Working Title:
SwordQuest
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience:
My audience is going to be more based around the age group of which I am and that will be
based around 17-19 years old. However with this being my main target age range I also feel
that my audience can be based towards 10-25 year olds along with 5-10 year olds as people
at the age as little as 5-10 tend to already be playing games on IOS, although they probably
have no idea what they are doing they still get the satisfaction from playing them.I feel that
there should be the option for my game to be more based around the idea of appealing to
both the male and female audience and I believe this would be possible hence the idea of
the bright and dark colours. The light colours will obviously appeal to everyone but
inparticually women, as they tend to generally like light/bright colours. Then coming onto
the dark colours I feel will more appeal to men as I feel darker colours are seen to be more
manly colours, so hopefully the second part of my game will more appeal to men/some
women depending on what they like/prefer. I feel that they would be more the kind of people
who are coming out of education, as I feel that they would be the kind who would have the
time to actually play the game, with having left education, they normally won’t have much
to do apart from looking for work, so obviously they are most likely to play it. I want my
audience to have a high interest for my game, which is why I aim to add in features that will
particularly aim towards my audience and maybe will hopefully draw more viewers than just
my target audience, this would be a benefit for me as my game would be getting more
views which results in more people talking about it and telling their friends/family to play. I
feel that my social status will be more aimed towards C2/D as the working class are more
likely to play video games most often as they would normally tend to have the most free
time. For my social status to be aimed at the group that it is aimed at my target audience
will more have to be the ‘experiencer’ group if they are aimed at the kind of people that play
video games a lot more making them the more experienced compared to others who might
not play video games as much as these kind/group of people would.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Throughout the year I have worked on doing severalpieces of production work from print to short
film, along the way I have learnt various different new skills of which I could put towards different
projects in the future. The reasonwhy I have chosen to create a video game is because out of all the
rotations I felt that I enjoyed the video game rotation and I felt that I learnt the most out of the video
game rotation then others, I feel that by choosing to create a video game for my FMP will benefit me
and hopefully get me a good grade/result.
Review your progress throughout the year- what skills and knowledge have you acquired?
How has the subjects you have studied this year informed your choice for this project?
What have you studied and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The initial project concept for my FMP is to create a video game along with some form of
assets to accompany it such as a box/case that the game would come in. The initial idea for
my video game, is to create a game that explores more than one genre. I plan to do this by
splitting my game into two genres, I will do this by playing the first part of my game as the
more relaxed/happier genre and the second half of my game will carry the majority of the
action/horror as it will be more based around the idea of a genre that carries more
action/horror into it, so on a whole the exiting part of the game is going to be more based
around the second part of my game. For the creation of my game I will need to take some
time to do some research video games so I know how I want my final production to come
out as, from researching and looking at already existing products I am hoping on being
able to get some inspiration. The main software of which I will be using will be based
around PowerPoint/word (Microsoft) and Photoshop, I will be using the Microsoft software
Proposal
2
to complete my documents of which I have to fill out, this will be an easy process as I have
done it countless time before. For the creation of my game I will be using Photoshop, this is
an editing software that I have used a lot and I doubt that I will find using it difficult during
the weeks of my production. From looking at existing products I will most likely be taking
ideas from them i.e. the setting/background of some games, I want my game to look as
what the genre is so if its horror I want to be using dark colours. The main idea of my game
being split into two genres in more the idea that in the first part of the game is a much more
relaxed area where it is based more around the ‘avoidance’ of the enemy characters,
whereas when you come to the second part of my game ‘horror’ based is more aimed
around striking and killing any enemy objects of which you will see along the way, the
player will be able to tell when he has reached the second part of my game as there will be
a gradual change in background when travelling down the lift i.e. background will slowly
get darker as you get closer to the horror level.
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
To carry out my evaluation I will evaluate my work myself, collecting my own thoughts,
feelings and opinions on my final production and give my opinion on what I could go back
and improve in the future. I will also get other people to look at my work and give there
evaluation about it, so I can get a wider opinion on my work. Finally I will compare my work
to already existing games, so I can get a look at how my work compares to already existing
products and how can I improve my work/ make it better so it compares better to already
existing products.
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation and your final
self-reflection, analysing your work and its outcomes.

I am able to time keep
and make sure I aren’t
falling behind.
5 Production  Make a start on my
production work, be
making work on the
background features
of my game and move
onto other areas once

I plan to do this by splitting my game into two genres, I will do this by playing the first part of my game as the more relaxed/happier genre and the second half of my game will carry the majority of the action/horror as it will be more based around the idea of a genre that carries more action/horror into it, so on a whole the exiting part of the game is going to be more based around the second part of my game. For the creation of my game I will need to take some time to do some research video games so I know how I want my final production to come out as, from researching and looking at already existing products I am hoping on being able to get some inspiration. The main software of which I will be using will be based around PowerPoint/word (Microsoft) and Photoshop, I will be using the Microsoft software
  • 2. Proposal 2 to complete my documents of which I have to fill out, this will be an easy process as I have done it countless time before. For the creation of my game I will be using Photoshop, this is an editing software that I have used a lot and I doubt that I will find using it difficult during the weeks of my production. From looking at existing products I will most likely be taking ideas from them i.e. the setting/background of some games, I want my game to look as what the genre is so if its horror I want to be using dark colours. The main idea of my game being split into two genres in more the idea that in the first part of the game is a much more relaxed area where it is based more around the ‘avoidance’ of the enemy characters, whereas when you come to the second part of my game ‘horror’ based is more aimed around striking and killing any enemy objects of which you will see along the way, the player will be able to tell when he has reached the second part of my game as there will be a gradual change in background when travelling down the lift i.e. background will slowly get darker as you get closer to the horror level. What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make? What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/ Evaluation (approx. 50 words) To carry out my evaluation I will evaluate my work myself, collecting my own thoughts, feelings and opinions on my final production and give my opinion on what I could go back and improve in the future. I will also get other people to look at my work and give there evaluation about it, so I can get a wider opinion on my work. Finally I will compare my work to already existing games, so I can get a look at how my work compares to already existing products and how can I improve my work/ make it better so it compares better to already existing products. How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation and your final self-reflection, analysing your work and its outcomes.
