UNTOLD STORIES OF PM MODI - PART 42
‘MODI HAI TO MUMKIN HAI…’
NaMo: A COACH AND
A STEWARD LEADER!
PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI
MODI RAISES HIS ARMY
OF KARYAKARTAS FOR
BATTLEGROUND STATES
Modi’s focus on neglected regions
makes him dauntingly popular
aMo played a key role in strengthening
BJP in Haryana by investing time in
training the karyakartas for success. His
patience and persistence in grooming
his army of party workers ensured that
the party won elections in the state after 48 years.
There is no doubt that even the fate of a rock can
change, only if it is painstakingly and patiently
carved out into a diamond. Modiji is special in the
fact that he does not lose patience with people. He
invests time, energy and focuses on the ordinary
workers and is persistent in his efforts to make
themshineoutanddeliverfortheparty
.Hegives
hisalltomakepeopleparticipateeffectivelyand
purposefully in the Sangathan as well as in the
government. It will be jejune to believe that
Modiji gets super karyakartas on a platter;
rather he shapes party workers into effective
karyakartas through conscientious efforts.
I was given the opportunity to be a Lok
Sabha candidate from Ambala. I have dis-
tinct memory of the meeting Modiji con-
venedinSector16,Panchkula.“Howtowin
elections!” was the topic of discussion in
the meeting and Modiji narrated an anec-
dote to inspire his listeners to win battles.
Thestorywentsomewhatlikethis-Armies
had launched a massive attack and one of
them was moving ahead towards victory
.
Whenitwasjust2to2.5kmawayfromwin-
ning, the soldiers encountered a huge
chasm. The advance came to a halt. Just
then, the army commander, appeared from
behind and asked “Why have the armies
come to a standstill?” The men told him that
it was a deep chasm that had stopped them.
Neither they nor their horses were capable
of crossing that divide. And the hilltop into
whichtheyneededtodigtheirflagof victory
was right across this deep opening in the
earth.Theysaid“Sir,thehilltopiswithinour
viewfromherebutwecan’treachthere.”The
battle had to be won, nevertheless. The com-
mander then ordered the first few rows of the
battalion to sacrifice their lives by jumping into
thechasmandorderedthelastfewrowstocrossover
bygoingoverthebodiesof theirbrethren.Thatishow
the battle was won and the flag of victory unfurled!
Modiji then drew a comparison between the
partyworkersandsoldiers.Hesaidthatkaryakar-
tas are the army of the party
. He used to inspire
the party workers to devote themselves complete-
ly to the party
, raised the morale of the workers
and appealed to them to be ready to make sacrifices
for the party so that no matter what the situation or
challenge, the party emerged victorious.
Ever since he took over the reins of the party,
BJP has made unprecedented foray in Haryana.
The party strengthened and became powerful in
the state. He ensured that massive work was done
at the grassroots level under his stewardship. This
work carved out the path of success for the party
and the results since 2000 have proved it. It was
after 48 years that the BJP formed the government
in Haryana, not once but twice.
Thus, the seeds of these successes were sown by
Modiji long before they flourished and blossomed
into big wins in the state. Modiji’s leadership in-
spired the workers and the good work done under
his guidance bore fruit.
Not just this, whenever Modiji would assume re-
sponsibility of an event or a program, he would en-
sure that every single detail of the event was clearly
laid out. His meticulous planning and tenacious ef-
forts always inevitably resulted in perfect events. For
instance, when Advaniji took out a yatra in Haryana,
itwasasperModiji’splanning.If itwassomeoneelse,
Advaniji’s yatra could have easily taken the GT road
as its primary route and proceeded to Kurukshetra.
ButModijiinsteadplannedtomakeAdvanijivisitthe
famous, immortal banyan tree in Jyotisar under
which Lord Krishna had imparted his teachings of
the Gita to Arjuna more than 5000 years ago. In this
way
, Modiji renders a special touch to everything he
does making all his programs unique and perfect!
n 2007, I was in Kutch for 20 days. Elec-
tions were on and Modiji was scheduled
to address a public meeting in Bhuj. Now
Kutch was never on the wishlist of poli-
ticians when it came to visits! It was one
of the most neglected and ignored regions of Gu-
jarat. And when Modiji started to deliver his
speech, he began with the questions “How many
Chief Ministers have visited
Kutch in 5 years? How many
times have they visited Kutch
in 5 years?” People responded
saying that the ministers had
hardly visited once or twice.
And then he asked “How
many times has Narendra
Modi visited Kutch in the last
5 years?” And there was a
huge applause and people
starting counting the numer-
ous times Modiji had been to
Kutch. He had visited Kutch
at least 30 to 40 times during
his tenure of 5 years as CM.
The next question that
Modiji posed to the crowd
was this - “Do you agree I
have the right to ask all of
you to vote for me? Do I de-
serve to make this request to you all?” And there
was a thunderous applause to this. It was a huge
gathering and people raised both their hands in a
display of support for Narendra Modi for his sec-
ond tenure as CM. They, in fact, made it very clear
to everyone who was watching, that no one other
than Modi had the right to seek their votes because
he was 1st CM who had taken care of them.

