Your homework was on pages 26-27 of the reflective journal. Would
anyone care to raise their hands and share an answer to one of the
following questions:
1. Tell me about a human rights champion.
2. Name a human rights organization and describe their logo.

2. 1. Open your green books on page 64-65. You will see the
Human Declaration of Human Rights on page 65 which we
shall be examining in this class.
2. We shall read why they were written down – WW2.
3. We shall then examine the information on the page and
present the important bits.

3. 1. Read page 63 and 64 – 10 volunteers needed. Rasie hands after
each paragraph / point.
 (Note) Human Rights Instruments: documents that seek to
promote or protect human rights.
 (Note) Region – one place. International – many nations.
 (Note) Declaration: a formal statement. ‘I declare’.
 (Note) Convention: a legal agreement. The law.
 (Note) After WW2, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
was made, then the European Convention on Human Rights.
 When finished the notes, read through the Human Declaration of
Human Rights (pg 65). There are 30 rights there (5 at top)

4.  In teams of 3, you must choose a ‘top 3’ for the most
important human rights and write them down.

1. One must come from the left column. (1 person)
2. One must come from the middle column. (1 person)
3. One must come from the right column. (1 person)
 Share with class when finished. All three members of a
team should note the three rights they have chosen.
