3. Flat Roofs
๏ Flat roofs are not totally flat, they have a fall to allow
the water to run of them.
๏ Flat roofs can have a bitumen felt or a proprietary
weathering finish.
๏ Commonly used on garages and house extensions.
6. Trussed Roofs
๏ Commonly used in house building.
๏ Commonly finished with slates, concrete or clay tiles.
๏ Engineered from timber in a factory to allow for the
loads from the tiles and adverse weather.
10. Hipped Roof
๏ A hipped roof can have one or more hipped ends.
๏ Hipped roofs can be made with preformed trusses or
using hand cut traditional methods.
๏ Hipped roofs are more expensive to build.
12. Eaves
๏ Eaves are at the top of the wall where the guttering
is.
๏ Usually it projects past the line of the wall to give
weathering protection to the top of the wall.
14. Ridge Detail
๏ A ridge is at the very top of the roof.
๏ It forms a weathering cover where the two roof
surfaces come together.
