SHEKHAWAT SAYS WHILE INAUGURATING VIKAS BHARAT SANKALP YATRA...
‘Oppn trying to divide nation on caste, religion’
Gajendra Singh Shekhawat being felicitated by his supporters after
inauguration of Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra, Jodhpur on Saturday.

Targeting the Congress,
Union Jal Shakti Minis-
ter Gajendra Singh Shek-
hawat alleged that the
Opposition was trying to
divide the country based
on caste and religion.
He said there are only
four essential castes in
India – women, youth,
farmers, and the poor.
Shekhawat highlighted
the Modi government’s
commitment to the de-
velopment of these seg-
ments. He expressed op-
timism that progress
would accelerate with a
double engine govt in
place at the state level.
Speaking at the inau-
gural ceremony of Vikas
Bharat Sankalp Yatra at
CAZRI campus in Jodh-
pur, Shekhawat criticized
the opposition for creat-
ing divisions in society
along caste and religious
lines. Modi’s perspec-
tive, as mentioned by
Shekhawat, identifies the
four key castes as wom-
en, youth, farmers, and
the poor. Farmers, in par-
ticular, were praised for
their role in making India
a leading global producer
of food grains, milk, and
vegetables, he said.
He said that this Yatra
would disseminate info
about the central govt
schemes, reaching the
deserving beneficiaries
through mobile units.
Highlighting impact
of the government
schemes, Shekhawat
stated that 13.5 crore
people rose above the

Lakshmi Mandir Tiraha
underpass on Tonk Road,
which was aimed at eas-
ing traffic congestion, has
become a cause of prob-
lem for drivers as it has
failed to address the pur-
pose for which it was con-
structed by the Congress
government.
Constructed by the
Jaipur Development Au-
thority at a cost of approx-
imately Rs 65 crore, the
underpass from Lalkothi
vegetable market towards
Tonk Road was inaugu-
rated on September 21.
The underpass was
constructed for making
the Tiraha traffic signal-
free, granting drivers res-
pite from stopping at sig-
nals. However, this relief
has been marred by traffic
jamsatotherpoints,creat-
ing a set of challenges.
One side of the under-
pass witnesses traffic bot-
tlenecks, primarily due to
the narrow road between
Tonk Phatak Railway
Overbridge and Barkat
Nagar. The road connects
Bajaj Nagar throughTonk
Phatak railway crossing,
leading to frequent traffic
jams. JDA’s attempts to
address the issue by seek-
ing to acquire approxi-
mately 1300 square me-
ters of railway land adja-
cent to the overbridge
faced resistance from the
Railways, complicating
the resolution.
Additionally, drivers
using the entry of the un-
derpass from Sahkar road
encounter traffic jams, es-
pecially during evenings.
The widened road from
Sahakar Marg to the un-
derpass, flanked by the
Lal Kothi vegetable mar-
ket, faces challenges from
Thadi vendors and hap-
hazardly parked vehicles.
Despite efforts by JDA
and traffic police to curb
encroachments and park-
ing irregularities, the lack
of robust enforcement has
hinderedapropercompre-
hensive solution.

The Jaipur Development
Authority (JDA) has tem-
porarily halted its deci-
sion regarding the reduc-
tion of the minimum size
for townships on the out-
skirts of the capital. The
proposed change, allow-
ing townships to be devel-
oped on 5 hectares instead
of the current 10, had
sparked debate and re-
ceived objections.
JDAinitiated this move
through a notification on
February 27, seeking al-
terations to the criteria for
township development on
the outskirts of the Ring
Road and along National
Highways in Jaipur. The
proposed changes aimed
to relax existing norms,
considering the demand
for smaller townships on
narrower roads in these
areas. The JDA region
falling within the scope of
the master plan applicable
till the year 2025 has been
divided into Urbanizable
Area U1, Urbanizable
Area U2 and Urbanizable
Area U3.
The core area of the
city has been marked as
U1, the outskirts of the
Ring Road as U2 and the
areas on both sides of the
national highways as U3.
Strict provisions have
been made in the regula-
tions of the Master Plan
for township develop-
ment in U2 and U3. Ac-
cording to this, only big
townships can be created
on wider roads in these
areas but JDA had issued
this notification to seek
objections and sugges-
tions for changing these
provisions.
The proposed amend-
ments suggested a mini-
mum township size of 5
hectares, down from 10,
and a reduction in the
minimum road width re-
quired for township de-
velopment from 30 to 24
meters.Additionally, pro-
visions were introduced
for townships within the
radius of populated areas
in U2 and U3, subject to
certain conditions.
However, objections
and suggestions poured in
followingthenotification,
prompting the formation
of a committee chaired by
JDA Secretary Nalini
Kathotiya. The commit-
tee recommended legal
scrutiny, leading to the
sought-after opinion from
Additional Advocate
General Manish Singhvi.
Singhvi’s legal opinion
emphasized that JDA’s
proposed changes
amounted to a modifica-
tion of the master plan, a
process requiring approv-
al and adherence to legal
procedures.

