Working Title:
Bounce
Audience:
My audience is teenagers aged between 16-19 years old. There is no specific gender that my
game will be aimed at but I will try to make it more appealing to males as more males play video
games. My product will appeal to 16-19-year-old teenagers because I will use bright/vibrant
colours. Bright and vibrant colours appeal to a younger audience so it only makes sense to use
bright colours as this will keep younger audiences interested. Stereotypically, men like violence in
video games so I could find a way to involve some violence within the game.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
In the first project I did I made an Irn-Bru advergame using the same technique that I will use to
make this product. When making this advergame, I learned certain skills such as how to make the
background of a game scroll. This will be very useful for making my current product. I also learned
more simple things like how to set up a Photoshop document for making pixel art. My advergame
for Irn-Bru was a flick shoot mobile game. This won’t have much impact on my current product
because they are two different concepts and different styles of games.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept of my product is a side scrolling platform game. The idea is that the player must
achieve a high score by jumping on the platforms whilst avoiding obstacles. The player can
change the difficulty. Changing the difficulty means that the game will scroll faster/scroll slower
depending on what difficulty is chosen. I have conducted some primary research where I asked
three questions about what my audience would like to see in a game similar to mine. This will help
me because as there is only three questions, people will be more detailed. This means that I could
influence my product easier through my research as I have a lot of options to consider. I have also
conducted some secondary research by looking at existing products similar to mine. By doing
secondary research like this, I can look in detail at what makes a good game or what is mandatory
within a game.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate my work by writing a weekly blog. This helps me to make a list of
mistakes/improvements which means I can tackle them individually in the next week or production.
