Abigail Long evaluated their FMP project. Strengths included researching games they enjoyed and using similar elements in their own game. Weaknesses were not researching as in-depth as possible or fully explaining concepts. Planning was better than last time but could have been more detailed. Time management was good as they finished ahead of schedule but some parts felt rushed. Peer feedback praised the colors, mechanics, and simplicity but suggested improving enemy designs and adding dimension with new levels. In response, Abigail agreed on improving enemies and levels with more time, but disagreed that boosters were needed to overcomplicate the simplistic game.
3. Research
Strengths
Researched video games which was fun, especially since I liked and played
one of them.
Because of the styles of the games I managed to make a game using similar
elements to create my own experience
Weaknesses
Could’ve done more in depth research
I could’ve explained the meaning of things more
4. Planning
Strengths
I did a lot better at planning then I did last time
Gave me more time to work on important things.
Weaknesses
I still could’ve done more planning to give me a completely fleshed out idea
I relied too much on intuition rather then making a complete schedule and
sticking to it.
5. Time Management
Strengths
Due to either my planning or my own speed, I managed to finish everything
ahead of time, giving me time to improve on things.
I was much better with timings, knowing that I had to do things by certain
times.
Weaknesses
Some of the project may feel slightly rushed as I finished it quickly before
moving on the next thing
Even though I had time to, I didn’t really go back and check things over so
they were at the highest standards.
6. Technical Qualities
Similarities: Similar level
designs (both climbing up a
tower)
Differences: Colors (my game
is much lighter)
Character Designs.
Similarities: Design
(Both are ships
Style (both are
pixelated
Differences colors
(Mine are much lighter
and of more range)
7. Aesthetic Qualities
I like the way my
work looks, the
soft colors makes
it easy to look at
and aesthetically
pleasing.
While the level design
wasn’t creative, I think
the mechanics were
creative, as most games
similar don’t have the
same mechanics.
I like the light colors, the soft look to it
and the character designs.
I would improve the
level design, making it
taller and more
complicated, I would
also change the shape
of the ship to make it
look a bit more
realistic
The strengths are
the colors and the
mechanics, while
the weaknesses
would probably be
the layout.
8. Audience Appeal
The bright colors will attract them.
The simple, but interesting mechanics
will keep them interested.
The character design will help immerse
them in the game
The music will relax them
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the game and the sound effects that you
used on your game.
– I also like the colours that you used on your app
logo.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– The colour of the font in the app logo is quite
clear.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
• I like the colours and graphics – calm and relaxing. I like the
straightforward nature of the game – climbing the ladders
and boosting power with munching apples. It is easy to see
what to do, where to go and what the aim of the game is.
The sound effects also work well and are well timed.
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
• Perhaps introducing other ‘power boosters’ for example
gold coins. Going through the doors to another screen
would have created more interest and dimension but I
realise this was just a sample page.
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the overall aesthetic of the product and how it
had this fluffy vibe to it.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– If I could improve anything, I would change the
enemies. I don’t feel like they suit the visuals of the
game.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback? I
agree that the colours make it look soft and neat, and
how it’s aesthetically pleasing, I also agree that given
more time I could improve certain aspects, such as
enemy designs and different level designs.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? I
don’t agree that the game needs boosters, in fact, it’s
my interpretation that thee aren't any at all, it’s
supposed to be simplistic so adding more items in
would make it more complicated and might make
people less interested.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
I would add more complex level designs without
making the game more difficult, just of a better
quality. I would also change the enemy designs into
something softer so that it suits more comfortable
with the game style. I think I would also change the
app logo slightly, giving the title a better font style and
possibly color.
