talks about
her meet-
ing with
PM Modi
post her re-
turn from
Rio Para-
lympics in 2016. She re-
calls how in her career
of 10 years and years of
winning medals, it was
the very first time when
the Prime Minister of
India had invited her to
be part of a Meet and
Greet ceremony
. PM
Modi called her by her
name and said “Deepa,
in all your lectures,
speeches and interac-
tion with other players,
it is your positivity that
comes to the fore. I my-
self watch your videos
many a time and I feel
positive.” I believe noth-
ing can make for a more
memorable
moment
than when the Prime
Minister himself ac-
knowledges your inner
strength and courage,
says Deepa.
It was after Tokyo
2020 Paralympics
when all the ath-
letes met Prime
Minister Modi af-
ter returning
home with 19
medals. I had
participated not
just as a sport-
sperson but as a
team leader too in
those Paralym-
pics. Modiji supported,
blessed and encouraged
all the athletes before
they left for the event.
The medals, which we
won through Modiji’s
support and our hard
work were instrumen-
tal in changing the way
people perceive disabil-
ities. PM Modi’s en-
couragement
paved the
way for Paralympics
to
be treated like main-
stream sports in India.
He met all of us with
great love, affection and
appreciated our efforts.
He took time out for us
generously
from his
tight schedule- a PM’s
time is always invalua-
ble - and those golden
moments will remain
itched forever in the
hearts and minds of
our young athletes. The
best part about this was
that PM Modi had de-
tailed information
of
each and every player.
He just wasn’t aware of
the personal lives of the
athletes but he also fol-
lowed them religiously
throughout their Tokyo
tour so much so that he
knew what exactly the
players were doing at
what time, what their
likes and dislikes are,
much like a family
member would do. This
differentiate
s PM Modi
from all other leaders
India has ever seen- his
keen interest in people,
their problems and as-
pirations and a burning
desire to help everyone
reach their goals. Such
encourageme
nt coming
from the PM completely
changes the psyche of
the athletes and they
are filled with the
fervour of patriot-
ism, the desire to
bring home a
medal!
It is obvi-
ousthatwhen
the PM him-
self is interact-
ing with play-
ers, there is this
inevitable focus
on governance.
The players share
n u m e r o u s
thoughts with him and
they include feedback
the facilities, a look into
their problems, the pro-
cess of preparing for
tournaments
, and when
our PM takes cogni-
zance of such issues, it
does not only encourage
the players but it helps
in bringing the country
together and transform-
ing the mindset towards
the disabled.
I thank our PM for
mentioningmyachieve-
ments in his Sept 25,
2016 Mann Ki Baat
when he said that he
will never forget my
words I spoke after
I won the silver
medal in Rio.
I had said
“ w i t h
this medal I have de-
feated my handicap”. I
believe Modiji found it
energizing and I thank
him for recognizing me
for all my efforts.
I clearly recall one
very special moment
with PM Modi when I
experienced
how much
he cares about his coun-
trymen. It was a recep-
tion on August 15 at
Rashtrapati
Bhawan
and I had the honour to
be a part of it too. When
PM Modi came towards
us, he began by interact-
ing one by one with all
the athletes. We already
know how well-versed
he is at all times with
the personal and profes-
sional details of each
and every player. At the
same time, his aura is so
magnetic, that people
tend to flock to him nat-
urally
.Asheapproached
me, suddenly a lot of
people came towards us
to greet him. In their ex-
citement, they some-
how overlooked the fact
that I was sitting there,
at the centre of the com-
motion. And all of them
starting reaching out to
the PM over me which
was a cause of discom-
fort for me.
But then the most un-
expected happened. PM
Modi himself, with both
hishands,createdakind
of barrier around me as
if trying to shield me in
that commotion.
And
then, being the beloved
brother of every woman
in the country
, he placed
hishandonmybackand
told everyone to be cau-
tious. He said “Deepa
has undergone several
surgeries and her back
has innumerable
stitch-
es. Please do not lean
over her. She will get
hurt.” At that moment,
tears swelled in my eyes
when I heard the PM say
these words so full of
empathy, compassion
and concern. I felt it was
totallyremarkablethata
he should even remem-
ber that Deepa is strug-
gling with a spinal cord
injury and that the
Prime Minister should
try and protect her from
bodily harm.
I was touched and
overwhelmed
by this ex-
pression of concern for
me by PM Modi. I have
had the privilege of
meeting and interacting
with PM Modi on nu-
merous occasions over a
decade. In fact there was
one instance when he
himself wheeled my
wheelchair to the stage
during a programme!
I
got a call from PMO one
day that said “Deepaji
you need to reach
Ahmedabad
for an
event.” It was at a very
shortnoticebutformeit
was a matter of great
pride and honour as I
was being invited at the
inauguration
of Trans-
Stadia, which is one of
the most advanced inte-
grated multi-purpos
e
stadiums in the country
.
Some of the finest ath-
letesof thecountrywere
invited to this event but
PM Modi came up to all
of us and said “This line
up of great achievers
wouldneverbecomplete
without a woman, and
without a disabled.”
And then he wheeled me
onto the stage prior to
his address. What made
theeveningmorememo-
rable was that during
histhreeminutespeech,
PM Modi again ad-
dressed the youth of the
country and said that if
someonereallyneedsin-
spiration to be able to
overcomethechallenges
of life, he or she must
definitely read Deepa’s
biography once. She is a
living example of grit
and resilience.
That day to this mo-
ment, it has been my
endeavour to live up to
the faith, concern and
respect PM Modi har-
bours for me. I would
never want that trust to
break and at the same
time I want to continue
to contribute in the
making of my New In-
dia that cares for its
women and its disabled.

