1. Tell me in no more than20 words, what is your
FMP idea?
a shortaction film about a crime bosseshitman
andis the last loosethread is his criminal empire.
Why have youdecided to makeit? Because I want the experience of makingaction
film with tryingout special effects practical and
editing in special effects. I think thiswould-be
goodexperience to learn thesetechniques
because I think they are importanttoa film
maker.
What aboutyourproject makesit importantto
you?
Someof my favourite films are action films so I
would like to try andmake one ona small budget
andsee if a can make it work andif it doesn’t, I
will make sure to learn from my mistakesso that I
can make my future projects better.
Outline someof the initial influences onyour
idea/work and somepotential research targets
(remember, research isn’t justa paper-based
activity)
The main influence for my project is John Wick, I
think my productwill be like John Wick, so it
makesit a goodresearch target because it has
goodaction scenes, andit uses the sets
environmentto well. Another research target
would be Die Hard becauseit’s a goodaction film
andwould a be a goodfilm to learn from with all
the special effects.
What effect do youwant to haveon your
audience when they see yourproject?
I what the audience to feel excited and suspense
when watching my product because it’s action
film soit shouldbe suspensefuland exciting for it
to be a goodaction film.
Describe the tone/mood/styleofyourproject
[which productiontechniques/characteristicsare
youemploying?]
The tone andmoodof my productwill be serious
action film andthe style of my film will be quite
dramatic with dramatic shotsandcolour of the
will edit it to be muchdarker to showits dramatic
andmight also dosome one takeshotsso
immersive the audience intothe films tone and
mood. My film will havea similar style tothe style
they used for JohnWick.
Why have youdecided to makeyour project in
this style?
I havedecided thisstyle because I think it will fit
my film well and will make the film suspenseful
andexciting to the audience.
2. How will youexecute the actionscenes? I will try andmake the action scenes as realistic as
possibleso thatthe film is interesting to watch
andI will alsoexecute the action scenes safely so
thatnobody gets hurt, I will dothis by making
sure everyoneunderstandswhatwe are doing in
the scene and thatto remind the actors notto
actual hit the other actorsand instead telling
them justto tap each anotheror nothit each
other at all and just dothe action fast so thatthe
audience can’t tell they’re nothitting each other.
How will yourinfluences effect yourfilm? JohnWick will influence the action scenes andwill
be fast paced and a lot of close quarterscombat
which will be donewith a lot of close-upshots.
Die Hard will influence my action films story
because my main character will be upagainst the
odds like the main character from Die Hard, my
main character will also have to creative with how
he takes outhis enemies because he loses
weaponsat the start of the film which is a lot like
JohnWick andDie Hard.
What camera techniquesare yougoingto use? I my camera work will be inspiredby Roger
Deakinswhich menasthat I will try and haveshots
with a lot of contrast, andI will try andplay
aroundwith lighting when I am shootingmy
scenes, I mighttry a long takelike Roger Deakins
did for 1917 for an actionscene butthis would
take a lot of work and a lot of time teaching the
actors the movesandthe timing. My work will
also be inspired by QuentinTarantino which
meansI will try and buildtension with camera
work by starting with long drawn-outshotsandas
it gets closer to anaction scene the shotswill be
fast and will also edit to makeit gofast aswell.
