2. Initial Reaction
• My overall opinion on making the video game is that at first I was thinking that we
where to make a proper non 2D game as we had made in the last project that
although I enjoyed making the 2D video game I didn’t have as much capability as if
I had used another software that had advanced graphics which could have been
used.
• The problem I have using 2D graphics is that you cannot get the level of detail you
can with using 3D graphics. For example I could never get the graphics similar to a
game such as COD as it is 3D and they have insane graphics compared to a 2D
game because they are pixelated.
• As well another reaction to making a video game is that thankfully this time we
can make a game that Is based around anything we want and we don’t have a
specific thing which we have to base it around and also they is no brand which has
to be sold to the public as I found that making things around irn-bru where quite
boring as there isn’t much to do with the irn-bru drink which we were told to.
4. Mind Map
This is my final design but although there are two above this I
want to combine the two into one so the main part will be the
escape the tower game but I will include the aspect of it being
in an apocalypse because I want to make it so as you escape
you realise that the world has come to a holt and then
everyone that you knew has perished at have been resurrected
into a new being which want to kill anything with a pulse and
then virus which made them resurrect is in the air so everyone
in the world has it, so you must get out of the prison and try
and kill them and stop them from reaching other countries
6. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected?
Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
There is slight repetition in the images I have used because the majority are made
around zombie games which I have based my game around as well I mainly chose the
theme of zombies because I like having unrealistic aspects in my video game also I
went for other images of games which involve the player escaping out of things to free
themselves for example in The escapists which makes you go through all the trouble of
finding what you need to escape then finally doing it and you either fail or succeed
with your colleagues.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
My mood board will influence me to make sure that I tick of both of these things
which I want in my game and aim to make them as good as I can, and by also
comparing my game to theirs to see what similarities and comparisons there are as I
go through making the game making sure to check back every so often.
7. Schedule
WEEK OVERALL PLAN SPECIFIC TASKS
1 Case Study, Initial Response,
Product Research
This week I will finish the research for what I need to do which
will include the case study which Is pretty much finished and
also the research which nearly finished.
2 Audience Research,
Production Experiments,
Proposal, Planning
For this week I will need to make sure that I complete all of the
plans which I need to seen on the left and the main ones being
the audience research and the proposal as they will be more
than likely the most time taking part of the planning.
3 Production For this week I will start of by making my 2D video game which I
have planned in the last 2 weeks of the course and will try and
make it the best I can.
4 Production For the fourth week I will finish off my animation part of the
video game and move onto finding audio and sound effects for
whatever happens in the game and I will have to edit any
effects in which I want to add.
5 Evaluation For the Final week it will be used for evaluating my final project
which will one of the most time consuming things as we will
have to write as much as we need to complete the evaluation
as if I don’t finish any of it I will fail this project as I will have
stuff missing which will be unmark able.