Moni Sharma
New Delhi/Barabanki:
If a single allegation
against me is proven, I
will hang myself, WFI

gh said on Wednesday
regarding the ongoing
wrestlers’ protest and
their allegations of sex-

any punishment. The
protesting wrestlers on

dress their grievances.

your (wrestlers) medals

The sexual harassment case against WFI chief Brij
Bhushan Sharan Singh is under consideration and
the status report of probe will be submitted to court,

scepticism about India,
particularly with over-
seas investors, ignores
the significant changes
that have taken place in
India, especially since
2014. India of today, the
report said, is different
from what it was in 2013.
Listing the 10 big
changes that have hap-
pened since Prime Min-
ister Narendra Modi
took office in 2014, the
brokerage said bring-
ing corporate tax at par
with peers and infra-
structure investment
picking pace are one of
the biggest supply-side
policy reforms.
Also, the rising col-
lection of GST -- the
uniform tax that re-
placed more than a doz-
en different central and
state taxes -- and the ris-
ing share of digital
transactions as a per-
centage of GDP indi-
cate the formalisation
of the economy
.
Transfer of subsidies
to accounts of benefi-
ciaries, insolvency and
bankruptcy code, flexi-
ble inflation targeting,
focus on FDI, govern-
ment support for corpo-
rateprofits,anewlawfor

nificant changes, it said.
Manufacturing and
capital spending as a
percentage of GDP has
continuously risen,
Morgan Stanley said,
adding export market
share is projected to
more than double to 4.5
per cent by 2031.
India, according to
the report, “will emerge
as a key driver for Asia
and global growth.” On
the skepticism about
India, particularly with
overseas investors, who
say India has not deliv-
ered its potential -- de-
spite it being the sec-
ond-fastest growing
economy and among
the top-performing
stock markets over the
past 25 years -- and that
equity valuations are
too rich, it said, such a
view ignores the signifi-
cant changes that have
taken place in India, es-
pecially since 2014.

Jaipur: Congress High
Command has once
again showed its
strength in the matter
of leadership tussle be-
tween Rajasthan CM
Ashok Gehlot and his
former deputy Sachin
Pilot and made it clear
that its authority is the
same as before.
With increasing num-
bers of Congress- ruled
states, the leadership of
the party is regaining
its dominance and the
Gandhi family is re-
turning to its old days.
Factionalism is not
new in Rajasthan Con-
gress politics. This has
happened many times
in the state unit of the
party. It was Jawahar
Lal Nehru, who curbed
factionalism in the par-
ty after independence.
Later, Indira Gandhi,
Sanjay Gandhi and Ra-
jiv Gandhi also did the
same in their times.
Now Rahul Gandhi is
doing what his ances-
tors did.
At the time of Bharat
Jodo Yatra, Rahul has
understood the mood of
the Congress here. Af-
ter this, the Gandhi
family got the blue print
ready in Shimla and
now according to the
Shimla formula, the
Congress will be seen
moving forward in Ra-
jasthan. On the other
hand, speculations
about Sachin Pilot leav-
ing the party have end-
ed. Pilot will remain in
the Congress party and
he will accept all the de-
cisions of the High
Command.
Now BJP leadership
is doing analysis of this
new 'development'.

