Subway surfers is a 3 lane ios
game. The controls are left right to
change lanes and up and down to
slide under and jump over
obstacles. It has a currency used to
upgrade the power ups and go
further in the game. You can also
buy new characters and costumes
for them.

Point counter Temple run is similar to my concept
because of the obstacles in the way
however temple run is only a one lane
system and involves turning left and
right around the course. This could
also be a possibility for my game as it
would make sense for the teachers to
be chasing the student in school and
the police in the town. I also like the
idea of a power bar and having a
special ability.

The music is constant

with power up and

Floor is lava is an interesting
game to compare to as this game
relies more on the timing of the
jumps than the other two games
making it simpler but more of a
challenge. It has a lot less too it
than the other two games. The
audio in floor is lava is an
annoying backing song, burning
sound effects and a power up
noise.
5. Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have?
The game are all endless runners and involve
obstacles, power ups and currency.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
The same system that is listed above, obstacles,
power ups and currency to improve them
6. What's similar
• My game shares in common the 3 lane style
and chase aspect of these games. Also the
style the audio is in with the theme song and
then effects will be the same. My character
will be getting chased while trying to
overcome obstacles
8. Interview 1
• What obstacles would you expect in a school break runner game
and why?
I would expect obstacles such as wet floor signs, teachers and also
food on the floor. This is because in a school you would see these a lot
in a school.
• What should currency be spent on in the game and why?
Currency should be spent on different power ups that will help you
escape
• What should the end goal be?
The end goal should be to get the the exit and try to skip school. it
would be fun.
9. Interview 1
• Observation: the game should go for stereo
typical school type obstacles and fit the power
ups in with the school theme.
• What this says about my audience: The
audience want a game with fitting objects and
power ups and also want an end goal.
• How will your product appeal to this
audience:
It will appeal as the idea of the game runs
similar to the answer I have received.
10. Interview 2
• What obstacles would you expect in a school break runner
game and why? Teacher and school bullies. Because those
are the 2 things you would expect to do something to you
in a game based around school.
• What should currency be spent on in the game and why?
Maybe upgrade to make your character faster and have
better run ups. Because that what I have seen in the past
in endless running games
• What should the end goal be? I don’t know really I would
prefer if it was like subway surfer where you just don’t have
and end to it.
11. Interview 2
• Observation: shouldn’t be an end goal it
should be endless
• What this says about my audience: the
audience want a more competitive leader
board style game
• How will your product appeal to this
audience: I will make it so it is endless and
caters more to what the audience wants
