to the ground. This was my
initiation into the humble
world of Samaj Sevaks, peo-
plewhoworkwholeheartedl
y
for society and the country
.
The process of debunking
myths about contesting elec-
tions had started for me.
I was told that I would be
fighting against a candidate
belonging to the royal family
and had ruled over the area
from 1952 to 1998. So it was
natural that winning the
election was going to be no
walk in the park for me, nei-
ther would my candidature
be accepted easily. Seniors
advised me to spread a word
among my family, friends
and relatives that I would be
fighting the elections and
seek their support. They
also advised me to meet
Atalji, Advaniji, Kushabhau
Thakre and Sushmaji.
The first karyakarta meet-
ing was to be held at Agarwal
Dharamshala
, Gurgaon. We
were fighting as a coalition
so a joint meeting with Indi-
an National Lokdal and BJP
karyakartas was organized.
The hall was chock-full of
workers of the two parties.
Modiji was present for the
meeting along with the most
renowned names of the BJP
.
What transpired that day
touched me to the core and I
grew emotionally attached
with Modiji for his brotherly
protection,guidanceandsup-
port. In his speech, Modiji
said, “One vote has made all
the difference and it is this- it
is the vote of Congress’s Rao
Indrajeet. Now Sudha Yadav
will fight for this seat. She is
a Veerangana and does not
have anything. We have to
help her fight and win.”
Modiji spread out a sheet on
the floor and placed a steel
Kalash in the centre. He then
charged the hall with these
words “I am a pracharak and
the Sangh takes care of me
and my expenses. Several
years ago when I visited my
mother, she blessed me with
Rs 11 and told me that this
money will come in handy
someday
. I feel it was for this
day that my mother gave me
that money
. I offer Rs 11 for
mysisterSudhaYadav’sfight
in this election and I request
all the karyakartas to sacri-
fice in this yajna everything
they have on them right now,
except for the fare to go back
home.” I was mesmerized, in
a state of transcendence
, as
this entire experience was so
new to me. Within half an
hour, at Modiji’s behest, an
amount of Rs 7.5 lakh had
been collected as funds for
my election campaign.
This is how my political
journey began. After this
Modiji organised a sabha in
my Lok Sabha constituency
.
It was a magnificent sabha
in Rewari and Atalji was to
attend it as well. Modiji rode
on a scooter the entire day to
gauge the pulse of the peo-
ple and the response to our
campaign. My car was stuck
in jam as people were gush-
ing in for the sabha and the
hovering of Atalji’s helicop-
ter could be heard signaling
his arrival. Modiji got me a
lift on a scooter too that took
me through the narrow
lanes so that I could make it
to the sabha in time. After
the event was over, Atalji
had a brief interaction with
me before leaving. He con-
gratulated me for inching
closer to a win. At last, when
I met Modiji at the party of-
fice later in the day, he said
“Look, you are winning this
election. Keep your calm
and continue to campaign
for a couple of days more.
You will make it.” And in-
deed, I won that election!
TO BE CONTINUED…
udha Yadav is a Kargil war
widow and has been a Lok
Sabha MP from Haryana.
Modi’s decision to field Kar-
gil war widows as candidates
gave this teacher a chance to
contest elections. Modi was
PrabhariatHaryanaofficeat
that time. The story is about
the immense support and
guidance that she received
from Modiji for the big con-
test. The incident as it hap-
pened: Modiji had once re-
ceived Rs 11 from his mother
in blessing, which he in turn,
a few years down the line,
handed over to Sudha Yadav
as a blessing to initiate her
election campaign and asked
the karyakartas to contrib-
ute whatever they had on
them at that moment to fund
her campaign. Within half
an hour, there were Rs 7.5
lakh on the blanket donated
as a campaign fund for Sud-
ha and of course, Sudha Ya-
dav won that election.
There were 18 Kargil war
widows in the area I resided
in and it was Modiji’s vision
to field someone from the
family of martyrs for that
election. I was a teacher by
profession and was clueless
about the ways of politics.
All of a sudden I started re-
ceiving calls from BJP mem-
bers encouraging me to con-
test elections but I continued
to refuse as neither my fam-
ily nor I ever imagined my-
self cut out for such a role.
Also, I had no political back-
ground. It was then that
Chaudhary Ishwar Singhji,
who was then the State Pres-
ident of Kisan Morcha, said
to me “I will give you a num-
ber. Speak to the person. You
will find your way
.” It hap-
pened to be Narendrabha
i’s
number. Let me reiterate, I
was so politically naive, I did
not even know what it meant
to be Rashtriye Sanghathan
Mahamantri of BJP
.
Nevertheless,
I called up
the landline number. Naren-
dra bhai used to reside at
Harishchandr
aMathurLane
at that time. He answered the
call himself and I introduced
myself. I said that the mem-
bers of the BJP are persuad-
ing me to contest the upcom-
ing elections and since I am
befuddled I have been given
your number. What he said to
me completely changed my
perspective.Hesaid“Sudhaji

