How did the ‘Sony PlayStation 2’ take the world by storm?
The Sony PlayStation 2 took the world by storm because it was the first proper games console that was shown out to the world, as before
This was released people were more used to playing consoles such as Nintendo and DS, which as we know to be much smaller consoles.
So as a result of this it was a big surprise for people to see a console of a considerably larger side and not just this but more of the new
idea and the modern technology of which hadn’t yet been seen in a console quite excited the world.
How well did it sell to the world?
Well lets just say the console sold that well to the world when first released Sony made $250 million of consoles and gaming assets sold in
the first day of it being released to the public, this just shows how well the console sold to the public as they sold this many within the
first day, image how many was sold to the world after the first year.
How did Sony change the gaming world with this console?
I believe that Sony changed the gaming world because at the time it was released it was the first proper console released that
had some impressive gaming capabilities.
Do you think the production of this console influenced how consoles are today?
Yes I strongly believe that the production of this console influenced how things are today in the console industry as if it wasn’t for
this console being released with the specs of which it had then I believe that the consoles of which we had today wouldn’t have
seen the features of which they had today as quickly.

Why do you think Sony have decided to start work on a new console?

Why do you think Sony have decided to start working on a new console?
I think that Sony have decided to work on the release of a new console because the current console has been out for quite a few yeas, so they may be
thinking that it is time to up things up a bit and make it different, to keep people interested and still have that wide buying audience. I also think that
the rumour of a new console could more to be of the fact of ‘Microsoft Xbox’ latest edition in its console line up.
What does the production of a new console mean for the current ‘PS4’?
I don’t think that the production of this console will mean anything for the ‘PS4’, as previous consoles have had years after new console releases so I
don’t think that anything will change for the current console, well at not least several years.
What should we be expecting? Will it be better then the current console?
We should be expecting a new and fresh design that will instantly draw to people feeling that they need it. I also feel that we should be expecting a new
and faster console so that we have faster responding times, especially when running the games.
Will it be as much of a hit to the world as the previous generation consoles and current?
I hope that it will be as much of a hit for Sony when this console is produced and released to the world, but there is the chance that people might have
bought the latest ‘PS4’ console ‘PS4 PRO’ and so they might not feel the need to be buying a new console again. But there is still the people who will
have the more previous generation consoles and will be looking for an up-grade’

8. Sony PlayStation 1 ‘PS1’/(pages 3-4)
Draft;-The PlayStation 1 was the first PlayStation to be
released and the console that really set things going in
motion that has made todays game consoles be how they
are. The PlayStation 1 was first released in Japen,december
3rd,1994 and then was later released in the US September
9th, 1995. When first released there wasn’t much of a large
competition margin apart from Ds and Nintendo as
PlayStations main rival ‘Microsoft Xbox’ had not been
released at the time. So when the new console was released
it took the world by storm as it was seen as being such a
elegant appealing and well designed console for its time.
When realsed it came with a 2md ram and 1md of video
memory, which was classed to be a good amount of
memory/storage for its time, although it obviously
wouldn't’t be now. It was only purchasable in that all
famous classic grey, but that didn't’t seem to bother people
as over 100,000 units were sold at pre-launch which shows
that It was a successful console and sold very well to the
public. Some have said that If it wasn’t for the release of
this first proper console then there is a chance that we
wouldn't’t have seen the production of main rival ‘Microsoft
Xbox’ or the production of it would have been of held to
vereral years later. Also without the production of this iconic
console the rivalry between PlayStation and Xbox might not
have kicked of/happen till years later.

games consoles to be released and the console that really set
things going in motion that made todays consoles be how
they are today. Sony PlayStation 1 was first released in japan,
December 3rd 1994 and was later introduced to the US,
September 9th 1995. When first released there wasn’t much

liked the look of it as over 100,000 units were sold at pre-
launch and many more went on to be sold after. If it wasn’t
for the release of this first proper console then there is a
chance that Sony wouldn't’t have seen the production of its
main rival ‘Microsoft Xbox’ or it would have been seen but
not till several years later, it can be said that if it wasn’t for
the production of this iconic console the rivalry between
PlayStation and Xbox wouldn't’t have started until years later
then when it first did start.

9. Sony PlayStation 2 ‘PS2’/(page 5)
Draft:- the successor to ‘PlayStation 1’
. Second installment of the PlayStation console lineup
Released in march 2000 in Japan, October in North America and
November in Europe.
Sales of the console, games and assets pulled in $250 million in
the first day.
Announced in 1999, was the first PlayStation console to offer
backwards capability for its predessors DualShock controller, as
well as games.
Best selling video games console of all time selling over 155
million units.
More then 3,874 games have been released for the PS2 since
launch and more then 1.5 billion copies have been sold.
Sony later manufactured several smaller, lighter versions of the
console known as slimline models in 2004.
Even with the release of it successor the PS2 remained popular
well into the seventh generation and continued to be produced
until January 4th, 2013 when Sony finally announced that the
PlayStation 2 had been discontinued after 12 years of production-
one of the longest run for a video game consol.
Repair services ended for the system on September 7th,2018

