The document discusses feedback received on marketing materials for a film from target audiences aged 15-24. Surveys and online comments provided feedback on a pitch presentation, rough cut trailer featuring an out-of-place scream, and posters and magazines with inconsistent colors and hard-to-read fonts. Based on the feedback, the scream was removed from the final trailer, fonts and lighting were improved, and posters and magazines were made consistent to better link the materials and identify the film. Overall, most audience feedback on the final marketing campaign was positive.

Learn from Audience Feedback
1. Question 3: What have you learned
from your audience feedback?
Christina Gadsby
2. Film industry need to spend a lot time and money screening
films to invited audiences and seeing what the audience likes
through market research?
It is important for film industry to focus on their target audiences
because otherwise the film will not be successful. Also if people
watch their films before they release if there is something the
audience do not like, the producers might be able to make it
better so that the film becomes more popular. It is important to
do a lot of market research because if no one likes the film then
there will not be any profits and the company will struggle. It cost
a lot to make a film so therefore to make a living the director,
producers and companies will want to receive a lot of money
back so that they make a profit.
3. Our target audience
Our target audience is 15-24 year olds.
Our target audience is for boys and girls.
This is what our typical audience will look like:
4. The stages that we asked our audience
questions or got their feedback?
• We first asked for feedback from people around 15-24 year olds
when we did our pitch presentation. This way we can ensure that
the audience like our film idea because otherwise it would not be
success if we made it.
• We then took the feedback on board and made a rough copy
version of our film. After we did this we needed to get some more
feedback so we would know what to improve for the final draft. We
might have missed something important that needed correcting so
it is important for a second opinion.
• Lastly, when we put our teaser trailer out we asked feedback again
to see what the audience thought of the trailer and to see whether
they would be interested to come and see our film.
5. How we got our feedback?
When we did our pitch presentation we gave the audience a
survey form to comment on.
In the rough copy we asked people to leave some notes and also
to comment on our poster and magazine and trailer.
In the final copy of our trailer, magazine and poster we asked
people to comment on YouTube.
6. Importance of feedback:
Feedback is important because then you have clear
indication of the positives and negatives of your
product. This helps you make sure that you keep the
positive and change the negative feedback. Feedback is
important because it helps you see how popular
product is likely to be. You can also change the
negatives which will mean that your audience will like
it to be more. So therefore, feedback is useful to
ensure that your product is perfect when you release
it.
7. Rough copy of Teaser Trailer
In our rough copy we found out that everyone
understood the narrative and the genre which
is what we were hoping for. Everyone liked the
Mise en scene effects that were added to the
film. We used Mise en scene through make up,
the lighting, costume and setting. The
weaknesses of the teaser trailer was a lot of
people felt the scream at the end did not fit in.
A lot of people felt this because it does not
sound the same as the actress voice Lex. A lot
of people also thought the scream was in a
random place and that it was not needed. The
lighting also was a bit odd in places because it
was not the same throughout so it did not look
right.
8. Final trailer
In the final trailer we listened to the feedback and
decided that it was better that we did not include the
scream. Even though the scream is good because it
scares the audience more and they do not suspect it. It
makes the audience confused because the scream does
not sound similar to the actress voice so it makes the
idea of the film less convincing. It also makes our trailer
look too basic because it looks like we have just
included a scream for no reason. We also made the
lighting the same throughout the trailer to make the
film look more realistic.
9. Rough copy of Poster
The feedback of the poster was good. Everyone
thought that the poster was scary which will help
persuade people to watch the film. This is the main
thing that our group wanted to achieve with our
audience because it helps give the audience an
idea of what the film is about. There were also
some negative comments but it they are all
resolvable which is the main thing. The audience
felt that the magazine and poster colours did not
match each other. This is an interesting comment
because if the poster and magazine have the same
colour and font then the audience is more likely to
identify the film. Someone else also thought the
audience should be a 12 instead of an 18 because
then more people will see it. The audience also
felt that the font for the title was hard to read so
we should change the font so the audience will
understand more what it says.
10. The changes made in the poster:
This is the final poster. We listened to the
comment about the age rating so we believed it
was easier to take the age rating out of poster.
We also changed the font so that now it is a lot
easier to read. The title of the film is the most
important thing on the poster because it helps
give the film an identify otherwise the audience
will not know how to watch the film.
11. Rough Copy of Magazine
For the magazine there was a lot of
feedback. Unfortunately the magazine did
have a lot of criticism especially compared to
the poster and teaser trailer. A lot of people
believed that there needed to be more
information written on the magazine so that
the viewer knows more of what is happens
in the film. A lot of people felt that the
background was boring and did not suit the
genre of our film. A lot of people also felt
that the roses could have been presented
better.
12. The changes made in the magazine:
In the magazine to improve we firstly changed
the background because black is a darker
colour which will make the magazine scarier.
We also did this because of the feedback we
got from our poster. The audience said that
there should be more of a link between the
poster and magazine to get more of an
identify. So we decided to change the
background because then it is similar.
13. The success of our Marketing
Campaign
The final audience feedback was majority positive. A lot of
people felt that they did not know what was going to
happen in the film which would make them want to watch
the film. I believe the film will be a success because a lot of
people talked about how they liked the Mise en scene
aspects as it made the film scarier. People also believed the
music suited the trailer and the genre. The poster and
magazine should also persuade people to watch the film
because the comments on the poster and magazine were
mainly positive. The only negative comments were that the
magazine should have more writing and the roses could
have gone off the poster but I do not believe this will stop
many people from watching the film.
