3. Research
• I believe on a whole my research worked well and effectively helped me to
decide upon the form that I wanted to be base my podcast upon. Once I had
decided upon on the idea of which I wanted to, I went into some more in depth
research based around the idea that I wanted to base my podcast upon. One
extreme strength I believe I had in my research was that, the form I wanted my
podcast to be based upon, as there are many different podcasts that have
already been produced in this form, so I had many different examples that I could
look at, which is a very good thing as it helped to expand my research more.
However this led me to spend too much time on my research as I kept listening to
different podcasts as they seemed to interest me and as a result of this I started
to fall behind ever so slightly.
4. Planning
• Within my planning I believe that I could have worked better with it, as I believe I
could have managed my time much better , as it was coming towards the end of
it I had rushed finishing it because I was running out off time and as a result
when it came to the end I rushed finishing it so I could hand it in on time.
• I believe that on a whole my planning did go well, as from my research I had
already thought of some idea of which I could base my planning ideas around
and off so when I started my planning I had already thought of some ideas of
which I could do for my production which was good and so got straight into
looking at the various potential ideas I had thought of and how I could create
them into my actual production.
• I believe to improve it I could of managed my time much better, when it came to
my planning and experiments as towards the end I started to run out off time to
complete my planning and experiment.
5. Time Management
• On a whole yes I do believe that I managed my time well, based on the time
within I completed all of my work, as I have nearly successfully handed all it in
and to a good standard. However when it comes too my time management on
individual things during my production, I feel that I could have managed my time
much more effectively and better and upon doing so I would have completed my
work at a much faster rate, unlike now , still having work from this project to
hand in.
• If I had more time I would have been able to hand my work and been able to
stick to the deadlines off my work and I also believe that I would have been able
to do it to a higher level.
6. Technical Qualities
• When it comes to comparing my work against already existing podcasts I believe
that my work is more off a stand out compared to other already existing
podcasts. For example if I compared my work to the BBC podcast ‘Tracing your
roots’, my podcast would appear out the two, to be the more interesting one as
my podcast features the idea off including sound effects in it, along with the idea
off the sound effects being repeated throughout my podcast, which helps to keep
the audience interested in my podcast. This is one of the main reasons which
makes me be of the opinion that my podcast is better than the BBC podcast
‘Tracing your roots’ I believe this because the BBC podcast doesn't feature any
sound effects/sound tracks, which could draw the audience away from being
interested in viewing it and go onto listening to something else that seems to be
of more interest, so something like my podcast, as its not just based around
sound effects, although its not as long I believe it is still more interesting to view.
7. Aural Qualities
• Yes I believe that my work sounds good and I also am of the opinion that it was
creative, although that it isn’t really that long I am still off the strong opinion
that it was a creative idea because of the style of which my podcast is based
around being upon, which is of memories about my dead granddad, this is seen
as a podcast being based around family history. Although some people may not
see it to be interesting enough, but I believe that it is interesting as in my eyes I
took courage from me and in particular to make my podcast upon favourite
memories of my Granddad. However one down side of the production is the fact
that, with my brother having been the one who was included in the voice
recordings at some points he stuttered which made it hard to edit it, as I had to
take some time to be able to edit out the parts where he made a mistake, as
when he did, he started talking again straight away so he didn’t leave a pause,
which made it difficult for me to be able to edit it down so that there wasn’t any
major errors or mistakes in it.
8. Audience Appeal
My product appeals to the audience because of the style upon it is based of being in which I
chose to create my podcast in and that was the style of it being more of a factual kind. To
appeal the audience of this kind I, took into account the things that I would ask my brother
to talk about, so that it would involve a sense of humor but not enough so that the audience
wouldn't take it to a level of extent that they would be offended by it. I tried to give the
audience a slightly wider perspective by involving the idea off having a tune at the start and
at the end off the podcast, as in my opinion it helped to not only widen but drawn in the
audience more, as it doesn't’t just include speech in it and the audience wont become bored
and listen to something else instead of my podcast, I aimed it so the audience will stay
intrigued within my podcast which will make them want too listen to it.
Based upon the specific area of my audience which my podcast is aimed at, which is being
more of the middle aged area, there is a reason that I chose my younger to brother to talk
about family memories as more middle aged/older people tend to believe that younger
people(children) are much more cuter and are more likely to listen to what they say, then of
what a 17 year old is going to say, regarding stories/memories.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the idea of how you have chosen to talk about a sensitive subject,
which makes people want to take their time to actually listen too it, rather
than them listening too something else.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– I believe that you could off taken more time with recording the audio, as it
sounds like it has been rushed in some parts it sounds as If the voice
recordings have been done last minute.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I enjoyed the idea off you including your family members, in particular your
younger brother in your podcast, as it gives your podcast a sense of It being
more personal which makes your podcast more likely to be taken seriously if
it is about family history.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– I believe that you could off made your podcast longer so that you could get a
higher mark from it and would seem to be more interesting.
12. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?I agree from my peer feedback that I should off made my
audio production clearer in some areas so that it was easier to hear in some
places, where there is still someone muffled background noise.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I disagree from my feedback that I should of made my podcast longer, as it is
already 2 minutes and 45 seconds long, I am of the opinion that it does not
need to be made longer as I believe that it is already sufficiently long enough
for a podcast and as so if I had off made it longer it would have of seemed
more like a radio interview.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
Upon after receiving my peer feedback, there is one main peer feedback
that I would make to my audio production is the idea that I would of taken
more time to have edited it down so that it would have sounded much more
clearer and so that then I would off had more chance of getting a higher
score. This I believe is one particular change that I would like to go back to
at one point to improve and get a higher score but at this time I am going to
have to leave it for now, but I will definitely be going back and taking some
more time to edit it down ad really focus into it more making sure that
every single background noise has been removed and then hopefully a
higher score will be achived.
