Impact
n terms of
GDP rate,
India is un-
doubtedly at
the pinnacle
of its economic develop-
ment right now, and it’s
crucial that it has been able
to sustain this rate for an
extended period of time.
But there are many differ-
ent kinds of arguments that
might arise from this state-
ment, and each interpreta-
tion always offers some
fresh points of contention.
It’s also true that, even
with a steadily strong
growth rate, India contin-
ues to face numerous chal-
lenges, both old and new.
It is also worth noting that
when the Indian economy
is credited with jobless
growth in economic analy-
sis, it surprises the com-
mon man but this also has
many meanings of its own.
For example, the problem
of unemployment or the is-
sue of increasing employ-
ment opportunities has al-
ways been prominent in
Indian society and Indian
economic policies. A re-
cent report of the United
Nations organization ILO
regarding employment in
India in 2024 presents
many such figures which
seem to say that the situa-
tion of employment in the
country was neither under
control in the past nor is it
today. If this continues,
then this situation will be-
come more dire in the fu-
ture. This latest report in-
cludes a detailed discus-
sion on various dimensions
of unemployment in the
Indian economy. For ex-
ample, it has been men-
tioned in this report that
how much the total num-
ber of workers in our soci-
ety increased from the year
2000 till now, how many
got employment and what
was the actual number of
unemployment. Along
with this, how much the
contribution of agriculture
sector, manufacturing and
service sector increased
year after year, how much
did they earn and how
many people did they em-
ploy in the society.
Apart from all this, the
most interesting thing seen
in this report is that the un-
employment rate in India
has been increasing con-
tinuously for some time
now and the reason behind
this is the increasing popu-
lation, but those who are
getting employment in In-
dia now are not getting full
employment opportuni-
ties. That is, the percentage
of underemployment in
India has now become
comparatively much high-
er than the percentage of
unemployment. Due to
this, economic inequality
is continuously going out
of control. From the year
2000 till now, the total
number of workers in India
has increased by 17 crores,
while the number of unem-
ployed has increased from
92 lakhs to about 2.5
crores. That is, the rate of
unemployment in India
has more than doubled in
the last 20 years. If we
analyse deeper into the fig-
ures, then in the year 2000,
the rate of unemployment
in India was 2.32 percent,
in the year 2012, more than
one crore people were un-
employed in India and dur-
ing that time this rate was
2.18 percent and compared
to the last decade, unem-
ployment was compara-
tively less then. During the
year 2019, when Corona
had not entered, the num-
ber of unemployed in India
was around 3 crores and
then it reached 5.9 percent,
which has been the highest
rate of this century so far.
Then in the year 2022, the
total number of unem-
ployed was 2.29 crores and
the unemployment rate
came down to four percent.
All this makes it clear that
unemployment remains an
endless problem in India
despite the fact that India
is continuously achieving
a good economic growth
rate. Considering all this it
would be appropriate to
say that solving the prob-
lem of unemployment in
India does not seem to be
so easy.
Another very important
to note a detailed aspect of
this report and that is that
at present the rate of under-
employment in India is
higher than the rate of un-
employment. The general
explanation of underem-
ployment can be taken in
this way that in India, the
average work per day is
fixed at 8 hours. But at pre-
sent, a large section of the
population of India is get-
ting employment on a dai-
ly basis for much less than
this fixed time. Some peo-
ple are working for five
hours, some for three hours
or some for even less time,
as a result of which the
economic income of such
persons is very low on a
daily basis but they are get-
ting employment. Accord-
ing to the data, the rate of
underemployment was 8.1
percent in men and women
in the year 2012, which in-
creased to 9 and 9.6 per-
cent respectively in the
year 2019. However, this
rate has decreased in the
year 2022 and it is now re-
corded at 7.7 percent for
men and 7.1% for women.
Another aspect which
has been given a lot of im-
portance in this report is
that from the year 2000 till
now, 50 to 55% of the total
labour force in India is de-
pendent on their own ef-
forts for employment,
which has been placed in
the category of self-em-
ployed in this report and
which can also be consid-
ered as self-reliant, which
is much discussed in the
present times. The figures
show that in the year 2000,
there were 52.5% people in
this category, while in the
year 2022, their number
has increased to 55.8%.