completelyconvincedwheth-
er really politics was my cup

bhai the next day and con-
firmed to him my intention
to contest the elections. But
again I shared my misgiv-
ingswithhimandsaid,“Nar-
endra bhai, a few party work-
ers have told me that a lot of
money is required to run an
election campaign whereas I
belong to the service class.

save for my children. My
daughter is 7 while my son is
only three and a half. So this
money I cannot spend.” Nar-

SONIA GANDHI RAHUL GANDHI GET ED NOTICES IN NATIONAL HERALD CASE
CONGRESS CRIES
‘VENDETTAPOLITICS’
 Rahul Gandhi has been summoned today
 Sonia Gandhi has been summoned on June 8
Moni Sharma
New Delhi: The En-
forcement Directorate
on Wednesday sum-
moned Congress presi-
dent Sonia Gandhi and
her MP son Rahul Gan-
dhi for questioning in a
money laundering case
linked to the National
Herald newspaper, offi-
cials said.
The case was regis-
tered recently to probe
alleged financial irregu-
larities in the party-pro-
motedYoungIndianthat
owns the National Her-
ald newspaper. State-
mentsof otherCongress
leaders, who were then
office bearers of the Na-
tional Herald and Asso-
ciated Journals Limited
(AJL), have also been
recorded by the ED.
The case only in-
volved the conversion
of debt into equity to
pay off dues like sala-
ries, the Congress said,
accusing the govern-
ment of trying to deflect
attention from “real is-
sues” like inflation.
By targeting National Herald every
now and then, BJP has disgraced
and disrespected freedom fighters
as their [BJP’s]
predecessors
didn’t play a role in India’s
Freedom Movement. National
Herald newspaper was started
in 1942. At that time British
tried to suppress it. Today,
Modi govt is using the ED
to do the same. A money
laundering case has been registered when there is
no money laundering. Move reeks of a vendetta,
pettiness, fear, and political cheapness.

