2. Production reflections
• This proforma is to record how you worked on your production
• You should complete this each week during production
• Consider all relevant areas that you covered that week
• Think about what worked/what didn’t work/how you can improve
and actions for the following sessions/weeks
3. Process – week 1 • In the first week we worked on the initial
plans and really started looking into the
different plans that we wanted to take when
it came to making our own music videos,
when upon being told about our music
videos I was happy as we haven't done
anything like this before and there is a lot of
lenience when it comes to the production of
our own work. From the beginning I know
what song and what genre of music and
video styles that I am wanting to create
therefore I will be aiming towards this. I
think that doing my initial plans and
research will help me towards the best result
of my production as possible. We researched
different music videos to help and gain
different ideas to help us when for when it
comes towards the making of our own music
video. I also made a mind map which I found
helpful to get some more possible ideas of
what I wanted to create and what some
ideas could lead to. In the week I also found
the song that I was wanting to use for my
final production which was Sundress by
A.S.A.P Rocky and I have liked this song ever
since it was released and I believe that it will
be a good song to create a music video to as
it is very calm and collected.
4. Process – week 2 In week 2 this is where we really researched all the
different aspects of music videos and started to
really gain knowledge about what I really wanted to
create and put into my own music video. I started off
by looking into some music videos that are very
similar to what I am actually wanting to create and
the first video I looked at is Lust by Lil Skies and there
is a lot of editing that combines both a animated
world and the real world together and I think that
this aspect is really cool and really looks good in a
music video, however I wanted to start looking at
videos that I hadn't seen and had interesting parts
that I could use for my own work and in a video
called Yamborighini high which had a lot of different
story parts and different scenes that I think worked
well together and I think could work well towards my
style of song that I have chose as my song has
different sectors. I also started to research the
different conventions and genre characteristics for
my actual final music video.
5. Process – week 3
In week 3 I started to create my experiments
and this took a lot longer than I anticipated
however I feel that these turned out well. For
the first experiment I didn't really play
around with the different editing software
that is available however I did get a chance to
gain different knowledge about premier pro
as a whole because I knew how to cut and
stick different clips together however in this
experiment I really played around with the
different speeds and audio gains to make the
video more like a music video. In the second
experiment I really tried to have a go with
some of the editing bits for example I really
had a go with the video transitions and how
they can move from one slide to the other
however I definitely feel that you can tell that
I went abit overboard on the editing as I just
generally wanted to see what each of them
did and how they affected the videos for later
knowledge. We also reflected on them and I
think that this will help towards my final
music video as it gave me the opportunity to
see what I can achieve in my final music
video.
6. Process – week 4 In this week I started to film and edit my end
final music video and I feel that in the filming
process of my video I didn't really approach
the idea to how I imagined as I thought that
the filming would be a lot easier than it was
however I am initially happy with some of the
different angles and different ways I decided
to film bits. When it came to the editing I felt
as if I didn't really know what to really do as I
had already kind of used my ideas in my
experiments therefore I feel that my music
video does match well to the actual music
however I feel that the actual editing could
have been taken on better as I haven't done
anything really very existing or interesting just
the basic video transitions and editing skills
that I gained from my experiments. In my
music video I did try to add some lip sync
parts and I did add 1 however I found it very
hard as I feel like you really have to accentuate
the words that you are saying and I only really
noticed this when I was editing and it was too
late to go back a re film.
7. Process – week 5 In the final week I evaluated my
final product and all the steps I took
towards it, in week 5 I took on the
task of my evaluation as well as this
I made sure to go over everything to
make sure it was done and
complete and I think that this is a
good step of any project as it gives
you time to reflect on what you
have created as well as comparing it
to a actual music video and really
seeing what I could of done better
and what I will improve on for the
future. I found this hard as it meant
I had to look at my end work from a
different perspective and really see
if it is appealing and do I like it from
a viewers point of view.
