3. RESEARCH
For my research, I looked into different kinds of film magazines
to see the layouts they used as well as colour and fonts. The
magazines I researched were all quite similar, as they were all
from the same company, but used different colours and
imagery. From my research, I got an idea of how I wanted to
make my magazine cover. These types of research were helpful
because they gave me an idea as to what would work best for
my product as well as what my audience would like for my
product to be. An advantage of my research was that it was
easy to find magazines covers that were similar to what I
wanted to create. So I could easily take inspiration from one or
more magazine covers. By researching these different kinds of
magazines, I was able to see what an actual film magazine
cover looks like and this meant that I would be able to make a
magazine cover that looks both professional and good.
4. PLANNING
For my planning, I researched into different magazines that
were linked with the theme of film. By researching these
different magazines, I was able to decide how I wanted it to look
e.g. colour wise, fonts and even layout. I could improve my
planning I would have gone into more detail about the types of
magazines I was researching and why I chose them specifically. I
would also go into more detail about how my audience would
react if they were to read my magazine like this or one similar.
This would have made making my magazine easier because I
would have had a better understanding as to what my audience
would like in a film magazine.
5. TIME MANAGEMENT
I think that I managed my time well. I think that if I had
additional time to edit my magazine I’d be able to
improve it greatly. Overall I think that most of my time
was spent making my final product. I spent less time of
the contents of the rather and spent more time on the
cover, which is something I could have improved on. If I
had additional time to improve my work in any way, I
would have spread out the time between the cover of my
magazine as well as the double page spread that has all
the information.
6. TECHNICAL QUALITIES
I think that my final
product and the already
existing product are
quite similar. This is
because I took inspiration
from that product and put
it into my own product. I
also changed the colours
and characters used in the
game I took inspiration
from. From both
screenshots you are
clearly able to see that
they are both clearly
themed around film.
A difference between
my magazine and the
existing product is the
different colours used.
The colours I used in
my game are brighter
whilst the already
existing product uses
darker colours.
Another difference is
that the already
existing poster has a
sort of border around
it whilst mine doesn’t.
7. AESTHETIC QUALITIES
I think that my final product turned
out well and met with my
expectations. I like the colours I used
for my magazine. If I could improve
my work, I would have added
additional text to my magazine to
make it look more appealing and less
simple. A good thing about my
magazine is that you are able to tell
that it is a film magazine based on the
colours and images, as well as the
colours and text I used. If I were to
improve my work I would add
additional text to make it look less
simplistic and more appealing.
8. AUDIENCE APPEAL
I think that my product appeals well to my
audience. My intended audience is for
adults and I think that the way I have
presented my product e.g. the colours and
fonts do appeal to my audience. I didn’t
create a questionnaire but if I had more
time I would have. If I were to make a
questionnaire I would ask questions that
are related to my product and the theme I
have chosen, which is film. This would
have helped me find out what my audience
would have liked to see in my magazine.
And by doing this I would have been able
to improve my product and make it better.
10. FEEDBACK 1
What did you like about the product?
I like the layout of your product because it looks very similar to an
already existing product. I also like the choice of colours you’ve
chose as well as the font.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
You could have added more text to the cover, so that your audience
would be able to clearly tell what your product is.
11. FEEDBACK 2
What did you like about the product?
I like the choice of colours you’ve chosen to use. I also like the font
because it stands out the most, so your audience is able to see what
you product is.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
I think you could have added more text to your cover. You could’ve
just added a slogan or some sort of quotation from a film.
12. FEEDBACK 3
What did you like about the product?
I like the overall layout of your cover. I also like the colours you’ve
used.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
I think you could have added more text to your cover.
13. PEER FEEDBACK SUMMARY
What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
I agree with the feedback I was given. I agree that I could have added
additional text to my cover to make it look as realistic to a magazine
colour as I could. I also agree that the choice of colouring I used was
good. This is because you’re able to see all of the text I’ve included
and that there is nothing you’re unable to see. I also liked the overall
layout of my cover, as did the people who did my feedback.
What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
I don’t disagree with any of the feedback I have been given. I think
that my cover would have looked better if I had included additional
text rather than just having a title and a photo.
14. PEER FEEDBACK SUMMARY
If I were to make any changes to my final product, I would
make sure to add additional text to my cover so it looks as
realistic to a magazine cover as possible. There isn’t much
else that I would do to make my final product look better, I
think that the only problem was how simple it looked
because there was hardly any text on it. I would make these
changes because it would improve the overall look of my
product and make it look similar to an actual magazine
cover.