The data of this report
also shows that the per-
centage of people under
regular employment in In-
dia has increased continu-
ously till the year 2019, but
after 2019, a decline has
been observed in it. Un-
doubtedly, the main reason
for this is the layoffs of
employees done by every
institution during Corona
for the purpose of cost con-
trol to maintain profitabil-
ity. According to the data,
in the year 2000, 14.2% of
the total workforce in India
was in regular employ-
ment, while in 2012 their
percentage increased to
17.9 and in 2019 it was the
maximum of 23.8%, but in
2022 it registered a sig-
nificant decline and stood
at 21.5%. On other hand,
percentage of temporary
employees in India is con-
tinuously decreasing.

SERVICE SECTOR
DOMINANCE
Aside from all of this,
though, it’s also critical
to remember that India’s
economy has been driven
by the service industry
since the 1990s. But the
primary goal of the 1990s
economic reforms was to
shift the direction of India’s
economic development
away from the agriculture
sector.But this objective
does not seem to have
been implemented on the
ground with a true purpose.
Today, the service sector
contributes around 55 per-
cent to India’s GDP, but its
contribution to employment
is comparatively very low
and on the contrary, even
today a large part of India’s
population is dependent on
agriculture for employment.
Regarding unemployment,
there is also a discussion
these days that if India’s
economy becomes 5 tril-
lion, then unemployment
will be halved. All these
are such thoughts which
seem to be very far
from ground reality.
Now the time has come
when economic policies
need new reforms in view
of employment in agricul-
ture sector, manufacturing
sector and service sector.
Along with this, it is also
necessary that if the GDP
in the economy continues
to grow, then the ac-
countability of economic
policies should be 100%
determined for the growth
of employment and per
capita income. Otherwise,
the growth of GDP will fail
to establish a very positive
aspect towards economic
development.

the situation of employment in the country was
neither under control in the past nor is it today. If

unenthused. The voting percentage remained low in
the second phase of polling in some states, notable
among them was Kerala, a state where literacy is high
and people are much more conscious of exercising
their right to franchise than in many other states. Vot-
ing for Kerala’s 20 seats fell sharply from 77.84 per-
cent in 2019 to 67.15 percent in 2024. In Manipur,
where ethnic clashes marred the atmosphere before
the polls, the percentage came down from 84.14 per-
cent to 77.95 percent.
The vote percentage for the total 88 seats in the sec-
ond phase was 60.7 percent, down by approximately 9
percent from the 2019 percentage of 69.64.
The low voting percentage has left political parties
wondering about its implications. Prime Minister Nar-

India who have voted today,” he posted on X.
D
ollowing discoveries by Hong Kong’s Cen-
tre for Food Safety and Singapore authori-
ties of carcinogenic substances in four
products of MDH and Everest brands of Indian
spices, both countries imposed bans on select spice
mixes from India.Additionally, the European Union
has raised alarms over contamination in more than
500 food products, including the two spice brands.
Ethylene oxide (ETO) has emerged as the common
culprit, detected in trace amounts. The Food Stand-
ards Authority of India (FSSAI) has to share the
blame for perceived laxity for the recent ban on
spices in the two
countries.
Responding to
these revelations,
the Indian govern-
ment has mandated
testing of export-
bound products for
ETO. The Spices
Board of India has
also made testing
mandatory for con-
signments headed
for Singapore and
Hong Kong.
Previously, Nes-
tle’s Cerelac baby
food was found to
exceed WHO pre-
scribed sugar limits
in India. Regarding
MDH and Everest,
renowned Indian
brands, it remains unclear whether similarly taint-
ed products are circulating in the domestic market.
The situation underscores the urgent need for strin-
gent regulatory measures and monitoring to safe-
guard public health and restore consumer confi-
dence in Indian food products and bring spice back
to the curry. The ban in Singapore and Hong Kong
will erode domestic consumers’ confidence in the
system.