2NDFRONT
POSTAL REG NO. JPC/004/2022-24
 Were the recently
concluded Gujarat
elections akin to a
national referendum
for Narendra Modi?
Also, has it come to
pass that Modi has
an even bigger stat-
ure than the BJP?
Dr Jagdeesh Chandra:
If someone brings 156
seats, then it is bound
to appear that it was
actually a referendum.
And the atmosphere
was such that it ap-
pears it was Modi ver-
sus everyone else in
Gujarat. And everyone
else lost and Modi won.
In fact, people argued
that this could be tak-
en as a national mood,
symbolically speak-
ing. And as far as party
is concerned, no one
likes to say or hear
that a leader has be-
come bigger than the
party, but the truth is
that for every election,
be it Gram Sarpanch
to Lok Sabha polls, the
party looks up to Modi.
Modi is, in a way, an
axis of the party. So as
far as implementation
is concerned, of
course, Modi’s stature
appears to be bigger
than that of the
party. Without Modi,
the party would ap-
pear to be ‘incomplete’
and ‘isolated.’
 Do you think the
Indian democratic
system is heading
for a change under
Modi? Is it moving
towards Presiden-
tial system?
See, few people claim
that we are moving to-
wards dictatorship,
but I don’t buy that
view. But yes, I do be-
lieve that we may be on
the way to the Presi-
dential System, that is
to say it is transparent.
It is happening with-
out any concentrated
effort in this direction.
This is happening be-
cause all focus is on
Modi and others are
not working as much.
At most, you can in-
clude Amit Shah and
JP Nadda and may be a
handful others, who
have some say. So, what
then happens is that all
power and efforts are
then concentrated in
the leader or the leader
who is the focal point
of schemes and poli-
cies or the one who
makes you win the
election and since all
that is happening with
Modi being at helm, so
it may appear that our
nation is inching to-
wards the Presidential
System and if it is go-
ing that way, then it is
good as everyone will
get a chance. If some-
one has the power then
they can contest the
election and if Modi is
popular then he will
win. So, I do not have
any problem on a
personal level, if we
move towards the Pres-
idential System of gov-
ernance.
 What does PM
Modi’s successful
Australia tour
mean, since even the
Australian PM has
said that Modi is the
‘Boss’?
It is wonderful and a
miracle in itself. For
the PM of a nation like
Australia, to say such
words in their own
country for the PM of
another nation, it
means that Modi is the
‘Boss’ for Australia
too. That is its implica-
tion. It is a major de-
velopment. Modi had
said in his address that
it was not only the Aus-
tralian government
that welcomed him,
rather the Opposition
and former PMs were
also present. That is
why the Australian PM
said that Modi is the
‘Boss.’ My conclusion
in this episode is that
when Modi had gone to
Australia, he was still
on the path to becom-
ing global leader, but
now that he has re-
turned from Australia,
he has become the
global leader and this
statement proves it.
 After returning
from Australia, PM
Modi re tweeted a
tweet of ABP anchor
Rubika Liyaquat. Do
you think this move
of PM boosts a jour-
nalist’s morale?
Rubika Liyaquat is a
top anchor of ABP. I
mention her name be-
cause perhaps she was
the only anchor that
time who was awake at
3 AM when PM Modi
returned from Austral-
ia. Had I been a jour-
nalist perhaps I may
have thought who
would wake up at 3 AM
for PM’s arrival and
would have postponed
any news or develop-
ment for the next day.
Later, I spoke with Ru-
bika and asked her
how did she come to
this decision to go for
PM’s arrival and she
said that her editor
Sant Prasad should be
commended for it as he
was the one, who said
that she should go and
so she went and see
how a person’s luck
changes over night.
Luck in journalism
means if PM re tweets
your tweet then a jour-
nalist’s happiness
knows no bounds. In
that crowd at the air-
port, she came across
Nurshid Ali who told
her that he had been
waiting for a glimpse
of PM Modi for nine
years and he termed
himself to be ‘Modi
Bhakt’ Nurshid Ali. I
told you about the new
voter constituency,
this is one of that per-
sons and that constitu-
ency is not only in Hin-
dus, but it is across the
religious lines, so Ru-
bika must have tweet-
ed this and PM’s moni-
toring system is im-
maculate and in fact, I
would say it is better
than the American sys-
tem. One Hiren Joshi
works in PM office,
who must have seen
this and must have told
PM and as a pat on the
back, PM must have
asked to re tweet Ru-
bika’s tweet and on top
of that, he said that it
was the love and trust
of crores of people
that motivates him to
work continuously. So
the story is complete.
So, the entire media
got this message in
quarters that used to
claim that media keeps
its distance from Modi
they too came to know.
 PM Narendra
Modi will be on tour
of America after his
tour of Australia.
Will USA also give
him the same grand
and warm welcome
as accorded by Aus-
tralia?
Definitely. They have
done so already. In the
past, when he had vis-
ited Manhattan, about
50,000 people had
reached to see Modi
and now it has been so
long, Modi has defi-
nitely become grand-
er. Today even the
President of USA has
asked for Modi’s auto-
graph, so it is certain
that he will be accord-
ed a grand welcome.
And perhaps this is
the first time that
Modi has been de-
clared as ‘State Guest’
of America, I am not
certain, but someone
said so recently. And
even if it is not the
first time, then too,
this is a huge thing
that this is the same
America which had
declined visa to Modi
and look at how the ta-
bles have turned
through sheer luck
and a person’s hard
work that a nation will
roll out the red carpet
to welcome him. He
will be there from
June 21 onwards and
he will take part in In-
ternational Yoga Day
celebrations at UN and
then he has other en-
gagements and it is
certain that Indian-
origin Americans will
rush to see him. Modi’s
visit will be like Di-
wali. He has some-
thing in him which at-
tracts people to him.
When he was CM of
Gujarat, I used to meet
him. Once we were to-
gether and he narrated
an incident. He said
that three individuals
from Gujarat had met
him the very day and
they had returned
from Singapore. Dur-
ing their visit, the lo-
cals in Singapore must
have asked which
place they were from
 the three men said
they were from Guja-
rat and the local asked
if they knew Modi. At
that time, I used to
wonder if this was
even a reality and it
actually happened. He
became PM and now
all this is happening
right in front of our
eyes. So in a way, you
can say that Modi is
going to conquer
America.
 How successful, ac-
cording to you, has
‘Mann Ki Baat’ been?
It is indeed successful
and it was his idea that
he should have a direct
dialogue with people
there should be no one
in between, that even
masses should get a
chance to put across
their ideas issues.
Thus, a two way com-
munication. Secondly,
it was in his mind that
those talented individ-
uals who are not in the
limelight, hailing from
various sectors, he
wanted to interact
with them and bring
them forward in the
main stream. So, the
‘Mann Ki Baat’ is a
success. Modi’s mar-
keting is such that
even the best advertis-
ing agency of the world
may also not be able to
compete. Crores of
people watch it or hear
it regularly and the ra-
dio, which had lost its
existence has been
re-introduced.
 How do you see the
entire development
around the new Par-
liament which was
recently dedicated to
the public?
Modi’s life is full of
events, happenings and
thrill. Journalists may
get tired writing about
it, we may get tired
holding such talks, but
Modi will never tire
out. Such a huge pro-
gramme was organ-
ised. When the old Par-
liament was construct-
ed, it took six years to
complete it, from 1921
to 1927 or thereabouts.
And this Parliament
has been constructed
in merely 29 months.
He may have thought
that the old Parliament
building was a mark of
colonial past of India
and that we should con-
struct out own Parlia-
ment. Even leave that
aside. Just consider
that the Parliament
was of 18th century
and now with change
in time, we need to con-
struct a new Parlia-
ment of 21st century.
And look at it, in just 29
months he got it done
and technically the
credit goes to Om Birla
as he got the work
done. Just imagine
how elated he must
have been and what a
moment it would have
been in his life and he
even said that this new
Parliament is sign of
the dreams of 140 crore
Indians. In fact, Modi
wrote an article in In-
dian Express that this
new building will fur-
ther strengthen and
empower the Indian
democracy, which is
the largest democracy
of the world. One
newspaper carried the
headline which stated
that this was a signa-
ture on time itself.
Modi ji even went on to
say that ‘Democracy’ is
his motivation ‘Con-
stitution’ his resolu-
tion. It was a wonder-
ful development and he
must have been ex-
tremely happy.
Modi is now a global leader. Even American President
wants his autograph, which, in a way, means that
Modi has even conquered America: Dr Chandra

