CRISIS IN BUREAUCRACY
ED’s action on IAS Dr Subodh shocks entire bureaucracy!
Rajendra Chhabra
Jaipur
ovember 3,
2023, will go
down in the
state’s administrative his-
tory as one of the most
remembereddaysbecause
anewrecord,ofsorts,was
created on this day when
a central investigative
agencyconductedasearch
in the rooms of the minis-
ter and senior IAS in the
Secretariat. In fact, the
state’s own investigative
agency ACB has never
checked the room of the
state Secretariat.
It may be that a search
by investigative agen-
cies, of homes and even
government offices or
any other place outside
the secretariat, may not
be considered to be a ma-
jor action, but ED’s entry
in the Secretariat on No-
vember 3 was definitely
an uncommon develop-
ment. In fact, some peo-
ple believe that ED’s ac-
tion has tarnished the
honour of the Secretariat.
When MP Kirodi Lal
Meena levelled allega-
tions of major corruption
in Jal Jeevan Mission,
since then it has been sus-
pected that anything can
happen. But a raid on
politicians’houses in oth-
ercasesandasearchinthe
home as well as the office
of ACS rank senior bu-
reaucrat Subodh Agrawal
aretwocompletelydiffer-
ent things. The develop-
ment has shocked entire
state bureaucracy.
IAS Subodh Agrawal,
since the beginning of his
career, has never been on
important posts. He has
definitelyservedasprivate
secretary to union minis-
ters, but in spite of his
umpteen efforts he did not
get a call for deputation to
centre. In fact, the state
government even helped
himonceinthismattergo-
ing out of the way.
In the current govern-
ment, his hope of getting
important posts were an-
swered when one after
the other he was given
prime postings i.e. Indus-
tries, Energy, Mines,
PHED and Irrigation.
Inthelureofworkingin
important and major de-
partments,Agrawalagreed
to work under his junior
Niranjan Arya as Chief
Secretary. This too has
happenedforthefirsttime.
In the five years, the
type of controversial and
audacious decisions he
took, has shocked senior
IAS posted in the Secre-
tariat. In fact, the finance
department even stopped
tenders worth over one
thousand crore rupees
due to various irregulari-
ties in Jal Jeevan Mission.
Now all eyes are on
ED and the nature and
depth of action it takes in
the matter!

An unusual incident has
grabbed attention as the
local administration has
issued a notice to a deity
for alleged violation of
the model code of con-
duct. The notice per-
tains to the organization
of an election meeting
within a temple.
In this curious situa-
tion, it’s not the political
candidate but the deity
himself who is under
scrutiny in the eyes of the
authorities. The notice
was served by the Re-
turning Officer, who spe-
cifically addressed Lord
Munni Ji Maharaj and
asked for his response by
November 10.
He also said that fail-
ure to comply may result
in action taken.
BJP ENFORCES DISCIPLINE: SANDEEP DAYMA
EXPELLED FOR ANTI-PARTY STATEMENTS
The BJP in Rajasthan on Sunday expelled a
party leader in Alwar, Sandeep Dayma, over
his remarks on gurdwaras and mosques at a
recent rally in the Tijara assembly constituency. The
decision to expel Dayma was announced by Onkar
Singh Lakhawat, the chairman of the Rajasthan BJP’s
disciplinary committee. “Sandeep Dayma has been
expelled from the party on the direction of the state
president for making a statement against the ideology
of the party,” Lakhawat said. The development comes
after widespread criticism of Dayma’s remark at the
rally in Tijara during the filing of nomination papers
by BJP candidate Baba Balaknath for the November
25 Rajasthan assembly polls. “How many mosques,
gurdwaras have been built here! This will become an
ulcer for us in the future. That is why it’s our duty that
this ulcer be uprooted and thrown out, and Baba Balak
Nathji win by a huge majority,” Dayma had said.

Kin of RPSC members are also in fray in the
assembly polls. Congress gave ticket to Shehzad
Khan from Sursagar. Shehzad is
the son of Ayub Khan who lost in
the last election. Recently Ayub
Khan was made a RPSC member.
There is a similar connection with
former Chief secretary and
Niranjan Arya also. Niranjan Arya’s
wife Sangeeta is also a RPSC member. Now Niranjan
Arya is a Congress candidate from Sojat. Sangeeta Arya
has previously been a Congress candidate.
RLP on Sunday

candidates from
Pahlodi, Bagru,
Jaisalmer, Sanchore,
Hindaun, Khandar,
Taranagar, Churu,

Rajesh Mandiya left
RLP and resigned as
the spokesperson.