HC to get two judges,

First India Bureau
Jodhpur: The Ra-

to the ground. This was my
initiation into the humble
world of Samaj Sevaks, peo-
plewhoworkwholeheartedly
for society and the country
.
The process of debunking
myths about contesting elec-
tions had started for me.
I was told that I would be
fighting against a candidate
belonging to the royal family
and had ruled over the area
from 1952 to 1998. So it was
natural that winning the
election was going to be no
walk in the park for me, nei-
ther would my candidature
be accepted easily. Seniors
advised me to spread a word
among my family, friends
and relatives that I would be
fighting the elections and
seek their support. They
also advised me to meet
Atalji, Advaniji, Kushabhau
Thakre and Sushmaji.
The first karyakarta meet-
ing was to be held at Agarwal
Dharamshala, Gurgaon. We
were fighting as a coalition
so a joint meeting with Indi-
an National Lokdal and BJP
karyakartas was organized.
The hall was chock-full of
workers of the two parties.
Modiji was present for the
meeting along with the most
renowned names of the BJP
.
What transpired that day
touched me to the core and I
grew emotionally attached
with Modiji for his brotherly
protection,guidanceandsup-
port. In his speech, Modiji
said, “One vote has made all
the difference and it is this- it
is the vote of Congress’s Rao
Indrajeet. Now Sudha Yadav
will fight for this seat. She is
a Veerangana and does not
have anything. We have to
help her fight and win.”
Modiji spread out a sheet on
the floor and placed a steel
Kalash in the centre. He then
charged the hall with these
words “I am a pracharak and
the Sangh takes care of me
and my expenses. Several
years ago when I visited my
mother, she blessed me with
Rs 11 and told me that this
money will come in handy
someday
. I feel it was for this
day that my mother gave me
that money
. I offer Rs 11 for
mysisterSudhaYadav’sfight
in this election and I request
all the karyakartas to sacri-
fice in this yajna everything
they have on them right now,
except for the fare to go back
home.” I was mesmerized, in
a state of transcendence, as
this entire experience was so
new to me. Within half an
hour, at Modiji’s behest, an
amount of Rs 7.5 lakh had
been collected as funds for
my election campaign.
This is how my political
journey began. After this
Modiji organised a sabha in
my Lok Sabha constituency
.
It was a magnificent sabha
in Rewari and Atalji was to
attend it as well. Modiji rode
on a scooter the entire day to
gauge the pulse of the peo-
ple and the response to our
campaign. My car was stuck
in jam as people were gush-
ing in for the sabha and the
hovering of Atalji’s helicop-
ter could be heard signaling
his arrival. Modiji got me a
lift on a scooter too that took
me through the narrow
lanes so that I could make it
to the sabha in time. After
the event was over, Atalji
had a brief interaction with
me before leaving. He con-
gratulated me for inching
closer to a win. At last, when
I met Modiji at the party of-
fice later in the day, he said
“Look, you are winning this
election. Keep your calm
and continue to campaign
for a couple of days more.
You will make it.” And in-
deed, I won that election!
TO BE CONTINUED…
udha Yadav is a Kargil war
widow and has been a Lok
Sabha MP from Haryana.
Modi’s decision to field Kar-
gil war widows as candidates
gave this teacher a chance to
contest elections. Modi was
PrabhariatHaryanaofficeat
that time. The story is about
the immense support and
guidance that she received
from Modiji for the big con-
test. The incident as it hap-
pened: Modiji had once re-
ceived Rs 11 from his mother
in blessing, which he in turn,
a few years down the line,
handed over to Sudha Yadav
as a blessing to initiate her
election campaign and asked
the karyakartas to contrib-
ute whatever they had on
them at that moment to fund
her campaign. Within half
an hour, there were Rs 7.5
lakh on the blanket donated
as a campaign fund for Sud-
ha and of course, Sudha Ya-
dav won that election.
There were 18 Kargil war
widows in the area I resided
in and it was Modiji’s vision
to field someone from the
family of martyrs for that
election. I was a teacher by
profession and was clueless
about the ways of politics.
All of a sudden I started re-
ceiving calls from BJP mem-
bers encouraging me to con-
test elections but I continued
to refuse as neither my fam-
ily nor I ever imagined my-
self cut out for such a role.
Also, I had no political back-
ground. It was then that
Chaudhary Ishwar Singhji,
who was then the State Pres-
ident of Kisan Morcha, said
to me “I will give you a num-
ber. Speak to the person. You
will find your way
.” It hap-
pened to be Narendrabhai’s

was so politically naive, I did

firmed to him my intention
to contest the elections. But
again I shared my misgiv-