Dr Jagdeesh Chandra - CEO and Editor-in-Chief, Bharat24-Vision of New India and
First India CMD, First India News, reflecting on the nine years of Modi
government, stresses that the Indian Prime Minister is now, without a doubt, a
global leader. Dr Chandra cites examples of Papua New Guinea PM touching Modi’s
feet, Australian PM calling him ‘Boss’ and US President seeking Modi’s autograph
as developments pointing in this direction. He also stresses that for Modi,
‘Democracy’ is his motivation and ‘Constitution’ his resolution. Excerpts... (Part-II)

City First brings to you
the world of Tripppy fashion
and its mesmerizing allure. It
makes you step into a world where
reality and imagination intertwine and
style becomes a canvas...

ashion is an ever-evolving form
of self-expression, continuously
pushing boundaries and explor-
ing new frontiers. In recent years,
a captivating trend known as
“trippy fashion” has emerged, of-
fering a vibrant and surreal aes-
thetic that captivates the imagination.
Blending psychedelic patterns, vibrant
colours and mind-bending designs, this
fashion movement invites individuals to
embark on a transformative journey of
self-discovery.
At the heart of trippy fashion lies an
array of mind-bending prints and pat-
terns. Kaleidoscopic swirls, hypnotic tie-
dye and intricate fractal designs take
centre stage, evoking a sense of other-
worldliness and transcendent beauty.
These prints often play with optical illu-
sions, creating a sense of depth and
movement that mesmerizes the eye.
Whether on flowing maxi dresses, tai-
lored suits, or streetwear-inspired t-
shirts, psychedelic prints infuse gar-
ments with an explosion of colour and
energy.
Trippy fashion revels in a vivid and
striking colour palette. Electric blues,
neon pinks, acid yellows and fluores-
cent greens collide, creating a visually
stunning amalgamation that challeng-
es the boundaries of traditional colour
schemes. The combination of these
vibrant hues generates an energetic
and uplifting aura, encouraging wear-
ers to embrace their inner creativity
and exude a sense of fearlessness.
Trippy fashion thrives on experi-
mentation and eclecticism, encourag-
ing individuals to embrace their own
unique style. Mixing and matching dif-
ferent patterns, textures, and silhou-
ettes is at the heart of this trend, allow-
ing wearers to create head-turn-
ing ensembles that reflect their
personalities and individuality.
From pairing tie-dye leggings with
a sequined jacket to combining
psychedelic prints with edgy
accessories, the possibilities for
creative expression are end-
less.
Trippy fashion extends
beyond clothing, offering
a range of mind-altering
accessories to complete the
transformative look. Chunky
platform shoes with neon ac-
cents, holographic sunglasses, and
oversized hats adorned with swirling
patterns are just a few examples of ac-
cessories that contribute to the trippy
aesthetic. These accessories not only en-
hance the overall visual impact but also
serve as conversation starters, in-
viting others to explore the wear-
er’s unique perspective.