The cancellation of
Ashok Parnami’s
ticket has sparked major
reactions. Several
leaders and workers
from Adarsh Nagar seat
are resigning from their
positions. In the BJP
office, loud slogans and
protests have been
witnessed. Many of his
backers have gathered
at his residence.
Interesting scenes in Rajasthan Assembly
elections. 2 officials of FORTI are face to face.
One is the patron of FORTI and the other is the working
president. Both officials face to face from Jaipur’s
Adarsh Nagar seat. One is contesting on Congress
ticket and other on BJP ticket. Congress candidate from
Adarsh Nagar MLA Rafeek Khan is patron of FORTI
while BJP has fielded Ravi Nayyar from Adarsh Nagar,
who is working president of FORTI.
This will probably
be the first such
election in the State
when husband and wife
will face each other. Rita
Singh is fighting against
her husband, the current
MLA Virendra Singh in
Dantaramgarh.
Congress has once
again fielded Virendra
Singh. While JJP has
given ticket to Rita
Singh. Both candidates
are the son and
daughter-in-law of
former State Congress
President Narayan
Singh. This contest of
Dantaramgarh will be
very interesting.
Virendra Singh had also
filed his nomination.

storms and
you are not
y o u r s e l f
when you are drowned in
a storm. At that moment
nothing seems to work;
your devotion, love, prac-
tices, ideals, everything
falls apart. Even when the
storms have subsided,
their memory disturbs
you. You feel as if you are
in a burning furnace and
you are unable to put out
the fire. The more you try
to calm yourself, the more
restless you become.
You are what you are
only in between two
storms. So how settled
you are is determined by
how less frequently
storms arise in your life.
When the storms arise,
the breath becomes heav-
ier, the body becomes un-
bearable and you are not
at all aware of your mind.
You are totally thrown off
balance.
How to free yourself
from the grip of storms?
This is the only basic
problem in this universe.
The first thing is to be-
come aware of it and stop
regretting it. Like waves
come and go, storms in
your life too will subside.
No one storm can be there
for ever. One storm comes
and subsides, another
comes and subsides and it
goes on.As the storm sub-
side, you experience that
inner cool, soft, delicate
aspect of yourself. In that
space of calm, all the anx-
iety, fear, feverishness
lose their grip on you and
you become yourself
again. Love dawns. Your
mind is like a whirlwind
and its subsiding is love.
When you stop resist-
ing the storms of life and
start accepting them with
open arms, they will sub-
side on their own. That is
the purpose of all spiritual
practices or sadhana and
meditation. When you re-
alise that somebody is re-
ally caring for you, you
get deep rest and all fears
and insecurities drop.
When you relax and be
yourself, you can put off
the fire.
You keep running away
from small things -- your
feelings, sensations, de-
sires… and this lead to
more feverishness. Real-
ise that like the ocean can-
not be there without the
waves, storms are inevita-
ble in your life. Every
storm touches you some-
where and makes you
grow bigger. It destroys
something small in you
and makes you stronger
every time. A storm pulls
you out of your likes and
dislikes and purifies you.
So accept all that comes
with both arms open. This
is crucifixion. If you say
you cannot take them, you
are resisting and that
leads to more storms in
your life.
You are much bigger
than all the waves and
commotions. They all rise
within you and they can in
no way destroy you. So,
let them be. Even when
the storms come, you are
still in the same ocean, as
deep as ever. It’s not that
your depth is there only
when you are calm.
This realization is the
culmination of knowl-
edge. When this knowl-
edge dawns, you rise
above events; you grow
out of them. Everybody in
the world goes through
crisis, insecurities, confu-
sions, jealousy, anger, ha-
tred, etc. It’s like drown-
ing in the ocean of life.
But the person with the
lifejacket can survive
even the worst turmoil. So
keep your lifejacket of
knowledge handy. Realise
that an individual can be
drowned, but the infinity
is indestructible. Being
immortal means looking
at your infinite nature.
That is why the saying,
“Die before your death.”
Just observe yourself in
a bigger perspective and
realise that in the ocean of
your life, many waves are
rising and dissolving. All
the waves that you see are
all your own forms. It’s
like watching wrestling
on television and imagin-
ing that both the wrestlers
are yourself. In life, you
act in many forms, some-
times completely oppo-
site. Every name and form
that is given in this ocean
is part of the conscious-
ness. People are like float-
ing shells in the ocean of
life.