33 liquor shops in Jpr taken
by Punjab businessman!
Nirmal Tiwari
Jaipur: Pink city,
which has its identity
as small Kashi in the
country, is being looked
down these days due to
flourishing wine cul-
ture. A liquor business-
man from Punjab has
taken 33 liquor shops in
Jaipur and is bent on
making the capital a liq-
uor hub. Despite out-
standing guarantee
dues of several crores,
Excise Department is
shying away from tak-
ing any action.
Over rate and over-
time rules are being
openly breached at the
liquor shops of Punjab
Wines. The surprising
element is that liquor
shops were issued to
Punjab Wines without
proper verification and
validation of their bank
status. Due to this ne-
glect of Excise Inspec-
tors, if this group leaves
shop in middle of the
year, then Excise De-
partment may have to
bear loss of crores. In
2018 also, a group of
Delhi had run away
leaving arrears in the
same way
.
EXCISE DEPARTMENT BLINDFOLDED
With the connivance of the Excise Inspectors, the
rules are also being ignored at the shops operated
by this group in the city. People from outside Jaipur
have been engaged as salesmen who are selling liquor
at over rate day and night. The irony is that in spite of
all the information, the Excise Department is blind-
folded. Due to the illegal business of this group, liquor
culture is flourishing in the city of Jaipur.

Jaipur: The draft forest
policy of the state has
been prepared in which
the target has been set
to develop forest area
up to 20 percent of the
total geographical area
of the state which at
present is 8.50 percent.
Principal Secretary-
Forest Shikhar Agraw-
al said that the goal of
almost three times the
forest area by the year
2040 is difficult but to
achieve this, activities
in the forest area as
well as in the outer ar-
eas have to be made im-
portant.
To increase the forest
cover, there will also be
a need for a massive
change in the way of
growing plants in nurs-
eries of the department
and more manpower
will also be required.
The Forest depart-
ment is hopeful that not
only the new forest pol-
icy but also a necessary

goals will have to be
brought out soon so that
the target of increasing
the forest cover in the
state can be achieved.