BJP TRYING TO PACIFY ALLIANCE PARTNERS IN MAHARASHTRA!
hese days, BJP is busy making
its strategy regarding Maha-
rashtra. Sources say that BJP’s
ground surveys in Maharashtra shows
that the position of BJP candidates in the
field is very good, but due to the alliance,
the candidates of Ajit Pawar or Shinde’s
party are facing tough competition. In
many surveys, such claims have been
made on some seats of these candi-
dates. The much-discussed Baramati
parliamentary seat, from where Ajit Pa-
war’s wife Sunetra Pawar is contesting,
is facing a tough challenge from Sharad
Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule. Only
after this, the BJP leadership asked both
Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde to get
some of their candidates to contest the
elections on the lotus symbol. But both
these leaders are not able to accept this
proposal of BJP. The BJP leadership
has clearly told both these leaders that
wherever BJP does not have its own
candidates, the BJP cadre is not able to
come out openly in support of the candi-
dates of its alliance partners.
T
or some time,
JJP leader Du-
shyant Chauta-
la was trying to meet his
grandfather and former
Haryana Chief Minister
Om Prakash Chautala.
Recently, Dushyant got
success in his efforts
and he came to Delhi
with his brother Digvijay
to meet his grandfa-
ther. It is said that in
this meeting, Dushyant
repeatedly urged his
grandfather that ‘now
the time has come that
the Chautala family
should unite and for
this our political party
should also be united.’
It is reported that Om
Prakash Chautala said
on this proposal, “I am
ready to accept JJP as
my party, but I have
only one condition that
the leader of this party
will be Abhay Chautala.”
Obviously Dushyant did
not accept this propos-
al, things did not work
out and he returned
back to Haryana.
F
he real strategy of Sangh Parivar and BJP
is being made regarding UP. Underlining
its chances of victory, BJP has divided the
entire UP into three zones. The first zone is ‘Yellow’
i.e. such seats are part of this ‘zone’ where BJP is
registering a comfortable victory and no other party
is in competition on these seats. Most of the seats
in Uttar Pradesh are falling in this zone. The second
zone is ‘Green’ where BJP is facing competition from
rival candidates. And the third zone is ‘Red’. While
the BJP is facing a tough fight from its rivals, some
of the key seats in the ‘Red Zone’ are - Mainpuri,
Moradabad, Kannauj, Badayun, Muzaffarnagar,
Sambhal, Pilibhit, Rampur, Shravasti, Basti, Ambed-
kar Nagar, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Lalganj, Ghazipur,
Ghosi, Machlishahr, Kaushambi and Barabanki.
n Karnataka, ever since JDS has joined
hands with BJP, the Muslim vote bank there
has been inclined towards Congress. Before
now, Muslim votes were divided between Congress
and JDS, but on the other hand, Hindu votes are
united towards BJP. If sources are to be believed, the
anger of the Muslims of the state towards JDS has in-
creased only after the Danish Ali episode. Danish Ali,
who was considered very close to JDS chief HD Deve
Gowda, was firmly supported by the latter in getting
him a BSP ticket in 2019 for which Deve Gowda him-
self spoke to Mayawati. But when BJP MP Ramesh
Bidhuri in Parliament made some indecent remarks
on Danish Ali regarding his community, no statement
of Deve Gowda came out in defense of Danish. Due
to which the Muslims of Karnataka became very
angry with Deve Gowda. Congress has also attacked
Vokkaliga, the core vote bank of JDS. State Congress
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is a Vokkaliga
of the same caste as Deve Gowda. DK is very vocal
for the Vokkaliga community. Due to this also, division
of Vokkaliga votes has become possible in these elec-
tions. Congress hopes that it will get the votes of the
Vokkaliga community in bulk in these elections.

