Kota: The politics of Kota BJP seems to be changing
as former MLA Prahlad Gunjal, who is considered a
staunch opponent in politics, visited the Speaker Camp
Office in Shaktinagar of Kota city to meet Lok Sabha
Speaker Om Birla. Both the BJP leaders talked for hours
in closed rooms but Gunjal refused to give details of the
conversation. However, while talking to the media,
Gunjal said that Birla is his senior leader and local MP
and he has come to discuss only about the elections.
Gunjal is a strong contender for BJP ticket from Kota
North, but his ticket is on hold. The meeting of Gunjal
with Birla is important in this aspect. Bhanwar S Charan
Jhalawar: BJP will follow the path of Hindutva in the
assembly elections! Vasundhara Raje appealed from
the stage after the program at the BJP meeting in Jhalawar
to the song-music group to enjoy Hanuman Chalisa. When
Raje appealed, it was being sung from the stage - ‘Jo Ram
ko laye the, hum unko layenge’. Later, collective Hanuman
Chalisa recitation took place in the sports complex in the
presence of Raje. Bhanwar S Charan
Churu: CPI (M)
candidate from
Taranagar, Nirmal Prajapat,
was sent to judicial custody.
A case was filed against Praj-
apat during a protest in
Bidasar in 2019. Prajapat
appeared in Bidasar Civil
Court on Friday. Civil court
ordered to send Nirmal
Prajapat to judicial custody.
Prajapat said, “This step
was taken due to political
malice.” Still he will file
nomination from Taranagar
on 6 November.
Jaipur: Only 2 days left
for nominations to be
filed. Now nominations will be
possible only on 4 6 Nov
but still BJP Cong could not
declare all candidates. Some
claimants filed nominations
without declaring the ticket.
But along with this, this
important question arises
before the political parties.
Couldn’t you even decide
your candidates in 5 years?
There was a claim to declare
the ticket in the first week of
Sept but it is still pending.

IN-DEPTH
UNEMPLOYMENT
IN RURAL AREAS
CAUSE FOR WORRY
ncreasing unemployment in rural areas
should be a cause for some concern for the
government. Centre for Monitoring Indian
Economy (CMIE) said in its latest report that the rise
in rural joblessness has pushed up India’s unemploy-
ment rate to its highest in two years. The overall rate
of unemployment rose from 7.09 percent in Septem-
ber to 10.05 percent in October, the highest since
May 2021. The encouraging find was the easing of
urban unemployment to 8.44, while the rural unem-
ployment jumped from 6.2 percent to 10.82. An of-
ficial report released in October put the country’s
unemployment rate for 2022-23 at 3.2 percent.
These figures cast a shadow on India’s growth and
strong economic indicators. But the contradiction in
rural-urban divide in terms of unemployment is at-
tributable to weak rainfall and consequent decline in
work opportunities in rural areas. On the other hand,
an uptick in manufacturing and consumption has en-
sured the easing of urban unemployment.

POTENTIAL RISKS OF AI
BRING NATIONS CLOSE
rtificial Intelligence is both — a boon and a
bane. It holds the promise of transforming
human life with improved well-being and, at
the same time, is a potential risk for users. Major
countries of the world, including India, got together
at Britain’s Bletchley Park to evolve a policy to tack-
le the dangers posed by Artificial Intelligence. Even
before the conference at Bletchley, US President Joe
Biden signed an executive order to prevent the spread
of harmful content generated by AI.
Biden’s decision was influenced by the film Mis-
sion Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part 1 in which
a malevolent AI ma-
nipulates video foot-
age and impersonates
human voices, as-
pects that highlighted
AI’s potential dan-
gers. The European
Union also proposes
tough laws to regu-
late AI content.
These developments
are a result of tech
leaders’ warning that
there is an “out of
control race” to cre-
ate systems beyond
anyone’s control.