BJP state president CP

gress of engaging in ex-
tensive corruption in Ra-
jasthan over the past five
years, asserting that their
focus is solely on accu-
mulating wealth.
Joshi, addressing a

targeted the Congress

Congress MP Dheeraj

Highlighting the case
of Dheeraj Sahu, Joshi
claimed that the exposed

other Cong leaders, sug-
gesting widespread cor-
ruption within the party.
He noted that Congress

comfort when investiga-
tions target the party.
Joshi also referred to
the allegations of Ashok
Gehlot’s Office of Special
Duty (OSD) Lokesh
Sharma saying that the
OSD has attributed the
defeat of Congress in Ra-
jasthan to Gehlot.
When asked about the
BJP legislature party
meeting, Joshi stated that
observers have been ap-

the meeting will be com-
municated soon. Reacting
to Ashok Gehlot’s state-

LIVE-IN RELATIONS
UNACCEPTABLE TO
PATRIARCHAL MIND
ociety has failed to come out of the patriar-
chal mindset to look at man-woman relation-
ships which have changed with time. Under-
standably, it is difficult to accept relations which do
not conform to the established norms. Haryana BJP
MP Dharambir Singh calling live-in relationships a
dangerous disease is symptomatic of the mindset
many people have. Rajasthan Human Rights chief,
Justice (retired) Mahesh Chandra Sharma expressed
a stronger view in 2019 when described women in
live-in relationships as “concubines”. He went on to
say that such “animalistic lives are against the basic
rights enshrined in the constitution and against their
human rights.” In October this year Justices Rahul
Chaturvedi and Mohd Azhar Husain Idrisi of the Al-
lahabad High Court observed that live-in relation was
more out of infatuation than sincerity.
The freedom of choice and the changing face of
Indian women are given scarce thought. Society for-
gets ugly acts of violence against women who opt for
the institution of marriage.

crore. The cash was found stacked in 156 gunny bags.
It’s a mind-boggling figure for the poor and middle
class families. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has
flayed the Congress for the loot and said that they will
have to give back every penny. The party also came

iven the fast-
pace of our
world today,
India’s loss
in the ODI
World Cup final seems like
a long time ago but in real-
ity, it’s not even a month
since the ‘tragedy’. In a
country where fans cele-
brate cricket victories like
festivals and treat losses
like catastrophes, the 4-1
T20 series win over Aus-
tralia worked as a soothing
balm to the burns of the
World Cup. Now, India is
all set for another T20 se-
ries in South Africa, their
second-last in the format
before the T20 World Cup
in June next year. Time is
of essence as the team pre-
pares for another challenge
in search of an elusive ICC
title but with many star
players absent, the young-
sters have a great opportu-
nity to shine and leave a
mark on the international
stage!
The Men in Blue have
already reached South Af-
rica for the series and inter-
estingly have separate team
captains for each format.
The T20s team will be led
by Suryakumar Yadav as
Hardik Pandya is still re-
covering from his ankle
injury sustained during the
World Cup. Surya was in
sublime form in the series
versusAustralia and led the
team well through difficult
phases in many games.
K.L.Rahul has been ap-
pointed the captain for the
ODI series and Rohit Shar-
ma will be back as the cap-
tain in the Test matches.
All eyes will be on the
young guns of Indian crick-
et to showcase their prow-
ess and cement their places
for the upcoming T20
World Cup. Even in the se-
ries against Australia, India
selected many fresh faces
who delivered in pressure
situations. One of them is
Rinku Singh, whose IPL
exploits have put him in the
limelight. He has shown his
calibreinthelimitedmatch-
es that he has played so far.
His crucial 22 of 14 balls
won India the first match of
the series while chasing
209. Even in the second
match his 31 of just 9 balls
helped India set up a mam-
moth 235 batting first.
Besides Rinku, another
player who must have im-
pressed the selectors was
Jitesh Sharma. Playing his
first game, he hit an im-
pressive knock of 35 in
19-balls in Raipur. Then in
the final match of the se-
ries he scored a 16-ball 24
helping India post a par
score on a challenging
pitch. They were ably sup-
ported by Yashavi Jaiswal,
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Is-
han Kishan at the top of the
order. Though the trio have
been in and out of the side,
they have performed well
and look certain to be in
the World Cup team.
While India was clinical
with the bat, their fast-
bowling resources, in the
absence of Bumrah, Shami
and Siraj was paltry. This
is probably one area where
the Indian team needs more
boxes ticked. Arshdeep
Singh and Prasidh Krishna
in particular were often
taken to the cleaners by
Aussie batsmen and in the
third match, where Aus-
tralia chased down the tar-
get of 223, Indian fast
bowlers were punished se-
verely. Though Mukesh
Kumar with his fine con-
trol over line and length did
manage to find some suc-
cess, it may not be enough
for him to seal a spot in the
playing 11 once the first-
choice pacers are back.
Not all was bleak for In-
dian bowling in the series
as Ravi Bishnoi and Axar
Patel showed that spin still
has an important role to
play in the shortest format.
Bishnoi in fact, ended up
with 9 wickets and rose to
number 1 among bowlers
in T20 rankings after the
series. Both the spinners
picked up wickets at vital
moments in the game and
kept the economy rate un-
der check as well. With
Yuzvenda Chahal hardly
appearing to be in the se-
lectors’ scheme of things
in the T20s, Bishnoi has
almost cemented his spot
in the T20 team. As India
now looks to topple South
Africa in their home condi-
tions, the inexperience of
the players on the fast,
bouncy pitches is a matter
of grave concern.