he days are long, but the
years are short. This is
one adage that summa-
rises parenthood quite
simply! I am not here to
debate, nor do I think
there is anything wrong
with mothers being primary car-
egivers in a child’s life. In fact,
motherhood is a beautiful and
fulfilling experience. The prob-
lem arises when we fail to recog-
nise that behind the facade of
beauty comes a fair share of
challenges and responsibilities.
So while the dads come back
from the office, kick off their
shoes and relax – where does the
mom go to get her downtime? In
my experience, it is mostly the
bathroom, where mums lock
themselves up to ‘relive’ them-
selves!Punintended!Butfunnyas
it may sound, amidst the joy and
chaos,itisessentialformothersto
prioritize their mental wellness
through self-care, well beyond the
extra-long bathroom breaks.
Taking care of one's mental
healthnotonlybenefitsthemoth-
er but also positively impacts her
children and family
. The impor-
tanceof self-careformotherscan-
not be overstated. Call it societal
pressure, generational trauma,
or the impact of social media –
the end result is that motherhood
often involves putting the needs
of children and family before
one's own. However, neglecting
self-care can lead to emotional
exhaustion, burnout, and a de-
cline in mental well-being. It is
crucial for mothers to recognize
that their mental health matters
andthatself-careisnotselfishbut
necessary for their overall well-
being. When mothers prioritize
self-care,theyarebetterequipped
to handle the daily challenges of
parenting and are more emotion-
ally available for their children.
Therearepracticalself-carestrat-
egies that I would like to share,
and implore you to implement in
your life on priority:
ESTABLISHING BOUNDARIES
Setting boundaries helps moth-
ers maintain a balance between
their personal needs and the de-
mands of motherhood. This in-
cludes learning to say no, dele-
gating tasks, and carving out
personal time. You cannot do it
all. So if the child gets some ex-
tra TV time on one day
, or misses
out on school one day because
you went out of town on a Yoga
retreat over a weekend... it's OK!
TAKING TIME FOR YOURSELF
Allocating regular time for ac-
tivities that bring joy and relaxa-
tion is vital. Whether it’s read-
ing a book, going to Zumba
classes with friends, engaging in
a hobby, or simply taking a walk
in the park - dedicating time for
oneself allows mothers to re-
charge and rejuvenate. During
the ongoing vacations, I just put
my daughter in a Summer Camp
much against her wishes, and
took the 2 hours she was gone to
have my own mini vacations!
NURTURING SOCIAL
CONNECTIONS
Buildingasupportnetworkiscru-
cial for maternal mental well-be-
ing. Connecting with other moth-
ers, joining support groups, or
seeking therapy provides an out-
let for sharing experiences, seek-
ing guidance, and fostering social
connectionsthatcombatisolation
and loneliness. With growing nu-
clear family setups, don’t shut
yourself off. Join communities,
initiate play dates or pick up the
phone and call a friend!
PRIORITIZING SLEEP AND REST
Adequate sleep is essential for
mental and physical health. My
dark circles are a testament to
this. Mothers should strive to es-
tablish healthy sleep routines,
take short breaks when needed,
and seek support from partners,
family members, or friends to en-
sure they get sufficient rest. I
couldnotmanagethisforthelong-
est time, till I put my foot down
and sent my husband and dog out
of my sleep equation. I now wake
up better rested and happier.
SEEKING PROFESSIONAL HELP
It's important for mothers to rec-
ognize when they need profes-
sional support. If feelings of
anxiety, depression, or over-
whelm persist, seeking therapy
or counselling can be immensely
helpful in managing mental
health challenges. I am the first
to admit this. Therapy has
helped me calm my frayed
nerves and realise that my child
is just being a child, and I am the
one who needs to work on my-
self and remain a calm happy
person. Rest will follow.
AND WHAT IS THIS
REST THAT FOLLOWS?
A positive ripple effect on their
children and family
. A
mentally healthy
mother is better
equipped to provide
emotional support,
create a nurturing environment,
and model healthy coping mecha-
nisms for her children. Children
benefitfromhavingamotherwho
isphysicallyandemotionallypre-
sent, as it fosters a secure attach-
mentandpromotestheir
own well-being. It’s
a well-known fact
that a parent
should lead by
example. So I
wantmydaughtertoseeamother
who takes care of herself physi-
cally and emotionally because
that's what she will do for herself
when she is an adult.
Let us empower ourselves to em-
brace self-care as an essential
part of our journey. A mentally
healthy mother is the founda-
tion for a thriving family. Be-
cause life should be about thriv-
ing not just surviving!