(Consulting Editor, Bharat24) on Saturday. The Tiranga flying high atop the clock tower at Lal
Chowk - inspires reverence pride, in one and all, at the achievement of the Indian state under
PM Narendra Modi. 22 years of longing to see progressive, developmental peaceful Kashmir
has today become a reality - a feeling long missed by Consulting Editor, Ajay Kumar - who had
to suddenly pack his bags and leave his hotel in the wee morning hours in the year 2001. Ajay
was threatened with dire consequences for his reporting by the swath of militancy prevalent
then. Standing in the midst of rain, with Dr Jagdeesh Chandra, Ajay Kumar narrated the horrors of
militant extremism experienced by him as a journalist reporting from Kashmir. And today, how
PM Modi’s stroke of resurgent India has metamorphosed Kashmir into a paradise it was always
remembered as. Though the rain played spoilsport, the duo went around the scenic spots of
Srinagar as they were enthralled by the rain-drenched ethereal beauty of “Jannat-e-Kashmir”.

n Shekhawati, the
thali isn’t just a
meal; it’s a cultural
cornerstone, espe-
cially during auspicious occa-
sions. Celebrations are incom-
plete without the symphony of
flavours that this thali brings
to the table. It’s a reflection of
the region’s hospitality and a
gesture of love passed down
through generations.
Let’s take a run through the
food items you will see in this
Thali…
MEETHE MOONG
AND CHAWAL:
SWEET HARMONY
Our journey kicks
off with the delight-
ful Meethe Moong, a
sweetened moong dal
that dances in sweet
harmony with Chawal.
This pairing showcases
Shekhawati’s mastery in
creating a symphony of
flavours that caresses
the taste buds.
This adventure continues with the
elegant simplicity of Sookhe Aloo,
where humble potatoes transform
into a crispy masterpiece, a true
reflection of Shekhawati’s culinary
artistry.

bringing a fiery tango to our thali. These
fried green chillies tell a story of bold

KADHI: A RAJASTHANI LEGACY
Finally, the soul-soothing Kadhi, a Rajasthani legend that
has its roots deeply embedded in the heart of this desert
land. In the vast expanse of Rajasthan, Kadhi is more than
just a dish; it’s a legacy passed down through generations.
Originally crafted with makki atta, the essence of Kadhi in
Shekhawati encapsulates the undying spirit of Rajasthan’s
rich culinary history. The infusion of besan over time has
transformed it into the comfort-laden delight we cherish
today. It’s fascinating to witness the evolution, as each
spoonful connects us to the kitchens of our ancestors.
Beyond the borders of Shekhawati, Kadhi takes on
various forms across India, showcasing the country’s
diverse culinary landscape. Different regions have their
unique twists, be it the spicier versions of North India or
the subtly tangy renditions in the South. Yet, in Shekha-
wati, Kadhi remains an unspoken love language, especially
during festive seasons and auspicious occasions. It’s the
dish that binds families, evoking a sense of warmth and
nostalgia with every spoonful.
I love the Kadhi Ratzz prepares, I am a ‘Kadhi-monster’
when it comes to her Khatto! Yes, another name for Kadhi
in Rajasthan.
As we savour each bite of the deli-
cious Shekhawati thali, we’re
not just indulging in a meal,
but partaking in a culinary
legacy that has withstood
the sands of time. The
Shekhawati Thali isn’t
just food; it’s a cele-
bration of tradition,
a journey through
the ages that con-
tinues to resonate
in every bite. In this
flavorful expedition,
let the Shekhawati
Thali weave its magic on
your taste buds.
PANCH MEL DAL: THE
QUINTESSENTIAL BLEND
Enter the Panch Mel Dal, a quint-
essential blend of five different
lentils that adds a nutritious
medley to our thali. It is of-
ten cooked with a blend of
spices, adding rich flavour
and nutrition comes from
its five main ingredients,
lentil varieties offer a
spectrum of textures
and flavors, elevating any
meal, creating a hearty
and nutritious meal. It’s a
gastronomic masterpiece
that showcases Shekhawati’s
love affair with lentils.
