MODI’S EYE ON
DISCIPLINE
n 1996, Municipal
Elections were
round the corner in
Punjab, Haryana,
Chandigarh and
Himachal Pradesh and Narendra
bhai was appointed in-charge for
these states. Modiji addressed all
the karyakartas in a meeting and
said “All the workers will func-
tion in their respective wards
only. No karyakarta will go into
any other ward.” And then, he
took time out to hold meetings
with every single ward individu-
ally in order to address specific
issues of each of the wards. Nar-
endra Modi visited my ward once
to meet all the workers. His in-
structions were already very clear
that no karyakarta from any other
ward should be present in the
meeting. Well, I have such vivid
memories of the day! One kar-
yakarta named Satinder Singh
from some other ward happened
to be present in the meeting of my
ward that day.
As soon as Modiji stepped into
the meeting room, he immedi-
ately pointed out that Satinder
Singh did not belong to my ward
and asked me “How is Satinder
present in this meeting?” I was
speechless. I was simply aston-
ished to see that Modiji recog-
nises people individually and
there was just one karyakarta
from another ward and Narendra
bhai was able to identify him.
Only he can have such a sharp
outlook towards life. Narendra
bhai is extremely attentive to-
wards his workers and his man-
agement skills, levels of efficien-
cy are beyond the ordinary. This
meticulous planning and execu-
tion resulted in us winning 15 out
of 20 seats in the municipal elec-
tions of Chandigarh.

MODI HAS SHOWN
PAKISTAN ITS PLACE
hen I was joining the
BJP, I met him late
night in his office.
Even though it was
10 o’clock, still the
office was buzzing with activity.
It was difficult for anyone to dis-
tinguish whether it was daytime
or late in the night around 10 pm
since the office so alive. He is a
workaholic and believes in spend-
ing most of his time thinking
about the nation, thinking about
the problems, trying to find a solu-
tion to those problems. I think
India needed a strong leader like
Narendra Modiji. He believed that
Pakistan had to be shown its place
and the surgical strike was a mas-
terstroke of Narendra Modi.

‘MODI HAI TO MUMKIN HAI…’ UNTOLD STORIES OF PM MODI — PART 51

Our readers will get a look into some inspiring aspects of PM Modi’s persona
and his thought process through these stories. His sharp insights, his vision
and his innovative ideas coming from the ground realities of the nation he is
leading, make him the most successful and loved PM India has ever had!
PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI
MODI’S DESI IDEA
TO SAVE TREES
M Modi said that it
was very essential
to curb deforesta-
tion and conduct
plantation drives. I
felt there was a great need to cre-
ate awareness among the citizens.
A tree plantation drive must be
held on a massive scale to in-
crease public involvement in this
cause. We took out the “Seva
Yatra” and I used to go out along
with the people in the yatra. Peo-
ple used to walk barefoot and I
too would do that intermittently.
We also got support from many
social and political organizations.
When the yatra had reached its
point of culmination, PM Modi
himself visited the event and ap-
preciated the initiative. He was
very pleased with the way the
drive was conducted. He also said
that this will help in maintaining
a continuous flow of water in
Narmadaji. When I told PM Modi
that we planted these many trees,
his first statement was “It is very
good to plant trees but it is equal-
ly important to save trees.”
He also said that several trees
tend to dry up during the summer
season due to lack of water. For
this he suggested that we must fill
up an earthern pot and dig it next
to the roots of tree. This will en-
sure that water reaches the roots
of a plant, drop by drop. Also,
there is no wastage of water if we
use this method of providing wa-
ter to the plant. What can we call
this other than PM Modi’s deep
love for the environment and his
interest in preservation of nature?
He suggested us methods that
would not only save the trees
from drying up, but would also
conserve water.

MODI’S TRIBUTE TO KARGIL MARTYR
fter the Kargil war,
Lok Sabha elec-
tions were to be
held and Modiji
suggested that we
select someone from one of the
martyrs’ families as a Lok Sab-
ha candidate of BJP from Hary-
ana. After a deep search spread
over five to six days, we sug-
gested a name to him and that
was of Sudha Yadav. And the
kind of thumping response we
received after she received the
ticket, is something that we can
never forget and it was indeed
worth the applause. Modiji de-
cided to convene a meeting to
arrange resources for Sudha Ya-
dav. Modiji started with saying
“When I go home, my mother
puts some money in my pocket
out of sheer love that she has for
me! So whenever I feel some-
one is doing something good, I
contribute money to that cause.”
And then he put his hand in his
pocket, and took out all the
money there was in it, and put it
in the kalash. What happened
next was unbelievable! A queue
started building up and moti-
vated by the gesture shown by
Modiji, people started dropping
money into the kalash. 7 lakh
rupees were collected in cash in
just that one meeting and we
won the election.