Do not be in a hurry to
get rid of the storms, be
with them. Looking for
perfection creates imper-
fection inside you. If you
are peaceful, everything
around you becomes
peaceful. You are the cen-
tre of this universe. Wher-
ever you go, you carry
your own mind, and
wherever you go, you will
create your own storms. It
may appear to be calm
and quiet for sometime
but a storm will surface
sooner or later. Unless
you realise this, nothing
will hold. There is no oth-
er permanent solution.
Don’t resist the storms;
instead see them as an
amazing play of your per-
sonality.

ANTONY BLINKEN’S
STRONG MESSAGE
ON TERRORISM
CJI’s FORMULA TO END
AN ONGOING DEBATE
merica’s Secretary of StateAntony Blinken’s
refusal to press for a ceasefire in Gaza should
come as no surprise. Blinken publicly re-
jected Jordan and Egypt’s insistence on cessation of
hostilities by Israel in which thousands of civilians
have been killed. In what can be described as a snub
to the foreign ministers of the twoArab countries and
others calling for truce Blinken said that a ceasefire
will benefit Hamas which can regroup and launch
another attack. “Aceasefire now would simply leave
Hamas in place, able to regroup and repeat what it
did on October 7,” Blinken said.
The statement makes it obvious that the US won’t
press Israel for ceasing hostilities until Hamas has
been decimated. This was America’s approach in
dealing with ISIS and also al-Qaida after NewYork’s
iconic twin towers were destroyed. That is the only
way to tackle terrorism. Islamic nations must now
understand that harbouring terrorists and promoting
terrorism can be self-destructive.
A
he debate over separation of powers between
judiciary and legislature will continue till the
issue of collegiums system of judges’ ap-
pointment is settled to the satisfaction of both. How-
ever, the way suggested by Chief Justice of India DY
Chandrachud holds promise of a way forward with-
out compromising the independence of either the
legislature or judiciary. What the CJI said makes
practical sense too as regular denigrating the judici-
ary undermines its authority.
The CJI said, “There is a dividing line between
what the legislature can do and the legislature cannot
do” when the court
passes a judgment. A
judgment “which
points out deficien-
cies in the law” the
legislature can al-
ways enact a fresh
law. Incidentally,
something similar
happened when the
CJI became part of a
committee to appoint
Election Commis-
sioners. The govern-
ment used its prerog-
ative and brought in
a new legislation as
per which the CJI
had no role in ECs’
appointment. Justice
Chandrachud cited
the example of a
1951 judgment
which ruled against
reservation in educa-
tional institutions. Parliament amended the law and
extended reservation in educational institutions.
That’s a better option than overruling a court’s judg-
ment which is “completely impermissible”.
Justice Chandrachud has been stoutly defending
separation of power while the government wants a
bigger say in the appointment of judges. Separation
of power is important as it prevents concentration of
power in the hands of any of the three pillars of
government. The Supreme Court in the Kesavanan-
da Bharati case also ruled in favour of the basic fea-
ture, separation of powers, of the Constitution which
is good for democracy.

STUBBLE BURNING IN HARYANA, UP, CAUSES
SPIKE IN DELHI’S AIR POLLUTION: GOPAL RAI
PRIMARY SCHOOLS TO REMAIN SHUT TILL NOV 10,
SAYS DELHI MINISTER AMID SEVERE AIR POLLUTION
New Delhi: Amid the spike in air pollution, Delhi En-
vironment Minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai said
on Sunday the stubble burning in Punjab does not
have as much impact on the national capital as the smoke
coming from farm fires in Haryana and Uttar
Pradesh. He said as per the Centre’s data,
cases of stubble burning in Punjab have been
reduced. “Central government figures show
that less stubble has been burned in Punjab
this year in comparison to last year. Punjab’s
stubble smoke does not have as much im-
pact on Delhi as that of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. This is
because there is no movement in the wind. Only if the wind
blows, the smoke of Punjab will reach Delhi. Right now,
there is smoke all around Delhi. The smoke of stubble from
Haryana and Uttar Pradesh is reaching Delhi,” he said.
Meanwhile, on the fourth consecutive day, the air quality in
Delhi remained in the ‘Severe’ category on Sunday.
New Delhi: With the pollution in the national capital
still in the ‘severe’ category, Delhi govt on Sunday an-
nounced that the primary schools will remain closed
till November 10 while the students of Class 6 to 12 are be-
ing given the option of shifting to online mode.