talks about
her meet-
ing with
PM Modi
post her re-
turn from
Rio Para-
lympics in 2016. She re-
calls how in her career
of 10 years and years of
winning medals, it was
the very first time when
the Prime Minister of
India had invited her to
be part of a Meet and
Greet ceremony
. PM
Modi called her by her
name and said “Deepa,
in all your lectures,
speeches and interac-
tion with other players,
it is your positivity that
comes to the fore. I my-
self watch your videos
many a time and I feel
positive.” I believe noth-
ing can make for a more
memorable moment
than when the Prime
Minister himself ac-
knowledges your inner
strength and courage,
says Deepa.
It was after Tokyo
2020 Paralympics
when all the ath-
letes met Prime
Minister Modi af-
ter returning
home with 19
medals. I had
participated not
just as a sport-
sperson but as a
team leader too in
those Paralym-
pics. Modiji supported,
blessed and encouraged
all the athletes before
they left for the event.
The medals, which we
won through Modiji’s
support and our hard
work were instrumen-
tal in changing the way
people perceive disabil-
ities. PM Modi’s en-
couragement paved the
way for Paralympics to
be treated like main-
stream sports in India.
He met all of us with
great love, affection and
appreciated our efforts.
He took time out for us
generously from his
tight schedule- a PM’s
time is always invalua-
ble - and those golden
moments will remain
itched forever in the
hearts and minds of
our young athletes. The
best part about this was
that PM Modi had de-
tailed information of
each and every player.
He just wasn’t aware of
the personal lives of the
athletes but he also fol-
lowed them religiously
throughout their Tokyo
tour so much so that he
knew what exactly the
players were doing at
what time, what their
likes and dislikes are,
much like a family
member would do. This
differentiates PM Modi
from all other leaders
India has ever seen- his
keen interest in people,
their problems and as-
pirations and a burning
desire to help everyone
reach their goals. Such
encouragement coming
from the PM completely
changes the psyche of
the athletes and they
are filled with the
fervour of patriot-
ism, the desire to
bring home a
medal!
It is obvi-
ousthatwhen
the PM him-
self is interact-
ing with play-
ers, there is this
inevitable focus
on governance.
The players share
n u m e r o u s
thoughts with him and
they include feedback
the facilities, a look into
their problems, the pro-
cess of preparing for
tournaments, and when
our PM takes cogni-
zance of such issues, it
does not only encourage
the players but it helps
in bringing the country
together and transform-
ing the mindset towards
the disabled.
I thank our PM for
mentioningmyachieve-
ments in his Sept 25,
2016 Mann Ki Baat
when he said that he
will never forget my
words I spoke after
I won the silver
medal in Rio.
I had said
“ w i t h
this medal I have de-
feated my handicap”. I
believe Modiji found it
energizing and I thank
him for recognizing me
for all my efforts.
I clearly recall one
very special moment
with PM Modi when I
experienced how much
he cares about his coun-
trymen. It was a recep-
tion on August 15 at
Rashtrapati Bhawan
and I had the honour to
be a part of it too. When
PM Modi came towards
us, he began by interact-
ing one by one with all
the athletes. We already
know how well-versed
he is at all times with
the personal and profes-
sional details of each
and every player. At the
same time, his aura is so
magnetic, that people
tend to flock to him nat-
urally
.Asheapproached
me, suddenly a lot of
people came towards us
to greet him. In their ex-
citement, they some-
how overlooked the fact
that I was sitting there,
at the centre of the com-
motion. And all of them
starting reaching out to
the PM over me which
was a cause of discom-
fort for me.
But then the most un-
expected happened. PM
Modi himself, with both
hishands,createdakind
of barrier around me as
if trying to shield me in
that commotion. And
then, being the beloved
brother of every woman
in the country
, he placed
hishandonmybackand
told everyone to be cau-
tious. He said “Deepa
has undergone several
surgeries and her back
has innumerable stitch-
es. Please do not lean
over her. She will get
hurt.” At that moment,
tears swelled in my eyes
when I heard the PM say
these words so full of
empathy, compassion
and concern. I felt it was
totallyremarkablethata
he should even remem-
ber that Deepa is strug-
gling with a spinal cord
injury and that the
Prime Minister should
try and protect her from
bodily harm.
I was touched and
overwhelmed by this ex-
pression of concern for
me by PM Modi. I have
had the privilege of
meeting and interacting
with PM Modi on nu-
merous occasions over a
decade. In fact there was
one instance when he
himself wheeled my
wheelchair to the stage
during a programme! I
got a call from PMO one
day that said “Deepaji
you need to reach
Ahmedabad for an
event.” It was at a very
shortnoticebutformeit
was a matter of great
pride and honour as I
was being invited at the
inauguration of Trans-
Stadia, which is one of
the most advanced inte-
grated multi-purpose
stadiums in the country
.
Some of the finest ath-
letesof thecountrywere
invited to this event but
PM Modi came up to all
of us and said “This line
up of great achievers
wouldneverbecomplete
without a woman, and
without a disabled.”
And then he wheeled me
onto the stage prior to
his address. What made
theeveningmorememo-
rable was that during
histhreeminutespeech,
PM Modi again ad-
dressed the youth of the
country and said that if
someonereallyneedsin-
spiration to be able to
overcomethechallenges
of life, he or she must
definitely read Deepa’s
biography once. She is a
living example of grit
and resilience.
That day to this mo-
ment, it has been my
endeavour to live up to
the faith, concern and
respect PM Modi har-
bours for me. I would
never want that trust to
break and at the same
time I want to continue
to contribute in the
making of my New In-
dia that cares for its
women and its disabled.