The Bletchley Dec-
laration recognises
thatAI “poses signifi-
cant risks” and also
notes “the potential
for unforeseen risks
stemming from the
capability to manipu-
late content or gener-
ate deceptive content,” issues which the participating
countries found “critically important” and which need-
ed to be addressed. The 29 countries which participated
in the conference “resolved to sustain an inclusive
global dialogue…and to continue research on frontier
AI safety to ensure that the benefits of the technology
can be harnessed responsibly for the good of all”.
The most stark warning has come from Elon Musk
of X (formerly Twitter) who said that Artificial Intel-
ligence could even destroy civilization and is a risk to
humanity. The benefits ofAI make it a necessary evil.

PERSPECT VE 04
Jaipur, Saturday | November 4, 2023 www.firstindia.co.in firstindia.co.in/epapers/jaipur thefirstindia thefirstindia thefirstindia
he cricketing
fraternity is
running out
of superla-
tives to de-
scribe the Indian team’s
remarkable performances
in ICC World Cup 2023.
Though batsmen have re-
ceived lavish praises most
often, this time Indian
bowlers too have been ex-
ceptional. Their fearsome
hunting as a pack has put
India into the semifinals
without a single defeat and
in the last match too, they
enabled Team India to
crush Sri Lanka by a mas-
sive 302 runs.
As India heads to Eden
Gardens in Kolkata for its
encounter with an in-form
South African team, it is
heartening to note the ag-
gression of Indian fast
bowlers. Their control
over swing and seam is
like poetry in motion, dic-
tating the ball as per their
whims. Excelling with
each passing match and
topping their previous per-
formances one after the
other, the trio of Bumrah,
Siraj and Shami have been
brutal especially in the last
two matches. Bundling out
England and Lanka for
paltry 129 and 55 respec-
tively, Indian spearheads
have sent a deadly signal to
the rest of the teams!
So severe was the
thrashing to Sri Lanka that
it seemed like a repeat of
the Asia Cup final when
India had bowled them out
for 50 runs! Sri Lankan
captain Kusal Mendis’ de-
cision to bowl first took
most experts by surprise as
the conditions were suited
to bat first. His decision
seemed justified as Dilshan
Madhushaka removed In-
dian captain Rohit Sharma
off just the second ball of
the innings with a beautiful
out swinger. Both Kohli
and Shubman Gill found
the going tough in the first
5-6 overs but once they
settled down, owing to a
few missed chances in the
field by the Lankan field-
ers, runs came freely.
It was yet another even-
ing when fans expected a
record equalling century
from Kohli but it wasn’t to
be so. He fell just 12 runs
short of the landmark but
along with Gill, who also
missed his century falling
for 92, laid a solid founda-
tion for a massive score. It
was also a moment of reck-
oning for Shreyas who has
been under scrutiny for get-
ting out to short pitch bowl-
ing but he let his bat do the
talking by hitting a 56 ball
82 that was studded with 6
humongous sixes. India’s
357 looked like a mountain
to climb for the Lankans
against Indian bowlers.
The very first ball by
Bumrah scalped Pathum
Nissanka and it was a sorry
tale for the Sri Lankan
batsmen thereafter. They
were reduced to 4 wickets
of just 3 runs, raising the
ghosts of their Asia Cup
final massacre! This per-
formance was no different
as Indian seamers reduced
them to 8 for 29, and ulti-
mately bowled them out
for 55. Siraj was back to
his best after a couple of
off-colour performances.
He picked up 3 wickets be-
fore Shami came in to bag
another 5-wicket haul, his
second in this World Cup.
In the process, Shami also
became India’s leading
wicket taker in ODI World
Cups with 45 wickets in 14
matches.
At the moment, India is
ticking all boxes, whether
batting, bowling or field-
ing but would like a tough-
er challenge to prepare for
the knockouts. South Af-
rica might just present it to
them since their batsmen
are leading run scorers in
the tournament and in phe-
nomenal hitting form.As a
team, SAhas surpassed the
350 plus score 4 times, be-
coming the first team to do
so in a single edition.