COURTESY VISIT
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla meets President Ram Nath
Kovind on Wednesday.
Bihar politicos see eye to
eye, caste census soon
New Delhi: Caste-
based survey to be con-
ducted in Bihar soon,
announced chief minis-
ter Nitish Kumar on
Wednesday
.
Addressing a press
conference along with
RJD leader Tejashwi
Yadav, Nitish Kumar
said that the “caste-
based count” will done
in a set time frame.
The Bihar chief minis-
ter made announce-
ment after an all-party
meet held on Wednes-
day.
“In the meeting all
nine parties unani-
mously decided that a
caste-based census will
be done in a set time
frame. Soon a cabinet
decision will be taken
and it will be available
in the public domain,”
Nitish said.
RJD leader Tejashwi
Yadav asserted that the
“caste-based survey”
was in the interest of
the people of the state
and urged the Central
government to provide
the necessary finan-
cial support.
“It’s a caste-based
survey, not a census.
It’s our win. Today we
suggested (in the all-
party meeting) that so-
cial anthropologists
should be included in
this,” Tejashwi said.
“We’ve said to bring
the (bill) in the next
cabinet meeting and
start it in the month of
November. During
Chhath puja people who
reside outside Bihar
will also come to the
state and till then we
can complete prepara-
tion for it,” he added.
All nine parties unanimously decided to go ahead with caste census

New Delhi: When for-
mer Karnataka Chief
Minister BS Yediyurap-
pa was removed from
the post of Chief Minis-
ter, there was talk that
his son BY Vijayendra
would be made a minis-
ter in the state govern-
ment, but that did not
happen. Then there was
a discussion that he
would be given ticket in
the Legislative Council
elections to be held on
seven seats, but he
didn’t even get the tick-
et. Now Yediyurappa
has said that a big re-
sponsibility will be
given to his son. There-
fore the question is,
will his son get the big
responsibility as his fa-
ther has claimed? Keep
in mind that the assem-
bly elections are going
to be held in the state
next year and it is be-
lieved that Vijayendra
can get a ticket then.
But contesting the as-
sembly elections is not
a big responsibility. So
the question natural
arises: Is Yediyurappa
seeing his son become
the chief minister?
On the other hand,
knowledgeable BJP
leaders say that Basa-
varaj Bommai has been
made the Chief Minis-
ter of the state as Yed-
diurappa’s choice. So
now there is no need to
listen to him.
Either he can keep a
chief minister of his
choice or get his son
made a minister. It is
said that Yeddyurappa
is sacrificing his son
only to keep ‘alive’ CM
‘nominated’ bi him.
But it won’t last long.
Yeddiurappa will real-
ly take some big re-
sponsibility in the par-
ty for his son before the
next assembly elec-
tions. If his son is not
made a minister, then
he would like to inter-
fere more in the distri-
bution of assembly
tickets so that more
and more people can
get tickets. Yediyurap-
pa is laying his cards
by sensing the situa-
tion of a hung assem-
bly and therefore, the
assembly elections
next year are going to
be interesting.
Does BS Yediyurappa see a CM in his son?

To escape suspicion, after killing the mother, they
reached SMS Hospital to get the post-mortem done.
The matter appeared doubtful to the hospital admin-

accused couple confessed to the murder. There was
a frequent quarrel between mother and son regard-

POSTAL REG NO. JPC/004/2022-24
Rajendra Chhabra
Jaipur: IAS Sudhansh
Pant will head to Delhi
as the state government
has given him NOC to
head for deputation to
the central govern-
ment. With this, the
suspense and specula-
tion over Pant heading
to Delhi, or not, has
also come to an end.
Now he will serve as
Secretary in the Cen-
tral government.
It is believed that ow-
ing to Pant’s connect
and image in the cen-
tral government, he
may get a call soon.
Pant, a 1991 batch IAS,
has five years of service
still left and till then he
may continue to serve
in the Centre. When in
March 2020, during the
first wave of covid, Pant
was called to Centre on
special deputation, he
continued to serve in
Delhi till December
2021, after he was given
an extension on deputa-
tion. This was so be-
cause from 2014 to 2019,
Pant had served in the
Union Health Ministry
and therefore, he was
called specially
.
At that time itself,
Pant had requested the
state government to al-
low him to continue
serving in the Centre,
but instead of giving
him NOC, in January
2021, he was called back
to Rajasthan, given a
promotion to the post
of additional chief sec-
retary and handed the
reins of PHED.
Pant was assured
that after June 2022,
once the drinking wa-
ter problem comes to an
end, he would be given
the NOC to head to Del-
hi, but the situation de-
veloped so fast that sud-
denly in April 2022, he
was transferred from
PHED to Pollution Con-
trol Board as its Chair-
man.
Not only that, ten
days back he was given
a three year appoint-
ment on the same post.
Government’s order
shocked the entire bu-
reaucracy and it was
thought that Pant
would not be able to go
to Delhi for the next
three years.
Sources reveal that
Sudhansh Pant met
Chief Minister Ashok
Gehlot last week and
after that, on Wednes-
day, he was given the
NOC to head to Delhi. It
is said that the three
year appointment order
will also not curtail
Pant’s move to Delhi.

