Whilst doing my research on several PowerPoints
including my music video lecture answers, my case
study, my music video planning PowerPoint etc, it gave
me information on different camera shots and how
different artists do different music videos, for
mainstream purposes , or if it has a narrative, if it is live
action etc. I mainly researched hip hop music videos
because that was the genre I was doing for my song
choice for my video. On the case study and lecture
answers I also researched different genres of music
including rock and older music videos too.

4. PLANNING
I planned my music video on a PowerPoint, after research I
decided I was going to do a music video for Gods Plan by
Drake. I did a few ideas but my final idea was to have a
narrative of a group of friends playing different sports and they
have flashbacks to when they started to show their progress
along the way because it matches the lyrics and the style of the
song. I noted several camera shots and editing techniques I
could use which went into the music video, such as a POV shot,
close up, medium shot, panoramas, etc. I then summarised all
my ideas and started planning my equipment, location (a
football field which is easily accessible). Also, I went on to
planning all the lyrics and how long each verse and part of the
song would be. Then I worked on the shot list and storyboard
which helped me whilst filming, because I knew how many
shots I needed and how long the shots needed to be.

5. TIME MANAGEMENT
Due to the pandemic restrictions, we had to do one week
in college and one week of online work. This means we
had to do learning at home as well as learning and
working in college. Due to self isolation, I had to do the
whole music video planning PowerPoint at home online,
so I had to spend a lot of time working at home to make
this music video, I had to make sure I finished the
planning before filming . Also, we had to delay the day
for filming due to self isolation, so we had one afternoon
to film the music video a few days before editing, so I
had to make sure we got all the right shots on that day.

6. TECHNICAL QUALITIES -
CAMERA
In my music video I used several different camera shots
for different reasons. For example, I used close up shots
to show the characters emotions, I used longshots when
someone used a tennis racket and hit the ball far to get it
all in shot. Also, I did POV shots to show my point of
view of me playing football to make the audience feel
like they’re in my position playing. I used several over
shoulder shots to show the audience where the ball is
going after they kicked it. Also, I used several medium
shots to make it clear what the characters are doing.

7. TECHNICAL QUALITIES –
EDITING/POST
I did several editing techniques, such as a black and white effect for
flashbacks. This is to make it clear that it is in the past and it is a
flashback and an adjustment layer to make the sky or the ground turn
a different brighter colour after a goal is scored to show their
excitement and joy after scoring. Also, several dissolve transitions
including dip to black and dip to white. This is used at the start and
end of every flashback to add in effect that it is set in the past and then
towards the end to build up suspense. I also added in different text
effects too, I add in the typewriter effect at the start of every flashback
with (6 months ago… or 3 months ago…) and also in the end credits,
this means it would show 1 letter every 2 frames to make it seem like it
is being typed on. At the start I added in the text effect where you can
see the scene through the text at the start (for a title).

8. AESTHETIC QUALITIES
I made sure I filmed my music video landscape so it could fit in
PremierPro. I filmed the video on my iPhone so it had good
quality because I focused in on every scene to make the quality
look better and clearer. I like how I used effects to make the
video seem brighter when they scored a goal, which makes it
look better.

9. AUDIENCE APPEAL
With my music video primary target audience being teenagers,
my music video was very suitable and fit well for that age
group. This is because the music video had a slightly
motivational message to carry on practicing if you want to be
good at something, as seen with the flashbacks of the music
video. It also didn’t have a complicated narrative to it, it was
fairly simple and easy to understand.

14. PEER FEEDBACK SUMMARY
What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
 I agree with my peer feedback. I used lots of different effects to make
the music video better and more enjoyable to watch on a lot of
scenes. Also, I agree that I could’ve used more locations. In the first
few scenes, it was filmed on my drive and after it was all at the park, I
could have done it at different parks and areas, especially in the
flashbacks to add more effect that it was set in the past.
What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?

15. PEER FEEDBACK SUMMARY
 I would use more locations to emphasise to flashbacks more, also I
would also change clothes for the flashback scenes too, to add in
more detail and effect that it was set 6 months and 3 months earlier.
I could’ve used 2 or 3 parks to change the scenary for the flashback
scenes.