PERSPECTIVE JAIPUR | THURSDAY, JUNE 1, 2023 02 www.firstindia.co.in I https://firstindia.co.in/epapers/jaipur I twitter.com/thefirstindia I facebook.com/thefirstindia I instagram.com/thefirstindia UNTOLD STORIES OF PM MODI - PART 42 ‘MODI HAI TO MUMKIN HAI…’ NaMo: A COACH AND A STEWARD LEADER! PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI MODI RAISES HIS ARMY OF KARYAKARTAS FOR BATTLEGROUND STATES Modi’s focus on neglected regions makes him dauntingly popular aMo played a key role in strengthening BJP in Haryana by investing time in training the karyakartas for success. His patience and persistence in grooming his army of party workers ensured that the party won elections in the state after 48 years. There is no doubt that even the fate of a rock can change, only if it is painstakingly and patiently carved out into a diamond. Modiji is special in the fact that he does not lose patience with people. He invests time, energy and focuses on the ordinary workers and is persistent in his efforts to make themshineoutanddeliverfortheparty .Hegives hisalltomakepeopleparticipateeffectivelyand purposefully in the Sangathan as well as in the government. It will be jejune to believe that Modiji gets super karyakartas on a platter; rather he shapes party workers into effective karyakartas through conscientious efforts. I was given the opportunity to be a Lok Sabha candidate from Ambala. I have dis- tinct memory of the meeting Modiji con- venedinSector16,Panchkula.“Howtowin elections!” was the topic of discussion in the meeting and Modiji narrated an anec- dote to inspire his listeners to win battles. Thestorywentsomewhatlikethis-Armies had launched a massive attack and one of them was moving ahead towards victory . Whenitwasjust2to2.5kmawayfromwin- ning, the soldiers encountered a huge chasm. The advance came to a halt. Just then, the army commander, appeared from behind and asked “Why have the armies come to a standstill?” The men told him that it was a deep chasm that had stopped them. Neither they nor their horses were capable of crossing that divide. And the hilltop into whichtheyneededtodigtheirflagof victory was right across this deep opening in the earth.Theysaid“Sir,thehilltopiswithinour viewfromherebutwecan’treachthere.”The battle had to be won, nevertheless. The com- mander then ordered the first few rows of the battalion to sacrifice their lives by jumping into thechasmandorderedthelastfewrowstocrossover bygoingoverthebodiesof theirbrethren.Thatishow the battle was won and the flag of victory unfurled! Modiji then drew a comparison between the partyworkersandsoldiers.Hesaidthatkaryakar- tas are the army of the party . He used to inspire the party workers to devote themselves complete- ly to the party , raised the morale of the workers and appealed to them to be ready to make sacrifices for the party so that no matter what the situation or challenge, the party emerged victorious. Ever since he took over the reins of the party, BJP has made unprecedented foray in Haryana. The party strengthened and became powerful in the state. He ensured that massive work was done at the grassroots level under his stewardship. This work carved out the path of success for the party and the results since 2000 have proved it. It was after 48 years that the BJP formed the government in Haryana, not once but twice. Thus, the seeds of these successes were sown by Modiji long before they flourished and blossomed into big wins in the state. Modiji’s leadership in- spired the workers and the good work done under his guidance bore fruit. Not just this, whenever Modiji would assume re- sponsibility of an event or a program, he would en- sure that every single detail of the event was clearly laid out. His meticulous planning and tenacious ef- forts always inevitably resulted in perfect events. For instance, when Advaniji took out a yatra in Haryana, itwasasperModiji’splanning. If itwassomeoneelse, Advaniji’s yatra could have easily taken the GT road as its primary route and proceeded to Kurukshetra. ButModijiinsteadplannedtomakeAdvanijivisitthe famous, immortal banyan tree in Jyotisar under which Lord Krishna had imparted his teachings of the Gita to Arjuna more than 5000 years ago. In this way , Modiji renders a special touch to everything he does making all his programs unique and perfect! n 2007, I was in Kutch for 20 days. Elec- tions were on and Modiji was scheduled to address a public meeting in Bhuj. Now Kutch was never on the wishlist of poli- ticians when it came to visits! It was one of the most neglected and ignored regions of Gu- jarat. And when Modiji started to deliver his speech, he began with the questions “How many Chief Ministers have visited Kutch in 5 years? How many times have they visited Kutch in 5 years?” People responded saying that the ministers had hardly visited once or twice. And then he asked “How many times has Narendra Modi visited Kutch in the last 5 years?” And there was a huge applause and people starting counting the numer- ous times Modiji had been to Kutch. He had visited Kutch at least 30 to 40 times during his tenure of 5 years as CM. The next question that Modiji posed to the crowd was this - “Do you agree I have the right to ask all of you to vote for me? Do I de- serve to make this request to you all?” And there was a thunderous applause to this. It was a huge gathering and people raised both their hands in a display of support for Narendra Modi for his sec- ond tenure as CM. They, in fact, made it very clear to everyone who was watching, that no one other than Modi had the right to seek their votes because he was 1st CM who had taken care of them. RATTAN LAL KATARIA BJP Leader, Haryana ATUL BHATKHALKAR BJP Leader, Maharashtra N Chief Ministers have visited Kutch in 5 years? How many times have they visited Kutch in 5 years?” People responded saying that the ministers had hardly visited once or twice. • 11. Choose to begin anew, whenever you so desire, it’s always a new day, a new hour – fresh, innocent and full of wonder. —Dr Jagdeesh Chandra, CEO Editor-in-Chief, First India JAIPUR | THURSDAY, JUNE 1, 2023 www.firstindia.co.in I https://firstindia.co.in/epapers/jaipur I twitter.com/thefirstindia I facebook.com/thefirstindia I instagram.com/thefirstindia 10 2NDFRONT POSTAL REG NO. JPC/004/2022-24  Were the recently concluded Gujarat elections akin to a national referendum for Narendra Modi? Also, has it come to pass that Modi has an even bigger stat- ure than the BJP? Dr Jagdeesh Chandra: If someone brings 156 seats, then it is bound to appear that it was actually a referendum. And the atmosphere was such that it ap- pears it was Modi ver- sus everyone else in Gujarat. And everyone else lost and Modi won. In fact, people argued that this could be tak- en as a national mood, symbolically speak- ing. And as far as party is concerned, no one likes to say or hear that a leader has be- come bigger than the party, but the truth is that for every election, be it Gram Sarpanch to Lok Sabha polls, the party looks up to Modi. Modi is, in a way, an axis of the party. So as far as implementation is concerned, of course, Modi’s stature appears to be bigger than that of the party. Without Modi, the party would ap- pear to be ‘incomplete’ and ‘isolated.’  