2. Adding a hyperlink to a Course Announcement can be completed in a few steps. First, navigate to the desired website
and then copy the URL, so that it is ready to be added to the Announcement. Then, open a new Course Announcement
and click on the Paper Clip icon in the HTML toolbar.
3. A new window will open where you will 1) select Source URL. Clicking on Source URL will open a box where you will 2)
paste in the website URL and then 3) click Submit within the Specify Source URL box. This will open a new popup window
allowing you to name the cite and determine how you want the webpage to open.
4. A popup window will ask you to provide ALT TEXT — this will allow you to enter additional information about the website, such as a
name, so that visually impaired students using a screen reader are able to understand what is being displayed. You should also select
Yes, for Open in a New Window. Then, select Submit. Your weblink is now “live” in your Announcement. Finish adding text to your
Announcement and setting release dates, and then select Submit.
5. When students view the Announcement, the link will be “live” and when they hover over it, they will see the title you
provided in Alt Text. Clicking the link will take them to the website you pasted into the announcement.
