2. This proforma is to record how you worked on your production
You should complete this each week during production
Consider all relevant areas that you covered that week
Think about what worked/what didn’t work/how you can improve
and actions for the following sessions/weeks
3. The first week of the short film task we began by looking at existing short films,
and going through all the basic skills and techniques we may need to use in our
film such as the shots and how they can create different effects within the film.
We then were asked to start making sound experiments for the short films to give
us an idea on how to use premiere as well as the equipment we will be given. The
first task was we were given a clip from Shaun of the dead with no sound in it and
watch it through listing of the sounds that may or should have been there in the
clip, we were then given recorders to go out and find ways to make the sounds
that were missing. We also were asked to make a short film in groups to get used
to the equipment and editing on premiere.
This week we started our initial plans for our final product we started this by
watching more examples of other short films that have been made in a way to
give us inspiration and ideas for our own, then we had to pick which of the three
ideas we wanted and thought would work the best then make another mind map
specific to the film we were making, this gave us a clearer view of what we can
include.
We then had to make several mood boards, this is a collective of images that all
fit together to give us a more visual idea of what we would like to have done in the
end.
4. IN this week we have been taking part in our research for our final film.
The first type of research we took part in was our audience research,
we started this with our primary research where I made a
questionnaire to find out more about what my target audience might
be and what they are looking for in a short film, I started by asking
genreal questions such as age and faviroute film genre I then began
asking more specific questions to do with my film.
We then began secondary research looking at articles and info
graphics of facts and figures surrounding short films ore maybe even
more specific to my own genre. We then looked more into our
competition and existing products to gather ideas and techniques we
could include within our own film.
We ended the week with our proposal.
5. This week we have been taking part in our pre-production we started this with our
story development where we cut the film into four scenes and then typed up what
will happen in each of these scenes. We then did a structural breakdown so we
can estimate exactly how long each scene will be, and putting them into more
detail of what's in shot and the effects.
We were then asked to make a story board to make the scenes of the film more
visual, we then made the shot list for our film this is so when it comes to filming I
already know exactly what type of angles and shots I need to do in each scene.
The next step in pre-production was making the cast and location information so I
have a clear plan of whose in what scene and where I will need to be.
then there was the risk assessment and the contingency planning, which meant I
have made sure I am aware of what could go wrong and how I can stop this or
make sure it doesn't’t effect the final product in anyway.
The final step of this process was getting all the sounds and atmosphere I may
need and how or where I will be getting this from, this will make it much easier
when it comes to the editing process of our film, as I will already know what
sounds I need and will already have some ready to put straight in.
6. This week I have been finishing my pre-production improving my
storyboard and finishing the sound slides. However this week I would
have liked to have started my filming for my short film, as it may cause
problems with the time I have to edit and finish the evaluation.
However I have planned my filming for the weekend.
7. This week I have been doing my filming over the weekend filming at one
of the locations getting scene 3 and 4 done, i then filmed on Wednesday
at my second location.
However I have started my filming first cutting down the clips and placing
them in order, I filmed during the day and using the adjustment video I
have added a colour saturation effect to make the whole thing darker,
then using the RGB curve tool I have made reduced the white light in the
shot and increased the blue this Is because blue is used in film to show
moonlight and reducing the white makes it seem darker to look as if its
night. Then using the transparent video tool I added the circle effect to
make the corners of the shot darker also hiding the sky somewhat.
I then added a music over the running scene to reduce the noise of wind
as well as making the scene more appealing and to make the running
scene seem far more like a chase scene.