Modi govt has continu-
ously worked to make
Kashmir completely free
from terrorism. Today,
nobody has the courage
the throw stones in Kash-
mir under the Modi gov-
ernment,” said Union
Home Minister Amit
Shah while listing the
changes brought about in
JK since the abroga-
tion of Article 370.
In his Lok Sabha
speech on Wednesday,
Shah said that removing
the special status from
JK and making it a Un-
ion Territory has boosted
tourism, offered protec-
tion to Hindu temples and
significantly reduced the
instances of stone pelting,
which was a common oc-
currence before 2019.
Besides asserting that
the Narendra Modi-led
government has continu-
ously worked to make
Kashmir “completely
free from terrorism”,
Union home minister
Amit Shah, during the
no-confidence motion
debate in Lok Sabha,
said the Valley no more
reports incidents of
stone pelting. He also
said that today, no fu-
neral procession is held
when a terrorist dies.

“MY FRIENDS IN BJP NEED NOT BE SCARED, MY
SPEECH IS NOT ON ADANI”: RAGA IN LOK SABHA
New Delhi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge
on Wednesday said Rahul Gandhi put across the
voice of the people in Lok Sabha on the Manipur
issue and asked whether the Modi government feels the
suffering of the people or its politics is only aimed at getting
votes. He alleged that the people of Manipur are suffering
due to the “insensitivity” of the BJP. “Pandit Nehru had said
- ‘Bharat Mata’ are the people of India only. Our brothers
and sisters are facing violence in Manipur, they are suffering
due to the insensitivity of the BJP. “Does the Modi govern-
ment have nothing to do with the suffering of the people? Is
all their politics just aimed at getting votes,” he asked.
New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on
Wednesday took a veiled dig at PM Narendra Modi.
Gandhi referred to Congress accusations against the
government in relation to Adani-Hindenburg row. “Speaker
Sir, When I spoke the last time, I focussed on Adani - maybe
your senior leader was pained...That pain might have had an
impact on you as well. I apologise to you for that. But I spoke
the truth. Today, my friends in BJP need not be scared
because my speech today is not on Adani...” Gandhi said.

D
evAnand and
Hema Malini
first acted to-
gether in the
super block-
buster Johny
Mera Naam, the movie re-
mains one of my all-time
favourites and we have al-
ready done a full feature
on it inThrowbackThurs-
day earlier. Of all the
Dev-Hema films like
Amir Garib, Joshila,
Tere Mere Sapne,
Chhupa Rustam, Sha-
reef Budmaash, Cen-
sor, Jaaneman and
Aman Ke Farishtey,
Johny Mera Naam is
by far the best. I
think there is some
film Sachhe ka
Bol Bala too.
Tere Mere
Sapne was a
movie before
its time and the questions it
throws up are very much rel-
evant today for the medical
profession and society. The
quandary of doctors who fight
for survival with their ideals
intact versus the funeral pyre
of principles to earn money is
beautifully portrayed by Dev
Anand and other doctors in the
movie. The path of the film
where moral decline impacts
the personal life negatively
leading to all-round despair
makes one think even to-
day as we see the situa-
tion all around us.
Doctors wear the
mask of a Life-Giver
and in real and reel
life we expect them
to deliver, disre-
garding the emo-
tional needs of the
doctor, who is, after
all, a human. Tere
Mere Sapne, with
Mumtaz as the
wife of the ideal-
istic Dr Dev
Anand and
Hema Malini
as the ailing
Superstar
of the ‘un-
principled
but cater-
ing to the
rich’Dr Dev, has some beauti-
ful songs, namely Jaise Radha
ne mala japi, Haan Maine
kasam li…
Chhupa Rustam has all the
features of a patriotic potboiler
and is a bit confusing as we
have a treasure hunt for aTem-
ple of Gold, abductions galore;
in fact multiple abductions of
the Hema Malini and a mys-
tery to boot. Shot in Himachal,
the movie was scenically a
treat and so was Hema Malini-
absolutely gorgeous. We have
Vijay Anand too in a cameo
role and of course, the com-
plete battery ofAjit, Premnath
and Prem Chopra, so the vil-
lainy is a scream. Dheere se
jana khatiyan mein by Kishore
Kumar is funny even today,
Hum Chhupe Rustom hain is
delightfully apt as it leads to
Hema’s abduction.
Jaaneman has Hema Malini
in a double role whereas, un-
like Seeta aur Geeta, she plays
a negative/positive role. Dev
Anand plays a taxi driver and
he wore the uniform the entire
film, except the climax and
believe me, Dev Anand did
bring his own style to the drab
taxi driver uniform. It features
a song Allahabad mein paida
huyi main which tickled me to
no end as I too was born in the
holy city of Allahabad now
Prayagraj (like crores of others
but you understand what I
mean).
Amir Garib features Dev
Anand playing Robin Hood
where he lives a dual life.
Meets Hema, both fall in love
and then we have another mys-
tery about a rich dad and then
a dead dad. None of the songs
made much of a mark on me
so I am not mentioning them
here. Joshila has one of my fa-
vourite songs, Kiska rasta
dekhe… the movie is a murder
and romantic mystery with a
lot of twists and turns. We
have Hema Malini, Raakhee,
Pran, Padma Khanna, Bindu
and at the centre of it all Dev
Anand, who is very stylish
with sunglasses and that debo-
nair style.
Shareef Budmash is again
full of twists and turns, im-
posters with an Indian govern-
ment’s plan for a new kind of
super aircraft thrown in.Aman
ke Farishtey has a patriotic
plot which includes a police
officer, a dancer and a jailbird.
Censor is a film that satirises
film censorship in India along
with Dev Anand Shammi Ka-
poor, Hema, Rekha and Jackie
Shroff. Johny Mera Naam had
everything – the plot, the stars,
the songs, the music, the vil-
lain – perfection personified!
Let’s just watch it…again!