Do you think the Indian democratic system is heading for a change under Modi? Is it moving towards Presiden- tial system? See, few people claim that we are moving to- wards dictatorship, but I don’t buy that view. But yes, I do be- lieve that we may be on the way to the Presi- dential System, that is to say it is transparent. It is happening with- out any concentrated effort in this direction. This is happening be- cause all focus is on Modi and others are not working as much. At most, you can in- clude Amit Shah and JP Nadda and may be a handful others, who have some say. So, what then happens is that all power and efforts are then concentrated in the leader or the leader who is the focal point of schemes and poli- cies or the one who makes you win the election and since all that is happening with Modi being at helm, so it may appear that our nation is inching to- wards the Presidential System and if it is go- ing that way, then it is good as everyone will get a chance. If some- one has the power then they can contest the election and if Modi is popular then he will win. So, I do not have any problem on a personal level, if we move towards the Pres- idential System of gov- ernance.  What does PM Modi’s successful Australia tour mean, since even the Australian PM has said that Modi is the ‘Boss’? It is wonderful and a miracle in itself. For the PM of a nation like Australia, to say such words in their own country for the PM of another nation, it means that Modi is the ‘Boss’ for Australia too. That is its implica- tion. It is a major de- velopment. Modi had said in his address that it was not only the Aus- tralian government that welcomed him, rather the Opposition and former PMs were also present. That is why the Australian PM said that Modi is the ‘Boss.’ My conclusion in this episode is that when Modi had gone to Australia, he was still on the path to becom- ing global leader, but now that he has re- turned from Australia, he has become the global leader and this statement proves it.  After returning from Australia, PM Modi re tweeted a tweet of ABP anchor Rubika Liyaquat. Do you think this move of PM boosts a jour- nalist’s morale? Rubika Liyaquat is a top anchor of ABP. I mention her name be- cause perhaps she was the only anchor that time who was awake at 3 AM when PM Modi returned from Austral- ia. Had I been a jour- nalist perhaps I may have thought who would wake up at 3 AM for PM’s arrival and would have postponed any news or develop- ment for the next day. Later, I spoke with Ru- bika and asked her how did she come to this decision to go for PM’s arrival and she said that her editor Sant Prasad should be commended for it as he was the one, who said that she should go and so she went and see how a person’s luck changes over night. Luck in journalism means if PM re tweets your tweet then a jour- nalist’s happiness knows no bounds. In that crowd at the air- port, she came across Nurshid Ali who told her that he had been waiting for a glimpse of PM Modi for nine years and he termed himself to be ‘Modi Bhakt’ Nurshid Ali. I told you about the new voter constituency, this is one of that per- sons and that constitu- ency is not only in Hin- dus, but it is across the religious lines, so Ru- bika must have tweet- ed this and PM’s moni- toring system is im- maculate and in fact, I would say it is better than the American sys- tem. One Hiren Joshi works in PM office, who must have seen this and must have told PM and as a pat on the back, PM must have asked to re tweet Ru- bika’s tweet and on top of that, he said that it was the love and trust of crores of people that motivates him to work continuously. So the story is complete. So, the entire media got this message in quarters that used to claim that media keeps its distance from Modi they too came to know.  PM Narendra Modi will be on tour of America after his tour of Australia. Will USA also give him the same grand and warm welcome as accorded by Aus- tralia? Definitely. They have done so already. In the past, when he had vis- ited Manhattan, about 50,000 people had reached to see Modi and now it has been so long, Modi has defi- nitely become grand- er. Today even the President of USA has asked for Modi’s auto- graph, so it is certain that he will be accord- ed a grand welcome. And perhaps this is the first time that Modi has been de- clared as ‘State Guest’ of America, I am not certain, but someone said so recently. And even if it is not the first time, then too, this is a huge thing that this is the same America which had declined visa to Modi and look at how the ta- bles have turned through sheer luck and a person’s hard work that a nation will roll out the red carpet to welcome him. He will be there from June 21 onwards and he will take part in In- ternational Yoga Day celebrations at UN and then he has other en- gagements and it is certain that Indian- origin Americans will rush to see him. Modi’s visit will be like Di- wali. He has some- thing in him which at- tracts people to him. When he was CM of Gujarat, I used to meet him. Once we were to- gether and he narrated an incident. He said that three individuals from Gujarat had met him the very day and they had returned from Singapore. Dur- ing their visit, the lo- cals in Singapore must have asked which place they were from the three men said they were from Guja- rat and the local asked if they knew Modi. At that time, I used to wonder if this was even a reality and it actually happened. He became PM and now all this is happening right in front of our eyes. So in a way, you can say that Modi is going to conquer America.  How successful, ac- cording to you, has ‘Mann Ki Baat’ been? It is indeed successful and it was his idea that he should have a direct dialogue with people there should be no one in between, that even masses should get a chance to put across their ideas issues. Thus, a two way com- munication. Secondly, it was in his mind that those talented individ- uals who are not in the limelight, hailing from various sectors, he wanted to interact with them and bring them forward in the main stream. So, the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ is a success. Modi’s mar- keting is such that even the best advertis- ing agency of the world may also not be able to compete. Crores of people watch it or hear it regularly and the ra- dio, which had lost its existence has been re-introduced.  