Presidential contest to define Cong’s political relevance!
Sharat K Verma
New Delhi: Even be-
fore giving somewhat of
a contest to the BJP in
presidential election,
the Congress party will
have to contest with
other political parties to
make itself heard. This
is so because the opposi-
tion parties are prepar-
ing to contest the elec-
tions by forming a non-
BJP and non-Congress
front. Even if a Third or
Federal Front is not
formed, opposition par-
ties are still trying to
field a common candi-
date and force the Con-
gress to support this op-
position alliance. On
the other hand Con-
gress is not ready to sup-
port the leader of other
party other than its own
party in any condition.
The Congress wants
that a presidential can-
didate fielded by it
should be supported
‘automatically’ by the
rest of the parties as
has been the case in the
past. That is why the
Congress has engaged
Mallikarjun Kharge in
this campaign.
On the other hand the
leaders of Mamata Ba-
nerjee,Chandrashekhar
Rao and Arvind Kejri-
wal’s parties are en-
gaged in different ef-
forts. Until a few days
ago, the Samajwadi Par-
ty National President
AkhileshYadavwasalso
taking initiative in this
matter. But he has been
embroiled in the by-elec-
tions to two Lok Sabha
seats in his state - Azam-
garh and Rampur. Both
the seats are of impor-
tantforhimasbothhave
been his party’s seats
and vacated by resigna-
tion. However, Mamata
Banerjee has called a
meeting of opposition
parties on Wednesday
.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi
Party MP Sanjay Singh
has gone to Mumbai to
meet Sharad Pawar. K
Chandrashekhar Rao
has already met Stalin,
Hemant Soren, Mamta
Banerjee, Arvind Kejri-
wal etc. So, the Congress
has yet to fight the battle
of deciding the candi-
datebeforetherealfight.
Meanwhile, Sonia Gan-
dhi’s health has deterio-
rated and Rahul Gandhi
is embroiled in ED’s in-
terrogation and in such
situation,Congressfinds
itself embroiled in a po-
litical ‘turf war’, the re-
sult of which will decide
thepoliticalfutureof the
grand-old party
.
Why Mallikarjun
Kharge?
The Congress wants
that a presidential
candidate fielded by it
should be supported
‘automatically’ by the
rest of the parties as
has been the case in the

Cong sets 1.5 lakh jobs target;
Gehlot to monitor recruitments!
Naresh Sharma
Jaipur: The Gehlot gov-
ernment has prepared a
plan to provide jobs to
1.5 lakh unemployed in-
dividuals in the election
year. Sources reveal that
Chief Minister Ashok
Gehlot has asked all the
departments to fill such
posts which have been
lying vacant for a long
time. Apart from filling
the vacant posts, new
posts will also be creat-
edinmanydepartments
to accommodate the un-
employed youths.
The government is
preparing to provide 1.5
lakh jobs, but it is also a
fact that in the last
three and a half years,
the government has not
been able to undertake
recruitment as per the
budget announcement.
The government had
announced that it will
give jobs to 75 thousand
unemployed every year.
Accordingly, more than
2.25 lakh jobs were to be
given, but till now only
1 lakh 19 thousand 559
jobs, across various
posts, have been given.
Inviewof theelection
year, CM Gehlot himself
will regularly monitor
the recruitments.It is
worth mentioning that a
day earlier, Prime Min-
ister Narendra Modi
had also announced to
make available 10 lakh
recruitments in the cen-
tral departments.
AGENDA: HELPING

In view of the election

mentioning that a day
earlier, PM Modi had also
announced to make avail-

a situation, it is clear that
the focus of the Center

Jaipur: On the comple-
tion of 3 years of Gehlot
government, although
efforts have been made
to satisfy Congress
workers and leaders by
giving them political
appointments, but the
leaders who have been
made vice-chairman in
boards, corporations
and commissions are
still waiting to get par-
ticipation in the govt.
However, the wait for
the Vice-Chairman of
Board-Corporations
and Commissions is go-
ing to end soon.
In fact, preparations
are on to give participa-
tion in the government
to the Vice-Chairman
of the Board-Corpora-
tions and Commissions,
by terming them as
‘Deputy Minister’.
Word is that soon or-
ders may be issued by
the Cabinet Secretariat
to give the status of
Deputy Minister to the
Vice-Chairman of
Board-Corporations
and Commissions.
With the status of
Deputy Minister, the
Vice-Chairman of the
Board-Corporation and
Commissions will get
facilities like govern-
ment vehicle, salary al-
lowances, monthly
house rent and stay in
the circuit house. Also,
they will get medical
facilities like ministers
of state. Apart from
this, office and govern-
ment staff will also be
available.
Interestingly, the Ge-
hlot government had
appointed chairman
and vice-chairman in
various boards-corpora-
tions and commissions,
but the government
gave the status of minis-
ters of state and cabinet
ministers to them while
also according them fa-
cilities. But the Vice-
Chairman of the Board-
Corporations and Com-
missions did not get
anything in the name of
facilities. For the last 4
months, the appointed
individuals are working
without facilities.
At the same time,
there are also vice-
chairmen of many
boards-corporations
and commissions who
do not even have an of-
fice to sit. And there are
manyofficeswhereonly
the chairman has got a
seat. In such a situation,
these Vice-Chairman
were being forced to
work without facilities.
Recently, the leaders
who were appointed
Vice-Chairman had also
expressed their anguish
by meeting Chief Minis-
ter Ashok Gehlot, on
which the Chief Minis-
ter also assured them of
participation in the gov-
ernment soon. And only
after that the exercise
of giving the status of
Deputy Minister to the
Vice-Chairman has
been initiated.
Where the Gehlot
govt has made more
than a dozen MLAs as
the chairman of the
board-corporation and
commissions, there are
also two MLAs who
have been made VC in
the board-corporation
and commissions.
These include Deep-
chand Kheria and Ram-
ila Khadia. However,
due to office of profit,
these two MLAs will not
be able to get the status
of Deputy Minister.