TO STOP EX-BSP MLAs
FROM VOTING, BSP
WRITES TO GUV, JOSHI
Jaipur (PTI): Dy LoP
Rajendra Rathore on
Wednesday targeted CM
Gehlot for accusing the
BJP of horse-trading,
saying the Cong leader
himself is an expert in
“elephant trading”, re-
ferring to BSP’s election
symbol. He said Gehlot
brought BSP MLAs to
theCongwhilebeingthe
CM twice and It was not
just ‘elephant trading’
but he swallowed the en-
tire ‘elephant’ (BSP).
All the 6 BSP MLAs
had joined the Cong in
2019. During Gehlot’s
earlier term as CM in
2009 as well, all BSP
MLAs had defected to
the Cong. “The CM lev-
elledallegationsthatthe
MLAs were given the
temptation of Rs 35
crore. All agencies are
with the CM, why clear
things do not come to
the fore? He only tries to
mislead the people by
speaking lies,” Rathore
said. He claimed that
there is an internal fight
in the Cong and resent-
ment among its MLAs
ministers, who are giv-
ing statements against
their own government.
Jaipur: Days ahead of the RS
polls on 4 seats in Raj, BSP’s
state unit has written a letter
to Governor Kalraj Mishra and
assembly speaker CP Joshi
demanding that the 6 MLAs
who had defected to Congress
should be barred from par-
ticipating in polls. BSP state
prez Bhagwan Singh Baba
said in the letter that six MLAs
who won on BSP symbol in
the 2018- assembly elections
unconstitutionally merged
with the Congress and a case
is going on against them in
SC under the Anti-Defection
Act, therefore these should
be stopped from voting in the

my personal favour-

not in this league as
an entertainer but it
had its moments with
it’s moral ambiguity
and in-depth charac-
terisation of the lead
actors not to mention
the music.
The title track
O’meri Sharmilee is
super cute and buoy-
ant. Khiltey hain gul
yahaan and Megha

both totally humma-
ble even today. Aaj

love and togetherness.
Rakhee is actually
breathtakingly beau-
tiful in both person-
nas as the wild and
outgoing Kanchan
and the demure and
traditional Kamini,
though I personally in
looks preferred the
traditional sweet Ra-
khee. She does mod-
ernise herself for her
beau Shashi but her
core remains tradi-
tional.
I liked the negative
Rakhee as Kamini
much better with her
spontaneity, naughti-
ness, perkiness, self-
ishness and flirta-
tious ways much more
than Kanchan who is
‘demure as dumb’,
painfully shy. And un-
like the usual Bolly-
wood twin dramas,
the ‘bad’ twin does
not have a change of
heart in the end, in
fact Kanchan be-
comes actually vil-
lainous towards the
end- her’s and the
movie’s. There is a
stark contrast be-
tween the two with
the self- sacrificing
Kamini and the self-
ish Kanchan.
Shashi Kapoor will
steal your heart as a
dashing, handsome,
charming Army of-
ficer (in uniform most
of the time) who falls
for one sister to be
married off to her
twin though I do wish
he had been kinder to
the innocent Kamini;
he is brutal in heart-
break and actually we
see a nervous break-
down. But the charac-
ters are all too human,
be it Shatrughan, Ra-
khee as Kanchan or
Shashi.
The movie has a
moral lesson of
traditional versus
modern Kanchan
the party girl falls
in the wrong com-
pany and how her life
deteriorates. The
strength of Kamini
who with her moral
compass and compas-
sion finds happiness.
The movie does have
some unnecessary
twists and under-
world drama but then
what is Bollywood
without these?