How do you see the entire development around the new Par- liament which was recently dedicated to the public? Modi’s life is full of events, happenings and thrill. Journalists may get tired writing about it, we may get tired holding such talks, but Modi will never tire out. Such a huge pro- gramme was organ- ised. When the old Par- liament was construct- ed, it took six years to complete it, from 1921 to 1927 or thereabouts. And this Parliament has been constructed in merely 29 months. He may have thought that the old Parliament building was a mark of colonial past of India and that we should con- struct out own Parlia- ment. Even leave that aside. Just consider that the Parliament was of 18th century and now with change in time, we need to con- struct a new Parlia- ment of 21st century. And look at it, in just 29 months he got it done and technically the credit goes to Om Birla as he got the work done. Just imagine how elated he must have been and what a moment it would have been in his life and he even said that this new Parliament is sign of the dreams of 140 crore Indians. In fact, Modi wrote an article in In- dian Express that this new building will fur- ther strengthen and empower the Indian democracy, which is the largest democracy of the world. One newspaper carried the headline which stated that this was a signa- ture on time itself. Modi ji even went on to say that ‘Democracy’ is his motivation ‘Con- stitution’ his resolu- tion. It was a wonder- ful development and he must have been ex- tremely happy. Modi is now a global leader. Even American President wants his autograph, which, in a way, means that Modi has even conquered America: Dr Chandra During the show #JConModi9Years trended top All-India on Twitter Dr Jagdeesh Chandra in conversation with Sana Yadav, Guneet Kaur Seth, Amit Mishra, Shikha Thakur and Poornima Mishra during The JC Show. This is one adage that summa- rises parenthood quite simply! I am not here to debate, nor do I think there is anything wrong with mothers being primary car- egivers in a child’s life. In fact, motherhood is a beautiful and fulfilling experience. The prob- lem arises when we fail to recog- nise that behind the facade of beauty comes a fair share of challenges and responsibilities. So while the dads come back from the office, kick off their shoes and relax – where does the mom go to get her downtime? In my experience, it is mostly the bathroom, where mums lock themselves up to ‘relive’ them- selves!Punintended!Butfunnyas it may sound, amidst the joy and chaos, itisessentialformothersto prioritize their mental wellness through self-care, well beyond the extra-long bathroom breaks. Taking care of one's mental healthnotonlybenefitsthemoth- er but also positively impacts her children and family . The impor- tanceof self-careformotherscan- not be overstated. Call it societal pressure, generational trauma, or the impact of social media – the end result is that motherhood often involves putting the needs of children and family before one's own. However, neglecting self-care can lead to emotional exhaustion, burnout, and a de- cline in mental well-being. It is crucial for mothers to recognize that their mental health matters andthatself-careisnotselfishbut necessary for their overall well- being. When mothers prioritize self-care,theyarebetterequipped to handle the daily challenges of parenting and are more emotion- ally available for their children. Therearepracticalself-carestrat- egies that I would like to share, and implore you to implement in your life on priority: ESTABLISHING BOUNDARIES Setting boundaries helps moth- ers maintain a balance between their personal needs and the de- mands of motherhood. This in- cludes learning to say no, dele- gating tasks, and carving out personal time. You cannot do it all. So if the child gets some ex- tra TV time on one day , or misses out on school one day because you went out of town on a Yoga retreat over a weekend... it's OK! TAKING TIME FOR YOURSELF Allocating regular time for ac- tivities that bring joy and relaxa- tion is vital. Whether it’s read- ing a book, going to Zumba classes with friends, engaging in a hobby, or simply taking a walk in the park - dedicating time for oneself allows mothers to re- charge and rejuvenate. During the ongoing vacations, I just put my daughter in a Summer Camp much against her wishes, and took the 2 hours she was gone to have my own mini vacations! NURTURING SOCIAL CONNECTIONS Buildingasupportnetworkiscru- cial for maternal mental well-be- ing. Connecting with other moth- ers, joining support groups, or seeking therapy provides an out- let for sharing experiences, seek- ing guidance, and fostering social connectionsthatcombatisolation and loneliness. With growing nu- clear family setups, don’t shut yourself off. Join communities, initiate play dates or pick up the phone and call a friend! PRIORITIZING SLEEP AND REST Adequate sleep is essential for mental and physical health. My dark circles are a testament to this. Mothers should strive to es- tablish healthy sleep routines, take short breaks when needed, and seek support from partners, family members, or friends to en- sure they get sufficient rest. I couldnotmanagethisforthelong- est time, till I put my foot down and sent my husband and dog out of my sleep equation. I now wake up better rested and happier. SEEKING PROFESSIONAL HELP It's important for mothers to rec- ognize when they need profes- sional support. If feelings of anxiety, depression, or over- whelm persist, seeking therapy or counselling can be immensely helpful in managing mental health challenges. I am the first to admit this. Therapy has helped me calm my frayed nerves and realise that my child is just being a child, and I am the one who needs to work on my- self and remain a calm happy person. Rest will follow. AND WHAT IS THIS REST THAT FOLLOWS? A positive ripple effect on their children and family . A mentally healthy mother is better equipped to provide emotional support, create a nurturing environment, and model healthy coping mecha- nisms for her children. Children benefitfromhavingamotherwho isphysicallyandemotionallypre- sent, as it fosters a secure attach- mentandpromotestheir own well-being. It’s a well-known fact that a parent should lead by example. So I wantmydaughtertoseeamother who takes care of herself physi- cally and emotionally because that's what she will do for herself when she is an adult. Let us empower ourselves to em- brace self-care as an essential part of our journey. A mentally healthy mother is the founda- tion for a thriving family.