The Rajasthan Chief

the current environ-
ment in the nation and
claimed that ED no-
tices have been given

BJP will have to face
their actions. The pub-
lic has understood
their approach. They
are destroying democ-
racy. Who will be safe

ends,” he said.
Gehlot said that to-
day there has been ten-
sion in the street in the
city and even in vil-
lages of the nation.
“Don’t know when a
spark would ignite a
fire on the issues like
Hindu-Muslim divide.

hlot asked.
The Ra-
jasthan CM
claimed that
the central
govern-
ment
is getting upset as to
why the Congress par-
ty is not bowing down
despite torturing their
leader Rahul Gandhi.
“The Modi govern-
ment is probably for-
getting that the Con-
gress never bowed
down to the British
and the elements
threatening the unity
of the country. Con-
gress leaders and
workers went ahead
and sacrificed for the
country and democra-
cy but did not learn to
bow down. Congress
will stand firmly in
front of this dictatorial
rule. The countrymen
have agreed that Rahul
Gandhi is the only one
who is fighting against
PM Modi and his gov-
ernment. Now all the
people writing articles
have started naming
Rahul stressing that
one person, whose
name is Rahul Gandhi,
is fighting continuous-
ly. Rahul Gandhi has
been made a targeted.
There was no case, as it
is a clear cut dealing.
Yet notice was given,”
he said, and added fur-
ther, “I strongly con-
demn the assault on
journalists by the po-
lice at the Congress
Headquarters. The
Congress stands firm-
ly with the journalists
who are working im-
partially. We will fight