MORE ABOUT
INDIA TEAM
Not many teams have
been able to beat South
Africa at home. In such a
scenario, Indian batters will
have to adapt quickly as
India plays its first game
on Sunday without much
time for acclimatisation
to local conditions.
The crucial part of the tour
will also be the Test leg
when Team India will be
bolstered by the presence
of its superstars, especially
Virat Kohli and Rohit
Sharma. With the World
Test Championship cycle
also in progress, it will be
a special challenge for the
Indian team to accumulate
important points.
History also stands
against them as India
has never won a Test
series in South Africa.
With the increasingly
busy international cricket
schedule, the cricketing
world awaits the upcoming
contest to see if the Indian
team can script a new
narrative in a terrain that
has usually proved
tricky for them!

In an address at the an-

“India showed that
there is no irreconcilable

That means providing

can be achieved simulta-

“The government is

the government cannot
do this work alone. For
that we also need the sup-

Singh said there the in-

“If India is the growth

wealth creators and

“Therefore, there is a
special responsibility on
all of you to help the gov-

from the engine to the

He referred to the gov-

have done infrastructure
development in far-flung
areas in India, the way
we have laid a network of

“Moving on from the

Indian batting looked
clueless and out of depth
to be dismissed for their
third lowest total as Eng-
land notched up a four-
wicket win in the second
women’s T20I to take an
unassailable 2-0 lead in
the three-match series
here on Saturday.
On a day uncapped In-
dian cricketers won fat
pay-cheques in the Wom-
en’s Premier League
(WPL) auction, Shafali
Verma (0), Smriti Mand-
hana (10), skipper Har-
manpreet Kaur (9), Deep-
ti Sharma (0) cut a sorry
figure as India were shot
out for 80 in 16.2 overs.
In reply, England can-
tered home in 11.2 overs
to take an unassailable
2-0 lead in the three-
match series. The final
T20I is slated on Sunday.
In defence of their
paltry 80, India had a
horror start with a way-
ward Renuka Singh
leaking eight runs in
four wide deliveries.
Sophia Dunkley then
took the attack on inexpe-
rienced Bengal seamer Ti-
tas Sidhu with two bound-
aries as England raced to
17 runs in first two overs.
Renuka returned to
take two wickets — So-
phia (9) and Danni Wyatt
(0) — but with no score-
board pressure Alice
Capsey (25; 21b) and Nat
Sciver-Brunt (16; 13b)
seized the momentum
with their counter-attack-
ing display to take them
past 50-run mark inside
seven overs. But the duo
failed to take the team
home as India managed
to take two wickets with
seven runs needed.
Deepti sharma took
two in as many deliveries
— Amy Jones and Freya
Kemp — but it didn’t
matter as Sophie Eccle-
stone (9) clinched the
series with a four. Their
match aggregate of 162
runs was also the lowest
involving the two teams.
For India, Jemimah
Rodrigues was the lone
bright spot with a 33-
ball 30, and one of the
two batters to get into
double digit scores, in a
bizarre display by the
Indian batters.
That all their top-four