The South African bat-
ting has been led by Quin-
ton de Kock as the top run
scorer with 545 runs and 4
centuries. His calmness is
the right mix to go with the
aggressive hitting by Aid-
en Markram, Heinrich
Klaasen and David Miller.
Together they have been
the tequila that has intoxi-
cated all top teams till now.
But it is worth to remem-
ber that they were bam-
boozled by Netherlands
and this blip exposes the
chinks in their armour.
The Proteas need to be
wary of the Indian bowling
line up as Shami has
brought an edge to the In-
dian attack. It just seems
like the cricketing Gods
have finally showered
their blessings on him
since being kept out of
Playing XI in the first few
matches appears to have
given him greater motiva-
tion to do well. Proteas
will have to deal with him
after the opening burst of
Bumrah and Siraj and that
is a tall order in itself!
Fans at the Eden Gardens
will be treated to a match
between the best batting
and bowling lineups
against each other, but
there is no doubt that they
would be vociferously
cheering for the Men in
Blue to continue their win-
ning momentum!

Friday said there was an
urgent need to explore in-

strengthen deterrence
and revitalise diplomacy
for more effective con-
flict resolution.
Addressing the
Chanakya Defence Dia-
logue-2023, the vice

scored the paramount
importance of achieving
and upholding peace
through a multi-faceted
approach, combining
ideation, advocacy, out-
reach, persuasion, and
dialogue, while also be-
ing vigilant and prepared.
“Being prepared for
war is a pathway to
peace,” he said, and em-
phasised that a nation’s
strength was the most im-
pactful defence and de-
terrent. Dhankhar also
highlighted the signifi-
cance of harnessing a na-
tion’s soft power and eco-
nomic strength as integral
components in enhancing
the security environment.
He said the emergence
of deep technologies like
AI, robotics, quantum,
semi- conductors, bio-
tech, drones and hyper-
sonics have re-written
the very character of war.
“Prowess and mastery
of these domains will de-
termine the strategic
haves and have nots of the
future,” Dhankhar said.
Referring to the ongo-
ing crises in Ukraine and
West Asia, Dhankhar ex-
pressed concern that de-
spite globalisation and
economic interdependen-
cies, conflicts endure.
The skill of nations in
converting economic
surpluses into hard
power is gaining impor-
tance, he said and
stressed on the urgent

cy for more effective

The Congress is confi-
dent of performing well
in the Madhya Pradesh
elections and the absence
of Jyotiraditya Scindia,
now a Union minister,
won’t affect it, said for-
mer CM and Rajya Sabha
MP Digvijaya Singh.
“He (Scindia) had not
brought sizeable num-
bers (MLAs) in the last
elections, but it was the
Congress party which
won that much,” Singh
told PTI in an interview
on Thursday night when
asked how his party will
cope with the absence of
Scindia.
“And if you see the re-
sults of bye elections (in
2020), then it clearly re-
flects that the party has
not got bad results from
there. In Gwalior and
Morena, we have won
the local body elections.
Therefore, it is not right
to give him the entire
credit for it,” Singh said.
The Congress party
contested the elections in
2018, and it is contesting
again this time with total
unity, he said.
The Congress formed
the government in MP
under Kamal Nath after
the 2018 polls, its first
after 15 years. But it fell
in March 2020 when
Scindia and MLAs loyal
to him joined the BJP.

FREEDOM FROM DISEASES
ndia is presently
witnessing a surge
in non-communica-
ble disease and as-
sociated fatalities.
Besides these, there
is a growing concern about the esca-
lation of various other ailments in
the country, causing alarm within the
medical field and among the general
populace. The incidence of high
blood pressure and cancer is on a
steep incline, posing a significant
threat. Furthermore, diabetes is
spreading rapidly across India, with
around 101 million individuals al-
ready diagnosed and an additional
136 million in pre-diabetic stages.
However, by making a few simple
adjustments to your lifestyle, you
can steer clear of these maladies. So,
let's take a positive step towards a
healthier life on Independence Day
and liberate ourselves from diseases.