RAJASTHANI FOOD FACTS
Rajasthani cuisine is rich and exotic
in both its taste as well as presen-
tation. The unique and delightful
flavors of Rajsthan cuisine are de-
veloped as a result of the scarcity of
water and food grains in this region
like a desert. Still, the people of this
state did not diminish the tastes if
their dishes, in fact, this drawback
intensified it many folds. The Rajas-
thanis have shaped their appetizing
in such a way that their dishes can
be prolonged for many days served
without heating.

  • 4. n terms of GDP rate, India is un- doubtedly at the pinnacle of its economic develop- ment right now, and it’s crucial that it has been able to sustain this rate for an extended period of time. But there are many differ- ent kinds of arguments that might arise from this state- ment, and each interpreta- tion always offers some fresh points of contention. It’s also true that, even with a steadily strong growth rate, India contin- ues to face numerous chal- lenges, both old and new. It is also worth noting that when the Indian economy is credited with jobless growth in economic analy- sis, it surprises the com- mon man but this also has many meanings of its own. For example, the problem of unemployment or the is- sue of increasing employ- ment opportunities has al- ways been prominent in Indian society and Indian economic policies. A re- cent report of the United Nations organization ILO regarding employment in India in 2024 presents many such figures which seem to say that the situa- tion of employment in the country was neither under control in the past nor is it today. If this continues, then this situation will be- come more dire in the fu- ture. This latest report in- cludes a detailed discus- sion on various dimensions of unemployment in the Indian economy. For ex- ample, it has been men- tioned in this report that how much the total num- ber of workers in our soci- ety increased from the year 2000 till now, how many got employment and what was the actual number of unemployment. Along with this, how much the contribution of agriculture sector, manufacturing and service sector increased year after year, how much did they earn and how many people did they em- ploy in the society. Apart from all this, the most interesting thing seen in this report is that the un- employment rate in India has been increasing con- tinuously for some time now and the reason behind this is the increasing popu- lation, but those who are getting employment in In- dia now are not getting full employment opportuni- ties. That is, the percentage of underemployment in India has now become comparatively much high- er than the percentage of unemployment. Due to this, economic inequality is continuously going out of control. From the year 2000 till now, the total number of workers in India has increased by 17 crores, while the number of unem- ployed has increased from 92 lakhs to about 2.5 crores. That is, the rate of unemployment in India has more than doubled in the last 20 years. If we analyse deeper into the fig- ures, then in the year 2000, the rate of unemployment in India was 2.32 percent, in the year 2012, more than one crore people were un- employed in India and dur- ing that time this rate was 2.18 percent and compared to the last decade, unem- ployment was compara- tively less then. During the year 2019, when Corona had not entered, the num- ber of unemployed in India was around 3 crores and then it reached 5.9 percent, which has been the highest rate of this century so far. Then in the year 2022, the total number of unem- ployed was 2.29 crores and the unemployment rate came down to four percent. All this makes it clear that unemployment remains an endless problem in India despite the fact that India is continuously achieving a good economic growth rate. Considering all this it would be appropriate to say that solving the prob- lem of unemployment in India does not seem to be so easy. Another very important to note a detailed aspect of this report and that is that at present the rate of under- employment in India is higher than the rate of un- employment. The general explanation of underem- ployment can be taken in this way that in India, the average work per day is fixed at 8 hours. But at pre- sent, a large section of the population of India is get- ting employment on a dai- ly basis for much less than this fixed time. Some peo- ple are working for five hours, some for three hours or some for even less time, as a result of which the economic income of such persons is very low on a daily basis but they are get- ting employment. Accord- ing to the data, the rate of underemployment was 8.1 percent in men and women in the year 2012, which in- creased to 9 and 9.6 per- cent respectively in the year 2019. However, this rate has decreased in the year 2022 and it is now re- corded at 7.7 percent for men and 7.1% for women. Another aspect which has been given a lot of im- portance in