BUREAUCRATIC TALES
WHAT WILL NOW HAPPEN TO ADVISORS TO CHIEF MINISTER?
Rajendra Chhabra
Jaipur
ith a change in
government, it
is believed that
the three bureaucratic ad-
visors to CM Ashok Ge-
hlot will also be changed.
These are Arvind Ma-
yaram, Govind Sharma
and Niranjan Arya.
Arvind Mayaram and
Govind Sharma were ap-
pointed as advisors
through an official order
of DoP dated December
21, 2018, right after the
Congress government
was formed, whereas
Niranjan Arya was ap-
pointed as advisor to CM
on December 31, 2022.
They were given salary,
office, staff, car and bun-
galow, although they did
not take salaries.
Arvinda Mayaram and
Niranjan Arya had offic-
es in Yojna Bhawan
while Govind Sharma
had office in the main
building of Secretariat.
Niranjan Arya was allot-
ted a huge bungalow at
Hawa Sadak of Jaipur.
Arvind was appointed
as Chief EconomicAdvi-
sor to CM. It is a matter
of enquiry as to what his
usability and achieve-
ments were in the five
years, but during this
time he was embroiled in
controversies and made
headlines too. When in
January 2022, CBI raid
was conducted at institu-
tions associated with
him, it made national
headlines. The second
time he courted contro-
versy was when he
joined Rahul Gandhi’s
Bharat Jodo Yatra. He
was present in Congress’
rally atAlwar. Moreover,
Arvind stayed less in
Jaipur and more in Delhi
for the five years.
Although Govind
Sharma’s appointed or-
der did not mention as to
the matter on which he
would advise CM, but he
was extremely busy in
work surrounding Bar-
mer refinery. He came
seldom to his office in
the Secretariat, but he
toured Barmer several
times for refinery pro-
ject. He took immense
interest in this work.
NiranjanArya’s retire-
ment made various cir-
cles suspect that as advi-
sor, he would advise CM
on the day to day work-
ing of the state govern-
ment while sitting in
CMO. But he was given
an office in Yojna Bha-
wan, away from the Sec-
retariat. It was told infor-
mally that Arya would
work on improving the
bureaucratic system and
bettering the service de-
livery of flagship
schemes and projects of
the state government.
However, it is difficult to
fully assess how much
work did he do in this
aspect, but it is well
known that Arya forego
his responsibility of ad-
visor and picked up the
begul for Congress poli-
tics. He spent months in
Sojat to prepare for as-
sembly election and
when he was given Con-
gress’ ticket, he worked
day and night to win the
election, although he lost
by a huge margin.
Apart from these
three, a retired IAS GS
Sandhu was also made
advisor to government,
however, he was ap-
pointed as advisor to
UDH department and not
CM. He too was provid-
ed with staff, office and
car. He spent most of his
time in Prashasan
Shehro/Gaon Ke Sang
campaign. These four
men were appointed ‘till
further orders’ and the
process of their removal
is not final as of now.
However, Gehlot gov-
ernment’s Advocate
General Mahendra Sing-
hvi and advisor in Vidyut
Bhawan AK Gupta have
suo-moto resigned after
the election results came.

Congress’s defeat in the
assembly elections. After
this, the leaders of Ra-

task to prepare for the
Lok Sabha elections. On
Saturday, Rahul Gandhi

talked in detail about the
reasons for the defeat.
The conflict with the

After the meeting, Con-

Randhawa denied the res-
ignations of the state in-

better. Apart from Rahul
Gandhi and Kharge,
Ashok Gehlot, Govind

After the Assembly elec-

in the Lok Sabha elec-
tions also. BJP will de-
ploy its army of workers
in the ‘Viksit Bharat

Central Government.
Through this yatra, the
party has once again
planned to mobilize the
workers up to the booth

this yatra will be ‘Modi’s
Guarantee Vehicle’.
Regarding the yatra,
BJPNational President JP
Nadda has held discus-
sions with the MLAs and
party officials of Madhya

Chhattisgarh and as-
signed them the task.
In the meeting, Nation-
al General Secretary
Sunil Bansal said that the
people have accepted
Modi’s guarantee in the
elections of all three
states and therefore, spe-
cial focus is being given
on Modi’s guarantee. He
informed that data of
beneficiaries of the Cen-
tral Government will be

gible person is found de-
prived of the Central

ing the yatra, they will
also be added to the list
of beneficiaries by pro-

schemes, he said.