In a post on X, Delhi Minister and AAP leader
Atishi said, “As pollution levels continue to
remain high, primary schools in Delhi will stay
closed till 10th November. For Grade 6-12,
schools are being given the option of shifting
to online classes.” On November 2, Delhi CM
Arvind Kejriwal announced that the govt and private schools
in the national capital will remain closed for two days (till
Nov 4) due to rising pollution levels. In yet another smoggy
day, the air quality in Delhi-NCR continued to remain in the
‘severe’ category on Sunday with overall Air Quality Index
at 482, according to data from the System of Air Quality and
Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).

Raj Assembly polls: Electoral equation of
‘winning candidate’ weighs heavy on ideology
Manoj Mathur
Jaipur
ThisAssembly election of
the State will be remem-
bered for the politics of
‘Ayaram Gayaram’. Con-
gress and BJP fulfilled
one of their criteria re-
garding ticket distribution
that they want a winning
candidate at any cost.
Even if its history does
not match or does not
match the ideology of the
party. Due to this, in the
last round of ticket distri-
bution on Sunday, former
MP Colonel Sonaram re-
joined Congress and cur-
rent Congress MLA Gir-
raj Singh Malinga joined
BJP. It was also decided
that Sonaram would be
the Congress candidate
from Gudhamalani and
Malinga would be the
BJP candidate from Bari.
Not just these two, a
similar picture was seen
every other day in thisAs-
sembly election. In al-
most every list of BJPand
Congress, tickets were
given to such politicians
who had contested the
previous elections against
the party from another
party or as an independent
candidate.
Congress gave tickets
to more than 10 candi-
dates who won last time
from BSP and Independ-
ents. At the same time,
BJPgave tickets to defec-
tor Darshan Singh Gurjar
from Karauli and Ramni-
vas Meena from Todab-
him the very next day of
joining the party.
Congress did the same
and gave ticket from Kis-
hangarh to Vikas Choud-
hary, who left BJP after
not getting the ticket, and
as soon as he joined Con-
gress. Such a long list has
appeared in this time’s as-
sembly elections.
This is a clear message
that no one is untouchable
in politics. If any wing of
the opposition camp is ca-
pable of defeating him,
then the parties have no
hesitation in handing over
their flag to him. Victory
in elections is the ultimate
truth and principle.
Col Sonaram Choudhary (retd) joins Congress in presence of SS Randhawa,
Amrrita Dhawan others at PCC HQs in Jaipur on Sunday.

Mustard, Cottage Cheese, and Weight Loss?
Truthof TiktokTrend:
ustard and cot-
tage cheese may
not sound like
the most appetiz-
ing of combina-
tions, but this
gastronomic fad
has taken Tiktok
by storm. The craze, which was start-
ed by influencer Tiffany Magee, in-
volves individuals dipping sausage
and raw vegetables in enormous
amounts of mustard and cottage
cheese.
Not only are they stating that it's
delicious, but many are also claiming
that it's helped them shed large
amounts of weight - as well as re-
duced bloating and energy levels. Ma-
gee claims to have shed 80 pounds by
eating the meal every day.
CAN THE MUSTARD AND
COTTAGE CHEESE DIET
HELP TO LOSE WEIGHT?
While the nutritional benefits of eat-
ing mustard and cottage cheese reg-
ularly are debatable, many people
claim on social media that they have
more energy, are less bloated, and
feel better overall since eating this
manner.
WHAT COULD BE THE REASON
BEHIND THIS?
“This could be because they are no
longer consuming other foods that
contributed to bloating, rather than the
beneficial effects of these foods them-
selves,” Hope explained. “For exam-
ple, if an individual’s diet was high in
salt, sugars, and refined carbohydrates
and they start consuming more cottage
cheese, vegetables, and mustard,
they’re likely to feel better because the
salt and sugars have been reduced.”
Smith concurred and stated that it
is dependent on your previous diet.
“If you went from eating a highly
processed lunch (think burgers and
fries) or an incomplete meal like a
bagel with cream cheese, then eating
protein and antioxidant-rich vegeta-
bles will make you feel better,” she
said. Furthermore, vegetables are
abundant in fiber, which encourages
more regular bowel motions and, as
a result, less bloating.
HOW DIET TRENDS MIGHT
PROMOTE HARMFUL
RESTRICTED EATING HABITS
So the mustard and cottage cheese
trend isn’t entirely negative. It con-
tains a lot of protein, calcium, and
fiber. It should not be used as a weight
loss aid and should only be a tiny el-
ement of a well-balanced diet. Other-
wise, it may promote restricted eating
habits.
