Warm-up – Pens, Paper, Journal, Books, homework
The lesson today will be that being selfish is not smart. What is best
for you is often what is best for everyone. As a warm-up therefore,
can you write an answer the following question:
Explain the word ‘Selfish’ with two examples.
 Open green books on pages 84-85.
 I’ll read the bottom on 84, then we’ll read 85.
 You'll fill in spaces to create your own version
of the poem.
 We’ll then examine page 86, you’ll write
examples for each of the seven
responsibilities, then start a picture (FFH)
Human Rights 8 – Plan for today Date
 I’ll take 84. We need three volunteers for the top of 85.
Afterwards, five volunteers (3 lines each) for poem.
 You can work with those either side of you. Create a poem in
the same structure as ‘First they came’ by following the
instructions below. Each student must have a different poem.
1. Rather than people, ‘They’ shall take FOUR ITEMS you
really like or enjoy (your phones for example).
2. First they came for our ______________
And I did not speak out

Reading and Writing (15 min)
Do this
4 times before,
Then they come
for you.
 Read page 86 – there are seven examples of how to act
responsibly. Your task is to write each one down and write
an example beside it.
1. Respecting the rights of others: Not making fun of
someone for their beliefs.
2. Helping and caring for the most vulnerable in society:.......
3. Treating others as we would like to be treated:......
4. All 7 use the pictures to help you see examples.
Making decisions – individual task
 Finish task on page 86
 (Optional Extra – Green card opportunity)
 A copy of ONE of the poem today with some
artwork/pictures around it.
 A clear page, a nice boarder, etc - green
cards will go out to 2 people.