LIBERATION FROM DISEASES
Dr. Ravi Kiran S K, a Consultant in
Hepatology Liver Transplantation
at Narayana Health City, Bangalore,
emphasized the importance of prior-
itizing adult health and well-being to
achieve the concept of freedom
from disease. This involves focus-
ing on cardiovascular health by man-
aging hypertension and cholesterol
levels, as well as maintaining a heart-
healthy lifestyle. Moreover, address-
ing metabolic disorders like diabetes
and fatty liver disease necessitates a
balanced diet, weight management,
and regular physical activity.Dr.
Kiran also stressed the significance
of preventing respiratory illnesses by
abstaining from smoking, ensuring
good indoor air quality, and receiving
recommended vaccinations. Addi-
tionally, he emphasized the need to
attain mental health freedom by re-
ducing stigma, seeking support when
required, and adopting stress-reduc-
tion techniques.
Ultimately, the freedom from dis-
ease approach encourages individu-
als to proactively lead healthier lives
and mitigate the burden of prevent-
able illnesses. Dr. Behzad Bhandari,
a Consultant Pediatrician at NH
SRCC Hospital, highlighted the im-
portance of parental and child aware-
ness regarding diseases that can be
prevented. Vaccination against
childhood illnesses like measles,
mumps, rubella, chickenpox, and
whooping cough can help reduce
their severity and complications. Dr.
Bhandari also emphasized the sig-
nificance of striving for
freedom from respira-
tory, gastrointestinal,
and skin infections
through good hy-
giene practices.
Additionally, he
advised children to
aim for freedom from
chronic diseases like
asthma, diabetes, and
obesity by engaging in
regular physical activ-
ity, maintaining a
b a l a n c e d
diet, and ad-
hering to
timely medical
check-ups.
TRANSITIONING FROM AN
UNHEALTHY TO A HEALTHY
LIFESTYLE:
While embracing a healthy lifestyle
is commendable, it's advisable to
introduce changes gradually and
consistently.
WHAT CONSTITUTES AN
UNHEALTHY LIFESTYLE?
An unhealthy lifestyle encompasses
habits or behaviors that contribute to
negative health outcomes and in-
crease the risk of chronic diseases
and other health issues. This lifestyle
typically involves factors like poor
nutrition, lack of physical activity,
excessive stress, insufficient sleep,
smoking, excessive alcohol con-
sumption, and substance abuse, as
explained by Dr. Sanjay Singh, a
Consultant in General Medicine at
Cygnus Laxmi Hospital, Varanasi.

Glad that an agreement was signed between @NSDCINDIA and We One, a subsidiary of #DPWorld to create more avenues for global talent mobility as well as for skilling and connecting Indian youth to relevant overseas employment opportunities. Dharmendra Pradhan @dpradhanbjp Huge applause for our promising wrestlers who showcased incredible grit and strength, winning 9 medals at the U23 World Wrestling Championships 2023 and our Women’s Team secured 3rd position in the Women’s Wrestling. Anurag Thakur @ianuragthakur IN-DEPTH UNEMPLOYMENT IN RURAL AREAS CAUSE FOR WORRY ncreasing unemployment in rural areas should be a cause for some concern for the government. Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) said in its latest report that the rise in rural joblessness has pushed up India’s unemploy- ment rate to its highest in two years. The overall rate of unemployment rose from 7.09 percent in Septem- ber to 10.05 percent in October, the highest since May 2021. The encouraging find was the easing of urban unemployment to 8.44, while the rural unem- ployment jumped from 6.2 percent to 10.82. An of- ficial report released in October put the country’s unemployment rate for 2022-23 at 3.2 percent. These figures cast a shadow on India’s growth and strong economic indicators. But the contradiction in rural-urban divide in terms of unemployment is at- tributable to weak rainfall and consequent decline in work opportunities in rural areas. On the other hand, an uptick in manufacturing and consumption has en- sured the easing of urban unemployment. I POTENTIAL RISKS OF AI BRING NATIONS CLOSE rtificial Intelligence is both — a boon and a bane. It holds the promise of transforming human life with improved well-being and, at the same time, is a potential risk for users. Major countries of the world, including India, got together at Britain’s Bletchley Park to evolve a policy to tack- le the dangers posed by Artificial Intelligence. Even before the conference at Bletchley, US President Joe Biden signed an