This proposal is for a magazine called "Elite Sound" focused on rap music. The target audience would be mainly male teenagers and young adults aged 15-25 who listen to rap. The magazine would feature profiles of old school and new rappers with photos, quotes, and discussions of their music and lifestyles. It would also include a top 5 songs list and graphics comparing old school and new rap styles. Primary and secondary research like surveys and analyzing other music magazines would inform the design and content. The creator plans to learn and improve Photoshop and InDesign skills through tutorials to make the magazine look professional.

Audience:
My audience will be mainly male teenagers/ people aged around 15-25 as that is the age range of
people who listen to this genre of music most commonly. This could be because the vast majority
of rappers are males so men identify more than women would. The social status is not something
that is particularly important for this, however the social status of a typical rap fan is usually
lower/middle class.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Throughout the year I have developed my Photoshop skills from being completely non-existent to
having a fairly basic understanding in it with a lot of room for improvements, during the year for
example, in the Irn Bru project I have studied professional designs so now I have a better
understanding of what professional graphic designs look like. Also in this project, while doing
research I have looked at rap magazine designs and I can try use similar techniques and colours
that are popular amongst them.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept for my project is to be a magazine based around rap, with some new rap as well as
old school rap, It can have pictures of each rapper with iconic quotes of theirs. It will also focus on
their typical lifestyles. It hopefully will also show the differences between old school rap and new
rap. As well as a top 5 songs feature. The design for the front cover will have the words “Elite
Sound” in a large font at the top and centre of the magazine. I will also try use the technique “blobs
and stars” which is commonly used on magazine covers, these will include extra details about the
contents. For my DPS I will include big pictures of the rappers being mentioned and have a good
graphic of the split between new and old rap and try and also show their fashion styles and general
differences. The website design will stick to the colour scheme I pick and I will try to keep it fairly
simple so it is easy to navigate for people on it. I will to make it not too word based and stick to
themes of the brand. I will have to conduct a primary research such as surveys, in these surveys I
could find out what kind of colours/ themes would most interest people and also see if people
prefer long extracts of writing or prefer pictures with less detail. I will also conduct secondary
research such as looking at other similar magazines and I will try to understand the demographic
for them and base my project on that target audience and include features that would appeal to
them.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate my work in a few different ways such as peer work and blogger. My work will
continuously be assessed through “blogger” where I will weekly describe what I have done during
the week and describe my strengths and weaknesses as well as what elements I want to improve
and what skills I can take from that into my FMP. I will also get peer feedback on my actual project
to understand what strengths and weaknesses I have and to see how I could improve for when I
do print for my FMP
Production Techniques (approx... 150 words)
The specialist techniques I need to consider will largely focus on extra details in more advanced
Photoshop skills compared to what I have as right now they’re still of a fairly basic level. This will
require tutorials from YouTube. Also I know we will be using the software “InDesign” which I have
no knowledge of so I will have to learn how to do that from tutorials as well as advice ect… from
my tutor. This time I will have to go into extra detail on the images and make it look as professional
as I can.