In fact, this time in

Due to this the farm-

  • 1. eepa Malik talks about her meet- ing with PM Modi post her re- turn from Rio Para- lympics in 2016. She re- calls how in her career of 10 years and years of winning medals, it was the very first time when the Prime Minister of India had invited her to be part of a Meet and Greet ceremony . PM Modi called her by her name and said “Deepa, in all your lectures, speeches and interac- tion with other players, it is your positivity that comes to the fore. I my- self watch your videos many a time and I feel positive.” I believe noth- ing can make for a more memorable moment than when the Prime Minister himself ac- knowledges your inner strength and courage, says Deepa. It was after Tokyo 2020 Paralympics when all the ath- letes met Prime Minister Modi af- ter returning home with 19 medals. I had participated not just as a sport- sperson but as a team leader too in those Paralym- pics. Modiji supported, blessed and encouraged all the athletes before they left for the event. The medals, which we won through Modiji’s support and our hard work were instrumen- tal in changing the way people perceive disabil- ities. PM Modi’s en- couragement paved the way for Paralympics to be treated like main- stream sports in India. He met all of us with great love, affection and appreciated our efforts. He took time out for us generously from his tight schedule- a PM’s time is always invalua- ble - and those golden moments will remain itched forever in the hearts and minds of our young athletes. The best part about this was that PM Modi had de- tailed information of each and every player. He just wasn’t aware of the personal lives of the athletes but he also fol- lowed them religiously throughout their Tokyo tour so much so that he knew what exactly the players were doing at what time, what their likes and dislikes are, much like a family member would do. This differentiate s PM Modi from all other leaders India has ever seen- his keen interest in people, their problems and as- pirations and a burning desire to help everyone reach their goals. Such encourageme nt coming from the PM completely changes the psyche of the athletes and they are filled with the fervour of patriot- ism, the desire to bring home a medal! It is obvi- ousthatwhen the PM him- self is interact- ing with play- ers, there is this inevitable focus on governance. The players share n u m e r o u s thoughts with him and they include feedback the facilities, a look into their problems, the pro- cess of preparing for tournaments , and when our PM takes cogni- zance of such issues, it does not only encourage the players but it helps in bringing the country together and transform- ing the mindset towards the disabled. I thank our PM for mentioningmyachieve- ments in his Sept 25, 2016 Mann Ki Baat when he said that he will never forget my words I spoke after I won the silver medal in Rio. I had said “ w i t h this medal I have de- feated my handicap”. I believe Modiji found it energizing and I thank him for recognizing me for all my efforts. I clearly recall one very special moment with PM Modi when I experienced how much he cares about his coun- trymen. It was a recep- tion on August 15 at Rashtrapati Bhawan and I had the honour to be a part of it too. When PM Modi came towards us, he began by interact- ing one by one with all the athletes. We already know how well-versed he is at all times with the personal and profes- sional details of each and every player. At the same time, his aura is so magnetic, that people tend to flock to him nat- urally .Asheapproached me, suddenly a lot of people came towards us to greet him. In their ex- citement, they some- how overlooked the fact that I was sitting there, at the centre of the com- motion. And all of them starting reaching out to the PM over me which was a cause of discom- fort for me. But then the most un- expected happened. PM Modi himself, with both hishands, createdakind of barrier around me as if trying to shield me in that commotion. And then, being the beloved brother of every woman in the country , he placed hishandonmybackand told everyone to be cau- tious. He said “Deepa has undergone several surgeries and her back has innumerable stitch- es. Please do not lean over her. She will get hurt.” At that moment, tears swelled in my eyes when I heard the PM say these words so full of empathy, compassion and concern. I felt it was totallyremarkablethata he should even remem- ber that Deepa is strug- gling with a spinal cord injury and that the Prime Minister should try and protect her from bodily harm. I was touched and overwhelmed by this ex- pression of concern for me by PM Modi. I have had the privilege of meeting and interacting with PM Modi on nu- merous occasions over a decade. In fact there was one instance when he himself wheeled my wheelchair to the stage during a programme! I got a call from PMO one day that said “Deepaji you need to reach Ahmedabad for an event.” It was at a very shortnoticebutformeit was a matter of great pride and honour as I was being invited at the inauguration of Trans- Stadia, which is one of the most advanced inte- grated multi-purpos e stadiums in the country . Some of the finest ath- letesof thecountrywere invited to this event but PM Modi came up to all of us and said “This line up of great achievers wouldneverbecomplete without a woman, and without a disabled.” And then he wheeled me onto the stage prior to his address. What made theeveningmorememo- rable was that during histhreeminutespeech, PM Modi again ad- dressed the youth of the country and said that if someonereallyneedsin- spiration to be able to overcomethechallenges of life, he or she must definitely read Deepa’s biography once. She is a living example of grit and resilience. That day to this mo- ment, it has been my endeavour to live up to the faith, concern and respect PM Modi har- bours for me. I would never want that trust to break and at the same time I want to continue to contribute in the making of my New In- dia that cares for its women and its disabled. Nirmal Tiwari Jaipur: Pink city, which has its identity as small Kashi in the country, is being looked down these days due to flourishing wine cul- ture. A liquor business- man from Punjab has taken 33 liquor shops in Jaipur and is bent on making the capital a liq- uor hub. Despite out- standing guarantee dues of several crores, Excise Department is shying away from tak- ing any action. Over rate and over- time rules are being openly breached at the liquor shops of Punjab Wines. The surprising element is that liquor shops were issued to Punjab Wines without proper verification and validation of their bank