this report is that from the year 2000 till now, 50 to 55% of the total labour force in India is de- pendent on their own ef- forts for employment, which has been placed in the category of self-em- ployed in this report and which can also be consid- ered as self-reliant, which is much discussed in the present times. The figures show that in the year 2000, there were 52.5% people in this category, while in the year 2022, their number has increased to 55.8%. The data of this report also shows that the per- centage of people under regular employment in In- dia has increased continu- ously till the year 2019, but after 2019, a decline has been observed in it. Un- doubtedly, the main reason for this is the layoffs of employees done by every institution during Corona for the purpose of cost con- trol to maintain profitabil- ity. According to the data, in the year 2000, 14.2% of the total workforce in India was in regular employ- ment, while in 2012 their percentage increased to 17.9 and in 2019 it was the maximum of 23.8%, but in 2022 it registered a sig- nificant decline and stood at 21.5%. On other hand, percentage of temporary employees in India is con- tinuously decreasing. THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL TOP TWEETS SPIRITUAL SPEAK For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God. BIBLE SERVICE SECTOR DOMINANCE Aside from all of this, though, it’s also critical to remember that India’s economy has been driven by the service industry since the 1990s. But the primary goal of the 1990s economic reforms was to shift the direction of India’s economic development away from the agriculture sector. But this objective does not seem to have been implemented on the ground with a true purpose. Today, the service sector contributes around 55 per- cent to India’s GDP, but its contribution to employment is comparatively very low and on the contrary, even today a large part of India’s population is dependent on agriculture for employment. Regarding unemployment, there is also a discussion these days that if India’s economy becomes 5 tril- lion, then unemployment will be halved. All these are such thoughts which seem to be very far from ground reality. Now the time has come when economic policies need new reforms in view of employment in agricul- ture sector, manufacturing sector and service sector. Along with this, it is also necessary that if the GDP in the economy continues to grow, then the ac- countability of economic policies should be 100% determined for the growth of employment and per capita income. Otherwise, the growth of GDP will fail to establish a very positive aspect towards economic development. UNEMPLOYMENTSURGES, INCOMESEESDOWNTURN A recent report of the United Nations organization ILO regarding employment in India in 2024 presents many such figures which seem to say that the situation of employment in the country was neither under control in the past nor is it today. If this continues, then this situation will become more dire in the future. This latest report includes a detailed discussion on various dimensions of unemployment in Indian economy. For example, it has been mentioned in this report that how much total number of workers in our society increased from year 2000 till now, how many got employment and what was the actual number of unemployment IN-DEPTH Voter remains sluggish in Phase 2 polls also MAKE THAT CURRY WITHOUT SPICE espite Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ap- peal, sustained awareness campaigns by the Election Commission the voter remained unenthused. The voting percentage remained low in the second phase of polling in some states, notable among them was Kerala, a state where literacy is high and people are much more conscious of exercising their right to franchise than in many other states. Vot- ing for Kerala’s 20 seats fell sharply from 77.84 per- cent in 2019 to 67.15 percent in 2024. In Manipur, where ethnic clashes marred the atmosphere before the polls, the percentage came down from 84.14 per- cent to 77.95 percent. The vote percentage for the total 88 seats in the sec- ond phase was 60.7 percent, down by approximately 9 percent from the 2019 percentage of 69.64. The low voting percentage has left political parties wondering about its implications. Prime Minister Nar- endra Modi, though, predicted NDA’s victory. “Phase Two has been too good. Gratitude to the people across India who have voted today,” he posted on X. D ollowing discoveries by Hong Kong’s Cen- tre for Food Safety and Singapore authori- ties of carcinogenic substances in four products of MDH and Everest brands of Indian spices, both countries imposed bans on select spice mixes from India.Additionally, the European Union has raised alarms over contamination in more than 500 food products, including the two spice brands. Ethylene oxide (ETO) has emerged as the common culprit, detected in trace amounts. The Food Stand- ards Authority