If a person consumes this daily,
Hope believes there is a risk of ele-
vating these meals to a “safe” pedes-
tal, making other foods feel less
“safe.” She believes eating the same
things daily can lead to negative at-
titudes toward other foods.
HEALTHY ALTERNATIVES
TO THE MUSTARD AND
COTTAGE CHEESE DIET
Arobust salad, according to Smith, is
a terrific choice. “You could use a
pre-cooked bean blend, either frozen
or from a BPA-Free can, pre-cooked
quinoa or brown rice, sliced avocado
or a small handful of nuts for healthy
fats, leftover veggies from the night
before, dressing of your choice, or a
little olive oil and vinegar,” she sug-
gests. Another quick and nutritious
option she likes is a chicken wrap.
“Opt for a sprouted grain tortilla,
leftover grilled chicken (rotisserie or
pre-cooked grilled chicken strips
work too!), mixed greens, hummus,
and a little feta, with veggies on the
side,” she suggests.
These selections are quick to pre-
pare and have an excellent combina-
tion of proteins, fiber, complex car-
bohydrates, and healthy fats. When it
comes to eating healthy, especially
while trying to lose weight, many
people become fixated on one cuisine
or fast cure. However, restricting
your diet in this manner is not good
for your health and may lead to an
unhealthy connection with food. “It’s
really important to find a balance
when it comes to nutrition and healthy
eating,” Hope says.

cottage-cheese-and-weight-loss-213192-1.htm
Let us begin with the nice things. Nutritionally, the mustard and cottage
cheese trend has redeeming characteristics. Cottage cheese is an
excellent and convenient source of protein and calcium, says Danielle
Smith, a registered dietitian at Top Nutrition Coaching. The sausage
also contains protein, which is essential for long-term weight loss and
promotes stable blood sugar levels, more consistent energy levels, and
focus throughout the day. Meanwhile, the vegetables produce fiber, which
aids in the sense of fullness. They also help the liver operate and combat
inflammation. Even mustard has certain advantages. Mustard can be
a great way to add flavor to foods (like cottage cheese) without
adding a lot of calories or unhealthy fats, added Smith.
BENEFITS AND DRAWBACKS OF THE
MUSTARD AND COTTAGE CHEESE DIET DRAWBACKS
Jenna Hope, a registered dietician,
had worries. If the diet is restricted to
vegetables, mustard, a sausage, and
cottage cheese, there may be a risk of
nutritional deficiencies due to a lack of
variety, she noted. She also stated that
eating the same foods every day can
contribute to poor gut health owing to a
lack of variety.

Rajendra Chhabra Jaipur ovember 3, 2023, will go down in the state’s administrative his- tory as one of the most remembereddaysbecause anewrecord, ofsorts, was created on this day when a central investigative agencyconductedasearch in the rooms of the minis- ter and senior IAS in the Secretariat. In fact, the state’s own investigative agency ACB has never checked the room of the state Secretariat. It may be that a search by investigative agen- cies, of homes and even government offices or any other place outside the secretariat, may not be considered to be a ma- jor action, but ED’s entry in the Secretariat on No- vember 3 was definitely an uncommon develop- ment. In fact, some peo- ple believe that ED’s ac- tion has tarnished the honour of the Secretariat. When MP Kirodi Lal Meena levelled allega- tions of major corruption in Jal Jeevan Mission, since then it has been sus- pected that anything can happen. Inthelureofworkingin important and major de- partments,Agrawalagreed to work under his junior Niranjan Arya as Chief Secretary. This too has happenedforthefirsttime. In the five years, the type of controversial and audacious decisions he took, has shocked senior IAS posted in the Secre- tariat. In fact, the finance department even stopped tenders worth over one thousand crore rupees due to various irregulari- ties in Jal Jeevan Mission. • 4. ife is often caught up in storms and you are not y o u r s e l f when you are drowned in a storm. At that moment nothing seems to work; your devotion, love, prac- tices, ideals, everything falls apart. Even when the storms have subsided, their memory disturbs you. You feel as if you are in a burning furnace and you are unable to put out the fire. The more you try to calm yourself, the more restless you become. You are what you are only in between two storms. So how settled you are is determined by how less frequently storms arise in your life. When the storms arise, the breath becomes heav- ier, the body becomes un- bearable and you are not at all aware of your mind. You are totally thrown off balance. How to free yourself from the grip of storms? This is the only basic problem in this universe. The first thing is to be- come aware of it and stop regretting it. Like waves come and go, storms in your life too will subside. No one storm can be there for ever. One storm comes and subsides, another comes and subsides and it goes on.As the storm sub- side, you