attract the audience because they are fairly big on the
page. The biggest picture out of the two refers to the main article. This is
a good way to address your audience as it makes sense to have the
biggest picture related to the main article.
4. Double Page Spread
As for the double page spread I attracted
my audience by using the bright, vibrant
colour. This is good as not only does it
make the page look more aesthetically
pleasing, it makes it easier to read. This is
very important as a double page spread is
there to inform. Another way I have
attracted my audience is the angled sell
line in the coloured box which is fading
away. I like this because the angle is
striking and eye-catching and the fading
effect makes it look good as well.
The way that I have addressed my
audience is that I have made the layout of
magazine very easy to understand. I have
done this by separating the text into two
columns and having the questions a
different colour to the answers, making it
easier to read. It is very conventional so
therefore I believe that it is the best to use.