Both her on-set and off-set experi-

Her journey took another com-

Kanhaiya Lal Ki.” This series,
which aired on both Star Bharat

Prabhu are star-crossed lovers in the
highly anticipated trailer for the Shiva
Nirvana directorial. Produced by Mythri
Movie Makers, the trailer for the film
reminds you of the old-school romance
movies that are no longer getting made. Meanwhile, the
film is all set to release on September 1. The makers have
been treating the audience with glimpses of the stunning
chemistry between the two leading stars.
Early in the trailer, there is a reference to Mani Ratnam’s
Roja. The film is made to take you back to a time when
romantic comedies were plentiful, with the biggest stars
getting paired opposite one another.
‘Kushi’ is as cute as it can get. The trailer takes the
audiences into the heartwarming world of Aaradhya and
Viplav who create a relatable but adorable world of ro-
mance. Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha’s chemistry
in the trailer is simply unmissable. Vijay is seen cutely
pursuing Samantha. It has beautiful shots
of Kashmir. The trailer reminds us of
Alai Payuthey because the couple,
who is madly in love with each other,
get married against the family’s wish-
es. However, later, things go downhill.

A
mid the public divorce
of American actor
Ethan Slater with wife
Lilly Jay, Ariana

insensitive on the matter. Days
after the reports of the two dating
each other came out, Ethan’s wife
had jarring comments to make
about the singer. She had said that
her family was only ‘collateral
damage’ for Ariana. Despite all
the backlash that the American
singer has been receiving for her