Draft:- This is the PlayStation 2, the second installment
of the console lineup and the successor to ‘PS1’. This is
the console that really changed things and opened up
the gaming world to the public, it was the one that
brang all gaming consoles into a new generation and
prompted the production of the first ‘Microsoft Xbox’
and since then the rivalry between the two consoles
have go one to this day. The PS2 was the best selling
games console of all time selling over 155 million units
and having released more then 3,874 games since
launch with more then 1.5 billion copies being sold, you
can really start to get the picture of how popular it was
to the world. However Sony didn't’t stop with making
just one version of the PS2, after the production of the
original PS2 they went onto producing several smaller
and lighter versions of the console, better known as
slimline models. This is what made the PS2 to be such a
popular console with the world and is why even after
the release of its successor in 2006, it still stayed to be
one of the most popular consoles and stayed in
production until January 4th 2013, after a long 12 years
of production, which made it to be one of the longest-
run for a video games console, but that’s something you
would expect to come from Sony PlayStation as they
have and always will be a great games console. Even
after production had ended for the PS2 ,repair services
for the iconic console continued until September 7th
2018 which is an impressive 5 years since production
stopped, which jus proves how popular the iconic
console was.

10. Sony PlayStation 3 ‘PS3’/(pages 7-8)
Draft;- Successor to PlayStation 2
First released on on November 1,2006 in Japan
November 17, 2006 in north America and march 23rd,
2007 in Europe and Australia
Mainly competed against ‘Microsoft Xbox 360’ as
part of seventh generation of video games consoles.
Console was officially announced in EA, 2005 and was
released at the end of 2006
First console to use Blu-ray disk as its primary storage
system
The console was the first PlayStation to integrate
social gaming services, including to be the first to
introduce sonys social gaming service, PlayStation
Network
In September 2009 the slim version of the PlayStation
3 was released, it no longer provided the hardware
ability to run PS2 games
Lighter and thinner then the original and featured a
new logo.
Super Slim version was released in later 2012 further
refining and re-designing the console.
During its early years, the system had a critically
negative reception due to its high price and lack of
quality games, but it was praised for its Blu-ray
capabilities and untapped potential
It was discontinued in Europe march,2016
Draft:- The PlayStation 3 was the console that people loved and
wanted but was the console that was priced quite high when first
released at £400 people saw it to be an exaggerated price to pay for
a games console as the previous generation console to this cost
considerably when first released compared to what this did. With
the console first being released by EA in 2005 it was first seen to
Japan on November 1, 2006 and was later released the same
month in North America, November 17th, 2006 and a year later in
Europe and Australia. This was the first out of the PlayStation
console line-up to use Blu-Ray storage system, which meant that
you were also able to play Blu-Ray disks through it, which was seen
to be a very appealing feature for most as it was the first 2 in 1
console, not only this but it was also the first console to be
introduced with social gaming network, PlayStation network. This
is what made the PlayStation 3 bring the Sony PlayStation consoles
into the 21st centaury, not only this but it also drew in a much more
wider audience as this console bought out the capability to play
online and compete with people around the world, this was a big
step up for Sony and rivals such as ‘Xbox’ as they had much more
to be competing with. We saw multiple releases of the PlayStation
3 which were in versions, there were two slim versions released
but the slim version that appeared to be the most
changed/different was the slim model in September 2009, as it
was no longer compatable with PS2 games, this came as a
disappointment to some as people still liked to play those classic
PS2 games, so for those who bought the slim model in 20009 they
would have been disappointed. AS mentioned earlier on, in the
early years the system had a critically negative reception due to its
high price and lack od quality games, but it was well praised for its
Blu-ray capabilities and ‘untapped’ potential.

11. Sony PlayStation 4 ‘PS4’/(pages 9-10)
Draft:-
Announced as the successor of PlayStation 3 in
2013, February 20th.
It was launched on November 15 in North
America, November 29 in Europe, South
America and Australia; and February 22, 2014,
in Japan. It competes with Nintendo's Wii U and
Switch, and Microsoft's Xbox One.
The console features an AMD Accelerated
Processing Unit (APU) built upon the x86-64
architecture, which can theoretically peak at
1.84 teraflops; AMD stated that it was the
"most powerful" APU it had developed to date.
The console's controller was also redesigned
and improved over the PlayStation 3, with
improved buttons and analog sticks, and an
integrated touchpad among other changes. The
console also supports HDR10 High-dynamic-
range video and playback of 4K resolution
multimedia.

The PlayStation 4 was seen as the release of the eighth
generation console line up and was announced as the
successor of PlayStation 3 in Febuary 20th, 2013. This was
the console that really changed things for Sony as this
was the console that took their consoles into the first
generation of gaming. This was mainly introduced more
by the idea that they had produced the first generation
playable games and the capability to be able to play
games via a VR PlayStation head set so thy are able to
really get the presence as if they are playing inside the
game. This was a big sell out to those people who have
been fans of ‘Sony PlayStation’ for a long time, this lead
to high sales for them as there was a high demand for
people who wanted to try this out. For the people who
still had the previous generation consoles ‘PS3’ were the
majority main buying audience for who purchased the
console when first released as there was a high demand
for people who wanted to buy it, especially with the new
features of which the console carried especially with the
re-design of a new console which was a shock to some as
the remote had been the same for several years, making
it nice for there to be a change.