experience that inner cool, soft, delicate aspect of yourself. In that space of calm, all the anx- iety, fear, feverishness lose their grip on you and you become yourself again. Love dawns. Your mind is like a whirlwind and its subsiding is love. When you stop resist- ing the storms of life and start accepting them with open arms, they will sub- side on their own. That is the purpose of all spiritual practices or sadhana and meditation. When you re- alise that somebody is re- ally caring for you, you get deep rest and all fears and insecurities drop. When you relax and be yourself, you can put off the fire. You keep running away from small things -- your feelings, sensations, de- sires… and this lead to more feverishness. Real- ise that like the ocean can- not be there without the waves, storms are inevita- ble in your life. Every storm touches you some- where and makes you grow bigger. It destroys something small in you and makes you stronger every time. A storm pulls you out of your likes and dislikes and purifies you. So accept all that comes with both arms open. This is crucifixion. If you say you cannot take them, you are resisting and that leads to more storms in your life. You are much bigger than all the waves and commotions. They all rise within you and they can in no way destroy you. So, let them be. Even when the storms come, you are still in the same ocean, as deep as ever. It’s not that your depth is there only when you are calm. This realization is the culmination of knowl- edge. When this knowl- edge dawns, you rise above events; you grow out of them. Everybody in the world goes through crisis, insecurities, confu- sions, jealousy, anger, ha- tred, etc. It’s like drown- ing in the ocean of life. But the person with the lifejacket can survive even the worst turmoil. So keep your lifejacket of knowledge handy. Realise that an individual can be drowned, but the infinity is indestructible. Being immortal means looking at your infinite nature. That is why the saying, “Die before your death.” Just observe yourself in a bigger perspective and realise that in the ocean of your life, many waves are rising and dissolving. All the waves that you see are all your own forms. It’s like watching wrestling on television and imagin- ing that both the wrestlers are yourself. In life, you act in many forms, some- times completely oppo- site. Every name and form that is given in this ocean is part of the conscious- ness. People are like float- ing shells in the ocean of life. Do not be in a hurry to get rid of the storms, be with them. Looking for perfection creates imper- fection inside you. If you are peaceful, everything around you becomes peaceful. You are the cen- tre of this universe. Wher- ever you go, you carry your own mind, and wherever you go, you will create your own storms. It may appear to be calm and quiet for sometime but a storm will surface sooner or later. Unless you realise this, nothing will hold. There is no oth- er permanent solution. Don’t resist the storms; instead see them as an amazing play of your per- sonality. THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL TOP TWEETS SPIRITUAL SPEAK Speak only endearing speech, speech that is welcomed. Speech, when it brings no evil to others, is a pleasant thing. BUDDHA CARRY YOUR OWN MIND Just observe yourself in a bigger perspective and realise that in the ocean of your life, many waves are rising and dissolving. All the waves that you see are all your own forms. It’s like watching wrestling on television and imagining that both the wrestlers are yourself. In life, you act in many forms, sometimes completely opposite. Every name and form that is given in this ocean is part of the consciousness. People are like floating shells in the ocean of life. Do not be in a hurry to get rid of the storms, be with them. Looking for perfection creates imper- fection inside you. If you are peaceful, everything around you becomes peaceful. You are the centre of this universe. Wherever you go, you carry your own mind, and wherever you go, you will create your own storms. It may appear to be calm and quiet for sometime but a storm will surface sooner or later. Unless you realise this, nothing will hold. There is no other permanent solution. Don’t resist the storms; instead see them as an amazing play of your personality. LIVING WITH THE STORMSOFLIFE How to free yourself from the grip of storms? This is the only basic problem in this universe. The first thing is to become aware of it and stop regretting it. Like waves come and go, storms in your life too will subside. No one storm can be there for ever. One storm comes and subsides, another comes and subsides and it goes on. As the storm subside, you experience that inner cool, soft, delicate aspect of yourself. In that space of calm, all the anxiety, fear, feverishness lose their grip on you and you become yourself again. Love dawns. Your mind is like a whirlwind and its subsiding is love IN-DEPTH ANTONY BLINKEN’S STRONG MESSAGE ON TERRORISM CJI’s FORMULA