Lifestyle diseases (also sometimes called diseases of longevity or diseases of civilization interchangeably) are diseases that appear to increase in frequency as countries become more industrialized and people live longer. They include hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, and overweight/obesity associated with cardiovascular diseases, Alzheimer's disease, cancer, chronic liver disease or cirrhosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, metabolic syndrome, chronic renal failure, stroke, depression. These are diseases associated with the way a person or group of people live Advocating proper dietary management, lifestyle advice are the core principles of Ayurveda to prevent Life style disorders. The various regimens explained in Ayurveda which include Dinacharya (daily regimen), Ritucharya (seasonal regimen), Sadvritta (ideal routines) are guidelines to prevent and manage Life style Disorders.

Topic: Nature of life style and health behavior of individual in the community. Life Style: Life style is the way in which a person lives. Health Behavior: Health behavior is an action taken by a person to maintain, attain, or regain good health and to prevent illness. Health behavior reflects a person's health beliefs. Some common health behaviors are exercising regularly, eating a balanced diet, and obtaining necessary inoculations. Preventive Health Behavior: Any activity undertaken by an individual who believes himself to be healthy, for the purpose of preventing or detecting illness in an asymptomatic state. Illness Behavior: Any activity that undertaken by an individual who perceives himself to be ill. Sick Role behavior: Any activity that undertaken by an individual who considers himself to be ill, for purpose of getting well. It includes receiving treatment from medical providers, generally involve a whole range dependent behaviors and leads to some degree of exemption from ones usual responsibilities. Lifestyle is a term which can have at least three different meanings: 1. The values that a person expresses with reference to a limited number of basic dimensions (freedom, justice, equality etc) 2. A group or cluster of attitudes, opinions, interests and activities. 3. Actual patterns of behaviors eg, lifestyle characterized by substance abuse or an active leisure time involving sports, work in political organizations, etc. Healthy lifestyle refers to basic human functions and the patterns linking various activities of everyday living .these activities includes eating and drinking ,physical activity, use of tobacco, alcohol and substance abuse, sexual behaviors, coping with stress, self care, working ,caring for others and the quality and safety of home, workplace and other built environments. Not all disease are preventable are preventable, but large proportion of deaths, particularly those from coronary heart disease and lung cancer can be avoided. A healthy lifestyle is a way of living that lowers the risk of being seriously ill or dying early. Determinants of health strongly influence lifestyles. These include individual behaviors and biology, economics, social, psychological, and physical environments and access to healthcare. Promoting healthy lifestyle involves enhancing individual responsibility and capability as well as enabling environments.

When looking at a half million worth of brain surgeries, out of state, with a year recovery time, with no guarantees, at 54, she set out to look at natural ways of dealing with this condition.
