Main area of activity is more going to be based around video game aspect of things, particularly
more in the area of a more animation style.
Rationale:
In the past two years of this course I feel that I have come along quite well and have managed to
learn many new skills of which I would not have seen myself to be able to do until now. Such skills
that I have acquired have mainly been acquired from tutorial videos that I have found on websites
such as YouTube /tutorials in lessons, I feel that with this being my FMP I am ready to include all
of the skills I found in tutorials into this production so I get try to get the best grade/outcome
possible. I feel that I need to work much harder with this production as my previous
production/brief ‘client project’ I didn’t really know what I was doing for it and when it came to the
production I found myself to be in a rush to get something done but didn’t really know what I was
making so this time I will be making sure I know exactly what I’m creating and how to get it done.
Project Concept:
The main concept for my production with this brief is more the idea to create a video game but
more in the aspect of an animation game based around the style of ‘Mario’ so I will be following
some of the concepts ideas that are featured in the much loved animation games such as ‘Mario’,
besides this I will obviously be looking at some other already existing examples that I could take
into consideration as I feel it will help to broaden my ideas and improve my production. In my game
I plan to include the idea of having various different levels throughout my game each set in
different locations as you progress through the game. I thought this to be a good idea as It helps to
create a much more in-depth detailed game, that and it will keep the player interested.
To help keep things changed up and not same old throughout the levels in my game, it will be
different in each level. For example, when you first open up my game and start ‘level 1’ it will be
based on just walking through a country side until you come across a lift/shaft. Obviously along the
way of this level I plan on including some form of objects of which you’ll need to jump over to get
past. As you get past this level however, this is when things change. When you reach the next
levels, I plan to use the idea of having enemies of which you have to kill/avoid to get past. (but they
will be unable to throw anything/attack back. As the levels continue from here there will be more
enemies/ the enemies will start fighting back i.e. shooting/throwing objects. I feel that my game on
a whole doesn’t have a storyline/place to end up, I feel that it is more a game based for people to
enjoy themselves/have a bit of fun without getting to stressed out by it all/needing to be in a rush to
get to a place (a more chilled out approach a bit like the Mario games). For me the
player/character doesn’t really have anything to achieve apart from making it to the end, jumping
over objects and avoiding/killing enemies, for some this might be seen as boring, but I think it will
be perfect especially considering the age audience of which I am planning on aiming my game at.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
When it comes to the time of evaluating my production I feel that I will try to use various different
ideas when it comes to the evaluation, the main thing for my evaluation will obviously be giving my
own personal opinion on the production and once done that I will be asking people on their
opinions so it’s not just based over my own opinion as if it was just my own it’d be seen to be unfair
in some people’s eyes and obviously my opinion would mostly be just favourable. Finally, I will look
at comparing my production to already existing examples and compare the differences and
similarities and finally I will look at what I could work on improving with my production, once done
that I’ll give my final overview and opinion.

Week Tasks to be Completed: Specific Tasks
1 Pre-production  Proposal and background research
2 Pre-production  Research- primary and secondary. Look more at
the primary audience- be looking more at what
they are interested in/enjoy doing.
3 Pre-production  Research- primary and secondary. Aim more at
looking at the secondary audience. What are
their interests ext. How they compare primary
audience (similarities)
4 Pre-production  Experiments. Look at already existing production
to get an idea of what I could look at creating.
This could include the idea of me looking at some
videos of techniques being used.
5 Pre-production  Experiments. - Based from the videos I have
watched look at carrying out some experiments
of my own that I might like to use in my actual
production.
6 Pre-production  Pre-Production and planning. – Look at final
details/planning that I might want to include in
production. i.e. finalising idea ex text/back-up
plan.
7 Pre-production  Pre-Production and planning – Look at creating
some mock-ups of what I want my potential
production to look like- take some time to look at
potential problems that might occur.
8 Production  Production and reflections- be starting first day of
production, be looking at the immediate
background for first area of my game. End of day
fill out first reflection of production (how the day
went ext)
9 Production  Production and reflection- Carry on where I left of
the previous day looking at continuing work on
my background details of the first area of my
game. Try to make some form of good progress.
10 Production  Production and reflection- Be looking at moving
onto creating the next area of background for my
game. Be checking over to make sure I am
happy with what I have produced so far. Spend a

