2. Have discussions about racism, which can happen in school.
3. Consider what you can do to stop discrimination.

2. We’re going to read page 19 and answer to the first
two questions on page 20.
Then we’re going to examine a picture in your
reflective journal and answer three questions
there.
Your homework will then be to design a t-shirt
(Green card available).
Plan for today
3. Page 19 – 7 readers – examines racism and tells a story
giving an example. There is a note after the 4th reader:
(Note) Racism: false belief that one ethnic group is better
than another. It is based on fear, not facts.
We’ll read John’s Story at the bottom of page 19 now, then
write FULL SENTENCE ANSWERS from page 20, Q.1 and Q.2
1. How is the man’s human dignity affected in the story?

2. Why, do you think, does no one defend him on the bus?

4. Start activity 3 now – page 13.
1. Examine the picture and focus on why one man is smiling
and the other six people are frowning.
2. IMPORTANT RULE: good manners to say ‘a person with’ or
‘a person who’. Bad manners to act like one thing defines a
person.
3. Why might someone be prejudice against or stereotype
them?
Activity 4 asks you to design a t-shirt to raise awareness.
Must have a slogan and promote ANTI-racism. (Green card)