  • 1. to the ground. This was my initiation into the humble world of Samaj Sevaks, peo- plewhoworkwholeheartedl y for society and the country . The process of debunking myths about contesting elec- tions had started for me. I was told that I would be fighting against a candidate belonging to the royal family and had ruled over the area from 1952 to 1998. So it was natural that winning the election was going to be no walk in the park for me, nei- ther would my candidature be accepted easily. Seniors advised me to spread a word among my family, friends and relatives that I would be fighting the elections and seek their support. They also advised me to meet Atalji, Advaniji, Kushabhau Thakre and Sushmaji. The first karyakarta meet- ing was to be held at Agarwal Dharamshala , Gurgaon. We were fighting as a coalition so a joint meeting with Indi- an National Lokdal and BJP karyakartas was organized. The hall was chock-full of workers of the two parties. Modiji was present for the meeting along with the most renowned names of the BJP . What transpired that day touched me to the core and I grew emotionally attached with Modiji for his brotherly protection,guidanceandsup- port. In his speech, Modiji said, “One vote has made all the difference and it is this- it is the vote of Congress’s Rao Indrajeet. Now Sudha Yadav will fight for this seat. She is a Veerangana and does not have anything. We have to help her fight and win.” Modiji spread out a sheet on the floor and placed a steel Kalash in the centre. He then charged the hall with these words “I am a pracharak and the Sangh takes care of me and my expenses. Several years ago when I visited my mother, she blessed me with Rs 11 and told me that this money will come in handy someday . I feel it was for this day that my mother gave me that money . I offer Rs 11 for mysisterSudhaYadav’sfight in this election and I request all the karyakartas to sacri- fice in this yajna everything they have on them right now, except for the fare to go back home.” I was mesmerized, in a state of transcendence , as this entire experience was so new to me. Within half an hour, at Modiji’s behest, an amount of Rs 7.5 lakh had been collected as funds for my election campaign. This is how my political journey began. After this Modiji organised a sabha in my Lok Sabha constituency . It was a magnificent sabha in Rewari and Atalji was to attend it as well. Modiji rode on a scooter the entire day to gauge the pulse of the peo- ple and the response to our campaign. My car was stuck in jam as people were gush- ing in for the sabha and the hovering of Atalji’s helicop- ter could be heard signaling his arrival. Modiji got me a lift on a scooter too that took me through the narrow lanes so that I could make it to the sabha in time. After the event was over, Atalji had a brief interaction with me before leaving. He con- gratulated me for inching closer to a win. At last, when I met Modiji at the party of- fice later in the day, he said “Look, you are winning this election. Keep your calm and continue to campaign for a couple of days more. You will make it.” And in- deed, I won that election! TO BE CONTINUED… udha Yadav is a Kargil war widow and has been a Lok Sabha MP from Haryana. Modi’s decision to field Kar- gil war widows as candidates gave this teacher a chance to contest elections. Modi was PrabhariatHaryanaofficeat that time. The story is about the immense support and guidance that she received from Modiji for the big con- test. The incident as it hap- pened: Modiji had once re- ceived Rs 11 from his mother in blessing, which he in turn, a few years down the line, handed over to Sudha Yadav as a blessing to initiate her election campaign and asked the karyakartas to contrib- ute whatever they had on them at that moment to fund her campaign. Within half an hour, there were Rs 7.5 lakh on the blanket donated as a campaign fund for Sud- ha and of course, Sudha Ya- dav won that election. There were 18 Kargil war widows in the area I resided in and it was Modiji’s vision to field someone from the family of martyrs for that election. I was a teacher by profession and was clueless about the ways of politics. All of a sudden I started re- ceiving calls from BJP mem- bers encouraging me to con- test elections but I continued to refuse as neither my fam- ily nor I ever imagined my- self cut out for such a role. Also, I had no political back- ground. It was then that Chaudhary Ishwar Singhji, who was then the State Pres- ident of Kisan Morcha, said to me “I will give you a num- ber. Speak to the person. You will find your way .” It hap- pened to be Narendrabha i’s number. Let me reiterate, I was so politically naive, I did not even know what it meant to be Rashtriye Sanghathan Mahamantri of BJP . Nevertheless, I called up the landline number. Naren- dra bhai used to reside at Harishchandr aMathurLane at that time. He answered the call himself and I introduced myself. I said that the mem- bers of the BJP are persuad- ing me to contest the upcom- ing elections and since I am befuddled I have been given your number. What he said to me completely changed my perspective.Hesaid“Sudhaji a great change has come in yourlifewiththemartyrdom of your husband. Now you must come out to serve soci- ety . Just say yes and the party will help you fight the elec- tions.” Although I wasn’t completelyconvincedwheth- er