she is in no mood to retreat. Ac-
cording to Entertainment To-

on Twitter, and Ariana has
been facing backlash yet
again. Once before,

Editor-In-Chief: Dr Jagdeesh Chandra Editor: Anita Hada Sangwan responsible for selection of news under the PRB Act PERSPECT VE 02 Jaipur, Thursday | August 10, 2023 www.firstindia.co.in firstindia.co.in/epapers/jaipur thefirstindia thefirstindia thefirstindia MODI’S EYE ON DISCIPLINE n 1996, Municipal Elections were round the corner in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh and Narendra bhai was appointed in-charge for these states. Modiji addressed all the karyakartas in a meeting and said “All the workers will func- tion in their respective wards only. No karyakarta will go into any other ward.” And then, he took time out to hold meetings with every single ward individu- ally in order to address specific issues of each of the wards. Nar- endra Modi visited my ward once to meet all the workers. His in- structions were already very clear that no karyakarta from any other ward should be present in the meeting. Well, I have such vivid memories of the day! One kar- yakarta named Satinder Singh from some other ward happened to be present in the meeting of my ward that day. As soon as Modiji stepped into the meeting room, he immedi- ately pointed out that Satinder Singh did not belong to my ward and asked me “How is Satinder present in this meeting?” I was speechless. I was simply aston- ished to see that Modiji recog- nises people individually and there was just one karyakarta from another ward and Narendra bhai was able to identify him. Only he can have such a sharp outlook towards life. Narendra bhai is extremely attentive to- wards his workers and his man- agement skills, levels of efficien- cy are beyond the ordinary. This meticulous planning and execu- tion resulted in us winning 15 out of 20 seats in the municipal elec- tions of Chandigarh. I Gian Chand Gupta, Speaker, Haryana Assembly MODI HAS SHOWN PAKISTAN ITS PLACE hen I was joining the BJP, I met him late night in his office. Even though it was 10 o’clock, still the office was buzzing with activity. It was difficult for anyone to dis- tinguish whether it was daytime or late in the night around 10 pm since the office so alive. He is a workaholic and believes in spend- ing most of his time thinking about the nation, thinking about the problems, trying to find a solu- tion to those problems. I think India needed a strong leader like Narendra Modiji. He believed that Pakistan had to be shown its place and the surgical strike was a mas- terstroke of Narendra Modi. W SM Krishna, Former Chief Minister, Karnataka ‘MODI HAI TO MUMKIN HAI…’ UNTOLD STORIES OF PM MODI — PART 51 APRIMEMINISTER EXTRAORDINAIRE! Our readers will get a look into some inspiring aspects of PM Modi’s persona and his thought process through these stories. His sharp insights, his vision and his innovative ideas coming from the ground realities of the nation he is leading, make him the most successful and loved PM India has ever had! PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI MODI’S DESI IDEA TO SAVE TREES M Modi said that it was very essential to curb deforesta- tion and conduct plantation drives. I felt there was a great need to cre- ate awareness among the citizens. A tree plantation drive must be held on a massive scale to in- crease public involvement in this cause. We took out the “Seva Yatra” and I used to go out along with the people in the yatra. Peo- ple used to walk barefoot and I too would do that intermittently. We also got support from many social and political organizations. When the yatra had reached its point of culmination, PM Modi himself visited the event and ap- preciated the initiative. He was very pleased with the way the drive was conducted. He also said that this will help in maintaining a continuous flow of water in Narmadaji. When I told PM Modi that we planted these many trees, his first statement was “It is very good to plant trees but it is equal- ly important to save trees.” He also said that several trees tend to dry up during the summer season due to lack of water. For this he suggested that we must fill up an earthern pot and dig it next to the roots of tree. This will en- sure that water reaches the roots of a plant, drop by drop. Also, there is no wastage of water if we use this method of providing wa- ter to the plant. What can we call this other than PM Modi’s deep love for the environment and his interest in preservation of nature? He suggested us methods that would not only save the trees from drying up, but would also conserve water. P Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister, Madhya Pradesh MODI’S TRIBUTE TO KARGIL MARTYR fter the Kargil war, Lok Sabha elec- tions were to be held and Modiji suggested that we select someone from one of the martyrs’ families as a Lok Sab- ha candidate of BJP from Hary- ana. After a deep search spread over five to six days, we sug- gested a name to him and that was of Sudha Yadav. And the kind of thumping response we received after she received the ticket, is something that we can never forget and it was indeed worth the applause. Modiji de- cided to convene a meeting to arrange resources for Sudha Ya- dav. Modiji started with saying “When I go home, my mother puts some money in my pocket out of sheer love that she has for me! So whenever I feel some- one is doing something good, I contribute money to that cause.” And then he put his hand in his pocket, and took out all the money there was in it, and put it in the kalash. What happened next was unbelievable! A queue started building up and moti- vated by the gesture shown by Modiji, people started dropping money into the kalash. 