Along with consulta-
tions with the newly-
elected MLAs, the
liking and disliking
of RSS will also be
given a top priority
while finalising the
name of new chief
minister of Rajasthan.
The BJP has given the
task of the exercise to
select the CM to the
three observers.
While Union Minis-
ter Rajnath Singh will
play the key role in
this, Vinod Tawde
and Saroj Pandey
have also been given
different tasks.
If sources are to be
believed, the BJP has
tasked Vinod Tawde to
hold discussions with
the State’s RSS lead-
ership and directly re-
port the same to the
party high command.
As Tawde has an RSS
background, it is be-
lieved that before dis-
cussions with the
MLAs, the party
would try to know the
liking and disliking of
RSS office-bearers.
MIFFED OVER RAJ RESULTS RaGa SLAMS LEADERS
Rahul Gandhi looked very angry at AICC’s meeting
related to Rajasthan and refused to listen to anyone’s
explanation in meeting. On contrary, he told this to the
Rajasthan leadership, “In 4 days, please give us your sugges-
tions on how to win Lok Sabha elections on 25 Lok Sabha
seats in Rajasthan?” Interestingly, there is a big reason for
Rahul Gandhi’s displeasure. It is said that Rahul wanted to
give at least 50 tickets based on independent report and the
word that tickets for new faces will be given by cutting the
tickets of 50 existing MLAs. But he could not do so and the
result was that the game was lost. Rahul Gandhi had to bow
down to the insistence of big leaders of Rajasthan. Rahul was
angry with ticket distribution. Yogesh Sharma

After AICC meeting to

Rajasthan Congress In-

Randhawa said that there
was a long discussion in
the meeting. There is
very little difference be-
tween our vote share and
the votes polled in BJP's
favor. Many of our candi-
dates have lost by very
less votes. There are such
candidates also whose
difference is less than
1500. All of these issues
were discussed. We have
told them from today it-
self that we will prepare

our shortcomings remain,
we will counter them. We
will fight the elections
unitedly. The entire Con-
gress was united in the
assembly elections. Our
booth level or divisional

Congress workers also
worked very hard. Our
leaders have also said that
preparations for Lok Sab-

n the realm of professional attire, the official blazer stands
as an iconic symbol of sophistication, authority, and sarto-
rial excellence. From boardrooms to business events, this
wardrobe staple has transcended its utilitarian roots to be-
come a versatile and powerful statement piece. Let’s delve
into the world of official blazers and explore the reasons
behind their enduring popularity.
At the heart of the official blazer’s appeal lies its impeccable tailoring.
Crafted with precision, these jackets are designed to enhance the wearer’s
silhouette, exuding a sense of confidence and professionalism. The tailored
fit ensures a polished look that effortlessly commands attention.
Blazers are a cornerstone of versatile dressing whether
paired with tailored trousers, a pencil skirt, or even denim
for a smart-casual look, these jackets seamlessly transi-
tion from the office to after-hours engagements, mak-
ing them a go-to choice for professionals on the move.
The design of official blazers has stood the test of
time. Classic elements such as notched lapels, struc-
tured shoulders, and a single-breasted silhouette con-
tribute to a timeless aesthetic that remains relevant
across seasons and trends. Investing in a quality
blazer is akin to investing in enduring style.
Beyond aesthetics, official blazers carry a psy-
chological impact. The act of donning a well-fit-
ted blazer can instil a sense of empowerment,
boosting confidence and projecting an air of
competence. In the professional arena, attire is
a tool for self-expression and asserting author-
ity, and the official blazer excels in this role.
The choice of fabric plays a crucial role in the
versatility and comfort of official blazers. While
wool blends are popular for their durability and
warmth, lightweight options like cotton or linen
are favoured in warmer climates. The selection
of quality materials adds to the overall refinement
of the garment.
The blazers offer room for personalization, al-
lowing individuals to express their style within the
confines of professional dress codes. From subtle
pinstripes to unique buttons and lapel pins, these per-
sonalized touches can make a statement without com-
promising sophistication.
While rooted in tradition, official blazers also adapt to con-
temporary trends. Designers experiment with colours, textures,
and cuts, introducing modern elements that resonate with a new
generation of professionals seeking both style and substance in
their workwear.
The official blazer stands as a symbol of refined professionalism,
combining tailored precision with timeless style. Beyond its aes-
thetic appeal, this wardrobe essential empowers individuals in the
workplace, offering a versatile canvas for personal expression. As
trends evolve, the official blazer continues to hold its ground, proving
that in the world of fashion, true elegance knows no age. Elevate your
professional wardrobe, and let the official blazer become your signa-
ture of style and success.