executive order to prevent the spread of harmful content generated by AI. Biden’s decision was influenced by the film Mis- sion Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part 1 in which a malevolent AI ma- nipulates video foot- age and impersonates human voices, as- pects that highlighted AI’s potential dan- gers. The European Union also proposes tough laws to regu- late AI content. These developments are a result of tech leaders’ warning that there is an “out of control race” to cre- ate systems beyond anyone’s control. The Bletchley Dec- laration recognises thatAI “poses signifi- cant risks” and also notes “the potential for unforeseen risks stemming from the capability to manipu- late content or gener- ate deceptive content,” issues which the participating countries found “critically important” and which need- ed to be addressed. The 29 countries which participated in the conference “resolved to sustain an inclusive global dialogue…and to continue research on frontier AI safety to ensure that the benefits of the technology can be harnessed responsibly for the good of all”. The most stark warning has come from Elon Musk of X (formerly Twitter) who said that Artificial Intel- ligence could even destroy civilization and is a risk to humanity. The benefits ofAI make it a necessary evil. A The Bletchley Declaration recognises that AI “poses significant risks” and also notes “the potential for unforeseen risks stemming from the capability to manipulate content or generate deceptive content,” issues which the participating countries found “critically important” and which needed to be addressed l Vol 5 l Issue No. 150 l RNI NO. Though batsmen have re- ceived lavish praises most often, this time Indian bowlers too have been ex- ceptional. Their fearsome hunting as a pack has put India into the semifinals without a single defeat and in the last match too, they enabled Team India to crush Sri Lanka by a mas- sive 302 runs. As India heads to Eden Gardens in Kolkata for its encounter with an in-form South African team, it is heartening to note the ag- gression of Indian fast bowlers. Their control over swing and seam is like poetry in motion, dic- tating the ball as per their whims. Excelling with each passing match and topping their previous per- formances one after the other, the trio of Bumrah, Siraj and Shami have been brutal especially in the last two matches. Bundling out England and Lanka for paltry 129 and 55 respec- tively, Indian spearheads have sent a deadly signal to the rest of the teams! So severe was the thrashing to Sri Lanka that it seemed like a repeat of the Asia Cup final when India had bowled them out for 50 runs! Sri Lankan captain Kusal Mendis’ de- cision to bowl first took most experts by surprise as the conditions were suited to bat first. His decision seemed justified as Dilshan Madhushaka removed In- dian captain Rohit Sharma off just the second ball of the innings with a beautiful out swinger. Both Kohli and Shubman Gill found the going tough in the first 5-6 overs but once they settled down, owing to a few missed chances in the field by the Lankan field- ers, runs came freely. It was yet another even- ing when fans expected a record equalling century from Kohli but it wasn’t to be so. He fell just 12 runs short of the landmark but along with Gill, who also missed his century falling for 92, laid a solid founda- tion for a massive score. It was also a moment of reck- oning for Shreyas who has been under scrutiny for get- ting out to short pitch bowl- ing but he let his bat do the talking by hitting a 56 ball 82 that was studded with 6 humongous sixes. India’s 357 looked like a mountain to climb for the Lankans against Indian bowlers. The very first ball by Bumrah scalped Pathum Nissanka and it was a sorry tale for the Sri Lankan batsmen thereafter. They were reduced to 4 wickets of just 3 runs, raising the ghosts of their Asia Cup final massacre! This per- formance was no different as Indian seamers reduced them to 8 for 29, and ulti- mately bowled them out for 55. Siraj was back to his best after a couple of off-colour performances. He picked up 3 wickets be- fore Shami came in to bag another 5-wicket haul, his second in this World Cup. In the process, Shami also became India’s leading wicket taker in ODI World Cups with 45 wickets in 14 matches. At the moment, India is ticking all boxes, whether batting, bowling or field- ing but would like a tough- er challenge to prepare for the