7 lakh rupees were collected in cash in just that one meeting and we won the election. Smriti Irani speaks in the Lok Sabha during ongoing Monsoon Session of the Parliament, in New Delhi on Wednesday. RAHUL’S ‘FLYING KISS’ TRIGGERS ROW Indian Army can restore peace in Manipur in a day, says Rahul Gandhi Manipur is not divided, Smriti Irani on Rahul Gandhi’s remarks in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi was leaving after his first speech in the Parl after being reinstated as an MP, he blew a kiss to the BJP MPs. Irani alleged that he misbehaved and “only a misogynistic man can gesture a fly- ing kiss to female parlia- mentarians”. Also, BJP women MPs met LS Speaker Om Birla and demanded “stringent action” against Rahul. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday tore into the Narendra Modi government, say- ing its policies “murdered Bharat Mata (Mother India)” in violence-hit Manipur, in his first speech since being reinstated as an MP. Addressing the Lok Sabha during a debate on the no- confidence motion against the central govt over the violence in the northeastern state, Gandhi dubbed the ruling BJP as “deshdrohi (traitors)”, accusing the gov- ernment of “dividing Mani- pur into two parts”. He said, “Some days back I visited Manipur. Our PM did not go. He still has not gone. Because for him Manipur is not a part of India.” Speaking immediately after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s speech on the no-confidence mo- tion in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Union Min- ister Smriti Irani said that “Manipur is an integral part of India. It’s not divided and can’t be divided.” She was responding to Rahul Gandhi’s charge that BJP’s politics has divided Manipur into two parts. “I condemn the aggressive behaviour seen today (re- ferring to Rahul Gandhi’s speech in the House). For the first time in the history of nation, someone spoke about the murder of ‘Bharat Maa’ and Con- gress kept on clapping,” Smriti Irani said. Nowhere in this country is there a whiff of no-confidence. There is not a no-confidence in PM, this govt in country. People have complete faith in PM. This no-con- fidence motion is politi- cally motivated,” Shah said while participating in debate on No-confi- dence motion in the LS. Amit Shah said that this no-confidence motion will show the real charac- ter of the Opposition in the country. • 10. evAnand and Hema Malini first acted to- gether in the super block- buster Johny Mera Naam, the movie re- mains one of my all-time favourites and we have al- ready done a full feature on it inThrowbackThurs- day earlier. Of all the Dev-Hema films like Amir Garib, Joshila, Tere Mere Sapne, Chhupa Rustam, Sha- reef Budmaash, Cen- sor, Jaaneman and Aman Ke Farishtey, Johny Mera Naam is by far the best. I think there is some film Sachhe ka Bol Bala too. Tere Mere Sapne was a movie before its time and the questions it throws up are very much rel- evant today for the medical profession and society. The quandary of doctors who fight for survival with their ideals intact versus the funeral pyre of principles to earn money is beautifully portrayed by Dev Anand and other doctors in the movie. The path of the film where moral decline impacts the personal life negatively leading to all-round despair makes one think even to- day as we see the situa- tion all around us. Doctors wear the mask of a Life-Giver and in real and reel life we expect them to deliver, disre- garding the emo- tional needs of the doctor, who is, after all, a human. Tere Mere Sapne, with Mumtaz as the wife of the ideal- istic Dr Dev Anand and Hema Malini as the ailing Superstar of the ‘un- principled but cater- ing to the rich’Dr Dev, has some beauti- ful songs, namely Jaise Radha ne mala japi, Haan Maine kasam li… Chhupa Rustam has all the features of a patriotic potboiler and is a bit confusing as we have a treasure hunt for aTem- ple of Gold, abductions galore; in fact multiple abductions of the Hema Malini and a mys- tery to boot. Shot in Himachal, the movie was scenically a treat and so was Hema Malini- absolutely gorgeous. We have Vijay Anand too in a cameo role and of course, the com- plete battery ofAjit, Premnath and Prem Chopra, so the vil- lainy is a scream. Dheere se jana khatiyan mein by Kishore Kumar is funny even today, Hum Chhupe Rustom hain is delightfully apt as it leads to Hema’s abduction. Jaaneman has Hema Malini in a double role whereas, un- like Seeta aur Geeta, she plays a negative/positive role. Dev Anand plays a taxi driver and he wore the uniform the entire film, except the climax and believe me, Dev Anand did bring his own style to the drab taxi driver uniform. It features a song Allahabad mein paida huyi main which tickled me to no end as I too was born in the holy city of Allahabad now Prayagraj (like crores of others but you understand what I mean). Amir Garib features Dev Anand playing Robin Hood where he lives a dual life. Meets Hema, both fall in love and then we have another mys- tery about a rich dad and then a dead dad. None of the songs made much of a mark on me so I am not mentioning them here. Joshila has one of my fa- vourite songs, Kiska rasta dekhe… the movie is a murder and romantic mystery with a lot of twists and turns. We have Hema Malini, Raakhee, Pran, Padma Khanna, Bindu and at the centre of it all Dev Anand, who is very stylish with sunglasses and that debo- nair style. Shareef Budmash is again full of twists and turns, im- posters with an Indian govern- ment’s plan for a new kind of super aircraft thrown in.Aman ke Farishtey has a patriotic plot which includes a police officer, a dancer and a jailbird. Censor is a film that satirises film censorship in India along with Dev Anand Shammi Ka- poor, Hema, Rekha and Jackie Shroff.