Constructed by the Jaipur Development Au- thority at a cost of approx- imately Rs 65 crore, the underpass from Lalkothi vegetable market towards Tonk Road was inaugu- rated on September 21. The underpass was constructed for making the Tiraha traffic signal- free, granting drivers res- pite from stopping at sig- nals. However, this relief has been marred by traffic jamsatotherpoints,creat- ing a set of challenges. One side of the under- pass witnesses traffic bot- tlenecks, primarily due to the narrow road between Tonk Phatak Railway Overbridge and Barkat Nagar. The road connects Bajaj Nagar throughTonk Phatak railway crossing, leading to frequent traffic jams. JDA’s attempts to address the issue by seek- ing to acquire approxi- mately 1300 square me- ters of railway land adja- cent to the overbridge faced resistance from the Railways, complicating the resolution. Additionally, drivers using the entry of the un- derpass from Sahkar road encounter traffic jams, es- pecially during evenings. First India Bureau Jaipur The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has tem- porarily halted its deci- sion regarding the reduc- tion of the minimum size for townships on the out- skirts of the capital. The proposed change, allow- ing townships to be devel- oped on 5 hectares instead of the current 10, had sparked debate and re- ceived objections. JDAinitiated this move through a notification on February 27, seeking al- terations to the criteria for township development on the outskirts of the Ring Road and along National Highways in Jaipur. The proposed changes aimed to relax existing norms, considering the demand for smaller townships on narrower roads in these areas. The JDA region falling within the scope of the master plan applicable till the year 2025 has been divided into Urbanizable Area U1, Urbanizable Area U2 and Urbanizable Area U3. The core area of the city has been marked as U1, the outskirts of the Ring Road as U2 and the areas on both sides of the national highways as U3. Strict provisions have been made in the regula- tions of the Master Plan for township develop- ment in U2 and U3. Ac- cording to this, only big townships can be created on wider roads in these areas but JDA had issued this notification to seek objections and sugges- tions for changing these provisions. The proposed amend- ments suggested a mini- mum township size of 5 hectares, down from 10, and a reduction in the minimum road width re- quired for township de- velopment from 30 to 24 meters.Additionally, pro- visions were introduced for townships within the radius of populated areas in U2 and U3, subject to certain conditions. However, objections and suggestions poured in followingthenotification, prompting the formation of a committee chaired by JDA Secretary Nalini Kathotiya. The commit- tee recommended legal scrutiny, leading to the sought-after opinion from Additional Advocate General Manish Singhvi. Singhvi’s legal opinion emphasized that JDA’s proposed changes amounted to a modifica- tion of the master plan, a process requiring approv- al and adherence to legal procedures. Under- standably, it is difficult to accept relations which do not conform to the established norms. Haryana BJP MP Dharambir Singh calling live-in relationships a dangerous disease is symptomatic of the mindset many people have. Rajasthan Human Rights chief, Justice (retired) Mahesh Chandra Sharma expressed a stronger view in 2019 when described women in live-in relationships as “concubines”. He went on to say that such “animalistic lives are against the basic rights enshrined in the constitution and against their human rights.” In October this year Justices Rahul Chaturvedi and Mohd Azhar Husain Idrisi of the Al- lahabad High Court observed that live-in relation was more out of infatuation than sincerity. In a country where fans cele- brate cricket victories like festivals and treat losses like catastrophes, the 4-1 T20 series win over Aus- tralia worked as a soothing balm to the burns of the World Cup. Now, India is all set for another T20 se- ries in South Africa, their second-last in the format before the T20 World Cup in June next year. Time is of essence as the team pre- pares for another challenge in search of an elusive ICC title but with many star players absent, the young- sters have a great opportu- nity to shine and leave a mark on the international stage! The Men in Blue have already reached South Af- rica for the series and inter- estingly have separate team captains for each format. The T20s team will be led by Suryakumar Yadav as Hardik Pandya is still re- covering from his ankle injury sustained during the World Cup. Surya was in sublime form in the series versusAustralia and led the team well through difficult phases in many games. K.L.Rahul has been ap- pointed the captain for the ODI series and Rohit Shar- ma will be back as the cap- tain in the Test matches. All eyes will be on the young guns of Indian crick- et to showcase their prow- ess and cement their places for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Even in the se- ries against Australia, India selected many fresh faces who delivered in pressure situations. One of them is Rinku Singh, whose IPL exploits have put him in the limelight. He has shown his calibreinthelimitedmatch- es that he has played so far. His crucial 22 of 14 balls won India the first match of the series while chasing 209. Even in the second match his 31 of just 9 balls helped India set up a mam- moth 235 batting first. Besides Rinku, another player who must have im- pressed the selectors was Jitesh Sharma. Playing his first game, he hit an im- pressive knock of 35 in 19-balls in Raipur. Then in the final match of the se- ries he scored a 16-ball 24 helping India post a par score on a challenging pitch. They were ably sup- ported by Yashavi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Is- han Kishan at the top of the order. Though the trio have been in and out of the side, they have performed well and look certain to be in the World Cup team. While India was clinical with the bat, their fast- bowling resources, in the absence of Bumrah, Shami and Siraj was paltry. This is probably one area where the Indian team needs more boxes ticked. Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna in particular were often taken to the cleaners by Aussie batsmen and in the third match, where Aus- tralia chased down the tar- get of 223, Indian fast bowlers were punished se- verely. Though Mukesh Kumar with his fine con- trol over line and length did manage to find some suc- cess, it may not be enough for him to seal a spot in the playing 11 once the first- choice pacers are back. Not all was bleak for In- dian bowling in the series as Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel showed that spin still has an important role to play in the shortest format. Bishnoi in fact, ended up with 9 wickets and rose to number 1 among bowlers in T20 rankings after the series. Both the spinners picked up wickets at vital moments in the game and kept the economy rate un- der check as well. With Yuzvenda Chahal hardly appearing to be in the se- lectors’ scheme of things in the T20s, Bishnoi has almost cemented his spot in the T20 team. As India now looks to topple South Africa in their home condi- tions, the inexperience of the players on the fast, bouncy pitches is a matter of grave concern. THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL MORE ABOUT INDIA TEAM Not many teams have been able to beat South Africa at home. In such a scenario, Indian batters will have to adapt quickly as India plays its first game on Sunday without much time for acclimatisation to local conditions. The crucial part of the tour will also be the Test leg when Team India will be bolstered by the presence of its superstars, especially Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. With the World Test Championship cycle also in progress, it will be a special challenge for the Indian team to accumulate important points. History also stands against them as India has never won a Test series in South Africa. With the increasingly busy international cricket schedule, the cricketing world awaits the upcoming contest to see if the Indian team can script a new narrative in a terrain that has usually proved tricky for them! • 9. BUREAUCRATIC TALES WHAT WILL NOW HAPPEN TO ADVISORS TO CHIEF MINISTER? Rajendra Chhabra Jaipur ith a change in government, it is believed that the three bureaucratic ad- visors to CM Ashok Ge- hlot will also be changed. These are Arvind Ma- yaram, Govind Sharma and Niranjan Arya. Arvind Mayaram and Govind Sharma were ap- pointed as advisors through an official order of DoP dated December 21, 2018, right after the Congress government was formed, whereas Niranjan Arya was ap- pointed as advisor to CM on December 31, 2022. They were given salary, office, staff, car and bun- galow, although they did not take salaries. Arvinda Mayaram and Niranjan Arya had offic- es in Yojna Bhawan while Govind Sharma had office in the main building of Secretariat. Niranjan Arya was allot- ted a huge bungalow at Hawa Sadak of Jaipur. Arvind was appointed as Chief EconomicAdvi- sor to CM. It is a matter of enquiry as to what his usability and achieve- ments were in the five years, but during this time he was embroiled in controversies and made headlines too. When in January 2022, CBI raid was conducted at institu- tions associated with him, it made national headlines. The second time he courted contro- versy was when he joined Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. He was present in Congress’ rally atAlwar. Moreover, Arvind stayed less in Jaipur and more in Delhi for the five years. Although Govind Sharma’s appointed or- der did not mention as to the matter on which he would advise CM, but he was extremely busy in work surrounding Bar- mer refinery. He came seldom to his office in the Secretariat, but he toured Barmer several times for refinery pro- ject. He took immense interest in this work. NiranjanArya’s retire- ment made various cir- cles suspect that as advi- sor, he would advise CM on the day to day work- ing of the state govern- ment while sitting in CMO. But he was given an office in Yojna Bha- wan, away from the Sec- retariat. It was told infor- mally that Arya would work on improving the bureaucratic system and bettering the service de- livery of flagship schemes and projects of the state government. However, it is difficult to fully assess how much work did he do in this aspect, but it is well known that Arya forego his responsibility of ad- visor and picked up the begul for Congress poli- tics. He spent months in Sojat to prepare for as- sembly election and when he was given Con- gress’ ticket, he worked day and night to win the election, although he lost by a huge margin. Apart from these three, a retired IAS GS Sandhu was also made advisor to government, however, he was ap- pointed as advisor to UDH department and not CM. He too was provid- ed with staff, office and car. He spent most of his time in Prashasan Shehro/Gaon Ke Sang campaign. These four men were appointed ‘till further orders’ and the process of their removal is not final as of now. However, Gehlot gov- ernment’s Advocate General Mahendra Sing- hvi and advisor in Vidyut Bhawan AK Gupta have suo-moto resigned after the election results came. After this, the leaders of Ra- jasthan were given the task to prepare for the Lok Sabha