knockouts. South Af- rica might just present it to them since their batsmen are leading run scorers in the tournament and in phe- nomenal hitting form.As a team, SAhas surpassed the 350 plus score 4 times, be- coming the first team to do so in a single edition. The South African bat- ting has been led by Quin- ton de Kock as the top run scorer with 545 runs and 4 centuries. His calmness is the right mix to go with the aggressive hitting by Aid- en Markram, Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller. Together they have been the tequila that has intoxi- cated all top teams till now. But it is worth to remem- ber that they were bam- boozled by Netherlands and this blip exposes the chinks in their armour. The Proteas need to be wary of the Indian bowling line up as Shami has brought an edge to the In- dian attack. It just seems like the cricketing Gods have finally showered their blessings on him since being kept out of Playing XI in the first few matches appears to have given him greater motiva- tion to do well. Proteas will have to deal with him after the opening burst of Bumrah and Siraj and that is a tall order in itself! Fans at the Eden Gardens will be treated to a match between the best batting and bowling lineups against each other, but there is no doubt that they would be vociferously cheering for the Men in Blue to continue their win- ning momentum! MARCHINGINTANDEM TeamIndialooksPeerlessastheytakeonSA As India heads to Eden Gardens in Kolkata for its encounter with an in-form South African team, it is heartening to note the aggression of Indian fast bowlers. Their control over swing and seam is like poetry in motion, dictating the ball as per their whims. Excelling with each passing match and topping their previous performances one after the other, the trio of Bumrah, Siraj and Shami have been brutal especially in the last two matches. Bundling out England and Lanka for paltry 129 and 55 respectively, Indian spearheads have sent a deadly signal to the rest of the teams! Besides these, there is a growing concern about the esca- lation of various other ailments in the country, causing alarm within the medical field and among the general populace. The incidence of high blood pressure and cancer is on a steep incline, posing a significant threat. Furthermore, diabetes is spreading rapidly across India, with around 101 million individuals al- ready diagnosed and an additional 136 million in pre-diabetic stages. However, by making a few simple adjustments to your lifestyle, you can steer clear of these maladies. So, let's take a positive step towards a healthier life on Independence Day and liberate ourselves from diseases. LIBERATION FROM DISEASES Dr. Ravi Kiran S K, a Consultant in Hepatology Liver Transplantation at Narayana Health City, Bangalore, emphasized the importance of prior- itizing adult health and well-being to achieve the concept of freedom from disease. This involves focus- ing on cardiovascular health by man- aging hypertension and cholesterol levels, as well as maintaining a heart- healthy lifestyle. Moreover, address- ing metabolic disorders like diabetes and fatty liver disease necessitates a balanced diet, weight management, and regular physical activity.Dr. Kiran also stressed the significance of preventing respiratory illnesses by abstaining from smoking, ensuring good indoor air quality, and receiving recommended vaccinations. Addi- tionally, he emphasized the need to attain mental health freedom by re- ducing stigma, seeking support when required, and adopting stress-reduc- tion techniques. Ultimately, the freedom from dis- ease approach encourages individu- als to proactively lead healthier lives and mitigate the burden of prevent- able illnesses. Dr. Behzad Bhandari, a Consultant Pediatrician at NH SRCC Hospital, highlighted the im- portance of parental and child aware- ness regarding diseases that can be prevented. Vaccination against childhood illnesses like measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox, and whooping cough can help reduce their severity and complications. Dr. Bhandari also emphasized the sig- nificance of striving for freedom from respira- tory, gastrointestinal, and skin infections through good hy- giene practices. Additionally, he advised children to aim for freedom from chronic diseases like asthma, diabetes, and obesity by engaging in regular physical activ- ity, maintaining a b a l a n c e d diet, and ad- hering to timely medical check-ups.