really politics was my cup of tea, I called up Narendra bhai the next day and con- firmed to him my intention to contest the elections. But again I shared my misgiv- ingswithhimandsaid,“Nar- endra bhai, a few party work- ers have told me that a lot of money is required to run an election campaign whereas I belong to the service class. What I have received as exgratia payment, I wish to save for my children. My daughter is 7 while my son is only three and a half. So this money I cannot spend.” Nar- endra bhai replied “Sudhaji just say yes. Sangathan will help you fight the elections. These are all myths about elections that you must not harbour.HavefaithinNaren- dra bhai and say yes to serv- ing the society .” Thiswasthefirsttelephon- ic conversation I had with Narendra bhai and I was yet to meet him in person. My first meeting with some of the senior leaders of the Sangh Parivar happened a coupleof dayslateratHarish- chandra Mathur Lane which wastheresidenceof anMP .It had two rooms at the back and an open area in the front. • 4. to the ground. This was my initiation into the humble world of Samaj Sevaks, peo- plewhoworkwholeheartedly for society and the country . The first karyakarta meet- ing was to be held at Agarwal Dharamshala, Gurgaon. I offer Rs 11 for mysisterSudhaYadav’sfight in this election and I request all the karyakartas to sacri- fice in this yajna everything they have on them right now, except for the fare to go back home.” I was mesmerized, in a state of transcendence, as this entire experience was so new to me. You will find your way .” It hap- pened to be Narendrabhai’s number. Let me reiterate, I was so politically naive, I did not even know what it meant to be Rashtriye Sanghathan Mahamantri of BJP . Nevertheless, I called up the landline number. Naren- dra bhai used to reside at HarishchandraMathurLane at that time. I was awe-stricken to find Modiji,suchawell-knownpo- litical figure, sitting on a mat- tress on the floor, with books strewn all over the place and a telephone next to him. Keep in mind that the assem- bly elections are going to be held in the state next year and it is be- lieved that Vijayendra can get a ticket then. But contesting the as- sembly elections is not a big responsibility. So the question natural arises: Is Yediyurappa seeing his son become the chief minister? On the other hand, knowledgeable BJP leaders say that Basa- varaj Bommai has been made the Chief Minis- ter of the state as Yed- diurappa’s choice. So now there is no need to listen to him. Either he can keep a chief minister of his choice or get his son made a minister. It is said that Yeddyurappa is sacrificing his son only to keep ‘alive’ CM ‘nominated’ bi him. But it won’t last long. Yeddiurappa will real- ly take some big re- sponsibility in the par- ty for his son before the next assembly elec- tions. If his son is not made a minister, then he would like to inter- fere more in the distri- bution of assembly tickets so that more and more people can get tickets. Yediyurap- pa is laying his cards by sensing the situa- tion of a hung assem- bly and therefore, the assembly elections next year are going to be interesting. Does BS Yediyurappa see a CM in his son? JPC/004/2022-24 Rajendra Chhabra Jaipur: IAS Sudhansh Pant will head to Delhi as the state government has given him NOC to head for deputation to the central govern- ment. With this, the suspense and specula- tion over Pant heading to Delhi, or not, has also come to an end. Now he will serve as Secretary in the Cen- tral government. It is believed that ow- ing to Pant’s connect and image in the cen- tral government, he may get a call soon. Pant, a 1991 batch IAS, has five years of service still left and till then he may continue to serve in the Centre. When in March 2020, during the first wave of covid, Pant was called to Centre on special deputation, he continued to serve in Delhi till December 2021, after he was given an extension on deputa- tion. This was so be- cause from 2014 to 2019, Pant had served in the Union Health Ministry and therefore, he was called specially . At that time itself, Pant had requested the state government to al- low him to continue serving in the Centre, but instead of giving him NOC, in January 2021, he was called back to Rajasthan, given a promotion to the post of additional chief sec- retary and handed the reins of PHED. Pant was assured that after June 2022, once the drinking wa- ter problem comes to an end, he would be given the NOC to head to Del- hi, but the situation de- veloped so fast that sud- denly in April 2022, he was transferred from PHED to Pollution Con- trol Board as its Chair- man. Not only that, ten days back he was given a three year appoint- ment on the same post. Government’s order shocked the entire bu- reaucracy and it was thought that Pant would not be able to go to Delhi for the next three years. Sources reveal that Sudhansh Pant met Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot last week and after that, on Wednes- day, he was given the NOC to head to Delhi. But history is witness that Congress has not bowed down to such oppressive thinking and will never bow down. lll Pant met CM Gehlot last week and after that, on Wednesday, he was given the NOC to head to Delhi, the 3 year appointment order will also not curtail Pant’s move Sudhansh Pant Govind Singh Dotasra —PHOTOS BY MUKESH KIRADOO