elections. On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge talked in detail about the reasons for the defeat. The conflict with the seats lost by a small mar- gin was also discussed. After the meeting, Con- gress state in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Rand- hawa said, “From today we will start preparing for the Lok Sabha elections.” Randhawa denied the res- ignations of the state in- charge and the state pres- ident and argued that the performance of Congress in Rajasthan has been better. Apart from Rahul Gandhi and Kharge, Ashok Gehlot, Govind Singh Dotasra, Sachin Pi- lot, CP Joshi, Bhanwar Jitendra Singh and Go- vind Meghwal were pre- sent in the meeting. Pankaj Soni Jaipur After the Assembly elec- tions, Modi’s guarantee will continue to be BJP’s electoral ‘Branhmastra’ in the Lok Sabha elec- tions also. BJP will de- ploy its army of workers in the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’run by the Central Government. Through this yatra, the party has once again planned to mobilize the workers up to the booth level. The attraction of this yatra will be ‘Modi’s Guarantee Vehicle’. Regarding the yatra, BJPNational President JP Nadda has held discus- sions with the MLAs and party officials of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh and as- signed them the task. In the meeting, Nation- al General Secretary Sunil Bansal said that the people have accepted Modi’s guarantee in the elections of all three states and therefore, spe- cial focus is being given on Modi’s guarantee. He informed that data of beneficiaries of the Cen- tral Government will be prepared till Gram Pan- chayats level. If any eli- gible person is found de- prived of the Central Government scheme dur- ing the yatra, they will also be added to the list of beneficiaries by pro- viding the benefits of the schemes, he said. ANI Jaipur Ahead of crucial meeting to evaluate party’s per- formance in recent Ra- jasthan polls, Congress leader Ashok Gehlot on Saturday criticized the BJP’s delay in announc- ing CM faces for three Hindi heartland states -- Madhya Pradesh, Chhat- tisgarh and Rajasthan, saying that “there is no discipline in this party.” “There is no discipline in this party. If we had done the same, I don’t know what allegations they would have levelled against us misled peo- ple. They polarized polls. We will cooperate with the new govt,” he said. Pankaj Soni Jaipur Along with consulta- tions with the newly- elected MLAs, the liking and disliking of RSS will also be given a top priority while finalising the name of new chief minister of Rajasthan. The BJP has given the task of the exercise to select the CM to the three observers. While Union Minis- ter Rajnath Singh will play the key role in this, Vinod Tawde and Saroj Pandey have also been given different tasks. If sources are to be believed, the BJP has tasked Vinod Tawde to hold discussions with the State’s RSS lead- ership and directly re- port the same to the party high command. As Tawde has an RSS background, it is be- lieved that before dis- cussions with the MLAs, the party would try to know the liking and disliking of RSS office-bearers. MIFFED OVER RAJ RESULTS RaGa SLAMS LEADERS Rahul Gandhi looked very angry at AICC’s meeting related to Rajasthan and refused to listen to anyone’s explanation in meeting. On contrary, he told this to the Rajasthan leadership, “In 4 days, please give us your sugges- tions on how to win Lok Sabha elections on 25 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan?” Interestingly, there is a big reason for Rahul Gandhi’s displeasure. It is said that Rahul wanted to give at least 50 tickets based on independent report and the word that tickets for new faces will be given by cutting the tickets of 50 existing MLAs. But he could not do so and the result was that the game was lost. Rahul Gandhi had to bow down to the insistence of big leaders of Rajasthan. Rahul was angry with ticket distribution. There is very little difference be- tween our vote share and the votes polled in BJP's favor. Many of our candi- dates have lost by very less votes. There are such candidates also whose difference is less than 1500. All of these issues were discussed. We have told them from today it- self that we will prepare for Parliament. Wherever our shortcomings remain, we will counter them. We will fight the elections unitedly. The entire Con- gress was united in the assembly elections. Our booth level or divisional presidents, block presi- dents and district presi- dents did a lot of work. Congress workers also worked very hard. Our leaders have also said that preparations for Lok Sab- ha elections have to be made from today itself. We have to fight and tell people that we will come out victorious, he said. On the question of res- ignation of the in-charge or state president after the defeat of Congress in Ra- jasthan elections, Rand- hawa said, Rajasthan has had much better per- formance compared to other states. Our vote share has not come down. We have moved ahead by 0.44% from earlier. ANI Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh) Taking a jibe at Rajasthan caretaker Minister, Un- ion Minister Anurag Thakur said that Ashok Gehlot’s “wish” would come true on Monday, suggesting that the CM selections for three states, namely Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattis- garh, would be disclosed. “We will fulfil Ashok Gehlotji’s wish on Mon- day. Rajasthan has wit- nessed corruption, nepo- tism and inner clashes during his five-year rule. He should sit peacefully now,” Thakur told re- porters. Attacking the Con- gress party, he added, “Our party doesn’t give orders from the top; rath- er, we have a strong dem- ocratic system where all the MLAs sit together and decide the leader”.