longer amount of time on my reflection, to read
through it and make sure I am happy with what I
have already done so far. Once done that, fill out
todays reflection.
11 Production  Production and reflection- At this point I should
be a good way through my production, and this
week I should be looking at adding in more
details to my production rather than background.
(build things up production wise).
12 Production  Production and reflection – Make start on the
background details of the lower levels of my
game. (darker levels) look at using darker
colours. Make sure to keep on top of reflections.
13 Production  Production- Look at adding in details to game
where I have created the background (but still be
looking at finalising background and making sure
I am happy with it).
14 Production  Production and reflection – with being at my last
week of production I need to be looking at
coming to the final stages of creating my game.
Main focus should be getting in last details and
making sure I am happy with what I have
created. Finishing of last few pieces of reflection
and checking over it to make sure it makes
sense.
15 Evaluation  Evaluation- At the start of this week I need to be
looking at making a start on my evaluation.
Looking at talking about my production and my
overall opinion on it (pros and cons) along with
the improvements of which I would/could make.
16 Evaluation  Evaluation- Look at comparing my production to
already existing products, more focusing on the
similarities and differences (which is better and
why).
17 Evaluation  In the stages of getting my evaluation completed
I will be looking at showing my work to various
different people and getting them to give their
opinions on It (pros and cons) (what I could have
done better ext ext). this feedback is important as
it is feedback of which would influence any
changes I made to my production.
18 Moderation  Mostly based around tutor looking at work (based
around it being marked
19 Show Preparation  In this week I will be looking at getting all my
work together into one place so that I am ready to
show to people. This mainly means getting all my
production and documents onto my website.

multiple other people’s work(more focused on
being able to compare your work to others).

  • 1. Proposal 1 Centre Name and Number: York College 48357 Student Name and Number: Caleb Henry Wilcox 343955 Project proposal title and date: Animation game Monster Miner Main area of activity: Main area of activity is more going to be based around video game aspect of things, particularly more in the area of a more animation style. Rationale: In the past two years of this course I feel that I have come along quite well and have managed to learn many new skills of which I would not have seen myself to be able to do until now. Such skills that I have acquired have mainly been acquired from tutorial videos that I have found on websites such as YouTube /tutorials in lessons, I feel that with this being my FMP I am ready to include all of the skills I found in tutorials into this production so I get try to get the best grade/outcome possible. I feel that I need to work much harder with this production as my previous production/brief ‘client project’ I didn’t really know what I was doing for it and when it came to the production I found myself to be in a rush to get something done but didn’t really know what I was making so this time I will be making sure I know exactly what I’m creating and how to get it done. Project Concept: The main concept for my production with this brief is more the idea to create a video game but more in the aspect of an animation game based around the style of ‘Mario’ so I will be following some of the concepts ideas that are featured in the much loved animation games such as ‘Mario’, besides this I will obviously be looking at some other already existing examples that I could take into consideration as I feel it will help to broaden my ideas and improve my production. In my game I plan to include the idea of having various different levels throughout my game each set in different locations as you progress through the game. I thought this to be a good idea as It helps to create a much more in-depth detailed game, that and it will keep the player interested. To help keep things changed up and not same old throughout the levels in my game, it will be different in each level. For example, when you first open up my game and start ‘level 1’ it will be based on just walking through a country side until you come across a lift/shaft. Obviously along the way of this level I plan on including some form of objects of which you’ll need to jump over to get past. As you get past this level however, this is when things change. When you reach the next levels, I plan to use the idea of having enemies of which you have to kill/avoid to get past. (but they will be unable to throw anything/attack back. As the levels continue from here there will be more enemies/ the enemies will start fighting back i.e. shooting/throwing objects. I feel that my game on a whole doesn’t have a storyline/place to end up, I feel that it is more a game based for people to enjoy themselves/have a bit of fun without getting to stressed out by it all/needing to be in a rush to get to a place (a more chilled out approach a bit like the Mario games). For me the player/character doesn’t really have anything to achieve apart from making it to the end, jumping over objects and avoiding/killing enemies, for some this might be seen as boring, but I think it will be perfect especially considering the age audience of which I am planning on aiming my game at. How will the project be evaluated and reviewed: When it comes to the time of evaluating my production I feel that I will try to use various different ideas when it comes to the evaluation, the main thing for my evaluation will obviously be giving my own personal opinion on the production and once done that I will be asking people on their opinions so it’s not just based over my own opinion as if it was just my own it’d be seen to be unfair in some people’s eyes and obviously my opinion would mostly be just favourable. Finally, I will look at comparing my production to already existing examples and compare the differences and similarities and finally I will look at what I could work on improving with my production, once done that I’ll give my final overview and opinion.

