3. RESEARCH
Strengths
My strengths while researching was that I found it really easy to understand
different types of camera angles this helped my when I was filming to understand
what shots might work and what shots wont. For examples a shot moving
backwards can be hard to do as the camera might shake a lot this saved me time
when it came to filming as I already knew what shots I should try and some I
shouldn’t. This meant I could spend more time editing then filming as I already
knew the type of shots and angles I wanted.
Weaknesses
My weaknesses while researching was that I didn’t go more in depths on what
works in a music video and what doesn’t I think I should of looked at some music
videos that didn’t go so well and some that did and compare to see for myself
what would work for me and what wouldn’t. A result of this was that when It came
to putting my clips together I quickly realised that have more shots of different
backgrounds really does give the video a dynamic feel to it and makes the video
more entertaining to watch.
4. PLANNING
Strengths
My strengths while planning was the fact that I had to quickly improvise as my original
song did not turn out the way I wanted. I had to changed my song which meant I had to
changed my planning to fit the new song I had picked. However my original planning
already had some aspects that could work in my new song the only thing that was
drastically different was the location. As I didn’t just research on that type of music I
already had I idea of what could work to a medium pace beat. In my planning I made a
mind map of all the different features I had learn which helped me get some ideas to
start to make a plan in my head of how I wanted to music video to look.
Weaknesses
Some of my weaknesses was that I could of gone into more detail however I
picked a song that I didn’t not like which meant it was hard to think of ideas for it
however it made it easier when it came to editing as I didn’t already have a
opinion on the song and how the music video should look. A way I could of
improved the planning is I could of tried to get more of a solid structural plan
then a visual one. This was hard to do as I already had a plan for another song
that I tried to film a music video for but the song was to hard to film so I had to
changed the song and my planning that was different to what I had originally
planned. This had a effect on my product as somethings I had planned I now had
to change as I changed the song and the location entirely. This meant that I had
to quickly think about what would work and how to film it.
5. TIME MANAGEMENT
A way a manged my time well was that I filmed my first music video at
the start of the half term so I can see if I needed to go film additional
footage for when I start to edit. However I realised that the song I picked
was not going to work with the footage I had as the beat didn’t really
match up and the shots were hard to shoot so I decided to change to a
different song that was set in a wooded type environment. I think if I
could of done some more planning with this new song I could of got
more clips which would of made the video turn out more entertaining to
watch. If I had more time to film I think I would of tried to get some
different types of locations and I would of also got more footage as then
I can try different types of shots for the same verse. This would also give
me more time to edit so I could see what type of transitions work well
with the song and what different colours would work in each shot.
6. TECHNICAL QUALITIES -
CAMERA
A difference between these to videos is that the first image has the camera lower to the ground
while the second image has there camera higher up to get the just the trees in the shot. A reason
they might of done this depends on the rest of there clips in there video if they are quite high up
it keeps the same theme all the way through the song. A similarity between these to videos Is that
they are both a long shot of a wooded type environment.
7. TECHNICAL QUALITIES –
EDITING/POST
A similarity between these to videos is there both running though a woods to the beat of the
song.
A difference between these videos is one is brighter and has increased saturation and the
second one is quite dark and left there colours more natural to what the camera actually shot.
Another difference is that the first video is a medium going into a long then cutting back into
a medium the second video is just a medium shot then switches to another person running
though some wooded type environment.
8. AESTHETIC QUALITIES
Some aspects that I like the look of is the colour grading I think it really brings out the
colours in the video as if I left the colours alone It would have been really dark and not
really nice to watch. Would I could of done to improve the colours even more is to go and
see if the video would have looked better in a darker style or if it looked better in a more
lighter colour. Something less successful was at the start it does really look like a good
music video to me I think if I had some more footage I could of made that better. Some of
the B roll was well colour corrected you can clearly see how throughout the music video it
slowly started to get darker and darker until the sunset.
9. AUDIENCE APPEAL
My music video
appeals to
teenagers and
people that love
nature
The actor wore
simple clothing
this appeals to
teenagers as this
is the kind of
clothing that
they would wear
The video
matches the
song this
makes it
more
appealing to
people that
enjoy
listening to
pop music

What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
I think I did all the effects it needed as I wanted to make
the music video simple and not over edit it.