of India (FSSAI) has to share the blame for perceived laxity for the recent ban on spices in the two countries. Responding to these revelations, the Indian govern- ment has mandated testing of export- bound products for ETO. The Spices Board of India has also made testing mandatory for con- signments headed for Singapore and Hong Kong. Previously, Nes- tle’s Cerelac baby food was found to exceed WHO pre- scribed sugar limits in India. Regarding MDH and Everest, renowned Indian brands, it remains unclear whether similarly taint- ed products are circulating in the domestic market. The situation underscores the urgent need for strin- gent regulatory measures and monitoring to safe- guard public health and restore consumer confi- dence in Indian food products and bring spice back to the curry. The ban in Singapore and Hong Kong will erode domestic consumers’ confidence in the system. By Tridib Raman The author is a journalist and political commentator and views expressed are his personal FIRST INDIA SUNDAY SPECIAL Mirch Masala BJP TRYING TO PACIFY ALLIANCE PARTNERS IN MAHARASHTRA! hese days, BJP is busy making its strategy regarding Maha- rashtra. Sources say that BJP’s ground surveys in Maharashtra shows that the position of BJP candidates in the field is very good, but due to the alliance, the candidates of Ajit Pawar or Shinde’s party are facing tough competition. In many surveys, such claims have been made on some seats of these candi- dates. The much-discussed Baramati parliamentary seat, from where Ajit Pa- war’s wife Sunetra Pawar is contesting, is facing a tough challenge from Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule. Only after this, the BJP leadership asked both Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde to get some of their candidates to contest the elections on the lotus symbol. But both these leaders are not able to accept this proposal of BJP. The BJP leadership has clearly told both these leaders that wherever BJP does not have its own candidates, the BJP cadre is not able to come out openly in support of the candi- dates of its alliance partners. T or some time, JJP leader Du- shyant Chauta- la was trying to meet his grandfather and former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala. Recently, Dushyant got success in his efforts and he came to Delhi with his brother Digvijay to meet his grandfa- ther. It is said that in this meeting, Dushyant repeatedly urged his grandfather that ‘now the time has come that the Chautala family should unite and for this our political party should also be united.’ It is reported that Om Prakash Chautala said on this proposal, “I am ready to accept JJP as my party, but I have only one condition that the leader of this party will be Abhay Chautala.” Obviously Dushyant did not accept this propos- al, things did not work out and he returned back to Haryana. F he real strategy of Sangh Parivar and BJP is being made regarding UP. Underlining its chances of victory, BJP has divided the entire UP into three zones. The first zone is ‘Yellow’ i.e. such seats are part of this ‘zone’ where BJP is registering a comfortable victory and no other party is in competition on these seats. Most of the seats in Uttar Pradesh are falling in this zone. The second zone is ‘Green’ where BJP is facing competition from rival candidates. And the third zone is ‘Red’. While the BJP is facing a tough fight from its rivals, some of the key seats in the ‘Red Zone’ are - Mainpuri, Moradabad, Kannauj, Badayun, Muzaffarnagar, Sambhal, Pilibhit, Rampur, Shravasti, Basti, Ambed- kar Nagar, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Lalganj, Ghazipur, Ghosi, Machlishahr, Kaushambi and Barabanki. n Karnataka, ever since JDS has joined hands with BJP, the Muslim vote bank there has been inclined towards Congress. Before now, Muslim votes were divided between Congress and JDS, but on the other hand, Hindu votes are united towards BJP. If sources are to be believed, the anger of the Muslims of the state towards JDS has in- creased only after the Danish Ali episode. Danish Ali, who was considered very close to JDS chief HD Deve Gowda, was firmly supported by the latter in getting him a BSP ticket in 2019 for which Deve Gowda him- self spoke to Mayawati. But when BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri in Parliament made some indecent remarks on Danish Ali regarding his community, no statement of Deve Gowda came out in defense of Danish. Due to which the Muslims of Karnataka became very angry with Deve Gowda. Congress has also attacked Vokkaliga, the core vote bank of JDS. State Congress Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is a Vokkaliga of the same caste as Deve Gowda. DK is very vocal for the Vokkaliga community. Due to this also, division of Vokkaliga votes has become possible in these elec- tions. Congress hopes that it will get the votes of the Vokkaliga community in bulk in these elections.