Look more at the primary audience- be looking more at what they are interested in/enjoy doing. 3 Pre-production  Research- primary and secondary. Aim more at looking at the secondary audience. What are their interests ext. How they compare primary audience (similarities) 4 Pre-production  Experiments. Look at already existing production to get an idea of what I could look at creating. This could include the idea of me looking at some videos of techniques being used. 5 Pre-production  Experiments. - Based from the videos I have watched look at carrying out some experiments of my own that I might like to use in my actual production. 6 Pre-production  Pre-Production and planning. – Look at final details/planning that I might want to include in production. i.e. finalising idea ex text/back-up plan. 7 Pre-production  Pre-Production and planning – Look at creating some mock-ups of what I want my potential production to look like- take some time to look at potential problems that might occur. 8 Production  Production and reflections- be starting first day of production, be looking at the immediate background for first area of my game. End of day fill out first reflection of production (how the day went ext) 9 Production  Production and reflection- Carry on where I left of the previous day looking at continuing work on my background details of the first area of my game. Try to make some form of good progress. 10 Production  Production and reflection- Be looking at moving onto creating the next area of background for my game. Be checking over to make sure I am happy with what I have produced so far. Spend a

Once done that, fill out todays reflection. 11 Production  Production and reflection- At this point I should be a good way through my production, and this week I should be looking at adding in more details to my production rather than background. (build things up production wise). 12 Production  Production and reflection – Make start on the background details of the lower levels of my game. (darker levels) look at using darker colours. Make sure to keep on top of reflections. 13 Production  Production- Look at adding in details to game where I have created the background (but still be looking at finalising background and making sure I am happy with it). 14 Production  Production and reflection – with being at my last week of production I need to be looking at coming to the final stages of creating my game. Main focus should be getting in last details and making sure I am happy with what I have created. Finishing of last few pieces of reflection and checking over it to make sure it makes sense. 15 Evaluation  Evaluation- At the start of this week I need to be looking at making a start on my evaluation. Looking at talking about my production and my overall opinion on it (pros and cons) along with the improvements of which I would/could make. 16 Evaluation  Evaluation- Look at comparing my production to already existing products, more focusing on the similarities and differences (which is better and why). 17 Evaluation  In the stages of getting my evaluation completed I will be looking at showing my work to various different people and getting them to give their opinions on It (pros and cons) (what I could have done better ext ext). this feedback is important as it is feedback of which would influence any changes I made to my production. 18 Moderation  Mostly based around tutor looking at work (based around it being marked 19 Show Preparation  In this week I will be looking at getting all my work together into one place so that I am ready to show to people. This mainly means getting all my production and documents onto my website. 20 Show  Showing my work to others and looking at multiple other people’s work(more focused on being able to compare your work to others).