status. Due to this ne- glect of Excise Inspec- tors, if this group leaves shop in middle of the year, then Excise De- partment may have to bear loss of crores. In 2018 also, a group of Delhi had run away leaving arrears in the same way . EXCISE DEPARTMENT BLINDFOLDED With the connivance of the Excise Inspectors, the rules are also being ignored at the shops operated by this group in the city. People from outside Jaipur have been engaged as salesmen who are selling liquor at over rate day and night. The irony is that in spite of all the information, the Excise Department is blind- folded. Due to the illegal business of this group, liquor culture is flourishing in the city of Jaipur. • 4. eepa Malik talks about her meet- ing with PM Modi post her re- turn from Rio Para- lympics in 2016. This differentiates PM Modi from all other leaders India has ever seen- his keen interest in people, their problems and as- pirations and a burning desire to help everyone reach their goals. Such encouragement coming from the PM completely changes the psyche of the athletes and they are filled with the fervour of patriot- ism, the desire to bring home a medal! It is obvi- ousthatwhen the PM him- self is interact- ing with play- ers, there is this inevitable focus on governance. The players share n u m e r o u s thoughts with him and they include feedback the facilities, a look into their problems, the pro- cess of preparing for tournaments, and when our PM takes cogni- zance of such issues, it does not only encourage the players but it helps in bringing the country together and transform- ing the mindset towards the disabled. I got a call from PMO one day that said “Deepaji you need to reach Ahmedabad for an event.” It was at a very shortnoticebutformeit was a matter of great pride and honour as I was being invited at the inauguration of Trans- Stadia, which is one of the most advanced inte- grated multi-purpose stadiums in the country . Sharat K Verma New Delhi: Even be- fore giving somewhat of a contest to the BJP in presidential election, the Congress party will have to contest with other political parties to make itself heard. This is so because the opposi- tion parties are prepar- ing to contest the elec- tions by forming a non- BJP and non-Congress front. Even if a Third or Federal Front is not formed, opposition par- ties are still trying to field a common candi- date and force the Con- gress to support this op- position alliance. On the other hand Con- gress is not ready to sup- port the leader of other party other than its own party in any condition. The Congress wants that a presidential can- didate fielded by it should be supported ‘automatically’ by the rest of the parties as has been the case in the past. That is why the Congress has engaged Mallikarjun Kharge in this campaign. On the other hand the leaders of Mamata Ba- nerjee,Chandrashekhar Rao and Arvind Kejri- wal’s parties are en- gaged in different ef- forts. Until a few days ago, the Samajwadi Par- ty National President AkhileshYadavwasalso taking initiative in this matter. But he has been embroiled in the by-elec- tions to two Lok Sabha seats in his state - Azam- garh and Rampur. Both the seats are of impor- tantforhimasbothhave been his party’s seats and vacated by resigna- tion. However, Mamata Banerjee has called a meeting of opposition parties on Wednesday . Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh has gone to Mumbai to meet Sharad Pawar. K Chandrashekhar Rao has already met Stalin, Hemant Soren, Mamta Banerjee, Arvind Kejri- wal etc. So, the Congress has yet to fight the battle of deciding the candi- datebeforetherealfight. Meanwhile, Sonia Gan- dhi’s health has deterio- rated and Rahul Gandhi is embroiled in ED’s in- terrogation and in such situation,Congressfinds itself embroiled in a po- litical ‘turf war’, the re- sult of which will decide thepoliticalfutureof the grand-old party . • 9. On the day of martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev, we paid tribute to the fifth Guru. —Dr Jagdeesh Chandra, CEO Editor-in-Chief, First India JAIPUR | THURSDAY, JUNE 16, 2022 www.firstindia.co.in I https://firstindia.co.in/epapers/jaipur I twitter.com/thefirstindia I facebook.com/thefirstindia I instagram.com/thefirstindia 08 2NDFRONT POSTAL REG NO. JPC/004/2022-24 First India Bureau Jaipur: On the comple- tion of 3 years of Gehlot government, although efforts have been made to satisfy Congress workers and leaders by giving them political appointments, but the leaders who have been made vice-chairman in boards, corporations and commissions are still waiting to get par- ticipation in the govt. However, the wait for the Vice-Chairman of Board-Corporations and Commissions is go- ing to end soon. In fact, preparations are on to give participa- tion in the government to the Vice-Chairman of the Board-Corpora- tions and Commissions, by terming them as ‘Deputy Minister’. Word is that soon or- ders may be issued by the Cabinet Secretariat to give the status of Deputy Minister to the Vice-Chairman of Board-Corporations and Commissions. With the status of Deputy Minister, the Vice-Chairman of the Board-Corporation and Commissions will get facilities like govern- ment vehicle, salary al- lowances, monthly house rent and stay in the circuit house. Also, they will get medical facilities like ministers of state. Apart from this, office and govern- ment staff will also be available. Interestingly, the Ge- hlot government had appointed chairman and vice-chairman in various boards-corpora- tions and commissions, but the government gave the status of minis- ters of state and cabinet ministers to them while also according them fa- cilities. But the Vice- Chairman of the Board- Corporations and Com- missions did not get anything in the name of facilities. For the last 4 months, the appointed individuals are working without facilities. At the same time, there are also vice- chairmen of many boards-corporations and commissions who do not even have an of- fice to sit. And there are manyofficeswhereonly the chairman has got a seat. In such a situation, these Vice-Chairman were being forced to work without facilities. Recently, the leaders who were appointed Vice-Chairman had also expressed their anguish by meeting Chief Minis- ter Ashok Gehlot, on which the Chief Minis- ter also assured them of participation in the gov- ernment soon. And only after that the exercise of giving the status of Deputy Minister to the Vice-Chairman has been initiated. Where the Gehlot govt has made more than a dozen MLAs as the chairman of the board-corporation and commissions, there are also two MLAs who have been made VC in the board-corporation and commissions. These include Deep- chand Kheria and Ram- ila Khadia. However, due to office of profit, these two MLAs will not be able to get the status of Deputy Minister. Political appointees to get ‘Deputy Minister’ status soon in Rajasthan NEW ‘ROLE’ CALL ‘Congress sacrificed for democracy, but never bowed before British’ Pilot detained with supporters, terms the act ‘despicable’ From PG 1… But now a days, no one is ready to meet. If needed further, we will ask for an appointment with the PM, President and speak our mind.” The Rajasthan Chief Minister questioned the current environ- ment in the nation and claimed that ED no- tices have been given only to harass. “Notic- es are being given to target. 