TO END AN ONGOING DEBATE merica’s Secretary of StateAntony Blinken’s refusal to press for a ceasefire in Gaza should come as no surprise. Blinken publicly re- jected Jordan and Egypt’s insistence on cessation of hostilities by Israel in which thousands of civilians have been killed. In what can be described as a snub to the foreign ministers of the twoArab countries and others calling for truce Blinken said that a ceasefire will benefit Hamas which can regroup and launch another attack. “Aceasefire now would simply leave Hamas in place, able to regroup and repeat what it did on October 7,” Blinken said. The statement makes it obvious that the US won’t press Israel for ceasing hostilities until Hamas has been decimated. This was America’s approach in dealing with ISIS and also al-Qaida after NewYork’s iconic twin towers were destroyed. That is the only way to tackle terrorism. Islamic nations must now understand that harbouring terrorists and promoting terrorism can be self-destructive. A he debate over separation of powers between judiciary and legislature will continue till the issue of collegiums system of judges’ ap- pointment is settled to the satisfaction of both. How- ever, the way suggested by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud holds promise of a way forward with- out compromising the independence of either the legislature or judiciary. What the CJI said makes practical sense too as regular denigrating the judici- ary undermines its authority. The CJI said, “There is a dividing line between what the legislature can do and the legislature cannot do” when the court passes a judgment. A judgment “which points out deficien- cies in the law” the legislature can al- ways enact a fresh law. Incidentally, something similar happened when the CJI became part of a committee to appoint Election Commis- sioners. The govern- ment used its prerog- ative and brought in a new legislation as per which the CJI had no role in ECs’ appointment. Justice Chandrachud cited the example of a 1951 judgment which ruled against reservation in educa- tional institutions. Parliament amended the law and extended reservation in educational institutions. That’s a better option than overruling a court’s judg- ment which is “completely impermissible”. Justice Chandrachud has been stoutly defending separation of power while the government wants a bigger say in the appointment of judges. Separation of power is important as it prevents concentration of power in the hands of any of the three pillars of government. The Supreme Court in the Kesavanan- da Bharati case also ruled in favour of the basic fea- ture, separation of powers, of the Constitution which is good for democracy. The 49-year-old diplo- mat oversaw the Nehru Centre’s transition to several remote events over the course of the Covid lockdown period, extending the reach of the cultural wing of the Indian mission to a more UK-wide and interna- tional audience. As he heads back to his home city of Mumbai after his term this week, Tripathi expects London to re- main a second home as one of the most “extraor- dinary” cities of the world and his wife Shi- vani’s connection as a British citizen. “The Nehru Centre is a mas- sive asset that has a tre- mendous legacy, and I am very proud that I got the opportunity to add my own small contribu- tion to this great institu- tion,” said Tripathi “I think it’s a wonder- ful time to be in the space of culture in India, and the Nehru Centre can play an important role. B Israeli warplanes strike Gaza refugee camp, 52 people killed Agencies Gaza City Israeli warplanes struck a refugee camp in the Gaza Strip early Sunday, kill- ing 52 people and wound- ing dozens, health offi- cials said. The strike came as Israel said it would press on with its offensive to crush the ter- ritory’s Hamas rulers, de- spite U.S. appeals for a pause to get aid to desper- ate civilians. Israel has rejected the idea of halting its offen- sive, even for brief hu- manitarian pauses pro- posed by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken during his current tour of the region. Gaza’s Health Ministry said more than 9,700 Palestinians have been killed in the territory in nearly a month of war, and that number is likely to rise as Israeli troops advance into dense, urban neighborhoods. Al-Aqsa Martyr’s Hospital officials in Deir Al-Balah, said that the blast claimed the lives of around 52 people. The missile, which the Federation of American Scientists says is de- signed to carry up to six nuclear warheads, was launched from an under- water position in the White Sea off Russia’s northern coast and hit a target thousands of kilo- metres away on the Kam- chatka peninsula in the Russian Far East, the de- fence ministry said. “Firing a ballistic mis- sile is the final element of state tests, after which a decision will be made to accept the cruiser into the Navy,” a ministry state- ment said. Due to this, in the last round of ticket distri- bution on Sunday, former MP Colonel Sonaram re- joined