Sharmilee was not in this league as an entertainer but it had its moments with it’s moral ambiguity and in-depth charac- terisation of the lead actors not to mention the music. The title track O’meri Sharmilee is super cute and buoy- ant. Khiltey hain gul yahaan and Megha chaye aandhi raat are both totally humma- ble even today. Aaj madhosh hua jaaye rey … it’s all about love and togetherness. Rakhee is actually breathtakingly beau- tiful in both person- nas as the wild and outgoing Kanchan and the demure and traditional Kamini, though I personally in looks preferred the traditional sweet Ra- khee. She does mod- ernise herself for her beau Shashi but her core remains tradi- tional. I liked the negative Rakhee as Kamini much better with her spontaneity, naughti- ness, perkiness, self- ishness and flirta- tious ways much more than Kanchan who is ‘demure as dumb’, painfully shy. And un- like the usual Bolly- wood twin dramas, the ‘bad’ twin does not have a change of heart in the end, in fact Kanchan be- comes actually vil- lainous towards the end- her’s and the movie’s. There is a stark contrast be- tween the two with the self- sacrificing Kamini and the self- ish Kanchan. Shashi Kapoor will steal your heart as a dashing, handsome, charming Army of- ficer (in uniform most of the time) who falls for one sister to be married off to her twin though I do wish he had been kinder to the innocent Kamini; he is brutal in heart- break and actually we see a nervous break- down. But the charac- ters are all too human, be it Shatrughan, Ra- khee as Kanchan or Shashi. The movie has a moral lesson of traditional versus modern Kanchan the party girl falls in the wrong com- pany and how her life deteriorates. The strength of Kamini who with her moral compass and compas- sion finds happiness. The movie does have some unnecessary twists and under- world drama but then what is Bollywood without these?