90 crore rupees were given in 100 in- stallments to revive the National Herald news- paper. No one can take 1 rupee. Where then did money laundering come into scene? Indi- ra Gandhi was put in jail under the pressure of these people when Moraji Desai was the Home Minister. At that time we all went to jail in Jail Bharo Andolan. BJP will have to face their actions. The pub- lic has understood their approach. They are destroying democ- racy. Who will be safe when the rule of law ends,” he said. Gehlot said that to- day there has been ten- sion in the street in the city and even in vil- lages of the nation. “Don’t know when a spark would ignite a fire on the issues like Hindu-Muslim divide. Everyone is scared about what will happen tomor- row. There is so much fear in the country. 13 opposition par- ties have de- m a n d e d from the P r i m e Minister that he s h o u l d a d d r e s s the coun- try. I pray to PM Modi with folded hands that you address the nation and con- demn the vio- lence. What is the hesita- tion of Modi-Shah in doing this much,” Ge- hlot asked. The Ra- jasthan CM claimed that the central govern- ment is getting upset as to why the Congress par- ty is not bowing down despite torturing their leader Rahul Gandhi. “The Modi govern- ment is probably for- getting that the Con- gress never bowed down to the British and the elements threatening the unity of the country. Con- gress leaders and workers went ahead and sacrificed for the country and democra- cy but did not learn to bow down. Congress will stand firmly in front of this dictatorial rule. The countrymen have agreed that Rahul Gandhi is the only one who is fighting against PM Modi and his gov- ernment. Now all the people writing articles have started naming Rahul stressing that one person, whose name is Rahul Gandhi, is fighting continuous- ly. Rahul Gandhi has been made a targeted. There was no case, as it is a clear cut dealing. Yet notice was given,” he said, and added fur- ther, “I strongly con- demn the assault on journalists by the po- lice at the Congress Headquarters. The Congress stands firm- ly with the journalists who are working im- partially. We will fight against this govern- ment’s repression, we will win.” Aditi Nagar/Ashivini Yadav /Shivendra Parmar New Delhi: Congress leaders continue their protest in Delhi against the ED questioning of Rahul Gandhi. Pilot was taken to Narela police station along with his support- ers when he was headed to the AICC office. Dur- ing this, pro-Pilot MLAs Mukesh Bhakar and Vedprakash Solanki, clashed with the police. After a clash with the police, Pilot was taken into custody along with the supporting MLAs and taken to Narela po- lice station in a police van. A large number of Congress leaders-work- ers including Sachin Pilot, MLA Mukesh Bhakar, Vedprakash Solanki, Vipra Kalyan Board President Ma- hesh Sharma, youth leader Abhimanyu Poo- nia and Anil Chopra were detained. Sachin Pilot, while interacting with media, said, “We were trying to go to our party office, we were detained be- fore going to the party headquarters. Can’t we just go to our party headquarters, this is wrong in a democracy. This is despicable. We will continue our strug- gle. Central govern- ment has resorted to dictatorship but Con- gress worker is not go- ing to be afraid.” Congress has decided to ‘gherao’ Raj Bhavans in all state capitals on Thursday against ED interrogation of Rahul Gandhi and use of police force at AICC headquarters. Speaker Bir- la told Kataria that despite getting ap- proval from the cen- tral govt, farmers are getting upset due to non-procurement of garlic by the state govt on which Ka- taria assured that the govt would start gar- licprocurementsoon. In fact, this time in Rajasthan, due to the bumper yield, there was a huge drop in the prices of garlic. Due to this the farm- ers had to suffer heavy losses and their cost was not even being recov- ered. In view of this, farmers’ organiza- tions and rural dele- gations met Speaker Birla at the Lok Sab- ha Camp Office in Kota on May 2 and told him their prob- lems. They told Birla that thousands of farmers are in debt and requested the Birla to take some re- medial steps. Birla, taking the farmers’ problems seriously, called up the State Agriculture Minister Lal Chand Kataria immediately and asked him to send proposals for procurement. Birla had promised the farmers that after re- ceiving the proposal, they would be given approval as soon as possible. CONGRESS’ ‘1 PERSON,1 POST’ RULE CAUSES CHAOS IN PARTY ‘Delhi police entering Cong HQs shows desperation’ ‘...Who are you to stop us’ questions CM First India Bureau Jaipur: After imple- menting ‘one person, one post’ principle from Congress’s Nav Sankalp Shivir, Con- gress leaders who have held one post for more than 5 years or are hold- ing two posts, have re- signed, but still there are more than half a dozen leaders, who haven’t submitted their resignations. At the same time, un- der this principle, now even leaders considered close to Congress Gen- eral Secretary Priyanka Gandhi have come un- der its grip, due to which their restless- ness has increased. While Congress Nation- al Secretary Zubair Khan Dheeraj Gurjar are considered close to Congress General Sec- retary Priyanka Gan- dhi, Kuldeep Indora is considered very close to former state Congress President Sachin Pilot. Now the problem be- falling these leaders is whether they should resign from post of par- ty’s National Secy of or from that of Board-Cor- poration Chairman? Other office bearers include Shobha Solan- ki, GR Khatana, Dr Ji- tendra Singh, Rajendra Chaudhary, Lakhan Meena PS Sharma. ED will do its job, we will not inter- fere, but the widespread terror created by Delhi Police will not be toler- ated. Only 15 people have been allowed in AICC HQ. Who are you to stop us. Police com- missioner should get a proper investigation done and those who did the mistake should be punished. Amit Shah himself should monitor and find out as to who allowed 15 people.”