Congress and cur- rent Congress MLA Gir- raj Singh Malinga joined BJP. Truthof TiktokTrend: ustard and cot- tage cheese may not sound like the most appetiz- ing of combina- tions, but this gastronomic fad has taken Tiktok by storm. The craze, which was start- ed by influencer Tiffany Magee, in- volves individuals dipping sausage and raw vegetables in enormous amounts of mustard and cottage cheese. Not only are they stating that it's delicious, but many are also claiming that it's helped them shed large amounts of weight - as well as re- duced bloating and energy levels. Ma- gee claims to have shed 80 pounds by eating the meal every day. CAN THE MUSTARD AND COTTAGE CHEESE DIET HELP TO LOSE WEIGHT? While the nutritional benefits of eat- ing mustard and cottage cheese reg- ularly are debatable, many people claim on social media that they have more energy, are less bloated, and feel better overall since eating this manner. WHAT COULD BE THE REASON BEHIND THIS? “This could be because they are no longer consuming other foods that contributed to bloating, rather than the beneficial effects of these foods them- selves,” Hope explained. “For exam- ple, if an individual’s diet was high in salt, sugars, and refined carbohydrates and they start consuming more cottage cheese, vegetables, and mustard, they’re likely to feel better because the salt and sugars have been reduced.” Smith concurred and stated that it is dependent on your previous diet. “If you went from eating a highly processed lunch (think burgers and fries) or an incomplete meal like a bagel with cream cheese, then eating protein and antioxidant-rich vegeta- bles will make you feel better,” she said. Furthermore, vegetables are abundant in fiber, which encourages more regular bowel motions and, as a result, less bloating. HOW DIET TRENDS MIGHT PROMOTE HARMFUL RESTRICTED EATING HABITS So the mustard and cottage cheese trend isn’t entirely negative. It con- tains a lot of protein, calcium, and fiber. It should not be used as a weight loss aid and should only be a tiny el- ement of a well-balanced diet. Other- wise, it may promote restricted eating habits. If a person consumes this daily, Hope believes there is a risk of ele- vating these meals to a “safe” pedes- tal, making other foods feel less “safe.” She believes eating the same things daily can lead to negative at- titudes toward other foods. HEALTHY ALTERNATIVES TO THE MUSTARD AND COTTAGE CHEESE DIET Arobust salad, according to Smith, is a terrific choice. “You could use a pre-cooked bean blend, either frozen or from a BPA-Free can, pre-cooked quinoa or brown rice, sliced avocado or a small handful of nuts for healthy fats, leftover veggies from the night before, dressing of your choice, or a little olive oil and vinegar,” she sug- gests. Another quick and nutritious option she likes is a chicken wrap. “Opt for a sprouted grain tortilla, leftover grilled chicken (rotisserie or pre-cooked grilled chicken strips work too!), mixed greens, hummus, and a little feta, with veggies on the side,” she suggests. These selections are quick to pre- pare and have an excellent combina- tion of proteins, fiber, complex car- bohydrates, and healthy fats. When it comes to eating healthy, especially while trying to lose weight, many people become fixated on one cuisine or fast cure. However, restricting your diet in this manner is not good for your health and may lead to an unhealthy connection with food. “It’s really important to find a balance when it comes to nutrition and healthy eating,” Hope says. Dr. Trupti Shirole cityfirst@firstindia.co.in M Source : https://www.medindia.net/news/life- Source : https://www.medindia.net/news/life- styleandwellness/truth-of-tiktok-trend-mustard- styleandwellness/truth-of-tiktok-trend-mustard- cottage-cheese-and-weight-loss-213192-1.htm cottage-cheese-and-weight-loss-213192-1.htm Let us begin with the nice things. Nutritionally, the mustard and cottage cheese trend has redeeming characteristics. Cottage cheese is an excellent and convenient source of protein and calcium, says Danielle Smith, a registered dietitian at Top Nutrition Coaching. The sausage also contains protein, which is essential for long-term weight loss and promotes stable blood sugar levels, more consistent energy levels, and focus throughout the day. Meanwhile, the vegetables produce fiber, which aids in the sense of fullness. They also help the liver operate and combat inflammation. Even mustard has certain advantages. Mustard can be a great way to add flavor to foods (like cottage cheese) without adding a lot of calories or unhealthy fats, added Smith. BENEFITS AND DRAWBACKS OF THE MUSTARD AND COTTAGE CHEESE DIET DRAWBACKS Jenna Hope, a registered dietician, had worries. If the diet is restricted to vegetables, mustard, a sausage, and cottage cheese, there may be a risk of nutritional deficiencies due to a lack of variety, she noted. She also stated that eating the same foods every day can contribute to poor gut health owing to a lack of variety. Face Day of the
